The property is in a beautiful setting on a golf course. Plentiful free parking and peaceful surroundings, but still close to everything. Finding the room was difficult Lot of convoluted hallways and stairs with many half floors, etc. In itself not a problem but the directions to the rooms need to be a lot clearer. The room was beautiful, clean and spacious. One oddity was that the liquid soaps in the rooms were crazy diluted. Barely more than water. Needed 4 or 5 pumps to have anything left by the time hand got to body to wash. The lotions were fine.

Beautiful hotel in what looks like a castle. The grounds and indoor spaces are stunning. Great food, drinks, and service. Possibly the best indoor swimming pool I’ve ever seen at a hotel. Can definitely recommend!

Lots of parking and comfortable beds. Rooms spacious and clean. We did have to queue for 20 minutes to get in for breakfast but it was good quality once we got in. Food in the brasserie was ok for dinner. We didn’t use the leisure facilities but they looked good. There is a games room but some of the equipment and room itself could do with updating.

Fabulous venue. The whole place is immaculate. Car park is perfectly located and safe. The plentiful staff from concierge to room cleaners were helpful, friendly and professional. Our room was spotlessly clean, very comfortable beds, good Wi fi, quiet and plenty of hot water in bath/shower when needed. The breakfasts were amazing from fruit, cereals, cold meats to the full Scottish available by buffet, with as much tea as you want. The Pentland restaurant serves imaginative food of the highest quality. The bar was cosy serving a large variety of beers, wines and spirits. We enjoyed it so much we have booked to return next year.

Room was clean and refreshed every day. Staff were very helpful and nothing was too much for them. The bed was very hard though and could do with some modern and softer mattress. Although very clean, the bathroom was dated and had a very uncomfortable loo. Finally, the most important aspect was the price which is well above what is on offer….

Overall very nice! Staff very professional Minor issues - each rooms main door slams shut and can be heard in nearby rooms every time someone goes out or in 24/7 and it’s loud enough to wake up other nearby rooms. - shower stalls could do with a black mold cleaning. - bed sheet on mattress but no bed sheets between blanket/comforter and mattress sheet. The property’s grounds, services and facilities are well worth visit

Beautiful exterior and interior to the old part of the hotel grounds ate beautiful. Service needs attention, reception not particularly welcoming. On departure one younger member of staff talking to the receptionist dealing with us us moved away then made childish farting noises, not impressed, it confirmed i wouldn't stay again. Deluxe room was small and bathroom had mould in the silicone grout. Very dated and tiny needs refurbishment. Breakfast buffet mediocre with cold plates and leather type cheap bacon. I ordered poached eggs 1st day it was very very underdone, inedible, next day ordered fried, the egg, so overdone it was burnt on top, sent it back and a snotty underdone one returned. Gave up next morning and had the bland scrambled eggs with burnt tomatoes. Only once in 4 days were we asked if we wanted tea or coffee. In room houskerping ok but water and coffee milks not topped up everyday. Cleanliness good, bed was wondrful great nights sleep.

Not great. Room dusty, water only replaced once in room. Breakfast huge queue, not enough staff. No glasses for juice had to use paper cups. Breakfast not Huge choice and ran out of stuff. Went to use pool one morning, closed for an aqua ckaaa but no information in rooms telling us this. Family room walls thin as could hear every conversation in tbe nezt room

Some dirty towels in bathroom and pool water not great quality. Was offered take away breakfast as leaving before breakfast started. It contained stale pastries and fizzy water and absolutely rotten apple. But otherwise hotel was nice. Rooms spacious

Location and hotel were beautiful but the room was a little tired. Holes in the curtain lining that allowed the sun to shine through in the morning, bottom of the bathroom door showed extensive wear and tear, fittings around the taps on the bath were loose and initially the fridge didn’t work. For the price would not have expected this. Location and first impressions were amazing

We loved the hotel grounds and the main building. However there was a few things that was below my expectations. First of all, there wasn’t anything in the rooms for personal use such as simple slippers, and personal care products which I normally would expect from a 4 star hotel. Standard rooms could have been better considering the hotel is 4* which wasn’t the case when i compare it to other hotels I stayed. Besides breakfast could have been a bit better as well. Hotel’s restaurant was good however breakfast quality was a bit below what i expected and again contained basic options which were cooked avarage level. I have had better quality expectations in those areas.

