Amazing location near the beach , beautiful views, wonderfully decorated rustic lounge, great continental breakfast (beyond average) , friendly staff

Loved the balcony, view and chairs. Breakfast was fabulous. Chocolate chip cookies in the evening was a genuine treat. The room was quaint and clean. Didn’t even miss the TV or phone. Did miss a fridge in the room but ice was available at the front desk. No elevator gave us a bit of concern moving our luggage up and down the stairs. We would ask for a ground level room if we return. Staff were very helpful.

The lodge is in a beautiful setting on a small headland adjacent Middle Beach. There are trails through the woods & beach access. Our room had a balcony to sit & look at the ocean & we could listen to the waves on the beach at night. The in-lodge dining option was excellent!

We came during a major storm and the room we booked was in a section that didn't have power so we had to pay for an upgrade to a cabin as those had generator power. I understand that there were limited options given the storm and grateful that they could fit us in somewhere else but I was surprised that they hotel didn't call ahead of time to advise of our options (stay in a room without power or pay for an upgrade). Having said that, the cabin was very nice and it had a kitchen with peekaboo views of the ocean. It was very clean. The property is near trails to the beach. During low tide you could walk along middle beach to the tonquin trail into Tofino. If you come at night, it's very dark, and can be a bit tricky to find the correct building to checkin. Minimal signage and it's hard to see in the dark. The staff were nice.

Middle Beach lodge is a nice property. The marketing is better than the actual experience and whilst it is perfectly fine, some of the rooms and fixtures it could do with an update. The breakfast is OK, but I can't understand why there is no Espresso coffee anywhere on the resort? The Mackenzie beach resort cafe, next door, is literally eating your lunch at the moment.

This is a fabulous eco-friendly resort right on Middle Beach. Gorgeous views, beautiful resort, great breakfast and overall a wonderful place to stay. A short trail leads to a beautiful beach. Fabulous!

We stayed in a basic room in the lodge, bed very comfortable & we had a nice forest view deck. The location & lodges were fantastic. We spent time just relaxing in the Beach lodge, soaking in the ambiance. The beautiful stone fireplace had a crackling fire going most of the time & the surrounding decor was primarily made up of reclaimed wood & old artifacts creating a warm, relaxing vibe. Continental breakfast was included & coffee and tea available anytime. Such a relaxing spot to enjoy the gorgeous view of Middle Beach. Easily walkable paths led to the beach and the Headlands Lodge where we enjoyed a drink from the bar with great happy hour nibbles, and a view of Mackenzie beach. We easily cycled right from our doorstep & the location is a short drive into Tofino. We will absolutely return!

Amazing property! Happy hour and dinner service were excellent! A beautiful walk to Tofino across beaches and landscape! Breakfast was perfect and such a delight to sit and eat with people from around the world! All the staff were exceptional!

We lost power for a good 18 hrs. No generator at the beach lodge

Clean room

This property was really beautiful except the sink in our room wouldn\'t drain, it was "fixed" with tape. We were told a maintenance person would come the next day and never did.

I really enjoyed the surrounding areas of the hotel—it connects directly to beautiful beach trails, which was a highlight. We had an ocean view room, and the view was absolutely lovely. The breakfast was amazing! It was simple, but the pastries were especially delicious. The room was old and rustic. The shower booth could have been cleaner. Unfortunately, I noticed some red mold on the floor and wall, which was disappointing. Other than that, it was a very good stay overall!

The room was dirty when we arrived, with hair and pubes in the shower. The staff provided us with a different room only to find they didn’t flush the toilet paper they quickly cleaned the bathroom with so we could see hair and specks in the toilet with the toilet paper floating. They set up a fire in the 19+ lobby and the whole building smelt like smoke for a few hours which compromised my partner with asthma. The building looked like a motel inside, with old furniture and carpet and the room was super tiny. The sink was in the bedroom not in the bathroom. The pictures online did not match up at all. The balcony was very small, and the whole time I was just sad it was not even close to worth the money I spent for this stay.

Overall a beautiful property right by the ocean. The building is a bit old and we had some spider webs throughout the room.

I visited MBL over 20 years ago. Finally made it back and fell in love all over again! The lodge, the service, the location was just as I remembered! Stayed in one of the loft cabins and it was perfect amount of space and was very clean. Tofino is one of my favorite places on the west coast!

