Bahia Resort Hotel

The room was clean, property well maintained. Staff is friendly and helpful. We liked that there were cabanas, chairs and umbrellas available for guests at the beach. Two restaurant options, a cafe and a bar at the beach and at the pool for drinks and food. As well as towels for the pool. We would stay here again.

This is a great choice if heading to San Diego and looking for convenience to Mission Beach. The resort is located a short walk to the main beach entrance, and has basically all of the amenities you could need if you choose to not step foot off the property. With a few different dining options, to include a convenient grab and go station just outside of the lobby, makes this also a great spot if looking to get up and get out early in the morning. Since it is a “redort” you get slapped with parking fees and resort fees, which drives up the cost. If you are not a family looking to do resort activities it may be best to look elsewhere because I really hate paying extra fees for activities my kids have no interest in participating in. But, if you want to get up and do yoga at sunrise or whatever, this may be your spot.We chose to stay here because of convenience and I usually start our road trip off in a nice place just to keep the kids from complaining. I deducted a star because for a resort that charges this much I would expect a hairdryer in the room and maybe some actual creamer instead of that powdered junk that comes in those obnoxiously crinkly packages waking everyone in the room just trying to get a subpar cup of coffee to start the morning. Overall, a solid choice, I probably would not stay here again if I was passing through with the family on an overnight, just because of the additional cost, but I would not “not”recommend it because it is a very lovely place.

Hotel is great. A lot to do and see. Beach access is great. Beautiful view. Family friendly. Our room was directly in front of playground, which my kids loved! And I loved too because I could watch them from my room. My only complaint is that room did not have a microwave. Which with kids, is not great. But we made it work. And overall, we still loved the resort and enjoyed our stay. Will definitely be returning.

We loved the resort. The biggest issue I had was parking. We stayed at the tower in the back of the property. There is not sufficient parking for the back. I would suggest opening up the spots where the make shift construction zone is being used. It was frustrating to see wood sitting in a perfectly good parking spot. The desk was super friendly.

Perfect little sanctuary. Lush gardens, private beach & bay w/ cabanas & even a seal rescue habitat. My family thoroughly enjoyed our little get away. Close to everything!! But, bring your own drinks because the vending machines weren't working.

Property was nice (2nd time there). Surrounded by the bay like a peninsula. 2 dining options. Playground for kids and 2 tennis courts (free rentals available for tennis or pickle ball). Let's not forget about the seals. Best part: walking distance to the pier and beach.

I love that they have a private beach for guest to use in day and night! We would for sure be back!

I booked the stay with Bahia mainly because of the convenience with beach and pool while traveling with young children. The hotel had amazing activities all day long for families. I highly recommend. On another note, it was extremely loud. Each room had its own air conditioner, and it was NOT quiet. We also heard every single person walking outside our room. It was hard to sleep with so much constant noise.

Bahia Resort is a beautiful property that has been maintained well! It has its dated areas but it didn't feel old as it was clean and kept looking nice! The pool and beach areas were beautiful!

This hotel is in a prime location for everything you want to do. Having a private beach for busy days was very nice, having shade option with cabanas. The pool was large, kids loved the swim up movie.

I'm sorry but the property was old for me. The brochure was prettier than the property. It was a nice touch having the sea lions on the premises. I will not be returning to this hotel. The room was spacious though, however it was dirty. When we arrived we found food under the couch, a balloon remnant under the ac unit, the cleaning lady did not sweep and left us with dirty sheets.

Room was old worn carpet with damp smell. Hair left in shower from prior guest(s). Cheap k-cup coffee off-brand with only 2 paper cups and 2 incomplete coffee kits. Sliding door locked with large air gaps between doors. Small fridge was noisy. Loud music either from park outside door or wedding at venue was unclear

Great location, beach access is really nice. Fun playground for kids and the pool was great. The rooms are on the smaller side and a little dated.

We were placed in a room that reeked of smoke (174). We asked to be moved and were relocated to a much better room (118) and it had a private beach directly outside of our room. We asked for more towels and unfortunately a huge huge huge cockroach came out of the towels which I had placed in the bed. It crawled behind the bed and the staff showed up after a few calls. They did not locate it so we had to. I’ve room for a third time in 2 days. Very unsettling and disturbing. Almost ruined our whole trip. Still very uneasy!!!!

