DoubleTree by Hilton Schenectady Downtown

I liked the fitness room and swimming pool. I did not like that that late check out is only very limited possible (till 1pm). The food is ok but a poor variability. E.g. I asked for a yogurt every morning (4 times) and it was not possible to get one. Cleanliness: the windows are very dirty... I however would come again to the hotel as overall service and performance is ok.

Seems ok. Rooms were a bit small and the bathrooms smaller. Satellite TV wasn’t working too well and one of the elevators was out of service. Nothing great and nothing bad but not sure I’d visit again vs a Hampton inn instead.

Everyone was super friendly. The room was comfortable and quiet. I did chose this hotel over another because your fitness facility looked like it had more. However, the left side of the cable machine was broke and there were only 3 attachments to it( 2 handles I had to fix and a bar that couldn’t be used) and the Peloton wouldn’t connect. I will be traveling to Albany more often and would like to stay again if the equipment in the fitness center is fixed.

Need more parking spots. Coming in late there were very few parking spots left

There's a lot of time wear in the building.... the laundry facility was pretty dirty.... The heat and the ice machine in the laundry room of facility did not work.... The shower set up in my room leaves a lot to be desired.. The knob to turn the shower on is on the opposite end of the open door.. So when you turn the shower on you get bombarded with cold water. Bad design.

It was a very nice and comfortable stay. I was hoping to use the pool in the morning, but the area around the pool was not cleaned. Coffee cups lying around, somebody's clothes were laid out. There were no towels. The filter for the pool did not seem to be on. Sadly, I decided not to go into the water.

Parking was limited and not guaranteed.

We could not find parking for our vehicle 🙁

The staf was wonderful, minus the desk clerk that received my call about the lamp and outlet between my bed not working. When I called back that evening, Imani sent someone right away. The drinks were ok, dinner; our fries were cold and although we were the only ones in the dining area, food took a long time. Breakfast wasn't good at all. The heater was filled with caked on dust that blew out everywhere. At first I was able to regulate the thermostat (on auto) then it blew non-stop literally burning my eyes from the dust. The room wasnt cleaned well upon arrival, but not terrible. The pool wasnt heated but they were trying to work on it. The lobby was very nice as well. Unfortunately, I wont stay there again

Good. The handicap accessible room we had booked wasn’t one of the reserved rooms, but thankfully, staff found one for us. Not so good. The closest elevator was out of service, and we had a wheelchair.

Staff didn’t greet me and room was dirty

Very disappointed with this hotel stay. Elevators didn’t work, room smelled, AC hummed loudly, tub didn’t drain, loose electrical socket in the bathroom and dirty towel was left hanging from the shower curtain rod from previous guest.

The sheets, rags, and towels had stains on them. The sink was dirty. They did not do a thorough cleaning.

Room was smaller than expected. Bathroom needs an intense deep clean. Room needs updates. Chipped paint on ceiling. Staff was great

My room hadn't been dusted in months. Nasty hard water stains on shower door. Something splattered on bathroom door. Broken glass on bathroom floor. Manager did change rooms. Much cleaner.

The hotel was extremely clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Bed covers had stains and i didnt discover this until we were leaving because iit was well hidden towards the bottom from the footside

Room smelled like cigarettes and we found two items from previous guest. A photo and hair tie on the ground.

Clean, modernized room and bath, on the small side, but comfortable.

Overall nice clean hotel . Need to update tvs so you can use streaming services. Need to update website about complimentary breakfast and late check out .

The only complaints I had were the alarm clock was very dim and I wasn't able to brighten it. Plus, the room didn't have a refrigerator.

Not in a good area, rooms were too small.

It’s a great property great location my only complaint would be the hallway is so narrow you would think the guest next door an across the hall was in the room with you.

Our first night started out quietly, but twice between 3 AM and 8 AM there were loud conversations happening in the hallway outside our rooms.

The front staff on arrival was fine - friendly and competent. The warm chocolate chip cookies were lovely and perhaps the best part of the stay. The room was strange (barn-style sliding door for bathroom, odd nooks with no apparent purpose) but just fine. Very clean. The bad parts: climate control was inoperable; we could not shut the fan off and it was very noisy. The switch on the unit was broken and the thermostat had no effect on either the temperature or the fan's running. The worst was that the electrical outlets on the night table between the beds were intermittently defective. Plugs didn't fit in, just rattled. I use a CPAP and after managing to get the plug in a position that produced power to the unit, at 2:40 am it suddenly stopped, necessitating my getting up and messing with it until I finally had to string the cord over to a wall outlet and stretch it over to the bed. When I checked out and let the front staff person know what the issues were, he was polite but offered only a short verbal apology. Considering that the rate was quite high (about $190 for one night) and the problems were pretty severe, I really thought that some sort of compensation would have been nice - even just a coupon or something similar.

Beautifully designed rooms. Very quiet. Beds were very comfortable (slept till 10 am). Helpful staff. Fire alarm was extra entertainment…at least not in the middle of the night!

