The Washington is a moderate sized hotel in an excellent location. The room was small but had everything that was needed, and was nicely presented. The onsite Parking is excellent, as parking in this part of Bristol is impossibly difficult. Staff were super helpful allowing me to access the car park some hours before check-in. A huge benefit. Recommended

Well located guest house which is undergoing refurbishment so covered in scaffolding. My room was up several flights of stairs. Very convenient location. Very friendly staff and nice breakfast. Good value for Bristol and comfortable bed. Parking is awkward as the car park is small and the roads have restrictions.

Staff on reception and restaurant were excellent. Private parking was great. Vegan/vegetarian options for breakfast were very good too. Only downside was front facing bedrooms were on a busy road so sleep quality not great and no lift if you're likely to struggle getting your cases up two flights of stairs.

Welcoming helpful staff. The rooms were clean enough and beds comfortable. Breakfast and service was good. Thankfully we got a parking space so this was not an issue for us. The hotel is in a nice part of Bristol and close to the sites we wanted to see so we didn’t need the car. I would consider staying there again. Lack of a lift was inconvenient at times.

Room was like a sauna, no fans or air con and understandably, hottest day of the year, but rooms at night and during day were unbearable to be in. Limited parking though paid to stay there and no space to park. Offered a permit which is helpful but need to pay £9 to use it. Dining area limited and even at the time booked to eat, was full up so had to wait to get a seat. Staff were very friendly and helpful so cannot fault this, but would not recommend if you do not like hot rooms or cramped areas.

Quick check in polite staff thought £12 per night parking was a little steep but was worth paying for private parking in a city room clean tidy good choice of beverages and fruit hot chocolate and coffee including a ground and cafetière bed comfy and clean there was a good hearty full English breakfast included with also continental meats and cheeses and fruit overall an excellent experience thank you

Great reception staff made booking in a treat. Secure car park well worth the additional cost.Room faced main road and so opening windows did result in noise and as weather at the time was hot meant room could have done with cooling fan. Nice refreshments tray with biscuits and fruit. Hotel very convenient for Bristol as only a 15 min walk to main shopping areascand theatres. We were in room 23 which was small but adequate. Our only issue was the double bed which was small as im tall and was also narrow.

Hotel had parking which was great for a city but chargeable . Had a great guy on evening reception who was very helpful and friendly and could not do enough . The hotel coming in from the car park shows its age and my room had black mould around the windows but they are old and would probably need regular black mould sorry this time of the year . The shower worked fine but looked pretty well used and generally it’s all in need of some renovation . Understand that’s on the cards . Other than the need for updating as wallpaper is peeling away above the bed very noticeably and mould it was ok.There is a lot of other places around to choose from . Anyway people were great , maintenance not so great !

The hotel was scaffolded, so I am assuming that they will be doing some much needed updates to the property. It was a lovely old property that was in dire need of a facelift. The floorboards above were squeaky and their were poorly repaired cracks in the ceilings and walls. On the other hand, the bed was clean and comfortable. Only one person attending the desk, and they leave at 10pm.

The staff were lovely, warm, inclusive, and welcoming. I appreciated the comfortable bed, the bath, and the thoughtful in room touches like fruit, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate (you need to label the jars). However, the overall experience was let down by several serious cleanliness and maintenance issues. The curtains didn’t cover the full window, the sheet didn’t fully fit the bed, and there was a long hair in the bath, rubbish in the bathroom corner, and an old plaster under the radiator all of which remained even after I requested the room be cleaned. Breakfast was served on cold plates, and the sauce bottles were covered in months (if not years) of dried residue. I raised this with staff, and while the plate was warm the next day, the dirty bottles remained. These might seem like minor issues individually, but together they reflect a lack of attention and care so more like a dated budget B&B than a premium Bristol hotel. Cleanliness and basic standards shouldn’t be optional, and unfortunately, this let down what could otherwise have been a pleasant stay.

