The hotel was beautiful. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The only downside is that the elevators are tiny (very tiny) and often not working. The room was a little small, but that’s to be expected in Rome. Cold A/C and extremely clean. Good restaurants within walking distance. Main attractions were not too long of a walk. I would definitely stay here again.

Very nice place, good breakfast and facilities. The room was small but comfortable. Maybe the different thing is that you have to use two elevators to go from the lobby to the second floor and a different one to go from the second floor to the rest of the building and they are a bit small, which creates waiting lines in the morning after breakfast on the second floor.

Very helpful staff, good breakfast, clean rooms. Nice lounge and bar area. Very good location being close to the Metro for getting to the main sights. Only criticism is the lifts - one ground to first, second down a corridor first to upper levels. Lifts are tiny for the number of residents and it's a problem when staff are trying to use the same lifts - gave up waiting and walked down four levels.

The hotel staff was exceptional—professional, welcoming, and very accommodating. Shortly after we booked through Expedia, the hotel reached out to offer transportation services. For a fee, they arranged for a driver to pick us up from the airport and later return us for our departure. It was seamless and well-organized. Our flight arrived early in the morning, and although check-in wasn't until after 2 PM, the staff welcomed us warmly. We completed the paperwork, dropped off our luggage, and were able to freshen up using the lobby facilities. When we returned later, our bags were already in the room, and all we had to do was pick up the key. The hotel has a grand, old-world classic charm that makes a strong first impression. We booked a small, standard room—which is exactly what we got. It was clean but a bit worn; the carpet had some stains, the mattress was firm, and the pillows were quite flat. While the room could use some updating, the service and overall experience made up for it. The location is excellent, with several bars and restaurants just steps away, and only a two/three-minute walk to Piazza del Popolo with plenty of high-end shopping. It’s slightly farther from some other major attractions, but still very manageable. I’d definitely stay here again.

Wonderful, helpful staff. Extensive breakfast choices with ample seating. Good location. Two major problems: 1.) when I checked in I authorized a deposit be held against any possible damages but rather than wait to collect or refrain from collecting this deposit until the room was checked upon leaving, the deposit was charged immediately and it’s return only promised 10 days after check-out. That treatment would preclude me from booking again. 2.) I should have specified that I wanted a room with a shower (which my friend did get.) My bathroom had a hand-held shower attachment in the tub. It was difficult to position it in the bracket in any way that didn’t spray the room. The tub also was very slippery and 21” deep without any grab bars so it was hard to get in and out of safely. The staff provided a tub mat as soon as I requested it but a proper shower would have been better for me . 3.) the mattress was rock hard….this was not specific to my room alone…..my friend’s was just as uncomfortably hard. 4.) guests had to take 2 elevators to reach the ground floor. If you chose to walk down, you could only go as far as the first floor before taking the second elevator down to reception. The stairway door between the first floor and reception on the ground floor was locked . (I assume in would be unlocked in an emergency?)

The hotel was fine. The elevators are very small as was my shower. The lights are controlled by room key, so if you remove the key from the slat the lights shut-off - in short you either have the entire room and bathroom lit or are in the dark. Also, there’s no iron or coffee maker.

The overwhelming use of air fresheners gave us horrible headaches and allergy attacks. The air was so perfumed it was unbelievable. Carpets were stained and there was barely enough room to move. The staff were quite professional and helpful, and the location great, but the amenities made it a poor choice. The photos made the room look far better than it was. I never leave bad reviews, but this was over the top.

Hotel very dirty and unclean for guests to stay in. No mattress protector is used which should be standard in any hotel; bloodstains were on our mattress which I took a picture of as well as the very dirty and stained carpet. None of the rooms had any mattress protector under the sheets which meant all bodily fluids of previous guests could just soak into it. I wore shoes in the room as it was so dirty. Took a picture of the stained and unprotected mattress as well as very dirty stained carpet. Very small unclean rooms. Hotel staff showed us more dirty rooms with more stained mattresses and carpet as options to move to. We asked for a refund on our remaining days as we wanted to check out and move to a place that actually felt comfortable to stay in and not a place that felt disgusting to sit in. Although we were on our honeymoon, hotel tried to keep payment for all nights even though we did not complete stay and they were unable to provide a resolution to the cleanliness issue.

The total property was great. Breakfast was great with a lot of options. Not continental breakfast, much more. I only lowered a star due to a gaping hole in our bathroom door frame and a very dusty ceiling area above our bed. Other than that, it was great. The location is pretty amazing.

This hotel was in a good location for the sights. The staff was very helpful. The room was nice. But…the room is a small bedroom accessible by a tight spiral staircase to the seconds floor. The bathroom is on the first. Floor. Separate they are both nice. The staircase can be a problem if you have mobility issues. We did not so we took care in minimizing our ups and downs.

The Bad: Much closer to a 3 star hotel than a 4 star hotel. Italy now has a surcharge for all people staying at 4 or 5 star hotels, which I didn’t know until it was too late. 7.5 euros per person per night, as of March 30, 2025. Also, although I wasn’t on the 1st floor, you have to walk across the first floor every time you want to get between the lobby and floors above the 1st floor. This makes it VERY understandable why people who did stay on the 1st floor hated their stay. Rooms are adequate, but tiny. I was on the 4th floor, and our shower only had a glass panel for half the shower, so every time I took a shower the floor got pretty wet. Terrible design. Staff were decently helpful, but not overly friendly. Elevators were very small and rickety, especially the elevator that goes between the 1st floor and other floors. It can’t fit more than 3 people. The Good: Great cleaning every evening of the room. Great location. Provide accommodation to and from the hotel if you request it (although it’s a little pricey at 75 euros one way from the hotel to FCO airport, or the other way around). However, the transportation was a nice Mercedes. Everything else was pretty standard. Overall: Fine hotel, but probably not worth how much I spent on it, and hard to justify a 4 star rating.

