Ixchel Beach Hotel

Room was spacious and good. We didn’t do a nicer room so the window is small and you had to get up to see out. Great access to beach and loved the free beach chairs and umbrellas. Location was fantastic. Staff very nice. The restaurant was decent for food. Pool was good.

We just left from our 4 night stay at Ixchel. This hotel exceeded our expectations in regard to location and facilities. The hotel is right on the beach with an abundance of beach chairs for guests. The beach is stunning and the lovely staff were available to serve drinks and food while at your beach chair. The two pools were smaller than we imagined, but still great from refreshing dip. The hotel rooms were clean, large and very beautifully decorated. The hotel is locate don the main dining street so a quick walk to many amazing restaurants. Another bonus was the use of a washing machine and dryer during our stay. We ate at the hotel restaurant a few times for lunch and food was very good...as well as the 2-4-1- cocktails all day long!

An average property. Room cleaners were good and cleaned thoroughly daily, but overall, nothing special. The pool is very small and extremely hot, definitely needs a chiller installed, was not able to enjoy or relax. The beach was clean and the water/seabed was free from stones and grass.

All the blue beaches chairs that the hotel owns are not free and you can’t go down to the beach early and save them, if no one is sitting in them for about 45 minutes the staff removes your stuff and takes it up to the office

Great property with a nice pool with direct access to the beach. They provide beach and pool lounge chairs and towels. Staff was courteous and attentive. Food options were limited on site, but what we did eat was really good. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

We went on spring break and being able to walk out and never worry about chairs and umbrella was perfect! The pools were nice and the kids enjoyed going from the beach to the pools.

Room was clean and well maintained. AC worked adequately (as far as México goes in our experience) Right on north beach, you’re paying for the location, not necessarily the room or amenities. Includes beach chairs and umbrellas on the beach. One day it seemed full and the towel guy pulled out 2 more chairs and dug a hole and plopped an umbrella down for us. We did not use the pools, one seemed to be in the sun all day and one was out of the pool. Drinks on the beach from Kalak were average for the island beaches both as far as flavor and cost. Not cheap. Snacks we got were not worth our time or money from the restaurant. Only made that mistake twice. Rest of the time we walked to Hidalgo and ate at a restaurant. Bonus is it’s close to the street food cards in the evenings, tacos, tortas, churros. Our favorites were Tacos Toros, great great tacos. Our favorites were the shrimp and pastor. The 3 guys hamburger cart is sneaky good. I ate there a couple nights and honestly best burger I’ve have in quite a while. All in all a great place to stay and we will definitely consider this place on our next trip to our favorite vacation spot

Proximity to the beach and umbrella with chairs included, hard to beat. However, if you weren’t one of their “special” guests, you weren’t allowed to save a beach chair in the morning. This was super confusing and inconvenient. The food was okay but definitely overpriced as were the drinks. It was nice to be served on the beach and the wait staff were all fabulous. Overall, would recommend.

This hotel is right on the beach, each room has a view to the water. The staff on site are very friendly and approachable. It is very close to restaurants and little shops. The rooms are spacious and clean. There is very well kept pool.

This property is under construction and NOWHERE did it say this when I was reserving. When we were checking in, we could hear all the noise and I specifically asked if I would be able to hear those sounds of hammering and drilling from my room and I was told no; only to be right under a room where it was going on every day from 10am to 5pm! There is no where where you won’t hear the noise.

Fabulous hotel on the beach with complementary beach chairs. The housekeeping staff were outstanding. The hotel provided water for drinking too. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Will stay again!

Very nice hotel super clean

We stayed at Ixchel for week and really loved our stay. It was our first time at this hotel. We stayed in a standard room that had a beautiful view. For our family of 3, we had just enough space, but if you are 4 people I think it would be very tight. Next time we will likely book a larger room with a terrace. The beds and pillows were super comfortable which isn’t always the case in Mexico. Our room was cleaned to perfection daily- it was spotless. The hotel is on the best stretch of beach on Playa Norte and a quick walk to town for dinner and shopping. We never had to fight for loungers on the beach even though people saved them. There were always staff putting out more. We only had snacks and drinks at the restaurant, but the food we had was very good. Drinks were mid- we were better off buying beers or canned drinks at the oxxo. Everyone who works at the hotel was very helpful and kind. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Isla.

