Estrella At Casino Del Sol

I booked this hotel for my daughter’s 13th birthday party because it had a waterslide and was an affordable rate. She and her friends were so disappointed when the waterslide was closed during our entire stay. We were told it was closed due to lack of lifeguard. My other complaint about this hotel is that there aren’t many amenities. Coffee in the lobby would be nice or an operational bar by the pool. The hotel was clean though and well kept.

I would have preferred that the pool bar and pool snacks would have been open and available as it says in the description. It does not designate that it’s only open on certain dates or times, but the staff told me it does not open until the summer. This is Tucson and we’re pretty much summer all year long so I don’t know why it wasn’t open. There were many people there. We also Were told that we could not bring any of our insulated cups with ice water into the pool area. They were metal not breakable. They also told me I wasn’t permitted to bring the water that I got every morning in my room out to the pool either.

I came by at 2pm to make sure our rooms were side by side or connecting, they were still being house cleaned. Our checkin was at 4pm. The rooms were not available until 4:45pm. We stayed in the lobby and the kids missed out of an hour to enjoy the waterslide that closes at 6pm. The slide should be open at least until 7pm. The wait for the elevator was ridiculous, they only have one working elevator

Enjoyed my stay but the waterslide at this property was closed. It was a bummer because that is the whole reason why we stayed at this hotel.

Loved the pool, hot tub and hotel room and facilities was great. However, the arcade room was closed down (for several months i was told) and there was no way to order food at the hotel. You had to physically go to the casino next door to get any food, and we weren't allowed to bring drinks from the casino. We also werent allowed any food from outside of the casino in the pool area so we were basically forced to eat all meals inside the hotel room if we didnt want to buy from the casino. There were no outside seating spaces to picnic. Even with all the restaurants at the Casino, none had windows or outdoor space so it felt almost claustrophobic. With the large property they have it would have been nice to see more outside space. Service was my biggest complaint at the hotel as the staff werent overly helpful or friendly. The lifeguards at the pool were very strict to the point that it made the poolside experience unpleasant. They should relax a bit on their interventions as it was a bit much and even with the adults it felt like they were constantly yelling at people. The unlimited free bottled water was nice but would have been nice to see filtered water. It was quite expensive to get around the area without a car since some of the site seeing is far away and only accessible by taxi. Public transit was free which is nice but two hours to get somewhere is quite inconvenient. Overall, good experience but a few things could improve and make it worthy of another visit!

The power went out for over two hours and the staff could care less. I cannot walk up three flights of stairs because of knee issues and they literally wanted me to take an elevator with the power limited “it goes up but not down”! Really!!?? No compensation offered. Not even a drink voucher. We couldn’t even sit by the pool. Of course the casino mysteriously had power. The hotel is beautiful and clean but the staff is terrible.

Something happened at the hotel around 5pm on Monday that caused the hotel to lose electricity, so therefore the pool and slide were closed, the rooms had no power or AC. We had to take the stairs to the 6th floor because the elevators were down. Not once did anyone bother to explain to the guests what had happened or provide any answers. The hot tub was hardly even warm. The slide is supposed to open at 10am and by the time they got it turned on today it was 1030 and checkout is 11. We stayed there for the pool and slide for our kids and were quite disappointed with not getting our full time with it. I know they can’t help losing power but it’s all in the way they go about it and explaining what’s going on to guests would have been appreciated. None of the guests I spoke with had any idea what was going on either. All of us at the pool heard a loud boom and then all of a sudden no electric and no one bothered to come tell everyone what happened.

It was a very nice room, clean and staff was prompt. They have an arcade that apparently had not been open for 6 months, which bummed my 12byear old out. The pool was warm and clean, but they did a crap job setting out umbrellas and making it welcoming. I don't care if it's off season. There is no hotel bar, they said we could use the pool at the resort which was underwhelming (maybe we are spoiled we are from Phoenix and it doesn't look like a resort pool to me just a nice pool) no working bar there either. Not that we need to booze it up but a cocktail would be nice. In fact we weren't allowed to have any drinks there lol. Also no food. The casino is cute, some good options. it's fine. Won't stay again. Advertise amenities, but when you get there, there are not available.

There were bed bugs in the room and got bite by them

Use to love coming here. I had to book a room twice because my friend was in the hospital. The first room the floor was wet, the second room I booked there was trash on the floor and hair on the bed that was not mine and the towels had stains. They have gone down hill

This is a casino property, but separated from the casino. The property is in excellent condition but the front desk is not willing to help. Before my arrival, I asked to have a quite room away from highway, away from elevator. But the front desk ignored my request and gave a lot of reasons. They assigned me a room closer to the highway and the front desk gentleman said it is not.... Room cleaning don't change shampoo for four days until asked for.

Average hotel. Beds were hard. Shower was great. Some days we had wash cloths and some days we.didnt. Stayed 8 days and they only changed the bedding once on day two. Noise issues with other guests and staff did not remove.them from property so it was bad at 10pm 12:30am and 3:30am. Security is why we stayed here but did not see much around. Only in the casino itself.

The area around the property is quiet. There is not much around in terms of shopping or dining. The hotel appeared nice until we got to our room. The beds and "pillows" are very uncomfortable. There needs to be more attention to detail when cleaning especially in the bathroom. There was blood on the wall/baseboard in front of the toilet and the shower was not cleaned well. Overall, for a one night stay, it was convenient. But wont likey book here again.

Estrella hotel was very clean and welcoming. All staff was kind and polite.

