We tried to check in an hour earlier on our way to White Sands National Park so we didn't have to go to the NP Visitors Center and then cone back to the hotel, but we had no luck in that endeavor. We w we re asked to come back at 4pm! Before we left we were asked whether we preferred lower or upper level room - we requested lower level. When we did eventually come back to check in, we were asked whether we preferred lower or upper level - ugh... anyway, we were assigned rokm 100, right by the main boulevard!!! When we asked for something else in the lower level, we were told room 100 was the last lower level room! Yes, it was noisy by the road. The EV charger on the premises was broken. For breakfast, we ordered off the classic menu, which was perfect!

Internet was intermittent; I had to keep restarting my tablet but my phone had no issues. Breakfast was good since it was cooked to order. The early bird dish was well done and filling. Note that they charge you if you bring a thermos or water bottle to fill with their coffee. The bed was super tall ( one foot high mattress and one foot high box spring on 6 inch platform.) the width is more double than queen and the length would be too short for av6 foot person. Overall the bed dimensions were disproportionate. A tall person can climb onto the bed easily but their feet would be dangling over the edges. The shower stall had no door, just a curtain. the shower curtain barely touched the shower base so the bathroom floor got wet after we showered. Thank goodness we were staying only one night. The gym equipment looked very ancient and belonged in a museum. We didn’t dare use them. The fitness center smelled rusty despite a floor fan being on around the clock.

Super friendly front desk staff was very welcoming. They have sleds for visitos going to white sands to use (all we ask is a please and thank you) and the lobby gift shop is extrnsive with some high quality items. Hot breakfast was a welcome surprise. I did not have time to try out the pool but hope to next time because yes i will return to this hotel!

Still had piles all over from dust storm weeks prior blamed it on lack of employees. Pool and hot tub were completely green and gross. Needs updates and better cleaning. Overall the breakfast was good.

Nice place! Would stay again. Allowed us to borrow sleds for White Sands. Nice large mini fridge in the room and nice big towels in the bathroom. Quiet. The pool was clean. John was very nice at check in, and the breakfast was warm and good.

Pros: The hotel was very nice. Rooms were clean. Staff great. Made to order breakfast was a big bonus! Convenient location. Cons: TV didn't work the two nights we were there. Issue with provider. WiFi was very weak. Ice Machine was far from room (closest one was out of service). We'd stay here again...

This is a nicely renovated old style motel - very well done. Nothing fancy just clean, quiet, comfortable, great decorating. The free breakfast is wonderful for a hotel - real food. Loved the breakfast burrito.

A very attractive building, decorated with colorful Pueblo motifs inside and out. Staff members were pleasant and helpful. Excellent breakfast provided from the menu in the restaurant. The room was spotless It was bigger than the usual chain room, with a desk and armchair. The minifridge (with freezer), microwave, and coffee maker were tidily stacked in a nook. The microwave and coffee maker sat on a shelf that was just the right height. Small closet space with shelf, and another space to the right with iron and ironing board. It was also perfect for our dog's dishes -- accessible but out of the way. We had only two complaints -- first, the wifi was appalling. It was never more than "poor," even at 5 in the morning, and dropped frequently. Second, the shower was the narrowest I've ever seen. It did have a grab bar, but that made it even narrower.

First time we have to pay extra for a glass of orange juice if you also want coffee. Not very friendly in that sense. Curtains did not fully close. We can see that they are making effort to be a nice place but are missing a few points. Disappointed after reading the other great reviews.

It was clean and quiet. A complete breakfast was included (with meat). It was the best hotel breakfast on our ten day road trip. Check in was fast and access to the room was easy. We appreciated a fast in and out, no hassle experience at a reasonable price. We like the old school privately owned hotels that are well kept like Desert Aire. Back up to the door and haul your junk straight into the room. No dragging coolers through lobbies and elevators and hallways. After all, we didn't fly half way across the country to waste time looking at hotels, did we? I would have given five stars except for one thing. The air conditioning unit in our room made a particularly unpleasant and random whooshing noise that disturbed everyone's sleep. The staff seemed honestly concerned when I reported it the next morning and I believe that it will be addressed and that other rooms would not have this same issue. Still, a poor night's sleep is a poor night's sleep. We didn't really hear it until everyone was settled, and then, unfortunately, it became the only thing anyone could hear.

When I checked in the man working at the front desk alerted me of a dust storm approaching the next day at noon. We were able to alter our trip plans and went earlier to White Sands NP. Had he not let me know, we would have arrived in the afternoon for the sunset as planned and we would have been miserable. We had already finished hiking and we were able to take cover for the storm. We enjoyed our stay and we hope to get back this way soon.

