Easy check-in with very helpful staff both outside (to help unload the car and put on carts) and inside at the desk to check in and give tips on local events and attractions. Room was clean and perfect for our family. Pool was nice for the kids. Very convienient location close to the War Memorial and Parliament. Short walk to many other museums and attractions so after parking we were able to walk everywhere. Will definitely stay again when in Ottawa

Staff was very helpful, the hotel was amazing. They excellently cleaned the room daily, we stayed 5 days. Minor construction on the front canopy had no effect on noise or hotel access. Overall one of the best places I have stayed. The building itself was very cool. Location is great.

The Lord Elgin’s central location makes it exceptionally convenient for exploring downtown Ottawa on foot. Our room was a decent size, the elevators were fast and efficient, and the pool and hot tub area looked well-maintained, though we did not have the chance to use them. The front desk staff were also consistently polite and welcoming. However, the property is clearly showing its age and is due for a remodel. We were surprised to find that there was no in-room safe. Additionally, the plumbing was quite disruptive; the water pipes made loud noises whenever we used our bathroom or when guests in adjoining rooms were running water. Our biggest issue, however, was the Wi-Fi. The connection was not only painfully slow but frequently dropped altogether. Because this occurred consistently across multiple devices, it was unmistakably a problem with the hotel’s network infrastructure rather than our hardware. For a full-service downtown hotel, reliable internet access should be standard. With significant updates to the plumbing, guest room amenities, and internet infrastructure, this historic property could easily deliver a five-star experience. In its current condition, it falls short of expectations.
