Comfort Inn Ruther Glen near Kings Dominion

Only problem was the AC unit was leaking inside the room. A third of the carpet was soaked. Notified management upon check out. Hopefully the can fix it and replace the carpet. Otherwise perfect location for our travels.

PROS Our experience was good the clerk was very friendly, the room was cleaned & smell good, the pool was clean, the breakfast was immaculate & the food was delicious. CONS The ice machine wasn't working & hand sanitizer machine was empty on the third floor. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay there.The room was great for the price.

I regret booking two rooms here for my family, even as just a stop to sleep over night. Its the grossest place iv ever stayed. As we walked through the hallway, because the elevators did not work it smelled awful dirty and musty. The pool looked slimy and nasty. The room light did not turn on…the only working light was one wall scone and the bathroom light. The tv did not turn on. Mind you i was with two children thankfully they had their tablets. My daughter put her hand on the front of the sink in the bathroom and the whole piece came falling off nearly hitting her little toes. This place needs to be knocked down and rebuilt. I do not recommend this place to any one.

Under construction with no elevator

Everything was fine except the elevator was not working. The person working the front desk found us a room on the first floor which was much appreciated.

I don’t know how the reviews here are so low! We had the suite room with 2 double beds and a pullout couch. Our room and bathroom were great and clean. Bed was comfy. The only issue we had was the pullout couch mattress and frame were broken. But it’s ok! We had brought an twin size air mattress anyway. The room had plenty of space for us to do that. Breakfast was good. Pool was open. Great place to stay for a good price!

Elevator was broken, I got the feeling it has been for quite a while.

The pool was closed for maintenance. My grandson was so disappointed. Breakfast was ok.

Pros: great location, easy to get to off of the highway. Comfy beds. Cons: The hotel is updated but poorly constructed and maintained. There is a huge ant infestation at the main door and the side door. We mentioned this to management and were ignored. Our room was on the second floor and the elevator is broken so access to the second floor is by stairs only. We chose this hotel specifically for the indoor “heated pool”. This was something we were really looking forward to after a 7 hour drive. The pool was ice cold and our child didn’t swim for more than 10 minutes. Breakfast was a typical offering but the area was a mess. We came down fairly early and floor looked as if it hadn’t been mopped in a week with obvious dried spills from the previous day(s). When we checked out we waited around for almost 10 minutes and another guest was already waiting for help before we came down. Apparently the person at the front desk was also the person trying to run the breakfast area. I wouldn’t necessarily say the staff was unfriendly but no one smiled, not one apology for any inconvenience, and no offer of assistance. The hotel certainly did not feel welcoming. We will definitely not stay here again.

The room was dirty, old food was under the pull out couch, the room smelled like mold, the towels were dirty (grayish color), and there was a roach crawling on the table.

The hotel was very clean. The rooms were very nice and clean as well! Would definitely stay again!

Room was not clean, smell like mold in mildew, shower was dirty. Had to place a towel on the floor of the tub to shower. sheets and towels not white. They’re brown like they don’t use bleach. Openings in the Ptac causing bugs to come into the room. beds was very uncomfortable could feel every spring when check the mattress they were extremely dirty.

I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the condition of the property during my recent stay. Unfortunately, the cleanliness and overall state of the accommodations did not meet acceptable standards. We encountered roaches, safety concerns, and a bathroom that appeared not to have been cleaned in weeks. Additionally, the towels and linens were dingy, torn, and uninviting. Due to these issues, my family was unable to enjoy our stay, and we felt uncomfortable enough to check out a day early. We also chose not to partake in the provided breakfast due to concerns about cleanliness. Given the disruption, dissatisfaction, and financial loss caused by this experience, I am respectfully requesting a full refund for the stay.

Front desk staff very nasty attitudes. The towels were not white they were actually grey and brown. They did not clean the rooms through out our 4 day stay. I definitely would not stay at this location again.