This hotel is in need of more hospitable staff. The hotel is a little run down compared to others. I didnt like that the bathroom window didnt have a curtain. The water temperature is not consistant so be careful as it will go from scolding hot to ice cold. The bed was hard and hurt my back. Check in went smoothly but was slow. The waitress at the breakfast area was rude and unattentive. When we arrived at breakfast she didnt acknowledge us nor did she approach us to take our order. When I informed her we were ready to order she said rudely ill be with you in a minute. She then proceeded to clean 4 tables and check out another table. Then she finally came to us without any apology and asked what we wanted. They were slow to make our food probably because we were using the free breakfast vouchers. When I went to check out the lady at check out seemed like i was bothering her as she was having a conversation with another employee. Then when I asked for a receipt she rudely said expedia will send it. I then explained to her that I made payment at the hotel and that I would like the receipt.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at the Classic Desert Aire Hotel! Rooms were very comfortable and the staff was outstanding. We would definitely stay there again when we go back to Alamogordo.

Melanie at the front desk was awesome at check in. She does a great job. The server in the cafe was incredible as well. Overall it was a good experience, but we were on the ground floor, and it sounded like the circus was unloading above us. I was woken up at 7:30 AM with banging and slamming and stomping that went on for almost an hour. I was never able to go back to sleep. I realize the hotel isn't responsible for the loud guests above us, but it was so loud that it is hard to believe that there is any soundproofing there whatsoever. I hope no one else has this experience because everything else was good.

We had a great stay here! The complimentary breakfast was nice and got us going for the day. There are also lots of fast food options nearby if you’re looking for something quick to eat. The location is super convenient—White Sands National Park is only about 20 minutes away, and the hotel even lent us sleds to use at the dunes for free, which was such a fun bonus! It’s also very pet-friendly. There’s a $50 cleaning deposit if you bring pets, but they return it if the room is left clean, which is fair. The pet fee is $15 per pet per night. New Mexico in general is very pet-friendly, and this hotel definitely added to that experience. The staff members were all so friendly and welcoming, which made our stay even better. Overall, I’d definitely recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the area!

I have stayed in the Classic Desert Aire Hotel a few times now, and every time has been wonderful. The staff is very friendly, the rooms spotless, and the included breakfast a treat. Close to White Sands and not far from Cloudcoft, it makes for a perfect spot to explore this area. Highly recommended!

Jesse, Jordan, and John made the stay particularly memorable. Guests are treated like friends and they go above and beyond to make sure you're taken care of and equipped to enjoy White Sands and the surrounding area. Best made to order hotel breakfast deal I've ever had as well.

Very dated. Curtains didn’t close properly so light coming in at top from outside. Can’t comment on the breakfast as had to wait 20 min for table even though three were empty but not yet cleaned. Once seated we waited another 20 min and still no one came to offer us coffee or tea or take our order. We finally left as had to get on the road. Not sure providing breakfast cooked to order is such a good idea when you only have one waiter!

This property is wonderful. Every staff member is incredibly friendly. The rooms are very clean and quiet. The included cooked to order breakfast was a welcome change from the hotel breakfasts we’d been having as we traveled cross country. The breakfast burrito was delicious. Even the giant dog biscuit they gave our dog was a cut above the standard biscuit. I wish we’d had time to borrow a sled to play at White Sands! Thanks for the very pleasant stay!

Convient location. Easy to find. Front desk staff were welcoming/kind. Guest get vouchers for free breakfast and can upgrade to the paid options if desired. Breakfast is still standard hotel fare that one would find in a hotel breakfast buffet- fake eggs, lackluster flavor EXCEPT you have to wait to be served- this part was kind of annoying because there was one wait person and the food took awhile to come out. Really not worth it if you wanted to get on with your day. Overall rooms were comfortable. It was hot and AC was loud, but when it kicked off you definitely felt the heat. older building so that showed as well but I would stay again and would recommend.

It was nice to have several fairly hearty breakfast options free of charge. However, the food tended to arrive at the table cold to luke warm. The large, accessible room was great. Although the shower curtain was too short. So, the shower sprayed a lot of water on the bathroom floor.

I am pretty easy to please, but I was fairly annoyed with this stay. The property is old and most issues probably relate to that. After moving all of our gear into the room, we noticed that the curtains wouldn't close completely, leaving an 8" gap. We used safety pins to close them. Hot water for showers was hit or miss. Sometimes the water was hot. At other times it was only lukewarm. There were not enough electrical outlets for us to charge our electronics. I got a power strip to deal with this. The breakfast was not very good and was confusing. My wife got charged for things she assumed were free.