The hotel is located on Playa Norte and the beach section is exactly what was expected. The staff was inviting and very professional. In general the hotel is relaxing and quaint. Our room was a standard that became available last minute on Expedia. The room was spacious and had the basic amenities. The TV was tiny and out dated, but not a deal breaker. I would stay here again but get the upgraded beachfront room. Also, the strip is walking distance. Definitely recommend this hotel for relaxing and to recharge.

The location is perfect (right on North beach, which is usually very busy, and right in town). The location couldn't be better if you want to be in the middle of everything. The small pool was lovely, and the on-site restaurant was good. I did have one concern that was resolved very well. I had booked an "ocean front" room which I thought would mean right on the ocean, walk out access, but to this hotel it means 'ocean facing' on the 5th floor. I expressed my disappointment that the room wasn't ocean front, and they did their best to accommodate me, and ended up giving me a very lovely room, on the ground floor, with direct beach access. So be aware that the "Ocean Front" room means 'facing the ocean', not direct access to the ocean. But I give this hotel staff high marks for making my stay so wonderful!

Property was nice and clean, water was beautiful. Service was great, Henrique took very good care of us. The whole staff was very nice and friendly.

Furniture is worn out, WC stained and my son hurt his leg with a piece of glass/ceramic in his bed. Manager apologized to my son, I appreciated it and they made a dog figure with the towel for him but honestly this hotel was far from being what I read/saw online. The location is great as it’s on Playa Norte and it’s right at the Main Street with restaurants and souvenirs. So location wise was great but the hotel is overrated.

The best beach on the island, just steps outside the hotel front door. Rooms and hotel were clean, staff was very friendly and accommodating, slightly older building and not what you picture as a resort room but definitely all we needed. Will opt for a smaller room without a balcony next time as we spent as much time as we could on the beach. Easy to get a beach chair, go earlier if you want a front row. Not the best cocktails but I think that’s to be expected in this area, best to stick with beer and tequila sippers if you like good cocktails. Didn’t eat any hotel food because there are plenty of great options a 5 minute walk down Hidalgo street. Will definitely be back!

Staff is always fabulous here. Room was great, view is awesome and the staff and food are consistently awesome. Hugo served us multiple times for food and cocktail and his service is always with a smile. We've stayed here numerous times and it always meets our expectations and then some!

The room was very clean, nice, and comfortable. Great balconies to sit on. All have an ocean view, which is nice. The walls are paper thin, so if there is a screaming baby in the other room, you will hear it. Luckily we only had a screaming baby neighbor the last night we were there. (People, please leave your kids at home!) The beach and water are beautiful! But the beach is PACKED full of chairs and people. Luckily you can sit for free in the hotel beach chairs BUT half the beach in front of the hotel is reserved for the hotel next door… so just be aware. The staff are all very nice and lovely. Super helpful. Isla Mujeres is packed full of people and most restaurants are blasting music as loud as possible, so be aware that everywhere is loud. Even when sitting on North Beach. We had a great time, but probably won’t go back to this island.

Loved staying here so close to everything and beautiful beach. Had an issue with room and management took care of us right away. Definitely would stay again.

I've stayed here many times. We absolutely love it here. Already planning the next adventure. We love the staff. The view. The beach. Everything is wonderful.

The whole experience it was amazing, the staff and service, I have a inconvenience with my phone and the manager run to fixed it, I will come back next year.

