SureStay Hotel by Best Western Christiansburg Blacksburg

We have stayed here several times while visiting our son at Virginia Tech. Its close to campus and close to shopping and restaurants. Its clean and parking is always well lit, staff is always friendly.

The washing machine and dryer were broken

No AC downstairs in lobby and hall. Elevator broken and 2nd floor room No 1st floor rooms available. 3 elderly women have to walk up stairs with bags. Room dirty. Animal hair in shower. Dog treats on floor.

Staff were very nice. However, the elevator is still not fixed, linens on beds didn’t seem fresh. I ended up using my own. Humid hallway and it smelled stuffy, nit fresh. Continental breakfast was extremely limited abs the coffee was horrible. I couldn’t even drink it. Apparently I stay at this hotel in 2021 overnight. It was much better back then in my opinion.

The beds were great and we all slept well. We were in town for college tours and stayed two nights. The kitchenette was between the two beds and was made up of a mini fridge, microwave, designated counter and sink. It was nice as it kinda gave mom & dad, and teenage daughter their own spaces. Breakfast was so so. Cold cereal, granola bars, oatmeal packets, bagel, yogurt, coffee, juice. They did have frozen breakfast burritos (egg, cheese, and bacon) or Jimmy Dean sausage egg and cheese biscuit sandwiches. I was very annoyed as there was a computer available for guests with a printer. I needed to print an email and the computer took twenty minutes to start up (updates and what not). Then it was soooo slow getting to the website. When I finally had what I needed to print, the printer wasn't listed. Inspecting it closer, it didn't have a printer cable! By then I had spent 45 minutes and had enough so I just left it alone, figuring I'd just print it at our next stop on our college tour. Definitely not a business center someone could use though. All in all, other than the printing issue, we had a good stay. Staff was quiet but friendly. If I was in the Blacksburg/Christiansburg/Radford area, I'd stay there again.

Indoor corridors are always a must for rainy weather! The only thing that was awkward was the luggage carts - both the ones I used had problems rolling - something to do with the wheels.

The people who work here are nice and the room and lobby are clean. The gym has broken equipment and a water dispenser with no water. While clean, the common areas could benefit from proactive touch ups and upgrades.

Easy parking, close to shopping and food service, driving distance to Virginia Tech.

The elevator and air conditioning were both out of order. It was 92 degrees outside, so that made it very uncomfortable inside the building. I also called ahead to request a room on the first floor because one of the children in my party had recently had ACL surgery and was in a leg brace. I was told this wouldn’t be a problem. I was not made aware of the broken elevator and was told at check in the now only room left was on the third floor. I called for a refund and was denied because we stayed the night. We checked in at 10 pm and were not aware of all the issues. I feel like they should have at least offered a partial refund.

The front desk was very helpful and pleasant. The room was clean enough, but just old. The bathroom also had some rust but it wasn’t dirty. Since it’s a pet friendly hotel, they could use some more outside areas to walk them (on leash). The breakfast, while free, wasn’t good. All processed junk basically.

It was fine. Some of the bath towels were dirty, which was not appealing at all, and some were the pillowcases were a little dirty too.

Two people in our party were bitten by bedbugs or some other creature on their arms, legs, and backs both of the two nights of our stay. The bites are huge, red, and itchy and both of them had to buy Zyrtec to combat the effects. This is very disappointing as either the sheets weren’t washed or cleaned properly to eliminate these bugs.

The cleanliness was outstanding. Nothing I didn't like. Staying there again on my return trip home in early May.

We could not stay at this hotel. We left after looking at two different rooms on different floors. Both rooms had wrinkled sheets on the beds. The first room had a stained pillowcase and trash on the floor. The second room had a cockroach leg on the bed and hair on a wrinkled pillowcase. These rooms did not look like they had been cleaned or taken care of. It was not a place that I wanted to sleep or my kids to sleep.

Room was not cleaned or towels replaced for 3 days despite my daily requests to hotel staff to do so. The room also had an unpleasant odor. Will not return.

The phone did not work and I had to go with my Pjs to ask a question about the parking of my car. The bed sheets had a yellowish stain and that made me uncofortable and the AC when it was "ON" it had a strange smell. Maybe they have not change the filter for a while. When I checked out, I made the observation. Hopefully, they fix it for the next person. All to say I did not still all well. Thank you

Found bed bugs in the first room we were given.

For the price we paid for the room we were a little disappointed. Zero room cleaning during the weekend. Old coffee grounds from previous occupant left in the coffee maker in the room.

The rooms was clean and the staff was friendly!!