We were pretty disappointed with this property. It was very difficult to navigate around the property and was confusing. The room was small and the beds were uncomfortable. The room was also very hot even though it was in the 50s outside and there was no way to make it cooler. WiFi was very weak in our room. Breakfast was also disappointing as the food was lackluster and not very good. The grounds around the hotel however were beautiful and well maintained. Sadly we wouldn’t stay here again.

Was a little underwhelmed with this location. Room walls appeared wafer thin resulting in being able to hear our neighbours conversations and competition for air space watching TV. A faulty sink plug was eventually repaired after some chasing, the tired room and complex building navigation detracted it from the outer charms. A busy, fully booked Hotel made it feel that all staff were stretched and not able to provide the service we expected from this venue. The leisure facilities, appeared to suffer from the same pitfalls that behold a venue of this stature and for me added to our disappointment. Possible poor choice on our part in a very very busy Edinburgh........

Food at restaurant needs improvement. Some Remodeling too smells old and dusty. Walls are very thin as we could hear the tv playing with soccer games from the neighbors room and kids crying on the other side. Didn’t had good sleep as waking up with the neighbors screaming and arguing. Everything can be heard. No privacy wouldn’t recommended with family with kids.

This hotel was outstanding it exceeded my expectations. I cannot complement the staff enough they fixed my reservation when we showed up a day early and were truly exceptional. The manager was great, the desk staff, your restaurant staff and the bartenders even took the time to answer my questions about different whisky and I even learned how whisky that is made in Scotland is spelled differently then whiskey made in other places. I cannot say enough or complement the staff enough for making our first two days in Scotland so wonderful.

Our second stay here was amazing overall, but disappointed again in the service at the restaurant. The hotel and spa and service could not be faulted, but the service in the restaurant is so slow. We waited 17minutes before being asked for drinks, the gentleman next to us had been waiting 50minutes for his main and was having the same u pleasant experience. The first time we stayed I actually had to get up after about 20 minutes to ask the staff to serve us our drinks. Both occasions the restaurant was so quiet, not sure where the issue lies. Furthermore the gentleman next to us complained and it was brushed off.

Great hotel and facilities, upgraded the room to the turret which was very spacious, pool great for the kids as well and plenty to choose from in terms of food and very reasonably priced, only downside was the attitude and unhelpful check in staff member which to be fair was sorted out very swiftly by the duty manager who was most helpful.

Stunningly beautiful grounds. Wonderfully helpful staff at check-in point. Surprised to have a dirty cup on our breakfast table. Staff did not let guests finish their breakfast before they started helping themselves to the food. There's no problem at all that staff should of course also have their breakfast. However, it was very unprofessional and off putting to feel that we as guests were in their way. I believe that your service staff would benefit from training in customer service, especially in a resort of this status. No one was rude to us or anything like that. I am used to the highest level of professionalism in these types of hotels and having travelled 6 hours to get here, was rather underwhelmed by the breakfast experience in particular.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous. Our room was lovely and comfortable. We enjoyed a great meal in one of their restaurants and we had a pleasant time sipping an aperitif in the cocktail lounge. Highly recommend this beautiful hotel.

Incredibly disappointing service. Staff that do not care at all, they don’t communicate with each other. No basic manners - the receptionist Celia was rude, inattentive and dismissive. So disappointing as the hotel and the grounds and the restaurant was absolutely stunning, but never will be staying again as this was the worst service I have received in almost a decade. Sincerely teach your staff to be polite, act as if they want to be there and to not mutter to their colleagues about guests. A simple smile and pleasantry and a desire to actually help solve a guests problem would be appreciated.

There are not many things immediately around the hotel. The hotel has two golf courses and is several miles from city Centre. It is fairly close to the airport and Dundas Castle.

