Hacienda Buenaventura Hotel & Mexican Charm - All Inclusive

This resort is unique in that it is very urban once you step outside the front doors. Once inside, it is typical of an AI resort in most ways. I agree with other guests that the wonderful part of this resort is the staff. They work so hard to ensure you have a great time. Is the resort dated? Yes Does the resort have very limited options other than the buffet three times a day? Yes Would you like to feel welcomed and listened to with any query or question? Yes The staff at this resort especially Nancy as a manager of guest services only wants you to be satisfied with your stay. So if you want to come to this resort, keep in mind your expectations should match the price you paid. I enjoyed my time thoroughly and felt privileged to be served especially from the cleaning staff who made the impossible look and feel clean especially by North American standards. Bravo. Sure an easy walk to their beach space was a hassle but you could take a shuttle and I hated that there wasn’t any restroom there but you know it before you go. Also to be remarked upon is the location of the resort. It’s a super quick trip from the airport and yet if you want a place where you have access to all stores and amenities, which also means traffic and noise you should book this resort. Don’t book it if you’re disabled or have any food issues as the stairs / lack of ramps and elevator would be an issue. I enjoyed my time.

Old facility and in poor shape. Only one place to eat with pretty much always the same things. Access to beach through back alleys and very grungy entrance to beach. Not clear on the website that this is NOT a beach front resort. Staff were excellent and very helpful.

No bathroom at the beach access, 5 blocks away. Limited seating around the pool, so if you didn’t put a towel on your chair by 7 am you didn’t get one. Staff was friendly however the hostess for seating was very slow and often left long line ups to enter dining area even though there were many tables available. The food was the same everyday, often not labelled so many people unsure of what it was.

unique hotel mexican style - i like I don't like- not chaise lounges and umbrellas around the pool. Shuttle to the beach dosn't run on regularly.

My husband and I recently returned from a months stay. We chose the Hacienda because we prefer smaller, quaint resorts with traditional colonial Mexican decor. We can\'t say enough about all the employees. Everyone was pleasant, kind, helpful and hard working. On several occasions we experienced and witnessed many employees"going the extra mile". Guest Services, Mariana and Julio were exceptional. I suffered an injury and was taken to emergency, unable to walk. Upon my return they had arranged a room for us on the first floor. Ours was on the 3rd floor, stairs only. We were flying home the next day. The front desk allowed us a late checkout.. Mariana was very thoughtful and brought breakfast to our room, as we were busy packing. We will be forever grateful for her kindness and help. The garden area is lovely and well cared for. Also, the pool and deck area were cleaned nightly. The only complaint is there isn\'t a washroom at the beach club. Although it\'s not far to walk back to the hotel, many stayed at the pool, thus it was to capacity most days.

For our first international family vacation, this turned out to be an amazing first. The kids loved it, it was very safe for them. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. Location was great and being between malls and many other great locations, there was lots to do. They were very helpful for getting taxis and booking adventures. The spa was great and beautiful. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. We all agreed we would come by back.

The place looks very cozy and charming. The buffet was good and appetizing. The pool was full of people on the weekend I went. The room was clean but there was a distinct old musty smelly. The door latch lock was missing and the sliding doors to the terrace didn't lock.

First room was on 3 rd floor, with no wifi. Second room had the worst mold smell ever, plus shower drain was clogged and flooded the room, the safe was broken and the AC cut out They charged me an extra $450. USD to move to another room 3rd room was nicer. Food was recycled , if we had it one night we ate it incorporated into other dishes for a couple days after. The beach was awful, a small strip down an ally where you are accosted by at least 30 different venders, the water was so rough there I tried to swim, got knocked down and couldn’t get back up without two strangers help The pool was ok first thing in the morning but by noon it was a human cess pool, crap that looked like vomit floating on the surface and when we swam clumps of human hair would get caught up in our fingers, just GROSS! I’m typing on my iPad but I am going to complain to Expedia.ca and I have pics on my phone to back it up. Also False advertising, was told there’s a games room with pool table etc. NOT, also a weight/ exercise room …does not exist, it’s a lie, I am so disappointed, this was a very important trip and it was ruined by a shoddy outdated dilapidated place. The final straw was the last day, I had a put in a request the night before for a porter to help with our bags…we waited and waited , finally struggled with them ourselves ( two little old ladies) up and down stairs etc…. Terrible service, would Never recommend to anyone I liked.

