Good: quiet location in Clifton, friendly staff (especially the blonde woman on evening reception), decent range of made to order breakfast meals, use of back garden. Bad: pricey for a tiny room, no air conditioning, no escalator which can be a problem if you have mobility issues. I accidentally broke a glass tumbler in a bathroom sink. Tumbler should have been more robust in a setting where it could easily be knocked off a shelf. Also, when I reported it in the morning the glass still wasn’t cleared when I was back in the evening - thankfully, the aforementioned woman on reception did clear me at of it away when I mentioned it again.

The room was in the eaves so headroom awkward on one side of bed. Differing levels in bathroom too. Reception service was a bit haphazard - hadn't a clue when reception unattended if they knew you were there. Parking was also a bit hit & miss and unclear, but it is the same price as overnight parking on the street.

They should state they only have 7 parking spaces. They should also be clear that if there are no spaces you have to park on the street (a mile away in my curcumstances) I was in room 30 up three flights of stairs. The room was so hit i left in the middle of the night.

Very nice hotel for the money, no aircon but had a fan and the room was comfortable. It’s clean and in good condition, service was freindly, parking is minimal outside the hotel but on street parking was perfectly fine.

Great location for visiting son at Uni. Staff really friendly. Room spotless- no problem with yoga on the carpet. Josh in the mornings great - didn't catch the name of the guy in the evenings - with a great mop of hair Felt safe and welcoming travelling alone

Fabulous location in Clifton Village. Well decorated with interesting artwork snd pretty garden. My bathroom shower was a bit quirky but room was clean and quiet and very comfortable bed. Easy walking to the Suspension Bridge and Observatory and loads of shoos and restaurants very close by.

Small room on top floor, not too convenient with all the stairs. Electric shower was not easy to use. But staff at lobby was friendly and helpful. Room service was not amazing, they changed linen after three days (if I remembered correctly) but didn’t clean the floor for you. They washed the mugs poorly and put them back (there were still tea marks). One day around midday, room service lady knocked the door, I told her to come back later because I was still getting ready, she told me but they finish at 12.30, so can only do 12.20 (I found it a bit bizarre that room service was done that early, you lose it if you don’t get out in the morning).

Clifton, where the Rodney is located, was perfect. We felt very safe walking around and found transportation easy to access. The hotel is very proud of their restaurant. We found it good but not excellent. We wished that we had not had breakfast included as there are lots of others options near the hotel. The room was very clean… the bathroom was great with a huge tub!! Housekeeping kept everything fresh and clean. The front desk staff were awesome. Friendly, helpful and very welcoming. 4 1/2 out of 5!! ps. Check out the Clifton Suspension Bridge while you are there!!

Stopped here for 2 nights as a solo traveler on my way to London and had a good experience. It is right across the street from a bus stop + has a lot of food and shopping in walking distance. The room itself was small but matched the description. Fine size room if you’re just using it as a place to sleep and get ready. They have a fan in the room and the windows open up. It was overall clean but the desk chair and title in the shower had seen better days. Staff was excellent. Check in and out was every easy. I would recommend.

The room was small yet cozy, but it was noisy when anyone walked overhead. The provision of coffee, tea, a small pack of biscuits and several pieces of fruit were alI very welcome, but I noticed that the fruit bowl was dusty. The shower room was clean, but the knob on the inside of the door was scuffed and wobbled, as there was a screw missing. The bottles of hand wash above the sink were approximately half full and the shower tray didn’t drain quickly enough, so I was paddling in the water as I washed. There were a couple of other niggly bits, but nothing major! The bed was nice and comfortable. The location of the hotel was perfect for exploring the area and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. I would definitely like to stay there again in the future, but on in the basement level.

Loud - don’t go if you actually want to sleep. I stayed before a job interview and was put in a basement room. The noise from the dining room above, the loud music being played until 23:00 plus the staff toilets next to my room and staff shouting meant I slept from 00:00 until 6:30 when all the noise started again. So if you only need little sleep it’s fine. Staff did nothing said it needed a manager then when I said I would come back to discuss, they said the manager wouldn’t be in which I imagine isn’t truthful. Won’t be staying again.

Don’t book a single room if you are remotely claustrophobic. Tiny box room, en-suite was possibly larger than bed area. Mattress too soft, offered no back support. Room was hot and stuffy although it was mid October. I really did not enjoy my stay and won’t be back.

