Excellent hotel, very comfortable and welcoming. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The room facilities were excellent, very clean, great hot water for shower. Only item i was disappointed with was the gym, poor equipment, not enough weights, mainly anaerobic equipment.

The hotel was a bit dated. There was a leak in the bathroom and split in the shower pipe. The gym was very out of date, with some equipment needed repair. However, the bar and restaurant area was fine. Value for money was good for an overnight stay.

Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. There is plenty of parking. Unfortunately the wi-fi was down throughout our stay. We were advised at check-in. Sadly this did cause us a few issues as the mobile signal is also weak and we were trying to work. The interior needs some updating e.g. sofas in the reception area are very worn. We do have reason to be in the area a fair bit and would probably stay again for sensibly priced one night stop over.

The bathroom had not been properly cleaned from the previous occupancy. There was hair trapped below the plug and the shower gel was empty. For the price, I would expect higher hygienic standards!

The staff were very pleasant. The room was disappointing. We had to ask to change our room as the bed was burst and the bath was disgraceful. The second room was better, but had an awful smell in the bathroom. The website says premium rooms have beer and wine in the fridge. I was advised they do not put these items in the fridge. We should have had bathrobes and slippers, but I had to request these as they were not in the room. We only had breakfast in the hotel which was very good.

What can I say? I paid I full before arriving at the hotel but at check in I was asked for a deposit off £30 with was a pre approved payment, when I check my bank the deposit had be taken out and when I asked about this I was told I would get the money back in 5 days! I wasn’t warned about this when I booked, we check in late around 9.30 and there was a wedding on and we got told it was going to be on until 1am, when we got to the room there where a lot of hairs in the shower and bathroom floor after talking to raj about this I was offered a refund and we could leave but all I wanted as a clean room, I was told the hotel was fully booked and raj came to the room and cleaned the shower but when I checked the booking app there where rooms available! Not the best start to are stay

Not a good stay 😕 Wedding on so normal guest evening dinner was held in a meeting room?!Completely disorganised, 3 courses took 2 hours. Food cold but didnt dare complain as the waiter was absolutely terrible and it took long enough as it was. Menu extremely limited for those on half board - all winter dishes in summer. Sitting on conference furniture, in a very dark conference room whilst the wedding took over the actual restaurant that we had all paid to use. Room itself was VERY HOT. 24 degrees outside and every radiator in the whole building including the one in our room, was on?! My 4 year old daughter stood on something embedded in the carpet that pierced her foot. Couldnt find it again so shoes had to be worn. Bathroom was absolutely grotty. The transparent bathmat, brown. The door and door handle dated back to whenever this was built. We then went to make a cup of tea using bottled water in the kettle. Poured the tea and added milk and weird mystery floating white substance floating in the cup. Either something in the kettle, the cups or the UHT milk had something wrong with it neither were drank. Bed was tiny for 2 (small double) and mattress ridiculously lumpy. Not a good night sleep. Breakfast in the morning was ok in terms of choice and availability but again wedding party decended and got noisy and busy with people in their pjs. Waitress tried to take plates not finished with multiple times. Sausages v poor. Would not return here - go toby carvery instead!

Checked in by a very pleasant helpful lady. Very clean comfortable room with a great walk in shower as requested. Great breakfast and really nice staff. No complaints at all.

Keep the £30 deposit very quiet from you until you check in. The Hotel looked brilliant from the outside with landscaped grounds and the staff were friendly inside. Our room was very dirty and not in the best of conditions for a premium type Hotel. Stains on the walls, TV remote not working, cracked ceilings, cobwebs in corners, dead bugs on windowsill, carpet marked, very dusty lampshade etc. Not impressed really, quite disappointed. Breakfast was incredible, however, and the WiFi was fast.

There was a noise coming from the bathroom, like some sort of air conditioning? Not sure what it was. That was a bit annoying. On the plus side the bed was great, it was massive! And i loved the bath. I dont have one at home so having a bath was great!