The hotel was an older hotel, but charming. It was located 1 block away from shopping, eateries and a pharmacy. The check-in & check-out service was excellent. The front desk staff was very helpful with securing us taxi and transportation services. Our standard room was very small, located in a corner by an elevator. The room & bathroom was very clean but cramped for the 2 of us and the bed mattress was extremely hard and uncomfortable. That said, the morning breakfast buffet was exceptional. If we travel to Rome again we may stay there again but upgrade our accommodations.

So, we stayed here in 2019 and the experience was better then than this time around. There have been changes to certain things, such as breakfast which wasn't as good, although good nonetheless. The consumables were somewhat disappointing as shower gel and shampoo was of a much cheaper grade. You have to book early to get a decent size room and bathroom, otherwise be prepared to be disappointed. We had a lovely room in 2019 but this time around we asked to be moved, and although the bedroom was bigger the bathroom was rediculous small for adults. Would we stay again, yes, but this time we'll book earlier. The staff are lovely and very helpful.

The staff were truly top notch, super helpful, positive and kind. Gave great restaurant recommendations and were helpful with transportation. The room was well appointed and spacious except for the space around the bed. Breakfast was lovely and generous with again great staff. Location was stellar for easy walkability and public transportation. The only downfalls I’d say for the junior duplex, I wasn’t aware it was on the first floor (loud street noise at night/morning) or connected to a quite pretty courtyard on the interior side, but we felt like we could never use it as it was often saturated with smokers/smoke. The room was on the warm side too but the thermostat didn’t seem to work, and we couldn’t open the window often because of smokers right below our balcony. I would definitely come back here if I could get a room on a higher floor. Positives far outweighed the negatives

The property is in a great location. Close to all the sites and some lovely restaurants along with way. We spent 4 days at the hotel as we started our trip and came back at the end of the trip before flying home. The service at this hotel is 10/10. The staff is so pleasant and accommodating. They arranged airport transfers - dinner reservations they were so helpful with any and all enquiries. I will definitely come back again and recommend your hotel to our friends and family. My daughter had already booked !!

I wish we could have stayed at this property longer (only stayed 1 night) as it was a wonderful experience! While the room and facilities were very nice, it is the staff that really put this hotel above and beyond. Whether help with directions, best places to eat or even travel logistics to the airport or from the cruise port, they were very helpful and extremely accurate. I wish we could have stayed a little longer but after 10 days of cruising around the Med, it was time to go home. Book here - you will not be disappointed.

Tiziano was my favorite. He was kind, accommodating, and very helpful. He made our stay comfortable and made us feel very welcome. We even had a problem with a taxi company overcharging and he called and made the complaint for us! The hotel was beautiful and clean. I will stay here again wjen we come back. The bed was comfortable, the a/c worked well and everything was within walking distance. Tiziano even called a restaurant to get us in because we were hungry but it was part of their siesta time. The restaurant was awesome. The staff made us feel like family, especially Andre who looked like Berlin in the movie Money Heist, lol. You want to stay at this hotel. You will not be disappointed. The lobby area and the courtyard were my favorites. The pic below is of me in the courtyard and in the beautiful bathroom that was fully stocked with Roberto Cavalli products!

This is a nice property with very friendly staff. The rooms are a bit smaller than the average hotel room. The elevators are small. It can be challenging to fit yourself and your bags in at the same time. The area around the hotel has restaurants and shopping. It is very close to Piazza del Popolo. It is a short walk to sites like the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. Check in/out was quick and easy. The private transfer to and from the airport was very convenient and the car was nicer and cleaner than the city taxi’s.

Loved the location, and very friendly, helpful staff. Lots of amazing restaurants nearby in the piazza. We walked everywhere from this location. We took a cab to the colosseum and walked back which was an easy walk. Very good place and location. Bonus is that this place has an elevator which is nice for bringing your luggage up and down

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was something I looked forward to every morning and was definitely worth the money. It had lots to choose from, again the staff were very attentive and always ready to assist. I'd definitely stay again. Also, we really enjoyed the location, it was very walkable to all of the major sites and had a small grocery store next to it, the whole area felt very safe as well.

River Palace was a great place to stay for our 3 days in Rome. The location was perfect, near shops and restaurants and a cab-ride away from major attractions. Our room was beautiful (even navigating the spiral staircase was fine). The front desk staff (sorry I didn’t get any names)was so welcoming and helpful and made us feel special. Simon, the bartender, was great. Breakfast was fresh, constantly replenished and delicious. They made us delicious cappuccinos on request. Would definitely recommend this property.

The hotel is near the subway and walking distance to restaurants. The room had stains in the carpet which gave a very bad appearance but it was clean. The shower was inside a bathtub so didn’t have a door just half covered the bathtub so it was very messy with water going all over the floor. The breakfast was very good! Staff were very nice and helpful!

We just came back from a week in Rome and this hotel was amazing! We stayed in the room with the terrace and everything from check in to check out was perfect. I saw some reviews about the elevator being small, having to take 2 separate elevators, not clean etc but I found those reviews to be ridiculous. It’s an older European building so yes it will be a little different than what you find in the states. It was clean, housekeeping was great, comfortable bed and the concierge were all super welcoming and polite and accommodating. The bartender was phenomenal and I had one of the best bloody Mary’s ever! Breakfast was great! They had some “American” options. The hotel is about 30 min walk from the city center but the area around it is quiet, there’s restaurant options, a farmacia near by and a super market. Overall I’d stay here again!
