Old fashioned low rise California seaside hotel (probably predates self proclaimed communist Cal Coastal Commission). No elevators. Walkways are half way between upper floor and lower floor. Palm tree lined next to Marina South parking lost has a lot of marina traffic and parking. Not 100% quiet as the roar of naval aviation from North Island can surprise guests not used to this. Yet, the sight of “fighter town USA” as featured in the original Maverick movie is truly impressive. The hotel rooms were very well kept, the vintage is a charm and summer concert season is pretty fun. Walkable, but not parking prohibitive. Nice balance overall. Fun pool bar, pool has extended after dark hours in summer time. Very enjoyable stay!

Starting with compliment the resort was beautiful. Many beautiful plants & flowers really gives it the "resort" vibe. The pool area was lovely with lots of seating; loungers, tables, chairs. I wish I had more positive things to say, but that's where my compliments end. At check-in we waited for about 10 minutes before we were acknowledged by staff (who was filling the snackbar area.) When she was finished with that task, she eventually came to the check-in counter, still not acknowledging us, until she did a few tasks at desk, then finally asked what we needed. Not warm or welcoming. We were early arrival, and informed our room wasn't ready she said we would receive a call when it was. We then had to ask for a pool key, not offered up. We spent time in the pool, and a few hours after the guaranteed check-in time, still no call, or so we thought. When I went to the desk and asked, they informed me our room was ready, I asked why no call, the attendant looked at my phone, identified a number from my log as their number. They left no voice message or text, letting me know it was ready. They did offer to pay for my parking and give me a late checkout as compensation, but nothing more. We did not get into our room until 6:00ish. Upon receiving keys they then informed us that under no circumstances were we to go onto our balcony (due to concert.) Was not given any warning about this when booking or asked at check-in if we wanted a different room. Not sure we will return.
