This hotel is very close by to the plaza as well as lots of different places to dine. They had their own parking garage which was nice. The lobby was clean, and the staff were friendly. The things we did not like was that our room was right above a movie theater so we could hear the movie while we were sleeping. The shower would not drain the water well and there was a fan in the room that didn't work. We didn't stay here long so it wasn't an issue for us but for others, I could see these being a little disappointing. It was in a great location. The property did not communicate with us prior to our stay unlike all other properties we stayed at in Italy. Although, it was easy to check in, it would have been nice to have more communication.

. Hotellet ingick i en resa på 3 veckor och 9 hotel. Hotellet hade sett sinna glansdagar och var mycket slitet Vi Bode i rum 434 som hade mycket eftersatt underhåll. Hissen gick sönder första dagen och vi fick gå 113 trappsteg, dålig frukost. Ej värt priset.

Hotel had a central location near Bologna Downtown and Two Towers, lots of shops, restaurants and stores nearby mini marts and grocery stores. Good bathroom and room size...interesting small door to get into room. Hotel is old but in good condition for age. Elevator was a savior but only 1 person and 2 large suit case's per trip or 2 people with luggage. A/C worked well...small bathroom and room but we expected it from the other reviews. The accessibility to downtown and walkable access to the plazas and great food Low and Slow BBQ was the best BBQ I have had in a few years (10-15 minute walks) plus you can discover great Gelato spots along the way. Best Dinner spot is Sfoglia Rina, Tortulini, Amatriciana and Lasanga. Close 2nd is Darcy Osteria Contemporanea (expect to be here for 1.5 to 2 hours) great food service and dishes made fresh but they take time.

Let's start with the good stuff: the location of the hotel. It is just off the Via d'Independenzia and not too far from the Neptune Fountain, so it is pretty central. Of course, that does mean it is about a 20 minute walk to the railway station. There seems to be a great restaurant in the street, judging by the length of the queues. I found the nearest supermarket to be a ten minute walk. The staff at reception were extremely friendly and helpful; they were able to speak English well. I had a budget single room with no natural light coming into the room, so this made it quite gloomy. The bed was comfortable. For a single room, it was of good size. There was a bedside cabinet, a large wardrobe with safe, a table on which was the television, and an easy chair. The room was carpeted. Of importance, in the summer, there is air-conditioning in the room. The en-suite bathroom was up a step and had a combined bidet and shower. The bathroom had a tiled floor. A big drawback of the hotel is its single small lift - allow plenty of time for your journey! Breakfast was an extra ten euros and I decided not to take that option. There is also a tourist tax in addition to your bill. I think it's adequate for a day, but I wouldn't want to stay longer, although I did, unfortunately!

Hotel in posizione strategica che in più dispone di un garage a disposizione degli ospiti e, essendo in pieno centro, è notevole (il prezzo li vale tutti) però è fatiscente, d'inverno passi, ma appena l'aria scalda deve fare un caldo infernale. La colazione è appena decente, le camere vecchie.

Cet Hôtel nommé PALACE n’en reste que le nom ! Cet hôtel de « passe » devrait être fermé depuis 20 ans minimum. De la réceptionniste à l’arrivée et le petit-déjeuner à la sortie tout est resté daté des années 50, sale et vulgaire cet hôtel fait honte à l’hôtellerie Italienne dite 3 étoiles ! Des moquettes très tres sales infestées de microbes du hall d’accueil, étages, chambres en passant par la « salle de restaurant ». La literie est un CAUCHEMAR (matelas en mousse) pour un mal de dos assuré sur laquelle vous transpirez comme dans un sauna puisque la climatisation date des années 70 et fonctionne au ralenti sachant qu’il fait plus de 38 degrés Bologne à l’heure actuelle. Le mobilier de la chambre tout comme de l’hôtel style « Louis 18 » est usé de partout et fini par faire peur…. Enfin, la salle de bain propre (c’est bien le seul endroit de ce cauchemars « à la Bolognaise ») date des années 70 avec son carrelage carré de couleur orange avec douche à l’ancienne accompagnée de son rideau en plastique. En quelques : fuyez cet hôtel de passe & contactez de toute URGENCE la Direction Générale des Fraudes au Tourisme ainsi que les Services Sanitaires.

