The room was updated nicely, with a patio and ocean view. It is an older walkup building, but well maintained. Parking is tight and limited. The on site restaurant is extremely busy so you'd need reservations well in advance. There is no onsite pool or hot tub amenities which could add to the property, especially on a stormy night! As an older building, it was noisy. There was an event going late that was quite loud in the room, plus you could hear your neighbours and those outside the room clearly. Overall is was nice and worked for what we needed. But with the expensive nightly rate I'd expect more not just priced because of location.

Nice spot to chill. Not too quiet and not too noisey. Activity going on around which was nice to watch from the room and deck. The gym was well equipped. Shelter restaurant was bonys to have close by.

The hotel was very well organized and the rooms very clean. The bathroom, specifically the shower, was a bit less fancy than I would expect for the price (shower curtain not door), but that is a minor comment. The biggest downside is very minor, but the resort is a decent walk to town. Not an issue though if you are okay to walk, or if you want easier access to the beaches.

I found the room dirty. The carpet was stained, red around the drains and the shoulder head appeared mouldy. We stayed on a Sunday night and the restaurant on site had a ragging party until 11pm...while not crazy late we were still on East Coast time. Would not stay there again.

We stayed at 6 hotels on Vancouver Island. This hotel was the most expensive and one of our least favorites. There is a water view, but the windows were very dirty. The room was very hot, yet the outside temp was in the high 50's and cloudy. There is no AC and only a small window to open. No screen on the window, so bugs were flying in. Plus the window didn't slide well and would jam so it was a pain to open. Not sure why they wouldn't have fixed this. Some stains on the carpet.

The property is basically a motel and they rebranded as a resort... although.the maketing claims this is a resort, that claim is very much fiction. Imagine a room similar to a motel6 - small, no a/c, next to the main road, and outdated super basic furniture and fixtures. The bed is old and sags, the shower feels like a high school locker room set up I was unable to sleep because of the road noise and thin walls between rooms. I left in the middle of the night to find better accomodations.

A beautiful part of the world and the perfect place to see it and experience it from. The room was comfortable and clean with plenty of space. The resort restaurant, Shelter, was phenomenal and highly recommended. Will definitely stay here again.

The first room we stayed in was great and had a balcony. We didn’t have a harbour view, but it was a last minute booking. The second room was in a separate block and wasn’t so nice for the money. The bathroom was older and a bit tired for the price of the room. The bedroom was over looked by the external stair well. The Shelter restaurant had a very picturesque view of the harbour and we enjoyed having a drink there and watching the sunset. I would recommend this hotel. Just book in advance if you want a specific room.

The bed was superb - I wanted to take it home with us. The restaurant next door was outstanding. I had my favorite meal three times and their staff were excellent. Reservations are recommended.