This hotel is stuck in the 90's. Very very tired and dated, bedside lampshades broken, stained and dirty carpets, decor in the whole hotel is tired and dated, the only thing that keeps this hotel from receiving 1 star, is the staff, who are very friendly.

One night stay with dinner and breakfast. Triple room for 3 adults was a bit snug. The sofa bed was a little uncomfortable. Some of the plugs didn't work in the room. Comfy bed and pillows though. Very small bathroom but functional and clean. Breakfast was great and a good selection of healthy and the not so healthy. Dinner was rushed even after we asked them to slow down. One staff member when they were pushing us along at 10.20pm for last bar orders was so that the staff can get off. This does not make guest feel welcome unfortunately. Coffee machine not working for those that want a coffee after dinner. Easy to find, lots of parking and quiet.

The room was good... Large.. Clean but had a connecting door to the next room. The people in that room were loud and at 12.30am had a loud speaker conversation on the phone until I told them others were trying to sleep.. The bathroom was really small and shower had poor pressure.. The air con heating didn't work.. So overall I would say for the style of the hotel the stay was only FAIR

I’ve stayed in a few holiday inns and this was the least impressed I’ve been. Room was ok, a bit small, a bit tatty. Clean enough. Twin beds were so close almost a double bed. Noisy road so needed to keep window closed and use aircon - but aircon was very poor. Breakfast was very good with lots to choose from.

At check in our room wasn’t yet ready even tho we arrived after the allotted time. However reception were hugely apologetic and kindly reserved us a table in their very busy lobby area (there was a wedding going on) and brought us drinks whilst we waited. The room on the ground floor was large but dated. The AC didn’t work, not ideal on a very warm weekend. Also, the tv had been unplugged from the power and the aerial cable removed, I assume by the previous occupants. Luckily we were able to find the cable and put it all back together. The bed is very large and comfortable. The bathroom is also a good size with an excellent shower. A good hotel for a very short stay, otherwise the AC not working could have become a real problem.

Excellent new hotel all rooms in 1st class condition. Wife choice of breakfast. The negative point of this hotel is that it is parallel to the A1M motorway so the traduce noice is constant even with the room window closed you can hear the constant drone if the traffic sounds like a air commercial air conditioning unit outside the window. Would not stay again for this reason

I have stayed in many Holiday Inns across the country and typically stay in hotels for business 2-3 times per week… I have never experienced being threatened in the car park by a member of restaurant waiting staff whilst attempting to park my car due to their belief my car was parked in the wrong place despite the fact I was still in the vehicle with the engine running waiting for another vehicle to move from their parking spot as they were leaving (they were also in their car and had started the process of manoeuvring to leave). This being said the rest of the hotel staff were exceptionally helpful and polite. I would have to warn others to think twice about staying at the hotel with staff members that acting in a threatening manner. I raised this issue upon checking in and also reiterated my concern when checking out but did not receive contact from the hotel management - does Holiday Inn condone this behaviour?

Wonderful stay were met at reception with a warm welcome our room as spacious and exceptionally clean the size of the beds are brilliant breakfast in the morning was very good excellent choices of both cold and cooked breakfast we will be staying again on our next trip north and will be recommending it to friends and family
Wonderful stay were met at reception with a warm welcome our room as spacious and exceptionally clean the size of the beds are brilliant breakfast in the morning was very good excellent choices of both cold and cooked breakfast we will be staying again on our next trip north and will be recommending it to friends and family