Superbe emplacement et bon petit déjeuner. Cet établissement a un fort potentiel mais il n'est absolument pas exploité. Super vetuste et franchement pas avenant. Dommage. Le pire de tout est la moquette dégueulasse.

AVOID. Booked for 2 nights but checked out after one - they refused to refund us but we were so desperate to leave and lucky enough to find an alternative nearby, we cut our losses. We have stayed in old ‘character’ places before, and don’t mind antique furniture or a dated but cared for vibe. However this property was not even trying to achieve these things! From the start reception staff could barely bring themselves to greet us, the impression then persisted that guests and their comfort are completely irrelevant. The whole place is in dire need of updating and refurbishing. Decor run down and tired to the point of falling apart - carpets and upholstery dirty and frayed, shabby furniture, general bad smells from bathroom drains, badly-installed laminate flooring buckled with damp and revealing ancient carpet underneath. Non-existent basic room facilities. We were bitten by insects in the night - having encountered bedbugs before we were fairly confident it was not mosquitos as the bites are quite distinctive. Up until this happened we were prepared to stick it out and chalk up to experience but it was the final straw, we packed and got out as soon as we could. On announcing we were leaving early there was no curiosity from staff as to how our stay had been or why we might be bailing out. We were shown their latest bedbug inspection report which appeared to be a box ticking game. Sad that a fine old building has been run down like this - it could be great.

The hallways had literal mould growing from the ceiling I have photographic evidence, the taps in our room had the chrome eroded off, the carpets looked awful and threadbare. More than 4 things were out of order including an elevator and vending machines. Staff gave us no information on arrival about breakfast, recommendations of restaurants, the sights of the city and we wasn't even told about the WIFI. Overall for a three star hotel we were disappointed we had just come from a 3 star hotel in Verona and they were miles better.

The property is old building with high portico. The furnishings are old but that is reminiscent of the past and can be charming. The single room was a good size with high ceilings and the sheets and towels all cotton, but the first impression is horrible. The entrance and all common areas have a dreadful, stained carpet that immediately give you a bad impression, maintenance is an issue. Loose floors, broken, missing knobs, unkempt furniture, moldy shower curtains. General impression, poor, unsafe and shabby.

Pictures do not reflect the condition of the rooms. For the price to stay the value is very poor. No working air conditioning and the blinds for the window were broken. Also a hole in the wall. The shower had rust.

I will start by saying this hotel is in a great location and it is a very traditional Italian hotel. However, the rooms and bathrooms are not to a great standard and the corridors were quite loud, and the walls thin. We were only there for 2 nights for the Radiohead show so didn’t spend a huge amount of time at the hotel and I assume prices elevated due to the event. If you can get it cheap and just want a place to sleep and shower it’s fine but not somewhere if you enjoy relaxing in your room. There is so much to see and visit nearby we were happy staying out to sightsee, eat and drink.

Hotel palace charges way too much for a 4 star hotel. The rooms are very shabby with old carpeting. There is a 4D movie theatre next door and you will hear and feel the vibrations of the movie. The floors are wooden and the walls are paper thin and you will hear everything. The bathrooms are very tiny and old. There is no air conditioning. I got a fan but the fan made a lot of noise. There is also no mini fridge. However it is very conveniently located near Piazza Maggiore and is near all the major sights. The hotel is about an 15-20 min walk to the train station. Overall it is fine for a one night stay out of convenience but it’s not good value for your money.
Hotel palace charges way too much for a 4 star hotel. The rooms are very shabby with old carpeting. There is a 4D movie theatre next door and you will hear and feel the vibrations of the movie. The floors are wooden and the walls are paper thin and you will hear everything. The bathrooms are very tiny and old. There is no air conditioning. I got a fan but the fan made a lot of noise. There is also no mini fridge. However it is very conveniently located near Piazza Maggiore and is near all the major sights. The hotel is about an 15-20 min walk to the train station. Overall it is fine for a one night stay out of convenience but it’s not good value for your money.

Creaking floorboards throughout, an ancient bathtub and old plumbing, a flat bed. If you can ignore this, you will enjoy your stay.

My husband and I stayed 2 nights. The bed was very uncomfortable, it felt like cardboard.. The pictures online made the room look better than it was. There was some noise during the night but nothing too bad, even with the window open. There was no ac so we had to keep the window open, we were also provided a fan in our room. Bring bug spray, I was bite by mosquitos during the night with having to have the windows open. Breakfast was not good, the eggs were cold and the rest of the food looked just okay. The only good part of breakfast was the croissants, so not worth the money. Staff is friendly and the location is good in relation to city center, but would not come back to this hotel.