If you want to breathe in the smell of public urinals then this is the hotel for you; basement rooms contain black mould other hotel in this price range are better and clean; eg. Berkeley Square and The Victoria but the only saving grace is the excellent staff; they’re welcoming friendly and helpful and outdo most hotels I’ve been to

The location was great for exploring Bristol. We were very lucky to be able to park at the hotel. The breakfast and service was excellent. However the hotel was very tired and not as clean as it should have been. When we went to our room the dirty towels and bedding were outside our door so we had to step over them. They were eventually removed once we contacted reception. It was good value but could have been cleaner.

All the public areas, door handles, TV remote control, window sills carpets and bed spreads need a deep clean. Otherwise, the reception staff and breakfast service staff were great. It’s a shame that the lack of cleanliness lets them down

Rooms were smelly not practical. Beds uncomfortable and rooms were dirty. Staff on reception was friendly. Had to pay extra £12 for parking which wasn't advertised on website. There was 3 staff working in kitchen but was told chef rang on sick so no cooked breakfast. There was hardly anything out so I didn't bother. No cups or serviettes on our table. No knife on mind. No plates of you did want cold meat or toast. No money given back for lack of breakfast. Rooms noisey and creaky. We could have had a top hotel for what we paid. Would not recommend

The staff on reception, and at breakfast, were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was ok, reasonable quality, and certainly enough food. Now the downsides. The bathroom was really dirty. The shower gel and shampoo holder did not work so I removed the gel to use it. There was what would best be described as thick, brown gunk underneath the gel on the metal tray. The water did not drain out of the shower so it filled up as you showered. The floor had not been cleaned, the bin was filthy, there were patches of mould everywhere. There was someone else's toe nail clipping on the bedroom carpet. The electrical appliances had not been tested for several years. All in all not good at all!

Very tired decor however bed linen and towels were clean. Bed was comfy. Fairly good breakfast although basic - more attention needs to be paid to wiping and clearing tables, cleaning sauce bottles and replenishing the small buffet.Welcome was friendly. Shower was fairly weak and went hot and cold, the sink, taps and bath were old and stained through age. The bedroom carpet and walls were were also quite stained. The hotel is in a very good position to go out for the evening.

A comfortable nights stay, very friendly and helpful staff. Great location with good access and easy to walk into the city. Some areas of the hotel were a little tired and in need of updating/refurbishing though. No air con so window had to be open which on the ground floor with smokers congregating outside wasn’t ideal.

Room was just given not choice of floor or location. Friendly staff and lovely breakfast which was included. Dust above headboards and water damage on cieling with mould on. Only two sockets in the room. Room was directly beside the stairs and beds on the wall beside so could hear anyone walking down in night and early morning when they embarked to get breakfast so did not get the rest and relaxation of having a lye in as was woken early. Would stay again if redecorated, more clean and room choice was more avaliable.

Staff were very welcoming and professional. The building is old and that is reflected in it's condition. The window in our room rattled which added to our poor night's sleep. We could hear everything going on in the reception area. The bathroom was a joke. Knees nearly touched the wall when seated on the toilet and when flushing the toilet a pump could be heard for an extended period of time. Not a great experience especially for the price.

The young international staff is delightful. I stayed a week at The Washington and got to know them. I am sorry I didn't learn all their names, but I do remember Sumaya, Kassa (?), Kate, Katie, Rhiarre (?).

When I attempted to go for breakfast my door wouldn't open so I had to wait for someone to break in. When I went to reception to complain and point out the safety issues having a locked door in a fire, the hotel said they would give me a full refund that day. Now, a week later, they have not yet refunded any money and have decided they will only refund 50%.
When I attempted to go for breakfast my door wouldn't open so I had to wait for someone to break in. When I went to reception to complain and point out the safety issues having a locked door in a fire, the hotel said they would give me a full refund that day. Now, a week later, they have not yet refunded any money and have decided they will only refund 50%.