Overall our stay was good. The Ixchel is very conveniently located within walking distance to the main shopping and restaurant area. The room was clean and simple and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We were there in August...and it was HOT...our room's AC worked well and was a welcomed relief after a hot day on the beach. The only complaint that I have about the Ixchel is that upon check-in, they gave us the incorrect room. My friend and I booked a double room and they gave us a King. They told us over and over again they didn't have a double, but we were quite upset as we didn't want to share a bed and insisted they keep checking. After about 10 minutes of persistence, they magically were able to find a room with two beds. I have read other reviews of this happening to other people and while we were waiting, a young lady said it had happened to her and her mother too. Aside from that snafu, the stay was enjoyable, but I would probably only return to the Ixchel if I was travelling with my spouse and only needed one bed; it seems like being assured of getting a room with two beds is a big problem for them. The beach was wonderful. We had great service from Armando and all the other beach servers were kind and attentive. The pool area and hotel grounds were clean and well kept. We packed lightly so a nice surprise was the laundry facilities available for guests. 55 pesos each for the washer and dryer on the main floor of building one.

The service was top notch and if we needed anything or had questions it was taken care of right away. Our server on the beach was Eloy and he was SPECTACULAR! He deserves employee of the YEAR!

This was the first time staying at the Ixchel and we had a wonderful experience. The location is perfect for getting to all the places we wanted to go, but you do have to figure out the one ways if you rent a cart. The staff at the front desk, bar, and servers were great! The only complaint I have about service was that one morning e put our towels on chairs and then went to breakfast. When we came back they took our towels off and when we asked them what happened, they did not acknowledge our concern, but they did have our stuff. Besides that, the service was great and the property was clean.

Staff is nice but do not communicate along shifts in order to assist you.

It is on Playa Norte, steps away from the main shopping/dinning street. There is a golf cart rental business on the way to the shopping/ dinning street. Beautiful view from the room.

Location, location, location - right on Playa Norte which is the most famous beach in Isla Mujeres. Yes, it is a busy area, but if you want to be 'in the thick of things', this is a great place. Great staff. Very friendly. Only a hundred yards from Hidalgo (the 'main drag') of restaurants, etc. So much to see and do in such a small area. Rented a golf cart from the place on site and had a great time around the island one day. Went 'whale sharking' with Jasmin Tours (can't recommend them strong enough). Had a great time in Isla.

Fantastic location right on Playa Norte. Easy walk to lots of restaurants (100-200 yards). Of course it is in a busy area. Great place to spend a vacation in Isla.

This hotel was beautiful and the beach was pristine. Unfortunately there was a palapa on the beach in front of the hotel that had blaring music all night until 5am. I’ve never had such an intense night at a hotel. It wasn’t just inconvenient it was ridiculously loud and unbearable. Unfortunately it was outside of the hotel’s control, so there was nothing they could do. This hotel would have been wonderful otherwise.

Beautiful beachfront hotel! We spent one night on Isla Mujeres, and I had a great time with my family. We ordered food right on the beach to watch the sunset, and it was delicious. Chepo took our order, and he was very friendly and helpful

Absolutely beautiful view and friendly staff. The room was amazing. We had a two room suite which included a condo style apartment with an additional room attached for the kids. The restaurant was outside and was limited for choices. But worked well for beach food at the chairs. It was super loud and noisy Saturday night due to a neighboring club having a special function that went til 4:30a (we weren’t excited about that) Also, there is a public street that separates the two hotel buildings. This made it so the hotel didn’t feel as private especially when you would go to the beach. A lot of random tourists from the ferry or catamaran tours would crowd your seating area and literally park right in front of you. The beach was great to walk and the famous walking street was a block away. Easy access to other restaurants. I would come back easily.

This is a really great place to stay in Isla Mujeres! They have beach fiod and drink aervices from the hotel bar and restaurant. We had breakfast seevice while sitting on the bach. It was amazing and the foid was really good. Great location - about 12 minuts walk from the Ferry. There us EVERYTHING in walking distance. The staff were very nice and professional

The staff at Ixchel was amazing during our entire trip. Our 2 bedroom room was perfect for our group, and the food and drinks were delicious.

GREAT place to stay right on Playa Norte!! Sand felt amazing. Easy to get a chair/unbrella. Service was great! Only suggestion I have is to improve restaurant and drink offerings at the resort…but there were MANY amazing options just a few blocks away.

Ixchel is located in the perfect spot, walking distance to everything in downtown area. The property is beautiful and ckean. The staff is amazing and the food from onsite restaurant Kalak was delish.
