Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta - All Inclusive

Only one elevator in our building worked. Too many inflatable devices in the pools. Jacuzzi’s weren’t heated. Eating and drinking IN THE POOL should be prohibited. no one wants to see floating taco chips in the pool. Drinking water was not automatically replaced in the mini bar. Had to call room service for WATER.room not cleaned until late in the day. By then we’re back in the room. Not staffed properly for the number of guest. Food has greatly improved from last stay. So that is a plus. Most of the people working there were extremely nice. But the hotel makes them put their hand over their heart when they greet you. Made me feel like they were part of some cult. It’s not a Mexican thing. Probably saw that in move.

We had a wonderful stay but lunch was the only let down if you had a cabana you could order pool side if not a cabana you could not order food at pool . All the other hotels I stay At let me order poolside.

The spa was great, we had a couples massage done by Flor and Francisco which was amazing. The food was good and our room fridge was stocked with soda, beer and water. Angel at the buffet was very attentive and accommodating. Will be returning soon.

We arrived in the off season so the property wasn't as full. This was great for us because we didn't have to fight for lounge chairs or beach chairs and palapas. The hotel itself is showing its age and could be cleaner. Some of the outdoor bathrooms appear to not be regularly maintained and are missing toilet paper. Some are also very dirty and have holes in the walls. I didn't find the amenities to be top notch, it was hard to get pool Service and Beach service. Most of the time we had to get drinks ourselves. The nightly entertainment was lacking, and unfortunately the things we were looking forward to were canceled because of rain, which obviously is unpredictable. The rooms could be better equipped with smart TVs and better water pressure. The food wasn't great either although I don't expect much from all inclusive these days, the best was the Mexican for dinner and blaze for lunch. The children's menu sucked because there were no healthy options just deep fried foods that kids don't need to be eating. The chicken had more breading than actual chicken and the corn dog was just a deep fried mini sausage. All in all we had a good time because the pools were lovely and the beach was amazing. The staff is amazing though, very quick and responsive and polite. I'm not sure I would come back to this resort.

The Blaze restaurant is excellent for breakfast and lunch. Staff is wonderful. Beach is short but beautiful with turtle sanctuary. Property is under much needed renovation. Our AC was not working properly and staff upgraded us to another room.

During our stay, the entire building’s air-conditioning system failed and we were without AC for two nights. Puerto Vallarta has humid and hot weather as it is, and this caused terrible sleep and unenjoyable days and nights in the hotel room. They also only provided fans if you requested them. Other than that, we had a good time. Food is good and service was excellent.

Construction was noisy & messy

We had a wonderful stay. Room was clean and great view. Staff were lovely. Food was good (some wins, some misses). Property and Pools were great.

I stayed at Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta in July 2025 for 3 nights with my family in an ocean view room. The beach was beautiful, the weather was perfect, and the view from our room was definitely the highlight of our stay. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was disappointing. The food buffet was a letdown — tables were sticky, and I recorded a video showing mosquitos swarming uncovered fruit that no one bothered to replace. Cleanliness and food safety were clearly neglected. At the outdoor poke station, only one overwhelmed staff member was preparing bowls for over 10 people. I waited more than 25 minutes for a small bowl while he struggled to keep up — doing his best, but clearly understaffed. We also tried to get a drink at the pool bar, but again, only one person was working — preparing drinks not just for the general guests but also for those in the paid cabanas. After waiting 20 minutes without being served, we gave up and walked away. I mostly stayed on the beach, which was relaxing, so I didn’t use the pools much. However, I did report my concerns about cleanliness to the staff, and while they said someone would follow up, no one ever did. Given the service issues and overall lack of management, I don't feel the experience was worth the price. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this resort based on my stay.

Resort is lovely. I ve been a guest since 1982. The grounds are very well kept. The room was very clean, spacious and well decorated. The pools were spotless and the restaurants were quite good.

