Renaissance Philadelphia Downtown Hotel

Staff is friendly. Great location. Parking Garage next door for $32/day, so you don’t have to use valet if you don’t like the option.

Pros: The location of the property is fantastic. Easy walk to several historic locations. The lobby was welcoming and the check in was very smooth. Parking was near by and easy to access. Cons: The pool deck area was absolutely filthy. It appeared that it had not been cleaned in a long time. There are no depth markings by the pool, just a no diving" sign. If you have small children be sure to check out the water depth before they get into the pool. The light over the TV flickered. The room was for individuals, however there were only enough towels and hot beverage products for 2 people. The covering on the HVAC system was coming off. Be sure you get the room you requested, we requested a city view (high level) and we were given a park view first floor room. After traveling the day and checking into the room, I did not go to the front desk to request a changing the the room. By the time we were ready to shower, we realized we did not have enough towels. If you have children, I would avoid the pool area. Nothing worst than a dirty pool deck. When leaving the property, an owner with a small dog had her dog off the leash and was not under control of the animal. Non of the staff in the lobby said anything to the owner. This is not acceptable. I went to management when leavening and was told I should have said something when we arrived about the room location and light/HVAC covering in the room. She said she would look into the pool area.

Indoor pool left a lot to be desired. Picture is not an accurate depiction of the pool condition. Pool water was brownish and not circulating. Also bottom of pool concrete floor was chipped in a bad way.

We had a great stay at this hotel. Unfortunately, only one elevator was working, so that was a bit inconvenient. The staff was all wonderful! Many sights are within walking distance.

I’m sure everything was state of the art when it was made but it looks like nothing has been updated since then. Don’t get me wrong. The place is nice but the pool definitely needs updated parts of the bottom were cracking enough where you could possibly cut your feet they got rid of the hot tub that it shows online. I can’t speak for in between guests, but when we put the cleaning request placard on the door, none of the bedding was changed.

Room was large and comfortable. The location is fantastic for seeing the historical sites of Philadelphia. Rooms are priced on the higher end and valet can be used for about $50 per day including tax. Tip is extra but they are friendly and will load/unload your bags. I would stay here again.

One elevator was not working but no one was assisting guests as the other elevator would take a long time to return to first floor. Staff in general very friendly.

Pool was empty and under repair. That should be publicly announced and room rate discounted. Shower faucet was loose from the wall. No room service. No lobby market. This was just a very basic hotel that was painted to look nice.

The location is perfect and the staff was friendly. I appreciated that our room was cleaned every day without us having to ask for it. One major frustration was that there is no longer a hot tub despite the fact that they still include it in pictures. I would not have reserved this property if I knew it was no longer there as that was something my family was looking forward to. Additionally, the first night we ate dinner in the restaurant we weren’t given a children’s menu and assumed that meant they didn’t have one. It’s not uncommon that nicer restaurants don’t have one so we didn’t question it (admittedly our fault). My son ended up eating off our plates and just ordering soup. A couple of days later we saw there was a children’s menu on the display where you meet the host(ess). There had been people blocking it the first time we went so we never saw it. Why would the waiter not have provided one when we clearly had a child with us? Learn from our mistake and make sure you ask for the kids menu.

Rooms were clean, buttons on elevators would go in and out. Pool is closed indefinitely! have to pay a fee for wifi even if you use the “free” wifi. staff was welcoming though just the ownership is very poor

There was buildup of shampoo on the shower floor. The kind that would only happen if the room is rarely cleaned well. The toilet stopped working once and, even after 'fixed', it was still in poor condition. One of two elevators was out during our stay. The indoor pool was freezing cold and not clean. The service in the restaurant was atrocious. There was nobody there and I still couldn't get service. My wife asked for hot water for tea, was given some kind of hot brown water. After we asked what it was, the waitress said she was sorry and didn't know how to work the machine. Ok, but why not just say that instead of handing my wife whatever the hell came out of the machine without a word until we said something? The location is very good, but the hotel failed to deliver what was advertised on virtually every other level.

The room’s furniture was old and dirty. The Bathtub did not drain. There was an odor in the room. In overall, the hotel felt dusty and unkept.