This may seem an expensive place to stay as it oozes quality and expenses, but think again. It is not cheap, but it is a hotel of the very finest quality backed by its facilities, its staff, and its fantastic grounds. Accessing Edinburgh is easy via the bus from the main road, or the park and ride site two miles away. After a busy day touring the city Dalmahoy is the perfect place to relax, unwind, recharge and repeat. If you play golf allow yourself time to play both the East and West Courses. The leisure facilities are second to none and there are several eating/drinking places on site. Looking forward to a return visit with/without a party of friends.

Being on the outskirts of Edinburgh was a wonderful contrast to being in the city. I was originally worried that being so far out of Edinburgh would be an issue but it was only a quick UBER or convenient bus ride in and out of town. The grounds around Dalmahoy are so lovely that eating breakfast at the restaurant was a joy as well.

Nice hotel set within lovely grounds. Rooms a bit dated and needing some TLC. Our room had a broken bathroom lock which, after reporting, was sorted very quickly. Breakfast was good with an excellent selection however we dined in the Brasserie on the second evening and were told only pizzas and salads were available due to an issue in the kitchen. We ordered pizzas all round but when they arrived looked very much like cheap frozen pizzas. None of us ate much and wouldn’t recommend. We mentioned how poor this was but were just told it would be reported to the manager which I thought was a poor response. Only afterwards we realised these were priced at £17 each which added insult to injury.

Hotel was okay, but could seriously do with some upgrades. The mattress was okay, but could have been comfier. Mini fridge in the room didn’t seem to be switched on or working. TV is a “smart tv” however doesn’t have the usual netflix/prime etc. only function is screen mirroring which we couldnt get to work, and it only said it would be compatible to share your own pictures/videos etc. Restaurant was pretty over priced for the quality. We ate in the brasserie, frozen cheap pizza and burgers. Didnt eat in the pentland as the menu was very limited for vegetarians and again overpriced. So for dinner the second night we opted to order an uber eats. Breakfast buffet was good, good selection and staff very helpful and offering to get anything else you may want. We had a drink in the cocktail bar which was okay, £9 for a cocktail and didn’t think it was great. No music or anything playing either so felt a bit boring. We did try and get a seat in the james braid bar but it was pretty small so couldn’t get a table. Also visited the pool and sauna/steam room which were nice. Would also be nice if there was a hot tub so that was a wee bit of a let down. However the rest of the facilities were nice, nice, spacious changing rooms with free lockers/towels. Overall, an OK stay but dont think I would rush back. Staff are lovely but mainly the restaurants/bars were a let down.

I was disappointed that in the cocktail lounge we had to go to the bar to order and pay. No service at the tables...this is a 4 star restaurant. We had lunch in the brasserie and it was okay. We went to the main restaurant for dinner but they did not have chicken on the menu...very strange, again for a 4 star, so we had dinner in the Brasserie, which was not what I wanted. I also asked if there was availability for a massage anytime that day. I was told it was an outside company and there were none availabe. I guess my hopes were higher for this more expensive hotel...

This hotel is out of the way from the city but a bus right outside the driveway takes you into the city only take 25 mins. You can use the country club facilities of swimming area and gym, the grounds are huge and you can walk round, they are very well kept. The breakfast was a buffet, it was hot and tasty serving traditional potato scones and haggis along side cooked breakfast items. Plus a range of fruit, cereals, yoghurt and pastries. You can order different types of eggs and omelette plus a few other items line veggie options and porridge. A good hearty breakfast that was well organised. The reception service we got was second to none, so helpful and even saved us some money. There is a concierge service too to keep your cases if you have a later flight or come in early. The rooms were spacious and clean, had a fridge, hairdryer, tea, coffee and a very large TV. I would stay here again for sure as it was so relaxing and very quiet, which was nice to get back to after a busy day in the city.

No air conditioning so far too hot, almost contemplated leaving early 😔 Staff in the brassiere were not very attentive and the food was expensive for what it was. Bfast was chaos, far too busy even at non busy times. A shame really 😔