Beware of food poisoning, cockroaches and dirty pools! After reading others mixed reviews we decided to stay at Ziva because of the location and the beach - both of which were a delight. However, I got severe food poisoning our first night from room service and spent the majority of our time stuck in bed and had to see a doctor. In addition to that, we had a swim up room and the pool was slimy and full of debris and even a few cigarette butts. The pool has no filter on one end so all the trash and slime ends up in half the pool. Add in the cockroaches in our room (somewhat to be expected in tropical climates), and constant construction everywhere, and I would not recommend anybody stay here.

All the staff was friendly, great food, very clean resort and room, and everything was very organized.

The room was not cleaned properly. We had a dead roach plus baby roaches. Walking to the room there was alot of construction and the area smelt.

We paid for an upgraded balcony room and the first room they put us in was a nightmare. It was dirty , run down, the a/c was broken and there was smells of mold and chemicals. It did not seem to match the property and we were very surprised they put us in this room. After over 24 hours and many conversations with the front desk and management they changed us to a new room which was actually very nice. I would not be able to confidently re-book or recommend the resort because I don't know which room would be given. It was two totally different experiences and it was actually a stressful and upsetting first 24 hours. The beach was the highlight, it's a beautiful private beach and makes the property very special. The breakfast and lunch was solid , the dinner was not great would definitely recommend going to town for excellent dining options. If I knew I would be getting a clean room that didn't smell like chemicals or mold with an a/c that worked I would absolutely go back, I just can't guarantee that would happen based on our experience.

Beautiful Property, amazing views to Ocean, I got the Swim Up room they are the best. The buffet need attention and major improvements. Restaurants are good. I will be back

There was construction going on and the paint fumes were horrible. We had to change rooms, which the staff was fantastic in getting us to a new room. The employees were amazing throughout the stay!!!

Room was very spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable.

Property was clean. There were not a lot of activities to do. We stayed in the preferred building and the pounding of the waves roared all night through the windows.

He welcomes guests with the energy of someone excited to be there. It sets the tone immediately. Registration was fast and seamless. The front desk already had all reservation details from Hotels.com. No delays. No back and forth. The room exceeded expectations. The view was beautiful. The room was quiet, very clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable. Rest came easy. There were plenty of outlets to charge phones and devices, which shows attention to real guest needs. Every employee went above and beyond. Staff members were attentive, proactive, and clearly proud of their work. You feel taken care of at every step. The operation feels organized and calm. Pools and restaurants were excellent. They never felt crowded. Service remained consistent throughout the stay.

Large, clean rooms with great views. Food is okay, management is great and willing to help where needed without question. The only thing is that resort is rates as family friendly, but it gets pretty loud at night because of a lot of events (weddings, etc.). Also the beach is very nice and clean, but the waves are large, so not recommended for kids.

The location is secluded with its own beach. Felt very safe. The rooms were clean and spacious. The pools were nice as well. The food was just ok. Bland. The drinks were also just ok. It was our first time in PV for our family and it was a good choice for our first time there. Just avoid the timeshare presentation that they will try to get you to attend when you check in. They say it will take 30 minutes and you will get a free massage. Took 2.5 hours instead. The staff were wonderful otherwise.

We loved our time at Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta. We stayed at a room not yet renovated at the main tower, and it was absolutely amazing: spacious, convenient and well furnished. We could not believe it was one of the "old" rooms. The dining options are excellent, with plenty of options for everyone. Our preferred place was the beach: beatiful, safe, with easy access and, in practice, for resort guests only. The stores inside the resort were closed, and would like to have the opportunity to buy small stuff, including souvenirs, in the hotel, without the need for a trip to town.

The Hyatt Ziva is a beautiful resort. I really like the slow pace and that the beach is private. I didn’t feel bombarded. My only complaint is the pressure the resort gives to go to their presentation. Overall the staff is wonderful and when they greet you they put their hand over their heart. It’s endearing.