The bathroom had hair on the floor & the sheets had black spots on them. You could hear every noise

Couldn't get the tv to work and mentioned it to the front desk and they didn't take care of the problem. The shower door wouldn't stay closed, resulting in water on the bathroom floor. Wash cloth wasn't clean and the overall cleanliness wasn't very good.

The staff were friendly and check in was easy but the beds were very small and the pillows were tiny.

This hotel was okay. The elevators were out of service for the duration of our stay. We upgraded to a “suite” with a pull out couch, which was a mistake. The ancient, lumpy, bumpy pull-out had a stained and gross mattress and was so uncomfortable. We had to hunt down linens and pillows (there were no extras for the pull out in the room). We had a reaction to something in the room that left us stuffy and feeling like a cold was coming on, but we were all fine once we left the room. The lemon water in the lobby was not changed during our entire weekend stay. Eww. The pool was very warm, breakfast was what we expected and the folks at the front desk were helpful. The fridge and microwave worked fine. Cleanliness of the room was mid, but the breakfast area was always clean.

Very old hotel. Terrible smells and they attempt to cover it up with over scented hallways. Cracked glass over pictures that they didn’t replace, chipped and stained paint in bathrooms and bedrooms. Our room was opened by someone else’s key card at 1:00 A.M and management said ‘oh we have a lag in our system’ I say No you have a serious problem! They didn’t apologize or refund the cost of the room for that night. That is inexcusable (yes we forgot to use the inside security latch). Probably the worst hotel in my 67 years. Old fixtures in bathroom with rust and discoloration. No effort to upgrade anything. A dampness feeling on the first floor. Unruly guests in the hotel didn’t help either. When management was approached about issues they never give you that ‘customer is right’ but smile giggle and make excuses. Holes cut out of walls in the rooms never repaired where possibly electrical outlets previously existed. No excuse !! Loud air conditioning units. A complete disaster and it ruins the brand name of Comfort Inn. Can’t tell you how seriously you need to avoid this place! Slum!

We stayed on the bottom floor with our dog. The room must have been just recently updated. It was so clean and nicely decorated with a great walk in shower. The bed was very comfortably. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it

No reliable wifi TV would work for 4 minutes then go out kept talking v to the staff . It never worked very disappointing place. Then the ceiling almost fell on me it was flooded and poured out over into our room 107 the Front desk Lady said protect yourself as the water pipe broke again and water gushed We cut our stay and left We will never go back awful !!!! Breakfast was ok sausage was hard juice taste like filter needs to be changed. No sugar for oatmeal what a waste of money!!!!

All great except walls are thin- party next door until after midnight- can hear everything through adjoining wall

The room was supposed to have queen beds. The beds were full size bed with throw pillows as pillows. The water pressure on the shower was non existent.

My stay was JUST OK. The CONS: First, I needed instructions on using the TV remote which involved unplugging and replugging the cable cord - still not sure why but once they told us to do this, it worked the rest of the stay. Second, I didn't understand the pet fee was $20 per night, so I paid $40 because I stayed 2 nights. Next, the bathroom toilet wouldn't flush and we had to have maintenance plugger it The toilet sit was missing a screw so we slid around the toilet my entire stay No variation in breakfast runny eggs and half-cooked looking pork sausage - I don't eat pork. Watery coffee Breakfast juice machine had a Water label on it so I filled up my reusable water bottle only to drink it and it tasted like salt water - I notified the front desk and was told there is no water in the juice machine. Not sure now what I drank. 😳 The PROS: The waffles were really good and they offered different flavors original, strawberry and blueberry as well as chocolate chips to add to the batter - It was super convenient to where I was visiting, and where I was traveling from I also liked that they listened to my request to be placed on the 1st floor and near the door/stairs/elevator becuz I was traveling with my dog. Good Wi-Fi Each bed had lots of pillows Nice hot water and water pressure too! Alternative eggs were boiled so I had two of those each day for my protein intake. I am not sure if I'll stay there again -

Given a dirty room, remade beds with someone's dirty sheets, bathroom wasn't cleaned. I had to clean my own room, change my bed with new sheets. So much wrong with this stay and the manager couldn't be bothered to call so far this week. Horrible experience.

