Poppies

There was no hair dryer, and I was worried I would catch a cold after taking a shower.

Great stay in a very comfortable quiet location, the hotel its self was very clean, with a great vibe. I was welcomed upon arrival by an extremely helpful young lady the keyless entry system is a fantastic idea and worked like a dream. The room was clean compact and very comfortable nice bathroom and very quiet bed was awesome! Check out was just as easy! A little of the beaten track however worth the ferry crossing and the 15 mins walk there’s supermarkets, eateries Amsterdam speciality shops and such friendly people. The hotel also has food coffee( which is great) very cheap accommodation also based on Amsterdam prices, especially for a comfy double!

Whilst I get the self-serve, minimalist pod concept and it's done well by the likes of citizenM, Poppies just comes across as scrimping - when you've spent so much money to build a hotel, not adding some small things that make a big difference to business travellers really does seem like penny pinching. The rooms are extremely small, literally just a bed. No iron in room and only 2 in the hotel meaning often not available. Nowhere to hang your clothes - IMO if you're not providing somewhere to hang clothes then you need to have plenty of irons available. No hair dryers in room. Also - you should be aware the rooms have no windows.

This is a capsule hotel. The room is as large as the bed. There are 2 storage drawers underneath the bed for luggage, but will only fit backpacks or small carry on bags. If you have checked-size luggage, there is literally no place to put it at all and this is not the hotel for you. Each room does have a private bathroom which is the best part of it! The whole room was immaculate when we checked in and they come every 2nd day to refresh the towels and such. The bed and pillows are super comfy! But the room only comes with 1 duvet style blanket. No top sheet, no additional cover. Just the 1 double bed size duvet to cover a king size mattress. I'm sure it's perfect for a single traveler, but it is a little tough to try to fully cover 2 people. My biggest (and really only) complaint is their rules about food. They ask you not to eat in the rooms which makes sense given their tiny size and lack of eating space. So when we bought some sandwich supplies from the local store, we figured we would sit at their outside tables. Someone came out from the front desk and informed us that we couldn't eat our own food there. When we tried to explain we were staying at the hotel, we were still told we were not allowed to eat there due to the cafe "being a paid cafe". So not allowed to eat in the rooms and also not allowed to eat outside unless you buy their own food because I guess spending several hundred Euro on a room doesn't count as being a paid guest

The cafe is so convenient and has delicious lattes and a decent breakfast. The bathroom is spacious and super clean- would stay here again for the cafe and convenience alone.

I think this hotel is best suited for individuals who travel light and do not want to eat or drink in the hotel room. I have stayed at several hotels in a lot of countries and I never heard of this policy and I just reviewed the description snd it does not state the hotels policy but when I checked into the room there was a sign indicating that guests are not to eat or drink in the room but instead to eat and drink in the lobby area. I stayed at another hotel in Amsterdam which provided glasses and complimentary bottled water and they agreed this policy is odd. I am writing about this in the review so guests are not surprised because like I stated its not indicated in the listing description. If I had known about this policy I would have booked somewhere else. Slso the room is very compact and there is no space to set your luggage without having to step over it so I think this hotel is better suited to those who travel with a backpack. Luckily my next hotel had more space and I was more comfortable.

I enjoyed my stay at the Poppies! The cleanliness was on point. The rooms were very small though, but the vibe was excellent! Their cafe was the only thing not up to par. The food was costly and taste was average. :(

Great place to stay in Amsterdam. Around 10-15 minute walk to metro station and bus stops. You can get to Central Station in around 5 minutes. Room was a bit tight, but clean and comfy beds. Cafe at the reception is good and great prices.

Poppies is a little gem in Noord Amsterdam. Noord is less busy than city central with cute neighborhoods and the shipping area has been revamped into entertainment and dining. Poppies is the perfect location to explore Amsterdam. The staff is excellent and make you feel like family. The cafe has excellent coffee and food for purchase. The rooms are very small, but the beds are very comfy.

This is a small pod style hotel. It’s cheap. Super quiet. Great location. The bed fills 90% of the floor area. It would be tricky to manage big luggage. The bed is huge. The bathroom is fantastic and super clean. The attached cafe serves simple but great food and the staff are really friendly

Le seul problème c’est que nous n’avons pas compris pourquoi nos serviettes et nos draps n’ont pas été changées durant les quatre jours de notre séjour, sinon tout était très bien

Nice, cosy little place, staff is generally kind and helpful. Good location with easy access to city centre by bus. Several issues with the housekeeping during our stay, though. They forgot to give us fresh towels several times, so i had to go and ask each time. The information given by the hotel read that they provided fresh linens every 4 days. However, they changed our sheets only in the 4th day during our 10 day stay, even though i asked them to change sheets on the 8th day they did not. It's a pretty small room without any space to move around which is fine but things get dirty very easily especially after travelling all day long. So when i mentioned this issue with the HK the reception guy made a snarky comment saying that nobody stays that long so they don't know about this. I mean, what? Apart from this, we had a pleasant stay, good value for money since we had a private bathroom which wasn't offered by establishments in this price range.