Reception Staff especially the young lady on during the afternoon couldn’t do enough to help you! Nothing was too much trouble! The Hotel was spotless and comfortable, if I stayed in Bristol again I would definitely use this place..

Have never had a problem staying here before. TV not working last night, staff did try to get it working but it was not possible. Was given a small refund to compensate. Staff as always helpful & friendly

The breakfast girls Izzy & Darmian was very kind , considerate & professional Rest for consecutive 02 nights, my room heating was not working properly , regardless of multiple requests on the main reservation counter, nobody turned up to correct it It was quite chilly to sleep for 02 nights If the heating was out of order, room should not be allocated and a better replacement was expected which was not there at all in first place

nice, friendly welcome from the woman on reception. I had my single room upgraded to a larger room too which was nice. plenty of tea and coffee in the room along with some biscuits and some fresh fruit. didn’t have time for the cooked breakfast in the morning as i had a train to catch but they arranged for me to have a bacon and egg sandwich to take away with me which was tasty. would definitely stay here again when i next come to Bristol

Hotel had parking which was great for a city but chargeable . Had a great guy on evening reception who was very helpful and friendly and could not do enough . The hotel coming in from the car park shows its age and my room had black mould around the windows but they are old and would probably need regular black mould sorry this time of the year . The shower worked fine but looked pretty well used and generally it’s all in need of some renovation . Understand that’s on the cards . Other than the need for updating as wallpaper is peeling away above the bed very noticeably and mould it was ok.There is a lot of other places around to choose from . Anyway people were great , maintenance not so great !

The Washington is a moderate sized hotel in an excellent location. The room was small but had everything that was needed, and was nicely presented. The onsite Parking is excellent, as parking in this part of Bristol is impossibly difficult. Staff were super helpful allowing me to access the car park some hours before check-in. A huge benefit. Recommended

Well located guest house which is undergoing refurbishment so covered in scaffolding. My room was up several flights of stairs. Very convenient location. Very friendly staff and nice breakfast. Good value for Bristol and comfortable bed. Parking is awkward as the car park is small and the roads have restrictions.

A comfortable nights stay, very friendly and helpful staff. Great location with good access and easy to walk into the city. Some areas of the hotel were a little tired and in need of updating/refurbishing though. No air con so window had to be open which on the ground floor with smokers congregating outside wasn’t ideal.

The hotel is distinctive with it’s red entrance, lots of information on Bristol It’s got a-lot of character, wonderful staff. The softest cosiest bed I’ve slept in being an Georgian building with such it can do with some maintenance. Breakfast is complimentary with a good selection.

Staff friendly and helpful. Bathroom floor filthy, especially at edges. Top of toilet cistern not cleaned. Mould down side of wall near bed. Thick dust on every ledge and shelf in bedroom. Food and dirt on breakfast menus. Breakfast tomatoes, beans and mushrooms dehydrated a lot as on heat too long and almost inedible. Well located. Good choice of teabags but stuff in jars gone bad/old. Wouldn't come back. Rack restaurant excellent in food, atmosphere and staff courtesy.

Breakfast was a disaster….a staff member made inappropriate comments about other people in my party. Only a few items for my breakfast order arrived and my friends breakfast was not served at all. When I asked where the rest of the breakfast was she said there is nothing available as the chef had left for her next job!

Really good value for money, great staff and good cleanliness standards. Breakfast is included in the price but the compromise is that the sausage and bacon is poor quality. Please replace the toasting machine! I will come back though x

A Sink with taps only in.Room, with a TV that had no signal that someone previously pulled cable out of and received a welcome message to enjoy the chocolates which weren’t there. Room was Rough, the whole place looks shabby. Staff at desk didn’t care and was u helpful. Bathroom that was offered was a shared tiny bathroom with a shower and toilet in it. Never again. Dump.