All of the staff was wonderful throughout our stay, the property is absolutely gorgeous throughout with tons of plants and flowers all over the place, it definitely has that Mexican charm that it boasts in the name, it’s in a very good location only about 15 minutes from the airport so I wouldn’t recommend spending the $100 to add a shuttle to your package since an Uber is only about $8, the food was great and they had entertainment every other night, lots of restaurants nearby & the Malecón is only about 15 minutes away which I would highly recommend checking out, tons of cool restaurants/bars and shopping, the concierge was extremely helpful with booking excursions and gave us way better rates than anyone we talked to outside of the resort, we talked to so many couples throughout our stay that told us they’ve been coming here for years and I understand why. I’m sure we will be coming back, what a spectacular resort!

Very old property. Very rough and very old outdated rooms. Dirty floors, needs all new renovations in rooms. Very small uncomfortable beds and pillows. Servers, bartenders and staff were amazing and so friendly and fun. Small hotel very traditional Mexican feel but old! Very close to lots of restaurants, beach, marina, airport, downtown all close or all within 10mins! Poolside room 3rd floor #345 we stayed in and you can hear the traffic, hotel is on a main very busy loud road. Only one restaurant for everything all 3 meals a day and buffet style which is always Mexican food. Wouldn’t stay here again. But the staff were all so lovely which made the trip.

The service was great. The food was OK. The cleanliness was good although the building is in need of updating and repair of steps. Furniture in room was broken and a little mold in bathroom. No elevator. No refrigerator or coffee maker in rooms. And we almost got fined because we spilled a little spot of juice on the sheet. We had to complain about this fine and the security guard had a picture of the spot. Really. So we took picture of all the problems in our room which we didn't complain about. They told us not to let it happen again. Oh my LOL. But over all it was fun. Enjoy!

Wonderful old world charm, comfortable beds and great staff. Repairs to shower were done quickly. No elevators is a problem for senior folk. Room was beautiful but just off the street so very noisy if you don't wear ear plugs. Close to everything you'd want to see or do!

The pool and garden area was beautiful and staff were friendly and helpful. Buffet was authentic and tasty. Property was close to airport, marina and beach. The room however had only 1 electrical outlet, AC wasnt great and there was no mini fridge or coffee station. We had to bring our own water bottles to fill in hallways, which were sometimes empty.

En relacion a la habitacion es muy vieja, no se han renovado, la verdad eso no me gusto nada, adicional casi no hay estacionamiento, y tambien indicar que el hotel no esta sobre la playa, esta a dos cuadras (que el hotel cuenta con traslado), la comida esta rica todos los dias y la atencion del personal muy agradable. El WIFI solo es para areas comunes NO en las habitaciones.

The Room was clean but very noisy until 11 pm WiFi is weak in the rooms. They refilled the liquor bottles and I suspect water added. They reuse the plastic drink cups and I saw the staff giving the a quick rinse. Bring your own cup. Food was okay. Overall for the price it wasn’t bad. Staff was excellent

Older building, rooms, and specifically the bathroom and shower area could benefit from an upgrade. The room smelled damp and humid. Staff switched our room to one that did not smell humid. The staff was amazing and friendly. Food was ok many needed better flavor as some were flavorless. Our friend ordered an octopus and it was hard & chewy like a gummy bear.

AC did not keep the room cool. It's was at 78 for the most part, it was not cool enough.

Air conditioner can not be adjusted, rooms are hot. Door knobs and keys are old. Room lighting is poor. Not enough outlets in the room. Rooms need to be remodeled and updated. Staff is friendly. Swimming pool area was nice. Food was good.

