Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Christiansburg by IHG

I arrived driving a 45 foot RV. They said that I could not park there due to construction. They had not ever worked out an alternate location with parking lots near them. The parking was very limited to begin with even with the lot being empty. They arranged for me to get a room at a sister hotel a block a way. When I requested that one of the female staff to follow me to show her where I thought I could park. (The manager was not present on the property.) she stated that I was ordered to leave the property. When I asked her again to follow me to see if there was a place, she said she was calling the police. then she walked away toward the hotel lobby talking to me but I could not hear her. (This female was short to medium height, long black hair and in her 30's,) I went to the front desk to talk to another lady who explained how she had already confirmed a reservation for me and how to get a refund from hotels.com (excellent) P.S. I had stayed at this property in June with the same construction issue but was able to park the RV on the property with no problem. A young staff member in his 20s was standing by this entire time. And I walked off he stated that I wasn't at this property during construction. I believe I was there the night of June 16th.

The pool is broken which is why we booked. Its been broken for a while. Staff stated they have asked hotels.com to take pool off of there.

The only problem was that the indoor pool was too cold. Breakfast and everything else was decent.

Some areas of the hotel were still under renovation. One of our rooms had a sheet tacked to the window instead of blinds. Common areas poorly lit and in need of some additional cleaning attention. Parking lot filled with construction materials. Had to park across the highway at a church. Just would’ve been nice to be aware that the renovations weren’t complete.

Decent hotel, but the indoor pool was too cold. Free breakfast was ok.

Fitness center was in good condition with adequate equipment.

Parking was tight, looks like there was construction going on there

Pool is closed for construction but no advanced notice. When I mentioned I was not aware, they said “ because you booked through hotels.com”. Floors were so dirty, our feet and socks were turned black. The phone was not plugged in. The TV remote batteries were dead. There was a group of smokers/drinkers in the parking lot with chairs. Weird. The breakfast was good

The property is under construction. The room was clean and serviceable. I am sure that once the construction is complete one wall of the lobby won’t be plywood and the outside of the building will be cleaned up and not covered with scaffolding. All the staff I interacted with were helpful and pleasant.

We were unaware that the Hotel was under construction, which I understand, and I understand using all your rooms to offset remodel costs. What I do not understand is how they expect their guests to park with all of the construction equipment, metal storage containers, and pallets of materials taking up most of the parking spaces. The first night we were there we were fine as far as parking goes, but were informed to keep our spot as long as possible because they were having people park across the 4 lane highway at the church, and guests were having to walk across the highway. Our second night we arrived back at the hotel to find no spots available and cars blocking other cars and parking wherever there was “space”. We went in to talk to the front desk and they advised that we would have to find somewhere on property to park, and that they did not have any overflow parking. When we brought up the church we were advised to park at, they said we would be towed from there or the RV lot next door. They advise us to call these other places because they were not responsible. It’s also worth mentioning the room itself was clean, but the bathroom was disgusting, the shower didn’t look like it had been cleaned, the tub spout was leaking, and there was a mysterious red goop that was stuck to the floor.

Very dated facility. Mold in caulking in shower and disgusting rusty mess around toilet base. Could feel springs in bed and the room smelled old and musty.

The good, breakfast had nice choices. The bad, the room was hot and smelled of mildew when we arrived. Even though it was in the 80's no fan or a/c was on and the room was hot, stuffy and smelled of mildew. The a/c unit is in need of a good cleaning or something. The ugly, there were pieces of tortilla chips on the carpeting by the bed from the previous guest...disgusting. The sink vanity had something sticky on it. The housekeeper should be fired. Will never stay there again.

Overall, our stay was good! Our room was clean and the rest of the hotel was as well.

The rooms were very nice, furniture seemed brand new. nice bathrooms too, very high shower head, so tall people will appreciate that. the staff at the hotel were all incredibly kind and helpful

They are upgrading the rooms. I am on the 4th floor which has been upgraded and the room is very nice compared to the last time I stayed here.

The hotel was clean and in the process of being updated, but the drapes in are room were hung with dry wall screws so it made the operation of using them impossible to let light in. All in all staff was friendly and check in/out was seem less and made me feel my business was appreciated.

So, I normally don’t do semi-negative reviews, but…in this case, I feel like I have to say something. First off, I paid a lot of money for the room, I realize that it was Homecoming weekend at Virginia Tech, but I’ve stayed at nicer Holiday Inns for much less. I paid for a room with 2 queen size beds, I got a room with a king size bed and a pull out sofa. The interior is in dire need of a face lift, for all I know, this site could be on a list of scheduled interior renovations. There are no USB ports in the rooms, something that is now standard in most hotel rooms, and several electrical outlets were not working. That said, the customer service was outstanding, I personally witnessed the staff handling a difficult guest with the utmost professionalism, and as a retail manager, I was most impressed.

Everything was fantastic, comfy bed, clean room, but the A/C was extremely loud in the room.

Room was spacious with 2 chairs! TV was very small for size of room and we needed maintenance to turn it on as there was no signal. Maintenance man was very responsive and quickly resolved issue. Bathroom tub was extremely slippery and there was nothing to hold on to. Recommend either grab bars or roughing up tub bottom. Otherwise it was a nice comfortable, clean room.

Even though the hotel is rehabilitating the property, the staff is responsive, friendly, and well-trained. Oh, and breakfast is good as well.

When I asked the attendant she rudely told me she was out, not offering an alternative. I went to the front desk and the attendant was more than nice to offer bottled water and offered us more afterwards.

Clean and friendly professional staff

Staff is beyond nice and accommodating. The tooms are nice and clean. The brrakfast was very nice as well. Only complaint, coffee needsto be a little stronger.

When we checked in, the lady was nice. There was an issue with the vending machine later that evening, and when I went to speak to the new person in the evening, she acted like she hated being there. Was way over priced for the value. Walls are paper thin. Didnt sleep well at all. Was happy they had gluten free options for breakfast.

The listing mentioned that there are cribs available. I booked this property specifically because a crib would be provided. Upon arrival from a long road trip with an infant, I’m told “don’t believe everything you read on Expedia” Very unprofessional and unapologetic. Lacking empathy of someone who wants a place to rest late at night. Completely unacceptable behavior.

The check in staff was so friendly and professional! Room was really clean and well equipped. Breakfast was delicious! Will definitely stay here again.

Convenient to Virginia Tech

Stayed here one night as my child was graduating from a nearby university. The location is right off I-81 and about 15 minutes drive from Virginia Tech and Radford universities. Although considered a value hotel, the room and facilities were very clean. The person at the front desk was very cordial during check-in and checkout. And was fortunate to get early check-in around noon. The king suite was nice sized and had a sleeper sofa. In the bathroom, the shower was hot and had good pressure. The complimentary breakfast had a decent selection of hot and cold choices.

Convenient from the highway and the price was within our budget.

The bed was comfortable , quiet , room was cooled amazing staff. Breakfast was hot and cold. I woke up thinking I hope I’m not waking up for just cereal. Egg and sausage options pancakes a variety of juices. 10/10 will book again.

My friend and I have stayed here many times on our way to Nashville. Friendly staff, clean lobby. Breakfast always has a wonderful selection of foods. The room was clean. Beds are comfortable. Clean sheets and towels. Smaller TV than we have seen. Clean bathroom.