Overall really bad. I checked in. First the main elevator was not working so i had to use the staff elevator. That’s fine.. no big deal. But i get up to the room, and there is no bathroom door and the bathtub/shower does not drain, the room smells really bad and the air conditioner is really loud. I asked for a new room, and they give me one. When I get into the new room, the bed was not made and it looked like someone had slept in it and it was not cleaned. So I ask for a new room. Finally get into the 3rd room, and it’s not so bad, still smells, but whatever I can deal with that.. go to take a shower and the water does not get hot.. stays at most slightly warm.. after a long day traveling. That’s just the worst feeling. At this point I am too tired to ask for a new room. overall just a really bad hotel. Not clean, smells and just not a nice environment. Bad experience.. I never do reviews… but I really had to make this review to indicate how bad this hotel.

Disappointing stay with this well known brand. Elevators smelt of urine, room smelt of weed. Location is very good. Manager was sympathetic with our complaints and handled the matter to our satisfaction in the end. Unfortunately I would not stay here again

Our stay at the Renaissance was average. The people were the best and the most helpful. Our room was average, it felt dark and unclean. The bathroom socket was not safely secured into the wall. There was mold in the shower. The beds were uncomfortable, we woke up both days with back pain due to how hard the beds were. We enjoyed being able to walk around the downtown and to be close to the Old City.

I checked my girlfriend and my mother into the hotel, and the woman at the front desk was clearly on some kind of narcotic; I've never seen someone be so violent with a computer keyboard or speak so quickly. She was rude and condescending to both my mother and girlfriend. My mother's hotel room had a couch in it that was very obviously covered in semen stains that hadn't been cleaned; we're talking "still crusted on". We had her moved to another room, and it was even worse; there were semen stains on the couch in the new room, the curtains, and a very obvious imprint on the window from where someone was pressed up against it, no doubt in some kind of intimate position. My girlfriend and I shared a room separate from my mother, and I had to personally repair the toilet and the sink drainage. I suppose I should be grateful I didn't have semen stains in our room... that we could see.

The carpet, chaise lounge, and cloth chair are stained and look disgusting. The staff were exceptional - very friendly and courteous. Check-in was a breeze.

Good area. However wlwvator got stuck on us. THEN- we went to our room. Room 503. Smelled awful. 1/4 of the carpet was soaked. They sent someone up. They said air conditioner leaked. Only room with 2 queen beds so we were stuck. Couldn’t walk around soaked carpet. And the smell was awful!!! Felt so dirty. Disappointed

The hotel was very clean. We used the gym and the pool. The interior design was very posh. We even ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant. A great hotel for the price. Plus it was in historic Philadelphia which made tourists trips very easy to plan and access. I would stay there again.

I enjoyed the moody look and vibe of this hotel. Our room was great, we actually had a water view and lots of windows. Very clean. The staff was really friendly and attentive. Our 2 negatives were the super loud room hvac and the mattress was kind of hard so we didn’t sleep well.

I read bad reviews after booking, but I still came and didn’t cancel. I made the right decision. The room was clean and spacious, there was hot water, the walls were solid — I didn’t hear any neighbors. I slept well and felt good here

Tub failed to drain. Staff addressed promptly, but still. Also, room oddly dark due to inadequate lighting.

It was a beautiful room with a great shower and terrific view. Super dog friendly. Hotel staff were nice and helpful. Cafe and restaurant very convenient in the morning in the hotel with a lot of great restaurants and sight seeing in the area while being walkable. Only drawback is the level of noise at night - the street noise was loud and every time someone on the floor slammed their door at night it was jarring and loud; for a light sleeper this was worth taking a star off and if I was a deep sleeper it would be 5 stars.

Location is great. Check in was easy and staff were friendly. The furniture is a little old and need update.

Lovely bar, lobby, entrance, restaurant and great staff. The cons are in the room itself where the furniture is old and worn and the finishes are a bit sloppy. It's extremely clean though and convenient and everything works perfectly just needs some new furniture, paint, and generally tighter construction finishes,

Property is nice. Rooms are nice. View is nice. Area is historic. Everything was good except two things. 1) the parking deck that they have available is only 6’4”. So if you have a truck, you won’t fit. Wish that was in the description somewhere telling me that. 2) there was no hot water in my room. Went to take a shower in the morning, the water never warmed up. Not even remotely close to be like warm. Other than that, really liked the hotel. Just a shame I have to give it the rating I am.