My stay was nice. But my room was dirty the elevator was dirty and hall ways was dirty.

Clean rooms

The rooms are nice and in a good location. It could use better dining options and at least continental breakfast for hotel guests. It was very noisy unfortunately. The rooms are definitely not very soundproof. Drunk guests ponding on the doors and the pool area activity is easily heard.

Clean and comfortable. Quiet. Great walk-in shower. Glass wall meant zero insulation. Heater kicked on every 10 minutes no matter how low thermostat set. Needs heavier blackout drapes.

The room was nice. Missed having a microwave and no glasses were supplied, although there was a nice ice bucket.

Extremely nice! Everything is new, clean, and well maintained. Top notch accommodations and a great price. Nice sunset view.

Would have been a perfect score but the bed as stated by many was beyond firm, more like heavy padded carpet.

The hotel is nice. Maybe because it’s still new. There are many flaws that may be insignificant, but will be highly considered if I ever rebook. First, the AC is LOUD. Maybe because I was on the top floor? I have no idea why it’s so loud but it’s a nuisance to where you HAVE to turn up the tv’s volume. The pillows on a king bed, quite literally, are toddler sized. This is not a joke. I wonder if they ran out of pillows? I was astonished. They’re not comfortable AT ALL. The bed is pretty firm as well. The water pressure in the shower is absurdly low. I also noticed when I was brushing my teeth in the bathroom, I could hear the person next door coughing and hock a loogie which was disgusting. The reviews of paper thin walls are valid. I faced the pool and I heard all of the cars passing by on Valencia. Morning and night. On my second day, I went to get take-out to bring back to my room. I called the front desk and asked if they had a microwave. Nope. Not even in the lobby. I’ve stayed at MANY hotels. How do you not have at least one microwave in the communal areas?! I ate a sad, cold Chipotle bowl. The pool area was nice. The pool isn’t very large and would hesitate to ever come on a weekend or holiday. The pics of the pool online are super deceiving. Speaking of the pool; you cannot bring any outside food or drink unless it’s from a restaurant in the casino. I had my hydroflask with ice and water. Couldn’t take that. Imagine being in 103° weather, with a HEAT ADVISORY

Minus 1 star because the room Air conditioner is really loud and also there is some mechahical noise in the wall, behind the t.v. that comes on every 15 minutes. These noises make it tough to slewp you may need ear plugs if you are a light sleeper like me. Other than that the rooms and beds and pillows are clean, comfortable and cozy. Staff is great.

Liked the separate Estrella hotel from casino. Liked the room. Disappointed with no wifi and TV guide not working.

First time staying at Del Sol Estrella. Very clean, comfortable and friendly service. Will definitely be coming back. You won’t regret it!!

Staff need to at least give direction on where to go once they give you your room keys. Point out where the elevator is and we had to keep checking on each floor to see where our room was.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL! Short story- checkout time is 1130. I called the desk the day before to arrange a late checkout. It’s $25/hour for every hour after checkout time. I was going to be tired so I agreed to pay so I could get extra sleep. Despite the call, the extra fee paid AND a do not disturb sign on my door, I had housekeeping banging on my door at 10:45, 11:15, and 11:45. When I informed the desk of this the simply said a cursory “sorry” and processed my extra fee for staying 20 minutes after normal checkout. Management didn’t care and service staff was rude and clearly impatient to get in the room I paid for through 12:30pm.

The front desk does not work well when there are problems. I was billed twice. There is not always management on site to deal with problems. I went to the desk at 8 in the morning. I was told that when management came in they could fix my double billing and would call me. I went to the desk again at 3 management had just arrived for the day. I was assured my problem was fixed by staff. Their systems seem to not work because my problem still exists. The staff cannot solve problems they can only check you in..

Hotel was good and clean . Staff was honestly average , just not very nice . I tried to go to the pool and got treated like a criminal cause I didn’t have a wrist band . Didn’t know I needed one.

The hotel was fantastic, except that they were suffering some sort of computer hacking episode during my entire stay that wiped out the reservation and WiFi systems, and electronic room keys. But the staff were amazing! So friendly and helpful, in spite of having to escort each guest to their room EVERY time. They made my stay!

Great location for what I was doing in town

Easy to get to places in Tucson, yet far from the maddening crowd! Clean, nice staff, spacious room.

Beautiful hotel, next to a nice casino and close to saguaro national park

Hotel rooms are really nice and so convenient to the casino and concert venue. One of the nicest hotels that I stayed out during my 3 week long road trip. I didn't go the casino or pool, but also liked the location to the Desert Museum and Saguaro National Park East.

This hotel is just a few steps away from the casino, where all the dining options are located. It was quiet and our room was very comfortable and clean. It would be nice if there were a coffee bar in the lobby of this property. The location is about 30 minutes away from downtown Tucson.

Having the casino adjacent to this property was great. Lots of restaurants to choose from. Only negative is no room service available.

Dining options are in the casino next door, and we had some of the worst meals ever at the ones we tried. Plus the casino environment is super loud and annoying- not at all a comfortable place to have a relaxing meal.

I play a lot of blackjack. I have hosts throughout vegas and some cruise lines. The sode bets and especially the Free Bet blackjack variations are awful. I cannot fathom how a buffet closes at 7pm on a friday night. We then tried to go to sushi and were told it was a 90 minute wait for our pwrty of 3 although the restaurant was half empty and there was not a single person seated at the sushi bar. We ghen tried mobys which was a 40 minute wait and again the restaurant was mostly empty. What horrific service and staffing. Do better we have options.