What we loved- the private beach on the cove was amazing! Quiet, peaceful, everything we hoped for! The pool was lovely. What we did NOT love- the facilities are worn. The air conditioner in our room was so noisy that we couldn’t hear the tv at night and our ears were exhausted from the constant noise, and it had trouble keeping it consistently cool, so it was noisy and uncomfortable at night. The safe in the room did not work. The room was not cleaned by 5 pm. Not sure if that’s still a Covid excuse or not, but at 5 pm, housekeeping came by with fresh towels, which was nice. However, when I asked for a roll of toilet paper, the 2 rolls she handed me had cockroaches crawling on them! As she went to grab another roll instead, there were cockroaches on that one too- and I could see them crawling throughout the rolls on the cart! It was disgusting! Told the desk, they said ‘sorry’. That was it. Fortunately, we had enough toilet paper to last us until we checked out, and I kept the Do Not Disturb sign on the door until then. I didn’t want to come back to cockroaches. The beach chairs were very old and were not cleaned or brushed off or maintained in any way at night. And the beach food service that we were told about at Check in was basically nonexistent. Came by at about 2 pm on one day and offered us service, which took an hour to get, and the ice was melted in the drink by the time it arrived. So- a lovely time at the beach! Not impressed with the rest.

We had a refrigerator that didn't work, but they brought another one. The roo.s carpet needed shampooing as it smelled moldy.

Cool place. Room was okay. Kinda dirty, visual stains all over carpet and couches. Kinda funky smell. Cool area nonetheless

The carpet in the room was stained in multiple areas, the room smelled musty and there were people living in their cars over our back wall the entire time we were there and we did not get to enjoy sitting out on the patio. The customer service was great, everyone was very friendly and responsive.

Had been here before COVID and I have to say the place has not improved. The only thing that’s gone up is the prices. When I arrived the room looked clean at first but when I pulled back the blanket, it was obvious the sheets hadn’t been changed. Someone’s long hair and sand was still in the bed. Only a few large towels in the bathroom. I asked for hand towels and washcloths. I was told no washcloths on the facility but was given one hand towel. No soaps or shampoo, never happened in the 4 nights there. Spouse asked a few times but I had brought our own so we simply used what I brought. Never had any house keeping in the 4 nights there. Dockside restaurant was way overpriced and when my son accidentally spilled his milk, no one helped us clean it off the table. The waiter gave us a pile of paper napkins for me to clean up. Never offered a refill for spilled drink. I had to ask for water for my son. We had better services off the hotel grounds than on. Honestly, I would not recommend this place & don’t ever plan on going back to this place. Staff are very nice but the place is way overpriced and overdue for a remodel.

First time at the hotel and location is great, kid friendly, attentive staff, rooms spacious with mini kitchens including sink and microwaves. One thing that was disappointing was they had a prom on the top floor of the building we were staying in, i wish they told us in advance because we have a toddler and his bedtime is early. The noise was too loud

Paid for a 2-Queen Bay View Suite. Room had zero view of the Bay because the landscaping is so over grown. Property is very old - rooms are very old and outdated - air conditioning in main living room blasts from an old unit and bedroom has zero a/c. Asked for an hour later checkout to accommodate our late flight and they would not accommodate. Would not stay here again for the $.

Overall it’s a beautiful place but the building is old, the mattress is okay, the AC is old and makes so much noise it was hard to sleep. The pool is not that big and full of kids. I would not recommend for a couples get away. I think it was too much money for what I got.

We expected an arcade which is no longer a thing. The seal rescues were adorable but much smaller than anticipated. The vending for ice was not convenient. The water pressure was awful and the toilet was loud both with it running and the weird buzzing alarm sound that lingered for about 60 min after each flush. There was no vent in the bathroom, the fridge/freezer didn’t get cold enough to maintain our food until the 4th day. The tv needs to be updated

The hotel overall is nice, however the rooms are outdated. The door to balcony was hard to open. There were parts of the room where the carpet was damp, the fridge was leaking water. If you need ice you need to leave the building walk across to the lobby area and get ice next to the lobby. They do have a couple restaurants on site and they are next to the bay so you have a nice senic walk.

This place looks great and promises much, but it prices according to its location, not it's amenities. The grounds and beach were lovely and clean, the eateries seem well attended and our experience in the Italian was good but $125 for 2 Pizzas and a Pasta plus 3 drinks... Cmon! The room/suite we had was big and airy BUT it wasn't cleaned properly and the housekeeping was really lax to the extent that for 3 days we didn't get any! I actually had to hand party napkins and knives and forks into reception but just binned the burst balloons that were left about the room... To be fair when highlighting the issue they did address with a bit of a money back but the housekeeping didn't improve and the carpet just made our feet dirty. Worst thing was that there is NO AIRCON in the bedroom we had which meant it could be sweltering. Ridiculous omission for $300-$400 per night. They had two rescue seals on site which was nice of them to look after but I became sceptical that they were just a way to overlook the issues around the poor value. The place looks great when your booking but after a full tour of the US from NW to SW this summer, this was by far the most disappointing hotel resort, it just niggles me that it was so expensive for what it is. I think this scrapes 3 stars understanding that the US and California in particular is a bit too expensive now but I can honestly say that I would not recommend this place.