It’s old. So. “Traditional”. The “timeshare” type presentation is a thing. So decide for yourself. Communication isn’t the best. We asked for late check out a few times and then was told no and then when we went to check out at noon they said “ you can stay in one room (we had two) until one”. Let’s all be on the same page. It’s frustrating.

I was here with my 8,12, and 20 year old children. The price was way lower than any other all-inclusive in PV, so this isn't a luxury place but a really good value. My kids loved it; outstanding service in the restaurant and at the pool. The only downside was on the last day; we had a late afternoon flight and they wanted to charge us $70/person to go sit by the pool after checkout which left a sour taste in my mouth.

Everyone was so nice there, the garden is beautiful, I loved this place! Lots of Mexican families staying there so the stuff speaks mostly Spanish, be prepared to use lots of google translator if your requests are complex. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for something affordable and want to experience an authentic Mexican hacienda.

They never cleaned are sheets from are room. They throw are prying book in the trash!!!😠 And front desk lady was rude and laughed at us and was sarcastic!!!

We have stayed at this hotel before. The resort is badly out dated now. The A/C isn’t cold, it’s barely fresh. We purchased an oscillating fan to fight the heat. Meals were not top notch but readily available. THIS was the biggest problem. We were urged to go to a 90 minute time share (lasted 3 1/2 hours) we were promised a few free gifts. We were given a ride to a newer updated resort for a time share presentation. We decided to NOT purchase the time share. After that we were treated like crap. Specifically spoke with VERONICA, who was extremely rude & unprofessional. VERONICA didn’t even want to honor the free gifts. She actually told us to find our own ride back to our original resort. It definitely ruined THAT day if our vacation.. we won’t return.

We just returned from a 2 week stay at the Hacienda Buenaventura Hotel & Mexican Charm and overall we were quite pleased with this small, all-inclusive hotel. It’s only a 2 block walk from the beach and a 20 minute bus ride to the Malecon in downtown Puerto Vallarta. Check-in was fast, friendly and efficient. The ladies at the front desk were smiling, obliging and patient with our attempts at speaking Spanish. We asked for a quiet room on an upper floor and were given what we asked for. The “superior” room was spacious with a small but adequate balcony. The air conditioning was a little noisy but it worked well enough for us. The layout of the room was a little different with a “sunken” bedroom and a “sunken” shower/bathtub. Entering the room there was a closet on the right, bathroom on the left and straight ahead three stairs down to the sleeping area that also had a table, two chairs, TV etc. The bathtub/shower, which was imbedded in the floor and surfaced with small tile, was in a separate room with the toilet. There was actually a step down into the tub. Different yes, but still functional. Overall the room and bathroom were in need of a face lift. Everything was clean but the plumbing fixtures were old, the floor tiles were in need of new grout, and the walls in need of a new paint job. Locks on the doors are still keyed and not terribly secure. The rooms do have a safe in which to store your valuables. At least the superior rooms. Can’t speak for the o

The staff are awesome! Very helpful. I had just had surgery and couldn't shower so they moved us to a room with a tub. The AC wasn't working properly in the first room but worked wein the second room. All staff were friendly, courteous, and helping.

The front desk staff was amazing. Lara and Jezicka were very helpful and nice. When we had a small issue they took care of us which made a huge impact on our stay. The bell hops were very helpful with taxis and reconditions for things to see and do. Overall is was a wonderful experience.

