Hotel Playa Mazatlan

House keeping was excellent, the lady that did our room was the best. The swim up bar was never open and it’s in the cold pool, which makes no sense because no one wanted to go in, that was a big disappointment.The 1 hot tub on 3rd floor was closed for repairs and the other was up a lot of stairs that were slippery. The beach and bar service there was fantastic.

Perfect location for easy access to the city. Friendly staff and service. I loved the little store across the street to grab snacks and drinks for my little ones. Lots of souvenir shops across the street. There's a little kids pool area with a pirate ship that my 2 and 4 year old loved. The beach is noisy with the band playing and it may be a bit much for some.

the hotel should not remove the bracelet at check out. It should be done until the tourist is gone because you cannot access the lunch buffet which we paid for

The hotel was clean and staff was friendly. The buffet was okay the restaurant food was a better choice. The coffee cafe was great. It was over crowded, especially in the pool area. several charter buses came in and out through out the week. The hotel also allowed day passes which my have been the reason. We were the only Americans there and seemed like the only ones who tipped, The staff was very grateful. The pool bar said adults only but there were children constantly coming and ordering drinks as well. That was a little frustrating

Food was good, staff was friendly, facility is clean. Not all pools are heated. Hot tubs are not that hot. Beach is not quiet or relaxing with all the loud band battles and vendors coming up to sell trinkets.

En la hora del chek out, te quitan el brazalete y te cohiben el uso de la instalaciones, ya no puedes hacer el uso de albercas ni nada a comparacion de los otros hoteles que si te dejan estar ahi. En el bufett se termina a las 11 am y antes de las 10:30 am ya te estan precionando para retirando el plato y asi.

Mi estancia estuvo bien en general el único pero que tendría en ser un poco mas accesibles para poder estar mas tiempo en las instalaciones por una cuestión de que mi vuelo de regreso salía por la tarde y requería hacer tiempo unas 3 horas mas, lo solicite en la recepción de dejar la habitación y de solo permanecer en las áreas comunes las horas mencionadas pero me comento que podía quedarme pero si brazalete o pagar un precio por persona adicional lo que no me pareció conveniente solo como sugerencia ya que hay otras cadenas de hoteles como RIU o BARCELO donde si te permiten quedarte las 2 o 3 horas extras sin ningún costo en zonas de albercas bares o restaurantes

Todo excelente, solo poner atencion en el area de alberca para niños, las escaleras de los toboganes estan muy resbalosos, seria bueno colocar antiderrapantes

Me encantó el hotel, tiene todo para pasar unas increibles vacaciones. El encargado del gym de lo mas amable y te pone rutinas. Albercas con agua templada tanto para adultos y niños.

Pues en las habitaciones había moho , no servía el aire ..todo fatal .Llegamos a descansar de un viaje largo y estuvo peor

Hotel Playa Mazatlan has its charm. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable, but the bathrooms could definitely use some updating – the tiles felt old and there was mold in the shower ceiling that had been painted over. We had a beautiful oceanfront room with a large balcony, but unfortunately there was no minibar, so we didn't use it as much as we could have. The food was good, with a wide variety for breakfast and lunch, and dinner often had an extra restaurant option. We especially enjoyed the Fiesta Mexicana dinner show that was included in our all-inclusive package. The beach was lovely and clean, with plenty of palapas for shade. However, the provided chairs were very uncomfortable. The all-inclusive drinks were a bit of a letdown. They were served in small plastic cups that gave everything a bit of an off-taste, and the beer selection was limited. Thankfully, drinks at the specialty restaurants were much better. The staff was friendly overall, though some spoke limited English. One frustrating aspect was having to pay for a day pass to use the pool area after checking out at 11 am, even though we had a few hours to wait before our airport departure. Overall, Hotel Playa Mazatlan is a good value, but just be aware of the potential drawbacks, like the outdated bathrooms and some inconveniences with the all-inclusive amenities.

I had always wanted to stay at this hotel. It’s in an excellent location, right in the Golden Zone where all the entertainment is, and steps away from the malecon. The hotel itself is very beautiful. A little outdated but still very nice. I loved that it has a cenote. Breakfast was delicious. I stayed in a standard room; it was very spacious. The only downside was that it did not have a refrigerator which I needed. Bathroom needs better lighting and a magnifying mirror. The air conditioning leaked, leaving a puddle outside the bathroom. I did report it and maintenance had to come and fix it twice. Staff did offer me to change to a different room, but since I only had 2 night more to go, I just stayed in the same room. Overall, the hotel is great. I would definitely go back.

The place was great overall. Wonderful pools except the hot tubs were cold. Great place for kids. The beach was nice. The rooms were nice but the beds are as hard as rocks. Nice location. You can walk anywhere.