Staff was very friendly and accommodating! Not far from bus station and train station. Grocery and convenience stores are in walking distance. Only complaint is that the room I stayed in was very dusty and could have used a quick cleaning before I checked in. Otherwise everything was great!

Its good for a night or 2 for a solo traveler, or very close couple. It will do the job and not break the bank. If you want to be out of the mix, this is the place. A decent walk to the city center or Centraal which will both require a ferry but that has its pros and cons. Nice and welcoming staff at counter and their late checkout option was an awesome deal for a sleepy traveler. Overall could not spend a week here, but for the price it can save you some money on a friday and Saturday night stay in Amsterdam on dates where it gets real expensive. Also room itself is not a pod, but there are no windows. I can sleep pretty good in tight quiet spaces like this but might not be for everybody

No window and room opens literally into a big closet, with about 2 feet of walk way. Extremely unsafe from a fire exit perspective by having one exit, which is the door. Should have posted more pictures to show the true room size. We wasted our money and had to go to another hotel and pay extra. They did not refund, do yourself a favor and don't book here.

The room is small but the focus is on the right things - comfortable bed, clean & modern bathroom. It was rather self service so there wasn't much staff interaction. The staff that worked the cafe wasn't overly friendly but the coffee was tasty. It was a bit of a journey into Copenhagen (I used the ferry) but overall was happy with the location and value.

We really enjoyed our stay at Poppies! All of the staff were super friendly, it is very easy to check in and out and we found the place very clean and tidy. Perfect for a short stay. We also hired the bikes which were great value for money. There is not much going on in the area but it is just a short train ride into central Amsterdam. Would stay again, thank you!

Room is okay. Small with no window but they make up for it with modern touches and clever lighting. However, anything longer than a 2 day stay starts to feel a bit prisony... Staff weren't that friendly either, food was often not available.

Really enjoyed our stay. Room had all we needed and local area had good spots (cafe de cuevel & klaproos for pizza!). Great location for easy travel into central and for the straat museum too. Staff at Poppies were super friendly and helped us out, as our first room was a bit noisy and we got upgraded no issues. Thanks for having us - we will definitely recommend this place

Very nice place, cozy and comfy. Not so far away from the center, you can reach the centraal station in 5 minutes with a bus station nearby. I would definitely recommend this place.

Really nice and good value for money! In a very nice part of Amsterdam and very good transport links into Centraal.

Excellent stay. 40 min walk from the centre but nice ans has a great atmosphere.

New 'pod' type hotel in North of Amsterdam. Rooms are small but functional and well designed, there is a nice 'hipster' style café in the reception with good coffee. Positives: -Clean, -Aesthetically well designed (mid-centery modern with modern bright colors) - Nice and helpful staff - Nice café / reception area - Reasonable price - Convenient if you want to do things in Amsterdam Noord Negatives: -No windows in rooms (there is air conditioning but it felt stuffy at night — this also likely the reason no take-out food allowed in room, there's no way to let it air out), -Bedding not great. Pillows very high and duvets felt a bit synthetic, i.e., not breathable. I'd never noticed this in a hotel before but I slept badly and woke up too hot. But I did not ask if they had other pillows. - Not convenient for the city center / museums etc. (metro bus or ferry bus / 20 minute walk).

Excellent location in a quiet suburb but with amazing local cafes, parks and restaurants. Only takes ten minutes to walk to the metro station and then you can be at all the tourist locations in just a few minutes. Staff were really friendly and gave good recommendations for local places to eat. Room was small but very clean and high quality. Shower was amazing. All in all perfect if you just need a place to sleep while you spend your time exploring Amsterdam.

The rooms are very tiny, and no windows, but we had the BEST sleep ever. All 4 of us (in 2 rooms) slept 12 hours the first night! Haven't done that in a long time! There is some kind of a vibe goin' on that we just really enjoyed. Staff was amazing. Short walk to Amersterdam Central Station. The breakfast and coffee they serve was really delicious. Menu is small, but really good. Would definitely stay again.

Great breakfast and comfortable bed.

Overall nice but let down by a couple of points. The room was small but efficient, the bed comfy but pillows not. The air con in my room also stopped working after a few minutes of running so the room got uncomfortably hot overnight. Breakfast not served until 9am which is far too late, some pastries and coffee available at 8am.