My husband and i arrived to the property at 10AM and check in was not until for but they were able to let us check in early and that was much appreciated

We had a great stay at the Renaissance. We came for a concert. We felt like the location was great. Easily accessible to restaurants , coffee etc. Our room was clean and had all the necessities to make our stay comfortable. The staff was beyond friendly and helpful.

It was a wonderful overnight stay at the Renaissance Philadelphia Downtown Hotel. The service was all exceptional. Smiling faces eager to help. The room was clean and roomy. The breakfast the next morning was delicious. The valet service has your car out front of the hotel ready for you..

The staff had a good attitude and tried to make our stay comfortable but overall they seemed to fail at some basic points such as cleanliness of the room and quality of service in the restaurant (except for the bartender who was very attentive and professional). The bathroom had not been completely cleaned when we received the room; the first day we went sightseeing the room had not been cleaned when returned. At no point were we asked if we wanted the room cleaned or told that we had to request cleaning. The beds were hard so we had to request extra blankets to put over the mattress. We had breakfast in the hotel each day and every day we had some bad experience with the service: the food was brought out incorrectly and when brought to their attention the server answered that's the best I can do and walked away. Management did correct the issue but that is not how a customers should be treated. The last day we were nearly late for a tour because it took 30 minutes for our breakfast to come out. We believe that it is a management issue more than staff. In the end we would not book at the same property despite the outstanding and convenient location. There is another hotel 2 doors down that we regret not having booked.

Very professional, friendly staff!

I've been unable to use my room for going on 6 hours. It was 75 degrees at check in and was so hot i had to leave. I notified the hotel and was told it would be fixed. I called again to say I'm just going to go to dinner and asked if after they changed the battery they could just check in to make sure it was working. I came back ave the room was 72 degrees. I called again and have been waiting on maintenance over 30 minutes. I even talked to the supervisor who said they send someone immediately, i called again and they don't know where he is or what to do. So I'm stuck in a hot room I've expressed multiple times is making me sick from the heat only to be ignored. I will never stay here again and I'll let everyone who will listen on every platform know what I've experienced. Absolutely and completely disgusting the way I've been treated at this location

Staff not very responsive to requests or accommodating. Very little friendliness or greeting by staff. Services such as pre- ordering breakfast is not even an option. Dining options/menu need major upgrade for the property.

Our stay stay was not as expected. Late night noise on our floor kept us up and staff didn’t do anything to resolve. At check out I voiced my concerns and staff member was completely dismissive of our concerns. Will not stay again very disappointed.

Close to historic area. Clean.

This is a great location that’s convenient to museums and the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall and the hop on hop off bus pickup locations. The staff is professional and courteous. We will be back!

Great location, friendly staff, good restaurants in the lobby.

A great location just a block away from Independence Hall! Easy parking at the garage next door. The hotel is clean, modern, and within walking distance of great bars, restaurants, and landmarks. I’ll be sure to stay here again next time I am in Philly!

Really enjoyed having the hotel close to museums so I could take a mid-day nap after walking/standing for 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the afternoon. Only down side is higher cost that I'm used to.

This hotel is walking distance to a lot of tourist destinations. It is a very nice hotel, and rooms are big. Check in and out was easy, and the staff was friendly.

Staff told me that I couldn’t order food at the bar because the kitchen was close. A couple sits down next to me and they take their order after telling me it was close

Location is fabulous for the sites. It is a good hotel, nothing extravagant. Room was nice and had everything you need. Wish the dining options within the hotel was more varied. But again, location is fabulous.

Very convenient area, close to major attractions, dining, shopping. Very walkable to most areas. Staff were incredible. Hotel could use a good scrub. My main complaint was the fact that I booked this specific hotel for the indoor pool for our 9yr old. The pool was disgusting. Strange skim on the surface of the water and it was cold. So pool was a no go. Would I go back to this hotel, yes, if it was only me and my husband. Not a great hotel if you’re traveling with kids(we needed a rollaway bed and they never had one available) we made it work with the chase lounge and a bunch of extra bedding, but definitely wasn’t the plan. Plan to eat somewhere else than the restaurant in the hotel. No kids menu. The only thing we could find for her to eat was the lobster Mac n cheese-minus the lobster though we were still charged full price as if it had the lobster. I told my kid, I hope you enjoy your $25 Mac n cheese. Just some things to consider. It’s just not a kid friendly hotel, but you’d most likely be happy there with adults only.