The area was beautiful, but our experience at the resort was disappointing. On the day we arrived, there was a wedding taking place on the property. Despite knowing about the event and the potential inconvenience, the staff placed us in a room right next to the wedding hall. This area was directly by the lobby, where guests were constantly coming and going. The noise from the wedding—including loud music and crowds—continued until around 12:30 to 1:00 a.m., making it nearly impossible for us to sleep. It was a very frustrating and unpleasant experience.

Lovely stay with family. Our 5 year old loved the beach and pool. It’s a bit dated so come embracing the 1950’s California beach vibe. One major thing we were disappointed with was paying $520+ for a 1 bedroom suite with a bay view and the bedroom did NOT have AC!!! It was super hot and uncomfortable. The Bay view was also more of a public parking lot view as well.

Unfortunately, our experience at the Bahia Resort was deeply disappointing from the start. Check-in was painfully slow, taking far longer than expected, which set the tone for the rest of our stay. While the beach area and playground were beautiful and well maintained definitely the highlight of the property things quickly went downhill once we got to our room. We had booked a suite with an ocean view, but the reality didn’t match the promise. The bedroom had no air conditioning, making it uncomfortable from the moment we walked in. Our so-called “beach view” balcony was completely obstructed by a large tree, leaving us staring into leaves rather than the ocean. To make matters worse, the furniture especially the sofas was outdated and worn, and the overall condition of the room didn’t reflect anything like what was shown on Expedia. It felt like a completely different place. We were so disappointed that we requested a refund and checked out immediately. While the location has potential, the quality and upkeep of the accommodations were far below expectations. We wouldn’t recommend staying here based on our experience. Gives motel vibes.

Bahia Resort Hotel – honest review after a 7-night stay The good • Beautiful setting. Lush grounds, right on Mission Bay, easy walk to the public beach and nearby restaurants. • Warm, helpful staff. Front‑desk and engineering teams were quick to fix issues and always friendly. • Clean linens. Beds and towels felt fresh and clean. The not‑so‑good • Slow check‑in. Our suite wasn’t ready at 4 p.m.; we waited about an hour. The team offered a food‑and‑beverage credit, which was appreciated—but it wasn’t applied until we flagged it at checkout. • Tired rooms. Furniture is dated, carpet stained, and the kitchenette came with zero dishes. Again, the staff was on it when we asked. • Fridge fail. The mini‑fridge froze our food and burst our drinks. Engineering swapped it out the same day, but we weren’t compensated for the spoiled items. • Water shut‑off. An emergency leak paused water service for an hour (mid‑shower for me). Things happen, yet a small “sorry” gesture—like a bottle of wine—would have gone a long way; my email to concierge about these things went unanswered until checkout, when part of the resort fee was finally waived. Bottom line Bahia’s location and people are fantastic, but the property is showing its age and operational hiccups add up. With a room facelift and tighter follow‑through on service promises, this could be a five‑star stay.

The staff including the front desk, housekeeping, restaurant hostess and waitresses/waiters went beyond their jobs to make our stay a joy for all.They even provided birthday surprises for our 11 year old grandson.

The hotel was very accommodating when it came to switching rooms within the first 5 minutes of walking into our first room. With that said.. some rooms need TLC, the moment I walked in to our "bay view" room I knew it would damper our vacation. The "view" was of a fence and a parking lot and the room was old and warn looking. My husband immediately called the front desk in hopes we could move rooms, the front desk was great and placed us in a "marina view" room with a very small upcharge (worth it!) When we walked into our new room, I sighed with relief that we were getting our moneys worth. The room was fresh, clean, and had a great view (no cars or trucks in sight). With all that to say, the Bahia holds a special place in my heart because I was married here! However, they need a major face lift and instead of focusing on adding new little bars and coffee trailers they should invest in a renovation.

Room wasn’t ready on time, it took 1 1/2 hours past check in. Michelle at the front desk took very good care of us. She comped our food at the resort and took off the daily resort charge. I can’t thank her enough for making our stay great.