Disappointing Stay – Definitely Not a Three-Star Experience We have traveled extensively around the world and have rarely encountered such poor service and unwelcoming staff as we did at this so-called three-star hotel. From the moment we arrived, the experience was far from what was advertised. There was no welcome or even a bottle of water offered, despite the 35°C heat. When we asked for help locating a place to buy water, the staff showed no willingness to assist. Basic hospitality seemed completely absent. The night porter was particularly rude — he scolded us aggressively over a small piece of candy wrapper from their own dish on the front desk. Throughout our stay, the staff never greeted us with a simple “hello” or “goodbye.” The atmosphere was cold and indifferent, which made us feel unwelcome. AVOID. Booked for 2 nights but checked out after one - they refused to refund us but we were so desperate to leave and lucky enough to find an alternative nearby, we cut our losses. We have stayed in old ‘character’ places before, and don’t mind antique furniture or a dated but cared for vibe. However this property was not even trying to achieve these things! From the start reception staff could barely bring themselves to greet us, the impression then persisted that guests and their comfort are completely irrelevant. The whole place is in dire need of updating and refurbishing. Decor run down and tired to the point of falling apart - carpets and upholstery dirty and frayed, shabby furniture, general bad smells from bathroom drains, badly-installed laminate flooring buckled with damp and revealing ancient carpet underneath. Non-existent basic room facilities. We were bitten by insects in the night - having encountered bedbugs before we were fairly confident it was not mosquitos as the bites are quite distinctive. Up until this happened we were prepared to stick it out and chalk up to experience but it was the final straw, we packed and got out as soon as we could. On announcing we were leaving early there was no curiosity from staff as to how our stay had been or why we might be bailing out. We were shown their latest bedbug inspection report which appeared to be a box ticking game. Sad that a fine old building has been run down like this - it could be great.

Great location as Bologna is a very walkable city. The room was quaint, all the basic amenities we needed. They did have a very strict 2:00 pm check in but kindly held our luggage. The room was a little “stuffy” with older carpeting which was our only complaint. Two minutes to the main square. Great location for a budget friendly option!

Good bathroom and room size...interesting small door to get into room. Hotel is old but in good condition for age. Elevator was a savior but only 1 person and 2 large suit case's per trip or 2 people with luggage. A/C worked well...small bathroom and room but we expected it from the other reviews. The accessibility to downtown and walkable access to the plazas and great food Low and Slow BBQ was the best BBQ I have had in a few years (10-15 minute walks) plus you can discover great Gelato spots along the way. Best Dinner spot is Sfoglia Rina, Tortulini, Amatriciana and Lasanga. Close 2nd is Darcy Osteria Contemporanea (expect to be here for 1.5 to 2 hours) great food service and dishes made fresh but they take time.

This is a comfortable 3* hotel , yes the interior is dated, but it doesn't make the place any less comfortable. There's a big lobby area with comfy seats and tables which is nice if you've got a small room. Walkable to all main ghings, 20 mins walk from station.

This stay is part of a longer trip. The hotel is excellent. Luggage room if you arrive early as we did. Location is in the old area so a 5 min walk to piazza magiorre and the tourist information office. Breakfast was included and it was great. All in all, wish I’d have booked a longer stay.

RUN!!! The floors looked like the original carpets from the 1800's... and not in a good way. The 1970s called and they want their decor and furniture back. The beds were thin box spring mattresses on what looked like a camp bed. My back!!! I couldn't tell if the room was clean because the carpet was so disgusting. There was zero a/c and the lady at the front desk told me that 'standard' rooms on the 3rd floor didn't get a/c. Then she gave me a lecture on how it wasn't even that hot out. I did get a fan. I am a woman travelling alone and the guy at the front desk loudly announced my room number twice, as he handed me a key in a lobby area full of people. They were sold out, so i couldn't get a new room. The good things: 1. the sheets were curiously wonderful- starched, ironed and luxurious. 2. The bathroom was immaculate. 2. They allowed me to store my e-bike in their garage free of charge.

Very clean but as room leads directly onto the corridor with no bathroom all hallway to mute noise you can hear everyone talking as they walk past.