El hotel es basico pero Sus trabajadores son muy amables te hacen sentir como en casa , no esta a pie de playa sin embargo te llevan en una camionetita para que no camines . En la playa hay un chico en una palapita sirviendo bebidas tamb vi que tenian ceviche papas y palomitas . Hay camastros y su playa es tranquila no tiene tanta piedra . Lo que tamb me gusto esque esta cerca de donde salen los tours (Caminando como a 5 min) Tienen servicio de resguardo de equipaje eso tamb me gusto

A wonderful place to stay! First time to Puerto Vallarta and we loved it. Easy transportation to the Malecón and old town. Highly recommend, staff are courteous and accommodating. Rooms and grounds are very well kept and clean

This resort is super friendly with staff that have become like family, and the reason we keep coming back. The location is quite convienient, ten minute walk or shuttle to the beach. Also close to the Marina, shopping malls, the casino, and short ride to the Malecon. And Laura will look after you.

Excellent location /pool and experience

I loved the authentic feel of the resort. It felt like a little town. The staff are amazing! I also liked that it wasnt crazy party vibes and much more mellow. More families and locals. The area around the resort doesnt look the nicest but still safe and convenient with lots of shopping near by. It was nice to have beach access as well. The big sell on this place is the staff and local buffet food which i loved. Will visit again!!

lo unico que no me gusto fue que solo tiene un restaurant familiar con poca variedad de comida, no tienen mariscos, el snackde la alberta solo hambuerguesa, hot dog, papas fritas y nachos con queso muy liquido y horrible y ya en la playa no cuentan con snack solo frituras

they advertise 3 restaurants but there is actually only 1 and a snack bar, there dinner service is absolutely horrible same food every night in the buffet, you have to book a spot in the same restaurant to get a actual meal off the menu is a very odd system technically only 1 restaurant, no coffee pot in room had to go down for coffee and sometimes there was no coffee

staff attentive. clean rooms and comfortable! In the 7 days I was there they did have scheduled electricity outage 3 times. Food was average. Not many snacks to choose from at the beach and same every day!

Firstly, compliments to the Chef! Food was excellent all 7 days, breakfast, lunch and supper. Room was very clean, maid service was perfect, AC and Hot shower worked perfect. Small boutique authentic Mexican style hotel, nice evening shows every second night. Lights out at 11;00 am, quiet thereafter. Very family oriented with a mix of International, Canadian, US and local vacationers. Beach is close with hotel shuttle too, but walkable too. Lots around the hotel, walkable. Highly recommend this lovely All Inclusive resort. Will visit again for sure, My husband and I visited Dec 7-14, 2024, senior age. Good mobility walkways and accessibility.

Not as many food options, and the child room is lacking so it’s not something I would recommend if it’s important to you. The one restaurant is adults only, so you are limited to the main buffet if you have kids and there isn’t an insane amount of young kid friendly options. That being said… it’s a beautiful hotel, and everything was fantastic. I would absolutely go here again. Pool is wonderful and the kids area is very cool. The only negative things are the things above, and if you don’t have huge expectations for the kids portion you will absolutely love it here.

Everything about this place was amazing from the staff to the food. I’ve stayed at some of the bigger resorts like the Rius in cancun so if that’s what your looking for this isn’t it. Hacienda Buenaventura has more of a personal feel to it. Definitely smaller and older but I think that’s what makes it special and gives it character. Food was amazing and I think it’s because they’re not cooking for thousands of guests each meal so the quality is the best I’ve had at an all inclusive resort. Staff was awesome and everyone we interacted with was nice and they remembered us each day. I would definitely stay here again

Nuestra estancia fue excelente, la calidad de la comida del bufet & del restaurante a la carta es buenísima, nos gustó que cada noche hacían cena temática como noche mexicana & oriental. La habitaciones están muy limpias y en buen estado, solo falla la red wifi. Todo el personal es muy amable & siempre están al pendiente de atenderte. Lo único que creo que deberían cambiar es que no dejen apartar los camastros de la alberca desde súper temprano por qué a las 9 de la mañana ya están todos apartados. Nos encantó este hotel, sin duda regresaremos!

Room air conditioning was very poor. They did offer another room which had a cockroach bug in it! Gross. Food was disappointing. Not much variety. Drinks all tasted weird. Only beer and juice was normal. We stayed 2 days and that was more than enough. The property is beautiful though. Well manicured and quaint.