Pros: Quiet property; low amount of surrounding traffic Cons: Room was older and had mildew issues in shower area; laundry and gym hours were not conducive.

Room was clean, very basic and very small for 2 people. It advertised a queen bed but it was more like a double bed. The bathroom was clean but showed its age (rusting around the toilet paper holder), shower head would not adjust. Front desk personnel were friendly and helpful.

Tiny room. Towels were worn. Thin walls. Could hear the guy next door snoring

I stayed for a football weekend. The hotel decor in the rooms is quite dated but the beds were comfortable. I did not eat the free breakfast but they had hot tea available all day. The room seemed to be well insulated from hallway noise. We were in the back of the hotel which is adjacent to the highway, there was some noise from that.

No refrigerator

My husband and I were pleased with SureStay. It is a budget hotel and that's what we were expecting. The beds were very comfortable and everything was clean. The room was large enough to fit our large dog crate in (we chose SureStay because it is dog friendly.) The only thing that was disappointing was the lack of a refrigerator. They do have an ice machine on the first floor, though, and luckily we had brought a cooler, so we were fine. We would stay here again. The front desk staff were very kind and friendly.

Overall, it was fine. The main reason I stayed there was price. It was quiet, which I appreciate. The room itself, a single queen bed, was pretty small. And the overhead fluorescent lighting, and the small TV hung in the upper corner of the room seriously reminded me of a hospital room Some lamps and a decent size TV would definitely upgrade the room.

Only one complain - noisy AC in our room, but for two nights stay it was ok.

While the property is a little dated, it does the trick if you need a place to sleep and shower. The staff were very friendly and the continental breakfast was convenient. Because the backside of the building faces route 460, there's a lot of vehicle noise that penetrates the air conditioners. I would highly recommend a unit on the front side of the building.

Room too small. Bed too small. HVAC went on and off and too loud and too close to bed. Pillows were too high and uncomfortable. No USB outlets anywhere in the room.

Pretty average room. Lighting situation was not great, no bedside lamps, so it was either bright or dim from the little light by the window seat. Bathroom was handicapped, (definitely didn't ask for that) do no counter at all, and walk in shower with a bench. Bedding was kinda of thin, but it was clean.

Personable attendant, but the room was 85 degrees when I got there.

Room/building okay. Staff friendly.

Difficult check in. Took hours.

I was unable to travel because of a family emergency and they refused to refund my payment. I gave them 3 days notice and they still would not work with me. They said I could transfer my stay to another date, a week later, but the cost went up $600. I will never stay with this hotel chain again.

The staff was helpful and room was clean. Got there around midnight and check in was easy. The breakfast choices were good but coffee wasn’t the best.

The gentleman who checked us in was awesome. Friendly, helpful, and accommodating.

Place is terrible! Wasn’t told until I got to the property that it’s an extra $50 fee for early check in and that was after she told me the rooms were ready. Charging $50 to just go in and drop my suitcase is ridiculous! My parents room was flooded and all they did was put towels down. Never offered to move them to another room. My room the toilet handle was broken and the shower dial to turn the water on was broken. Never again!! Manager submitted our complaints to the former owner for possible reimbursement being that I booked under the former owner’s

Great stay! Although make sure you get out of the hotel quickly during checkout— people knocked on our doors every hour starting at 7am on the day we were set to leave. For annoying very quickly

Staff could be more friendly. The first day, the clerk who checked me in was very friendly and nice and gave me suggestions on which restaurants to dine at. After that for rest of my stay, I was not acknowledged at all.

Good location to Virginia Tech. Very friendly staffs. We would come back.

Safe, convenient location & polite staff. Breakfast was a little sparse, and we didn’t expect the level of traffic noise. If we return I’m hoping to get a room at the back of the building. Parking was great and there are SO MANY food options nearby.

The hotel is in a nice location. There are numerous food and shopping options nearby, and most importantly, it is less than 10 minutes away from Virginia Tech.

We had a nice uneventful overnight stay. We make this trip a few times a year and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again, even though we have to drive a couple miles out of the way to get there. Our preference is closer to I-81, but the price was right. A few minute walk to some food options (we chose Jersey Mike’s).

Quiet! And so close to interesting dining options! Worth the mile or so away from the main highway.

Clean, convenient, and a nice breakfast with lots of options (but all self-serve -- not a hot buffet or anything like that). Great value for a nice, clean stay.

The breakfast bar was very minimal, no cooked or warm foods. Bed slept fine, a lot of room noise from others there during the night. I would say it was just an average room with no extra amenities. Clean but not extra clean. No real complaints other that breakfast was very disappointing. It served the purpose of our one night.