No staff at desk for long periods. No staff seen anywhere for greater than 30 minutes. The room had leaky toilet with water on floor. Staff unconcerned.Staff lackadaisical.Bugs in room dead and alive. We moved to another hotel the next day.

The room was ok but very strict about extra towel usage. Also the roof leaked in our room and they were very unapologetic about the issue of the room and acted like I was the issue instead of the room. They had a normal hotel breakfast similar to other hotel breakfast with small eating area.

The lady never allowed me to check in because I had rabbits, even though the hotel says they are pet friendly. I told her they are in transport cages and they will never touch the room or the floor. She asked the manager and I was told I would not be able to stay there and to call Expedia to cancel. When I called Expedia, the hotel claimed I never checked in or showed up.

Nice stay, relatively quiet location. Room was comfortable and clean. Front desk was welcoming and accommodating. Elevator was broken, so they moved us to a room on the first floor. Included breakfast was good. Some small children running around the halls at night, but it stopped around 11pm. Will be staying at the same hotel on my return trip,

The location is quiet yet close to I95. We frequently stay at this hotel on our way down south. The hotel is adequate, the rooms are a little worn , but the staff is nice and it’s a good place for an overnight. The included breakfast is good too.

We stayed one night. It was ok. There was a Waffle House in walking distance. We ordered a pizza from Dominoes. Motel was clean. Desk person was nice.

The lobby was clean and well put together and the staff was very friendly. The room itself was clean and well kept. The AC could get a little loud at times but it worked extremely well. Didn't get any breakfast, so can't leave a review on that. The property itself was decent, plenty of parking. However it does get a little trashy behind the building in the back corners of the parking lot. The location is perfect if you want to feel safe and secure. Nothing around except a waffle house! Would stay again, However bummed to see a $100 price increase from May to June.

Staff was nice and made checking in super simple. The room was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was so clean and nice. The beds were full size not queen size, but they were okay. We were two adults with our daughters so it wasn’t a problem. Overall everything was great. It was very quiet and there were plenty of parking spaces.

My family had an excellent 3 day stay. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It appeared as if the motel was recently renovated. The new finishes in the bathroom were exceptional. The furniture and the door hardware seemed dated. A good breakfast; waffles, eggs and sausage and the other standards. Recommend for an overnight stay or several days while visiting Kings Dominion (10 minutes south on I-95).

Property felt alittle run down from last.year. Propertyneeds some room updates. Some broken fixtures in the room. Pull out sofa was dirty, used towels hanging in the closet which makes you feel like they didn’t properly clean the room. More attention is needed in the breakfast area. No eggs or coffee at 8am. Items weren't replaced after 8:40 for people who came down. Breakfast is servered until 9:30. Will not stay again.

The room was clean and the woman at the counter was very nice. The room was nice and clean. But the TV wouldn't work properly but did not notice or bring the attention to the front counter because it was late. When taking a shower in the morning we discovered there was near zero water pressure. At this point there was no use complaining as we were checking out that morning. Also, the breakfast, cereal was offered but no milk was provided. We simply ate what was available and decided to leave. What was available was nice.

Last mn decision, nice welcomed, clean, refreshed establishment. Clean sheets, clean bath new shower, great breakfast with lot of choices.

I think there under staffed and over worked. Elevator did not function. Pool door was open and with our three kids we were asked to keep it down by front desk who had the door open. Easiest solution would be to close the door which we did. They did not want to give us an extra pillow for the pull out couch. Breakfast was supposed to be ready for 6:30am. It was more like 7 and the poor guy prepping it all was also working the front desk for check outs. Hotel was clean.