Does not live up to their website! Nice beach but v noisy (next to a public car park & beach with car alarms going off & delivery vans reversing) & they target weddings (they’ll literally move you off the beach for a wedding) & rude / insulting reception staff. It’s unkept with stained cushions. San Diego is lovely but we recommend Dana Resort! We filled in a hotel survey almost 2 months ago & no one has bothered to respond. If you stay here, bring ear plugs & bug spray. We chose this hotel for a 3 day anniversary break. Don’t be fooled by the website, it’s nothing like that.

I feel like they gave us the worst room in the resort. It was very crowed. We asked to speak to a manager so that we might possibly switch rooms. No one ever called us. Housekeeping completely skipped us the first day and the second day, it was 4 pm before they came, and only after we called. The tvs aren’t smart, so you can’t watch a movie. It was a very different experience than we had last time.

Everyone was very nice from the front desk to all of the restaurants. We had an amazing time. We will be back and I will let everyone know what a great place it is to stay!

The location of this hotel is wonderful! Located with easy access to the Bay Area and the oceanfront boardwalk. Beautiful area and location. Highly recommend. Also offers free parking for guests.

Nice place to stay, very family oriented when it comes to activities, overall a good location, only a 15 minute walk to mission beach and all that comes along with it!

We stayed at the Bahia Resort in San Diego for four nights and had a great experience overall. The location is excellent—just a 5-minute drive to SeaWorld and about 15 minutes to both the San Diego Zoo and the airport. The room was clean, and the amenities were well-maintained. A solid choice for a comfortable and convenient stay.

I liked the landscaping, the bay beach and the easy access to the ocean.

We e had an issue with the room the first night.They resolved the issue and went above and beyond our expectations with an upgraded room. The views of the bay were gorgeous and an easy walk to the ocean, the boardwalk, Belmont Park, and local shops.

I like the fact that your backyard is Mission Bay so you can walk over to the water. Also, the firework display from SeaWorld was great from your porch or from the bay

We spent 4 days without needing a car, walking distance to great food and entertainment including SeaWorld. Staff was so helpful and kind.

Me and my wife enjoyed our visit. Love the scenery easy access to the ocean and nice rooms and comfortable. The only problem or not a major one just we order breakfast at the restaurant that was there and took a little forever I think we waited close to 40 to 45 minutes for a simple breakfast that was the only down fall

The large hot-tube was cool. The seating areas around the bay area was nice. The Dockside restaurant had great food. On the down side, the restaurant was pricy. The parking situation was a bit confusing. There was barely enough room to support bi-directional traffic. Also, the gates leading off the property were opened at random times so it was necessary to perform a three point turn almost every time we needed to leave.

Overall we had a great time and enjoyed our stay. Good size room, very clean, and nice amenities provided for your comfort. Resort restaurant had amazing food and great service. It was definitely on the pricey side, but it was worth it. The 2 areas I felt needed improvements are their internet quality, and the time it took to have things brought to our room. Had to call multiple times to get more towels and coffee. Areas of the resort are also in need of some updates, but it looks like they might be in the process of doing that.

Hotel and property is nice. The sounds from highway were extremely loud at night. The restaurant was extremely over priced for ok food. Steak was overpriced and over cooked. Not a great bourbon selection.

We booked a non-smoking bay view suite and were given a partial view room above smokers whose smoke easily traveled from their patio to our balcony and living room area. The trash bin in the living room still has the previous occupants waste. We immediately reported the issue but we’re not offered a better room. The restaurant was under staffed so the service took longer than usual to be seated and get breakfast. The staff at the front lobby are professional and helpful and the game room and scavenger hunt were fun for the kids. We tried calling room service twice from the hotel room phone but they never answered. One of the calls was rerouted to the lobby who just rerouted us back to room service who still didn’t answer.

It was a great experience. The rooms are nice and clean. Delicious Italian restaurant, highly recommended.

Perhaps their could have been more options for eating.

Everything was very nice. I did not give it excellent because I think the carpet looked really dirty and worn. Also, there needs to be a cafe for coffee, simple deli sandwiches, etc. until 7 or 8 pm. The other van one was only open until 2. The pool bar really needs to be better stocked. I asked for a spicy bloody Mary, and only vodka and tomato juice was available. Lastly, from the pictures of my room studio with kitchenette looked like there was a mini stove included. We only had the microwave. Otherwise, it is beautiful and peaceful and there were seats available on the private beach.

The good: The staff is super friendly. Customer service fantastic. Room is good size. Pool was great. The Bad: Drinks were very weak and excessively expensive. It is extremely loud outside the room with cars and motorcar d people roaring all night long. Shower was very difficult to get goi mg because you have to pull with all your strength to get the knob up to make it go in the shower pressure was very week.