First of all, the good, reception were excellent, we needed a parking permit when we arrived as we were holding up traffic! - it arrived very quickly and check in was very efficient. Room 5 was well proportioned, nice layout and a nice bathroom (even if it had a very cheap plastic toilet seat!) BUT - Room 5 should really not be a guest bedroom. Situated between the restaurant, the bar and the kitchen, it felt like all the food coming from the kitchen to the dining room was coming through our room! The entrance to the room is shared with a "Private" door which is the route to the kitchen! In addition, there is a door to the garden from the restaurant with a set of stairs right beside our bedroom window so you look at through the window and are literally face to face with someone on the stairs! I could have asked for another room, but knew hotel was full, so no point. TBH, we didn't use any of the hotel facilities so cannot comment on those, room was fine, but location of room abysmal.

I and my friend had a great short break. We each had a very comfortable single bedroom with ensuite. The staff were always very friendly, helpful and courteous. The location in Clifton is excellent and the main areas of Bristol are within easy walking distance. We had one evening meal in the restaurant and it was delicious. The only quibble was that the shower door could do with some attention at some point, a minor detail! Would definitely recommend.

Stopped here for 2 nights as a solo traveler on my way to London and had a good experience. It is right across the street from a bus stop + has a lot of food and shopping in walking distance. First of all, the good, reception were excellent, we needed a parking permit when we arrived as we were holding up traffic! - it arrived very quickly and check in was very efficient. Room 5 was well proportioned, nice layout and a nice bathroom (even if it had a very cheap plastic toilet seat!) BUT - Room 5 should really not be a guest bedroom. Situated between the restaurant, the bar and the kitchen, it felt like all the food coming from the kitchen to the dining room was coming through our room! The entrance to the room is shared with a "Private" door which is the route to the kitchen! In addition, there is a door to the garden from the restaurant with a set of stairs right beside our bedroom window so you look at through the window and are literally face to face with someone on the stairs! I could have asked for another room, but knew hotel was full, so no point. TBH, we didn't use any of the hotel facilities so cannot comment on those, room was fine, but location of room abysmal.

Staff all helpful and friendly and very accommodating. We were able to check in early after leaving our luggage in safe keeping. Great selection of tea and coffee and biscuits each day. Plus fruit to welcome us. Bed good and linens too.

Ideally situated for several restaurants. Bus stop outside the hotel meant easy access all over Bristol as well as a direct trip to the station in 25 mins. Friendly staff, delicious breakfast and a well stocked bar. As long as you don’t mind Stepp hills then ideally suited for the Ashton gate stadium.

Fabulous location in Clifton Village. Well decorated with interesting artwork snd pretty garden. My bathroom shower was a bit quirky but room was clean and quiet and very comfortable bed. Easy walking to the Suspension Bridge and Observatory and loads of shoos and restaurants very close by.

Clifton, where the Rodney is located, was perfect. We felt very safe walking around and found transportation easy to access. The hotel is very proud of their restaurant. We found it good but not excellent. We wished that we had not had breakfast included as there are lots of others options near the hotel. The room was very clean… the bathroom was great with a huge tub!! Housekeeping kept everything fresh and clean. The front desk staff were awesome. Friendly, helpful and very welcoming. 4 1/2 out of 5!! ps. Check out the Clifton Suspension Bridge while you are there!!

Good: quiet location in Clifton, friendly staff (especially the blonde woman on evening reception), decent range of made to order breakfast meals, use of back garden. Bad: pricey for a tiny room, no air conditioning, no escalator which can be a problem if you have mobility issues. I accidentally broke a glass tumbler in a bathroom sink. Tumbler should have been more robust in a setting where it could easily be knocked off a shelf. Also, when I reported it in the morning the glass still wasn’t cleared when I was back in the evening - thankfully, the aforementioned woman on reception did clear me at of it away when I mentioned it again.

The Rodney was a convenient distance from the railway station. It was old but cared for. Perfect for my one night but would have been happy to stay longer if I needed to. Amber the waitress was great and I enjoyed the restaurant food

Property has character but is somewhat dated in certain areas. Bathroom space limited and tired bathroom suite although functional. Access to the top floor is via a steep staircase which may cause issue for some persons. Breakfast was very good and good choice available. Staff friendly and eager to assist as required.