The drinks were delicious the bartenders would always recommend something for you and if you didn’t like it they’d take it back right away. The pools were so clean and clear, especially with so many people in them throughout the day! The buffet was great for breakfast, could have move variety at lunch but the shrimp was amazing! Blaze was good but the highlight of our trip was the steak and lobster special with sushi at the sports bar! Spa was clean and I had a manicure, however it didn’t last more than a couple hours so that was a bit disappointing. Overall highly recommend this resort! Family friendly, friends trip or romance friendly as well!

We were greeted upon our arrival. I loved the room we were given with the pool! Amazing views and great beach. Great hospitality and service! We enjoyed the spa and the gym facilities. We loved all the entertainment and performances. The food and drinks were great for all inclusive! The hotel is only 10-15 mins via car to the zone romantica and the boardwalk. They even have umbrellas for you in case it rains. Our bar server Jose was the best always checking in if we needed anything from our pool. Would definitely recommend and come again. I never spent that much time at a hotel on my vacation and I had so much fun the swim up pool was great.

Pros: most of the staff was lovely, spectacular views, beautiful beach, decent food Cons: not really kid friendly, loud foam party & DJ hours. Loud live music that shook our room until 10pm. Room we booked was not available when we arrived—no apologies or discount. My family of 3 only had one bed for the first night then had to move rooms when 2 bed room (that we book and paid for) became available. The biggest con for us is that it was very hard to watch kids in the pool. Every chaise lounge you see in the water in pictures and every chair that is directly poolside you have to PAY extra (minimum $100 USD) to use. Those chairs are reserved for cabana clients only. My kid isn’t a good swimmer, so it was stressful not being able to easily keep an eye on him. Instead of sitting under and umbrella watching him, I had to sit on the edge of the pool in the sun to make sure he was safe. It’s a huge bummer they prioritize squeezing more money out of guests than letting them comfortably keep their kids safe. Parents were taking shifts poolside to watch a group of kiddos, while some went to get water & shade. Not exactly the luxury vacation we paid for. Being hustled to rent a cabana was tiresome. We paid a lot to be there and rented an upgraded room—and the poolside waitstaff treated us like second class citizens because we were not in a cabana. The “kids club” is not really much of anything, just a few basic art projects a few times a day.

Overall our experience was wonderful! Our only concern was upon our arrival we were offered to attend a presentation ( timeshare presentation) to get extra gifts for our stay. Since we had had a not so positive experience previously with this type of presentation we kindly shared our experience and declined the offer. We explained to him we were there to relax. He seemed a bit upset about our decision but continued to persist. He walked us to our tour and left us not very happy. We just recommend that when a guest says no thank you they respect that answer and don’t create an uncomfortable situation. After that incident everything else was wonderful especially our pool server, Edwin. Our waiter at Blaze Edwin and chef Edgar. Our waiter at Pureza was wonderful too! Another recommendation would be to offer more food options for those enjoying the pool and beach and don’t want to go to a restaurant to each. The Refresco bar was very convenient but other options are needed in our opinion.

The food was good at times average. Nothing was truly exquisite. You would think that they would have at least really good Mexican food but man was I disappointed! The best thing I had was breakfast buffet. The food was honestly good I can’t complain too much about it… the part that really upset me and took away from our experience was how LONG we had to wait for the restaurants!!!!! How are you not going to have a reservation system out in place when your wait time is usually exceeding 30 minutes at each place. Also, shutting down the buffet at dinner except for on Thursdays is absolutely ridiculous!!! Also why did no one tell me this - front desk was great but it would have been nice to know about this important tidbit to help plan dinner time. Beds were very comfortable - pillows need some more filling as they are too flat but this might be a personal preference.

The food and spa were great! Not happy with having to deal with timeshare/membership personal.

The beach is very nice and is great for families.

