Really lovely hotel, exceeded expectations. Some reviewers say the room and bathroom are small, but i’m more focused on cleanliness and furnishings not being outdated. My kiddo now attends SJSU (walkable) and this location was great. I will happily book here again in the future. Gym was also nice. Complimentary kurig coffee in the main lobby.

Property is a beautiful historic building, but parking was overpriced. Valet is $51 for over night. Convention Center is a small walk across the street, but still cost us $44 dollars for parking from 2am - 12pm ( 10 hours - $1 every 15 minutes ).

What you notice first is an absolutely gorgeous lobby. Hard to believe they didn't build a bar in the main lobby area, but the space is pure magic. Il Fornaio (their only restaurant) has become an unfortunate victim of massive franchising, thus not a great restaurant, but good to have in a pinch. Where they struggle is the room size and the noise fact. I don't think I've stayed in a room and bathroom that small since I visited Europe. The rooms are bordering on claustrophobic, and the bathroom more so. Walls are relatively thin and the noise from above and the sides can be distracting if you're looking for a good night sleep. It's a well situated hotel however, and you'll find most of what you need around it.

We enjoyed the old charm of the building. Unfortunately we were unable to dine at the restaurant and were unable to get room service after 10 pm. Otherwise, it was comfortable one night, however the bathroom was a little too small. Our experience would have been better if there was an open bar available for a drink. The lounge area was basically dead which is quite a shame for such a nice open space.

Stayed for 2 days for my cousins wedding. Overall ok. The lobby near the elevators in lobby smelled strongly of sewage- the valet closes at midnight having to leave my car in the st aftr paying $50 to overnight it in a “lot” front desk staff was nice, valet staff was nice. Rooms could be cleaned better- found hair and sheets and comforter were scratchy and stained. Room service breakfast was not great- and expensive since it’s Il Fornaio- overall good location, but will not stay here again.

I loved the property, it's beautiful and the bed was so comfortable, the pillows were great, the bathroom was really nice, warm water was instant, nice smelling bathing products, i liked that the room came with a fridge and of course a coffee pot with coffee. The coffee was pretty good too (I'm a little particular about coffee- not super particular but i don't enjoy really acidic coffees) The customer service was top notch, staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The fifth star got knocked off because there was a cantaloupe sized ominous stain on the fitted sheet. I would have only knocked off half a star for that but i didn't have the option. I would definitely go back despite the sus stain

Rooms are small and outdated but the hotel is in a great location, nice lobby/common areas & a lot of good food options that are walkable. The valet parking is a pain to pull up to but the staff was super nice. Valet is around $50 bucks with in and out privileges which is awesome. Pillows were awful and the cable tv from the early 2000’s was a joke.

Typically stay at a property across the street from here and decided to try the Westin for a change. Upon checking in, I mentioned being a rewards member but my phone was cooperating and couldn’t pull up my number, the clerk told me to come back with it later. I guess it’s not something they could look up for me. The building is historic and I do realize there will be concessions given to staying in such a property, such as rooms typically being smaller that more modern properties. This was the case, our king room was definitely small in comparison to what we are accustomed to, but not a deal breaker. The Westin is known for their signature scent, which is the same at all locations. We love the scent and have candles in our own home. Unfortunately, upon entering our room, the Westin scent wasn’t what greeted us, rather it was the strong scent of marijuana, as if someone had been there shortly before our checkin. The room felt dingy and in need of maintenance. Toilet continuously ran, hot water tap peeled, hvac system was startlingly loud. The bed was pretty firm, linens were nice. The location is downtown and on a busy intersection, we listened to the sounds most of the night and made it difficult to sleep. Ultimately, we have no plans on returning to this property and will return to the property we typically stay at.

After arriving from a 8 hour road trip, decided to pull into the the Westin Down town San Jose. The valet staff were nice an informative. I tried to book a room and the front desk check in told me that they don’t take walk ins and that I had to call Westin to book a room. So I had to sit in the lobby and book a room to a hotel were the check in desk was a few feet away, Ridiculous!!!. If I wasn’t so tired I would of walked out the door. Rude front desk employee Michelle was not helpful at all. Also the hotel is not your typical Westin standard. Small rooms. Better off at Best Western.

Parking isn't great, either a public lot a couple blocks away or valet for which you need to text ahead. Room service has four taxes & fees to add to the already expensive, mediocre food. A $31 bowl of pasta ended up being $47.

This is a beautiful, historic building in the heart of downtown San Jose. We were told they intend to renovate but we're hoping they won't turn the rooms into the modern, sterile look of so many hotels today. The room was so comfortable, lovely bathroom, and clean. The only complaint was the price of valet parking ($51/night) and an $80 breakfast of 1 omelette with toast, potatoes and polenta, 3 pastries and 2 coffees. Wowza!

This stay was to allow for us to be close to the 1/2 marathon. The hotel is beautiful, a very unique, older hotel. The check in was seamless and the valets were amazing! The room was small, but laid out well and the ac was perfect for the hot weather. It was a pleasure to have a fridge in the room. I did find morning desk staff to be less friendly than the wonderful afternoon person who checked us in, however, they were efficient. If we get back to San Jose, would definitely stay again.
