There was one person to check in and one guest took forever to check in, once that person was taken care of the other person in front of us took about three minutes to check in and we were about the same. Property is in a suburb of Duluth which was right off the freeway. We didn’t care about the location because we were here for a specific reason and only staying one night. Breakfast was very basic some hot foods, workout room treadmill was not working because the safety key would not connect. Workout room some dumbells and a bench elliptical and adjustable bench. The grade of the equipment was low end commercial. Room was very clean, beds were I would say firm mattreess. It appears the hotel was updated or newer. Two USB ports in the lamp by the bed along with a 110 outlet in the same lamp. That was great because I have a CPAP machine and was able to charge phone by bed. The adjoining restaurant had very good food and nice bar area. Pool area was clean and well maintained. Adequate parking. There is only two gas stations in the immediate area and no other restaurants, hotel is more in a residential area.

The hot tub was out of order and I was told over the phone 3 days before my stay it was working fine. The pool was cold. The breakfast was great and the staff were great especially Christine.

Staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was nice. Hot tub worked but less than half of the jets worked. Room was nice and clean. TV worked great. Plenty of electrical outlets to plug in your charging devices. We ate at the restaurant attached to the hotel and the food was good.

I am towing a boat so it was nice to see ample parking areas. The hotel restaurant was a nice environment and had a good dinner. Views of Lake Superior as you come down I 35 toward the property.

The hotel is nice, free breakfast. Two major issues- 1) there is a huge problem with the treadmill. It stopped in the middle of my workout and I almost went flying backward- the safety key is malfunctioning so the treadmill shuts off even when the key is in the holder. 2) there was no internet. When I called the front desk they stated there was a part on order. Customer service didn't do anything either. Very frustrating when you're trying to get some work done!

We had a good check in and were happy to have 2 connecting rooms and the 3rd room nearby. The room And pool were very clean and I am picky. I would spruce up the entrance outside as the weeds etc are misleading you about the hotel . I would definitely stay again.

The location just outside of Duluth is convenient and located close enough to get where you need within 15 minutes. The pet friendliness is great and they provide baggies and an outdoor space to hangout and walk your dog. The carpet needs a thorough cleaning in the hallways, but the rooms are very clean.

The staff seemed annoyed we were there to check in. They didn’t greet us or use any pleasantries. Our room was not clean. There was a fake nail in one corner of the bathroom and a ball of hair in the other. There weren’t any pool towels. When we asked for some, it was a short snippy response.

We checked in at the front desk and got into our room. It looked nice and seemed clean, perfect for our two night stay. But then we noticed the bed comforter was covered in dog fur! There was all sorts of fur colors…had the comforter even been washed?! We also saw the green comfy chair in the corner was covered in fur. We are dog lovers but if you’re a pet friendly hotel, you have to go the extra mile with the cleaning! That was the only negative part of our stay, otherwise we were happy with everything.

Was disappointed in the cleanliness of the room. We found skittles under the couch. Someone had left behind their suit coats. The room smelled strong of lysol, which is great, BUT I wondered if the room was cleaned or just surface sanitized. I was not impressed. When I told front desk about the room, they seemed to not care.

Mild and rust in shower. All corners on the room floors had dirt. When we left we were not even asked how our stay was. Clerk behind desk was very difficult to understand. He had a base cap on and did not look professional. Disappointing.

Facility is in an excellent view location and connected to a convention center. The hotel itself is older. Due to it being pet friendly the carpet wear and cleanliness shows. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Morning breakfast was well done.

Enjoyed our stay and will come again. The large suite was very restful. Our only difficulty was that our many of our electronics did not work in outdated outlets. We found that many electrical plugs fell out or would not go in. The charging stations did not work with our newer I-pads and phone chargers.

Loved this hotel. Beds comfy, pool warm, restaurant on site was fantastic. Staff very kind and breakfast was very nice. I liked the organizer shelf unit in the room. Fridge and microwave were appreciated. Quiet too. If you’re not feeling a restaurant meal the gas station across the street is like a grocery store equipped with hot food. Only constructive criticism is that there was a large gap between the door and door jamb I could see hall way light coming in. It was near the left lower side of the door in 120.