We stayed here at the end of September through the beginning of October and absolutely loved it! Our weather forecast showed rain every day, but it only rained two nights and didn’t affect our stay at all. Since it was off-season, the resort was much quieter, which we actually preferred, it made the whole experience feel more relaxing and private. The location was perfect, secluded just outside of town with its own private beach. The ocean was so warm and calm that we ended up spending more time there than at the pool. The service from the staff was truly unforgettable, everyone went above and beyond to make our stay special, and it’s one of the main reasons we can’t wait to come back. Overall, it was such a peaceful and memorable getaway that exceeded our expectations. We’d definitely return during this time of year again!

Just a five minute taxi ride to the romantic zone with access to shops and private charter boats for snorkeling and fishing. 20 minutes to the Botanical Gardens and Zip lining by taxi. 35 minutes from the airport. Security at gate, private beach, all inclusive food was good; especially the ocean front restaurant. Would recommend to friends.

The little beach is only accessible from the property or by boat.

The property is secured by nature and gated . The beach can only be accessed by boat or by hotel big rocks and deep see keep walkers away very private and nice . Nice greenery and tropical beaches with high cliffs and views of the mountains.

This is a well maintained resort with friendly staff and good options for food. A quick Uber ride from downtown. Great views and direct beach access.

The Hyatt Ziva is located on a beautiful private Sandy beach. The premises are very clean and staff is incredible, such good service. The breakfast buffet was exceptional, many different choices for breakfast. The food at the various restaurants was also excellent.

If you're looking for private beach all-inclusive experience at a level above the average, this is a good option. It's further from the airport, but not too far.

Although there was many food options, none was much above average or good. Food in general lacked flavors and was salty/greasy. Everything else in the resort was 5/5

I didn't like the drinks. Very low budget alcohol not like the other Ziva properties in Cabo and Cancun. They only leave you 2 beers in the room and 2 snacks a day. Only one option of beer and tasted really bad. Food was good and staff was friendly except one server at the Italian restaurant.

My recent stay at Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta was overall a great experience, but there were a few surprises worth mentioning. The resort itself is beautiful — tucked away on a private beach surrounded by lush hills, it feels like a peaceful escape. The beach is clean and well-maintained, and there’s plenty of room to relax without feeling crowded. The service was excellent across the board. Staff were friendly, professional, and always eager to help, whether we were lounging by the pool or dining at one of the restaurants. The food and drink options were good, but one thing to be aware of: even though it’s advertised as all-inclusive, there were extra charges for “premium” drinks and certain food options. If you wanted top-shelf liquor, better wine, or specific menu items, you had to pay additional fees, which was a bit disappointing. It’s something I wish had been more clearly explained up front. The rooms were spacious, clean, and had stunning ocean views. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves every night was a highlight of the trip. Overall, Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta is a beautiful resort with great service and a relaxing atmosphere. Just keep in mind that not everything is included in the “all-inclusive” price. Great hotel! Beautiful views, beautiful beach, amazing buffet selection. Actual clean/healthy food. This resort was amazing, however I went during the week Mon-Fri and not sure how busy it gets on the weekends. Thursday night the restaurants started getting crowded. Most don’t open until 5-6pm and you have to make a reservation. There is a Buffett for breakfast/lunch open during select hours (not for dinner). The beach was amazing and big. Enough space to not feel crowded & secluded from other tourists/hotels. I would say this hotel is #1 for the beach, as the other resorts had smaller beaches which are more crowded. My only complaint is they advertise as all-inclusive (which most things are) except the spa which is not included. Maybe that’s common knowledge but we were unaware it wouldn’t be included. Overall, the resort was amazing and I would absolutely come back. Gym was clean & spacious, food was good and plentiful, coffee shop was always opened and quick.

My family and I had a wonderful time at the Hyatt Ziva property. The staff is always so kind and welcoming, greeting us with a smile every time. We’ve stayed at several resorts in PV, but this one truly stands out with the best dining options — the food was consistently delicious. Our favorite spot was Blaze, not only for the tasty dishes but also for the breathtaking ocean views. We’ll definitely be visiting again!