Reception staff excellent also room was clean and tidy, breakfast very good. Evening meal in restaurant food was good but we were over charged and I knew we were overcharged. I asked for itemised invoice and told they could not provide that due to a 'glitch' asked again for itemised invoice and told it would have to be typed at reception and told to wait in reception. A lot of coming and going with waiter to receptionist then restaurant manager came asked for my bank card to check with his hand held card reader what we had paid and then gave a £10 credit back to my bank card, no apology just walked off and still not provided with an itemised invoice. No we will not stay at Holiday Inn again. The hotel chain also advertise they give a discount to ex Service personnel using their Defence Discount Service card and I could not get the booking to accept this so no discount. Also when making our booking they wanted to charge me £20 for my Service Dog that is a registered Disability Assistance Dog. We always stayed at Hotel Inn Washington on our visits to Newcastle Upon Tyne. No I would not recommend this Hotel now. Receipts below and we were given one of them torn as shown below

Standard hotel, has what you need. Staff wasn’t very welcoming. Paid a £30 deposit at the beginning of my stay which i have never had before. Excellent new hotel all rooms in 1st class condition. Wife choice of breakfast. The negative point of this hotel is that it is parallel to the A1M motorway so the traduce noice is constant even with the room window closed you can hear the constant drone if the traffic sounds like a air commercial air conditioning unit outside the window. Would not stay again for this reason

Location just off the A1 is excellent. Car park ample space. Check was efficient & informative, room was clean, comfortable and tidying with the exception of some long strands of blonde hair on the dressing table. Breakfast was very good, great choice and the buffet food was all hot.

One night stay with dinner and breakfast. Triple room for 3 adults was a bit snug. The sofa bed was a little uncomfortable. Some of the plugs didn't work in the room. Comfy bed and pillows though. Very small bathroom but functional and clean. Breakfast was great and a good selection of healthy and the not so healthy. Dinner was rushed even after we asked them to slow down. One staff member when they were pushing us along at 10.20pm for last bar orders was so that the staff can get off. This does not make guest feel welcome unfortunately. Coffee machine not working for those that want a coffee after dinner. Easy to find, lots of parking and quiet.

Have to pay for food before they will even put your order through. Ended up with suspect food poisoning. The General Manager called me later to discuss it but didn’t believe me even though he said it’s not the first time it’s happened. Terrible attitude, no refunds, not even an apology.

Hotel is very clean. Evening menu was really nice, lots of choice and food came out quickly and hot. Prices were reasonable. Hot breakfast buffet was not that hot if your not there as soon as it opens. Good range of breakfast options and drinks. Just need better heat lamps . Great to have a takaway breakfast option if your too early for breakfast, really good idea from the hotel

Not a good stay 😕 Wedding on so normal guest evening dinner was held in a meeting room?!Completely disorganised, 3 courses took 2 hours. Food cold but didnt dare complain as the waiter was absolutely terrible and it took long enough as it was. Menu extremely limited for those on half board - all winter dishes in summer. Sitting on conference furniture, in a very dark conference room whilst the wedding took over the actual restaurant that we had all paid to use. Room itself was VERY HOT. 24 degrees outside and every radiator in the whole building including the one in our room, was on?! My 4 year old daughter stood on something embedded in the carpet that pierced her foot. Couldnt find it again so shoes had to be worn. Bathroom was absolutely grotty. The transparent bathmat, brown. The door and door handle dated back to whenever this was built. We then went to make a cup of tea using bottled water in the kettle. Poured the tea and added milk and weird mystery floating white substance floating in the cup. Either something in the kettle, the cups or the UHT milk had something wrong with it neither were drank. Bed was tiny for 2 (small double) and mattress ridiculously lumpy. Not a good night sleep. Breakfast in the morning was ok in terms of choice and availability but again wedding party decended and got noisy and busy with people in their pjs. Waitress tried to take plates not finished with multiple times. Sausages v poor. Would not return here - go toby carvery instead!

We were a party of 4 adults. We all throughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were all so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We enjoyed an excellent meal too in the 24hr dining. The onion rings were fab. We would definitely stay again.

It’s a tired building that they’ve done their best to update, e.g. with new bathrooms. Easy parking but no EV chargers anymore. Handy gym with good range of equipment only needs some mats. Good value.