Quiet, but TV was to side of bed, making for awkward viewing. Also, this is a no-frills hotel so the body wash was in thumb size bottles, no bars of soap. We had just the two bottles for washing hands and showering. We were there for four nights and when we asked for another bottle, we got one. We had to ask for a second one, and finally just bought a bottle at a nearby Walgreens. The towels were thin and small. The breakfasts, however, were buffet and very good. A nice selection of hot and cold options -- that allowed us to eat based on our blood sugar levels (we are both diabetic). It's just south of Duluth but we had no problem getting in our car and getting wherever we wanted to in about 10-15 minutes, even though it's road construction season!

I was very happy to find a reasonably priced room here for this weekend as many of the other places were already fully booked or else had incredibly inflated prices. It was a reasonably quiet spot, and I appreciated the breakfast and the helpfulness of the staff. What I didn't like was that the beds were very hard (painfully so for me). If you like hard beds, this would be the place for you.

Hotel felt new and was kept up well. Room was nice, had a stove, sink, mini fridge, dishes; which was not expecting for a room this size. TV was larger than any TV I have seen in a hotel room. Staff was friendly and got us checked in fast. The adjoining grill and bar had great food and plenty of seating. The sound proofing wasn't the best as we could hear the TV from the room next to us. Other than that excellent hotel and would definitely stay here again.

Our stay at this hotel was deeply unsettling and unacceptable. We checked in late at night and were given a key to our assigned room. Upon entering, we were shocked to find someone already sleeping in the bed — we had accidentally walked in on another guest. Not only was this incredibly awkward and embarrassing for everyone involved, but it also raised serious safety concerns. How does something like this even happen? It made us question the security and management of the entire hotel. After informing the front desk, we were moved to another room where we discovered the toilet was broken. At that point, we were too exhausted to complain further. Upon checkout, the staff apologized again and said a manager would follow up with us — but no one ever did. This experience was not only inconvenient but also alarming. The fact that a key could be issued to an already-occupied room is a serious breach of guest safety and privacy. I cannot in good conscience recommend this hotel to anyone. Safety and trust are the bare minimum, and unfortunately, this hotel failed on both fronts.

We never made it to this property. They called us 10 minutes before check in to say our room was not available and there was nothing they could do to help us and they had no other rooms available. No apologies, no offer to relocate or help in any way. We had to turn around after a 3 hour drive and drive 3 hours back hom. They ruined a 30th wedding anniversary.

It was relatively clean and the bed was comfortable but it was by no means a $200 a night hotel. It has “Duluth South” in it’s name but it’s really in Proctor which is a bit of a drive from lots of places in Duluth proper.

This hotel is conveniently located in Proctor as you travel on US 2. The hotel is pet friendly, has a pool and a fantastic restaurant attached to it. I have stayed here several times in my travels and have never been disappointed by this facility. I also, learned on this trip, that there is a great kwik stop across the street with great quick breakfast options, snack food and a variety of good coffee options (hotel has the basic breakfast options and hotel coffee, which is not my favorite). make sure you book in advance as this place has been sold out on occasion.

This is a clean, convenient hotel just minutes from the freeway, but it is quiet and has lots of trees around it. Breakfast was tasty with plenty of options each day. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Parking lot was well lit and open so I felt safe walking in the dark.

It was very easy to get to and from the hotel to other areas of interest around Duluth. We stayed three nights and every morning had a unique hot breakfast item that was very tasty. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

Was really impressed with the cleanliness! Breakfasts were awesome with lots of delicious choices AND differed from each day. Waffles, breakfast burritos etc…. Very convenient to Duluth. Enjoyed the pool area and sauna, towels were placed on each chair which was an extra special touch.

Our stay at the AmericInn in Proctor MN was wonderful. I only wish the attached restaurant has late evening food options. We didn't get in until 9pm and the restaurant was closed. The staff at the hotel was super friendly. We will stay here again.