Unfortunately, when I arrived, they did not have a booking for me. They told me they had it for the day before the lady at the counter was rude saying it’s not her fault that the booking was incorrect. They had to rebook my room use my credit card to hold and I am currently waiting for a manager to contact me in regards to a refund because I had already booked through you with a confirmation number.

Though the room was small and the bathroom door was a sliding barn door, overall it was extremely clean and quiet. The staff was always willing to answer any questions. The elevator broke down and it was fixed within a few hours. They were always making sure the guests were comfortable.

Staff was friendly and they had warm cookies at check in. The food at the restaurant/bar was very good! The bartender was awesome with great service!

I was visiting my daughter at Union College. This location is so convenient. I could walk to the school if I wanted. And I walked to Jay street to check out the shops and restaurants. Everything was clean, and the customer service was always on point. Very friendly and helpful. The service in the restaurant was particularly awesome. The staff goes out of their way to make guests feel taken care of. Well done!

The hotel is perfect. I would give 5 stars but our stay started off very rocky with the front desk clerk. We drove hours and got there late. After waiting for a while with no one at the desk, we finally got someone to come to the desk. He may be the rudest person I have ever encountered in any setting. Thankfully we booked with no option of refund so we moved forward with our stay at the hotel. The rest of the staff was incredibly friendly and the hotel was perfect. I hope the gentleman working the desk that night doesn’t deter others from staying there. I was very disappointed in his behavior.

Every staff, collin to jason to Ryan was knowledgeable, helpful and made the stay exceptionally....The entire team wokred together for a perfect guest stay. Highly recommend and will book again when in NY

Overselling rooms so my family was unable to attain the room we had reserved. We wanted 2 beds for three of us and we were told we could only get one bed with a roll out bed. When we arrived at the room there was only one bed available.

I was visiting my daughter at Union College. This location is so convenient. I could walk to the school if I wanted. And I walked to Jay street to check out the shops and restaurants. We picked this hotel to be able to park easily and be walking distance to downtown. For that it met our expectations and the bed was comfortable. Not a fan of the heavy sticky bathroom sliding door.

Check in staff was not very helpful but cleaning staff was great. Did allow us to check in early. Area around the hotel was a bit run down but now far from nicer areas.

Clean and nice property. Not a great town.

We were riding on the Canalway trail and this hotel is just a few blocks away. Very convenient for us.

enjoyed the sunday farmers market which was within walking distance. recommend Ambition Coffee for breakfast.

Sketchy area, was a ghost town inside, they advertise food being available but the restaurant was absolutely deserted at dinner and breakfast. Paid for breakfast and there was no one there at all, front desk said I could order off the menu but it was clear that was going to be some sort of microwave situation bc there was NO ONE THERE. Nice lobby, nice gym, but I only saw one other woman there, it was all men and military. Front desk was nice when I interacted with them, but the hallway was under construction near my room, with room doors open. Wouldn’t stay there again, would probably find a less expensive, newer place in the Albany area?

We liked that the staff was very friendly, the restaurant served 3 meals, and it was a convenient location to our destination of Union College. We did not like that the surrounding area felt unsafe and the restaurant's seating was stained.

Called in before hand to confirm my late check in which was around 1230am and was assured that the time was fine and also confirmed that breakfast was free/included. This is my second time staying at a DoubleTree, Binghamton was my first (great experience). I check in and the front desk told me breakfast was not included and I was misinformed. Not the same welcoming experience as Binghamton, and no cookies which I thought was the hotels primary niche. It was late so we get to our room (my wife and toddler) thought we would just follow up in the morning. Morning comes same thing and they confirm breakfast is a la carte and not included. The interesting thing was we were not the only ones ill informed. Two other families during breakfast I overheard having the same issue with the misinformation. We ordered anyway since we were there already. Breakfast was 1/10 and I can’t say anything good about it. Very pricey for what you get, two plates and coffee for $50+ included tip. We sat ourselves as no one was really tending to guests and there were only two servers. Finally acknowledged and the orders took a while to come out and one order came out incorrect. Waitress resolved very promptly though. There was one nice reception, I cannot recall her name but very sweet and welcoming who assisted with extra toiletries since they didn’t replace them when the bed was made. Also provided extra bedding for our toddler since the first night was rough for him.

My room was very comfortable. I was there 3 days and they cleaned all the days and gave me fresh linens. The in house bar the food taste amazing and the bar tender is personable.

Excellent breakfast with best and biggest fruit cup we’ve ever had. Electric outlets over desk and in bathroom were not energized even after recycling the GFIs, but other outlets met our needs. Great exhaust ventilation in the nice step in shower. All personnel were very cordial and helpful when called upon. While the hotel is 40 minutes from Saratoga Springs, it is a hugely better value than paying the exorbitant prices near the northern attractions.

Getting food from the on-site restaurant was horrible. Waitress was left to console customers, we finally left after 25 minutes and being told we were 3rd in line for getting our food - scrambled eggs, bacon and toast