Great location, it has one of the best beach area, good for kids because the hotel offers activities for kids, food included in the all-inclusive is not bad. In the other hand, bathrooms stink, and there was a cockroach in the dresser. Rooms are not quiet, everything that happens in the hallway you can hear it in the room

Its located in a great part of town. Walking distance to many shops, the only thing is that the three rooms that we got did show their age. Some could use a bit of paint and maybe some repairs. But the price dictates the condition. Food at breakfast was really good, drinks at the bar were great. Staff very friendly.

Check-in was a breeze (but we checked in on a Tuesday- we saw the weekend looked super busy). Very friendly staff. The room was wonderful with an ocean view. Comfortable beds. The hotel is all inclusive, so it is super difficult to get drinks or food if you don’t buy the inclusive bracelet. The buffets and other food options are kinda average but the waiters and bartenders are great. The area is very convenient to shops and bars but just KNOW the area is VERY busy on the beach and has super loud music, it’s kinda overwhelming!

Great location and nice pools but the rooms leave a lot to be desired (outdated). Had booked for 6 nights but only lasted 3 nights because of the room. If you don't care about the room much then is a great value. I moved to The Courtyard by Marriott and was happy with the room.

Everything was perfect only one problem is Wifi connection is so slow.

The staff was very rude, they didnt make me feel welcome, i wouldn't recommend this place, got charge for every little thing.

The staff was great and helpful, especially Ma de los Angeles in booking she was very helpful with my booking, also Jose David Captain of the Chefs was also extremly helpful, Leopoldo out waiter went above and beyond to help us, and Walter also was very helpful with our activities and dining in the hotel. Most definitely return to the hotel.

Unfortunately, this hotel is mediocre at best. The check-in was a terrible experience, and the supervisor Eduardo was extremely rude. Once we were finally checked in, we realized that many of the eating options were closed, and the main pool was also closed. (both for the entire 4 night stay) None of the hot tubs were hot. If you have extremely low expectations, this place will be fine, but we will not be returning. I will say that the Brazilian restaurant was good, and the wait staff at the restaurants were friendly and helpful

I think this was our 9th time staying at Hotel Playa. It gets better each time we visit. We had outstanding service no matter where we were, but I just wanted to mention a few of them: Julio Hugo Ivan Leopoldo (hopefully I got that right) Cristopher Christian They made out stay extra special! Can't wait until next year!

The hotel is nice. There’s just a few things that really got under my skin. We got there early and we all know check in is at 3 pm. We had to go so they can check in our luggage and we could wonder around. The gentleman told us to come back around 1 and see if the room is ready. We come back at one and they scold us about coming early and check in was at 3. Jacuzzi was closed about 40 min early and the guard said he closed at 8 when reception says 9? We got charged for a towel that we didn’t return and we left by the pool. We didn’t get charged for what a new one would cost we got charged for what 2-3 would cost. We were two parties we got all inclusive and the other party got regular. They were brining in bed from outside and we were ordering drinks and when we went to get food the first time. They served something I didn’t like. Since I didn’t want to throw it away I asked if someone would want it. (They didn’t have all inclusive). We got scolded again, I guess maybe that one might have been my mistake BUT he also blamed the one that was brining outside beer saying she was consuming from their open bar. You do get what you pay for. Transportation, and any other attendant was great! Reception, security, management, not so great. I wouldn’t come here again

My husband and I stayed one night when we first arrived to Mazatlan, we checked out at 11. We asked if we could stay in the beach area, as our transportation to Durango was not until 3pm. Hanging out in the beach, a security guard approached us and treated us like criminals. I understand the hotel protocol is that if you check out you can no longer hang out in the premises, however the way we were treated was very degrading especially in front of other people. We had a second reservation in that same hotel on April 1-7 and I explained that to the security guard, he did not care. I was so determined to cancel that second reservation, however I would not be fully refunded so I kept it. I will never sty in that hotel nor refer anyone to stay there. I did speak with management, but nothing changed. The majority of their staff is extremely rude and have poor customer service!

The Resort was Wonderful. It is perfectly situated in the Zona Dorata part of Mazatlan, very short walk to the start of the north end of the Malecon. There are plenty of shops, restaraunts, bars, etc. all in a very short walking distance. It is also a short and easy taxi/uber to central older part of town. The staff was wonderful. There was plenty of staff on hand, and they kept the resort very clean. The beach is right out front. The pools were well designed, with a center pool more for kids and games, a kids water play area with a pirate ship, one by the waterfalls area which was more quieter and had a bar area, and an adult only hottub on the other side that was seculded and away from the noise. We really enjoyed this resort and would definetly recommend to our friends if they are headed to Mazatlan. The issues we had were not the fault of the resort but the area around. They have these small beach bands that play very loud music (trumpets, sousaphones, bass marching band drums) all along the beach in Mazatlan. But at night, they move to the street just outside out bedroom, and play until 2 or 3 in the morning non-stop. The noise was absolutely horrible and we couldn't get any sleep on these nights.

I traveled with a total of 8 people and we all had only great things to say about this place. Very clean and all the staff we encountered were very friendly. Multiple options for food. If loud music is not for you, this hotel is not for you. 2 of the 8 guests were under 4 years old but the loud music was not an issue for them. Beach access was great and very close to the malecón. Beer on tap options were Indio and Tecate light. I felt no need to make a reservation at the restaurants on site because the buffet options were plenty. Already booked my next stay in a few months.

Great location

It was a great old property (in very good condition) with a lot of history. It's the perfect location around a lot of great restaurants and fun shopping opportunities. It was also fairly close to the old downtown district, which can make for some amazing exploring! We will definitely stay at Playa Mazatlan again.

La ubicación del hotel es buena , pero si van a descansar no lleguen a ese hotel , tiene un antro al lado y no puedes dormir, tiene un antro en frente y todo se escucha en la habitación .

This resort was gorgeous. Be sure to explore the pool areas thoroughly! There are a few hidden gems within the "grutas". We only experienced the breakfast buffet but it was fresh and tasty with a beautiful view of the beach! We will definitely stay here again!

Great location near the Malecón and on the beach. Fantastic staff, very clean, great pool area with many options. We did all inclusive which was nice, however only one main restaurant is open each night, as well as the buffet. No option to choose to eat at whichever restaurant you want, and you must make reservations by 11am. We were under the impression that there were many restaurants to choose from during our stay. This was not the case.

Loved the visit. Always wanted to stay here. Great breakfast buffet. Learned on my last day only that it was free with my room reservation though

Good location. Older resort and outdated. Facilities such as the “sports bar” I would rate at a zero and equivalent to sitting in a buddy’s basement except you’re on lawn chairs instead of lazy boys. I paid for the all inclusive and fully regret it. The food was bland and identical for lunch and dinner daily. I could not stomach buffet by third day. The snack bar is good for kids as its main feature is hot dogs and hockey puck burgers. The sushi was served fresh out of a 3 day storage in the fridge. I’ve had better from a Safeway deli. Only 1 restaurant available per evening and you must reserve by 10am for that evening or you’re stuck eating beans and mashed potatoes at the buffet. If you insist on staying at this location, opt out of the all inclusive and use your $ at any nearby restaurant. There is so many fantastic options within walking distance or within a $5 pulmonia ride. The biggest letdown was the coffee, the lack of it in the rooms. The “cafe” onsite will not let you walk out with a coffee unless you bring your own cup. There are 5 coffee options in the cafe and all were weak and unimpressive. The pastries were stale and sad looking. Depending on your server, morning coffee at buffet was served with either powdered creamer or if you tipped enough, real cream packets. I saw the head honcho every morning in the buffet,belly hanging out sipping on TEA being catered by at least 3 servers. The marching bands playing on the beach every night destroy the beautiful view.

We purchased the all inclusive food and drink. Their version of all inclusive starts at 11 am at the earliest. Which includes cold bottled water. The drinks are so watered down and we had less than an ounce of alcohol. The food caters to the Spanish clientele not tourists Coffee- You can get coffee and buns(usually dried out ones) at the coffee shop from 7-10 am only. If you want a Coffee pot in room. First you need to request one. Then you have to beg for the coffee. Oh ya you want a cup to drink it from…..Bring your own. Food- The food is the same everyday. Same thing at breakfast lunch and dinner. Relaxing beach -The marionette bands on the beach are brutal. There are several of them and they try to out do each other often playing at the same time. The beach is the least relaxing place Spanish speaking- You need to be able to speak Spanish if you want or need anything. If you’re looking for entertainment in the evening, you will get Mexican dancers, international dancers and Caribbean dancers, which I will add are all the same! Don’t want to forget the best in sat evening You will get to play bingo, ensure your Spanish is up to par! - [ ] Massage - it was a 45 min rub down.

Absolutely loved this resort - close to everything! The breakfast buffet was fabulous with lots of choices! The rooms are clean and lots of hot water for showers! Staff is attentive and professional. Right on the beach with lots of chairs. I wish the pool opened a little earlier and getting ice can be a bit of hassle - otherwise - loved it here! We will be back. Highly recommend.

The property installations are OK but tue AC in our room was noisy and wasn’t working well.And the service all inclusive is not worth it. The different restaurants are mostly all the time booked and it has a short limited time to book your reservation for restaurants .They limited everything even water bottles. The Flavor and freshness for food and drinks wasn’t good either. The servers people look overwhelmed mostly all the time. The best part for this hotel is that location you can walk to main street and Malecón. Our family was disappointed on our stayed here. In case that your rent a car, don’t do it by the application Expedia or other applications do it direct with the car rent company, insurance offer bu the apps for the renter car didn’t work in Mexico and you have to do everything again and more money out of your pocket.