The property itself is gorgeous — right on the ocean with walking trails and incredible views. The staff were warm and friendly, and the setting really can’t be beat. The rooms feel quite dated, likely around 40 years old with little sign of renovation. Things like slatted shutters between the bedroom and bathroom (not ideal for privacy). The patio was lovely but would really benefit from a propane fire pit so guests can enjoy it during cooler evenings. Cleanliness could have been a bit better as we found a little bit of dust and cobwebs, but nothing major and everything else was clean. The bed was quite firm for my preference (my wife found it fine), and I woke up with a stiff back each morning. I asked about a mattress topper but never heard back. While it covered the bases and was well stocked, the breakfast was pretty basic and uninspiring. Service was hit and miss, likely due to being short-staffed. Service was lacking due to short staffing. To top it all off, check-in was not great as the staff weren’t sure if they could accept our gift certificate because we booked through Expedia even though I’d noted it in our booking. They did end up honoring it, but it adds unnecessary stress. Overall, Middle Beach Lodge has a wonderful setting and kind people, but for the price, the rooms need renovations and more effort is needed to make sure they are not short staffed.

The property is very West Coast in style and design. Our unit was basic but comfortable and the price was reasonable. Would have liked to have had a fridge in the room

Treehouse was lovely, overlooking the water amongst the trees felt especially magical at sunset on a beautiful day.

Malfunctioning wifi, very small rooms, bad insulation. The location and surroundings are very beautiful. The room itself was very disappointing.

Like: Resort ground is lush and beautiful with access to 2 beaches. Free continental breakfast has good selections and fresh baked pastries. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room is clean and quiet. Dislike: The cheapest room is very small and barebone with almost no amenities such as TV, phone, closet, chair and kettle/coffee maker. That's the reason for giving it only 3 stars.

One of our favorite spots in Tofino. I always make a point of spending one full day in the great room just reading and soaking up the atmosphere. The rooms aren't very spacious, but you will never be there other than to sleep. Lots of walking in the area, huge beach to access, and plenty to do in Tofino. Breakfast is great 7 dining in the nearby lodge is always a treat, even if a little pricey.

Small room but incredible view!

You have to be very careful when you booking stander room or other type of rooms. Stander room is way too small and have nothing in there. No chairs no table no TV no any small appliances. Just a queen size bed that you can sleep on.

location is wonderful and units overlook beach. staff seemed new to their roles and were not fully trained. but it was early in the season.

We loved everything about our stay at Middle Beach Lodge. Everybody are really nice and Jess from front desk staff was very kind and helpful. Room was amazing with great views. This will be our go to place whenever we visit Tofino.

I love staying at Middle Beach Lodge! The location is wonderful right between MacKenzie and Middle beaches - the road leading to the lodge used to be terrible, but it's since been completely paved. Rooms are cozy, clean, comfy, and give a real "lodge" feel. Staff is helpful, service is good, breakfast is tasty, the grounds are beautiful and peaceful... I always have a wonderful time when I stay here and highly recommend it if you're looking for a rustic (but very comfortable) and relaxing experience.

The views in this area are amazing! Access to 2 beaches minutes away.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The beauty and serenity made for a relaxing stay. We enjoyed all the hikes around the property, access to the beaches, overlooks, tidal pools, breakfast, cookies, and the lodge itself. Big shoutout to Kayla for all her tips, service, and with whom we looked forward to sharing our daily adventures. She was a delight! This place has it all, and is quintessential Vancouver Island!

This is a spectacularly situated lodge. We needed to cut it short because of the road closure, but I wish we could have stayed there for much longer. Staff was super helpful, the room and the ocean view was amazing, the grounds were stunning and I especially liked the triple trail system that was part of the property and the beach access. Overall highly recommended in every aspect.

Sehr schöne Lodge etwas ausserhalb und sehr ruhig. direkt am Strand mit gemütlichem Aufenthaltsraum mit Ausblick aufs Meer. Wir haten ein kleines aber schönes Zimmer mit bequemen Bett. Nur wenige Autominuten von Tofino entfernt. Top Lage, sehr freundliches Personal und wunderschön im Wald.

Cozy but modern cottages with direct access to the beach from the property. Staff were friendly, breakfast was good, but the location is the big draw.

Situated between two beaches with views of both, as well as the sunset, this property is in a great location. You are likely in Tofino for the nature, so you might as well stay in the midst of it.

Beautiful property, lots of walking trails and paths right down to both beaches. The breakfasts were delicious, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed in the "beachhouse" and the room was wonderful. Had a great view of the beach, it was quiet and peaceful. We would definitely stay here again!

Overall as advertised. If you like it quiet, the beach lodge is smaller and has a private beach. If you're more social the Headwater Lodge has the bar and access to the larger public beach. Both are meticulously decorated and have excellent continental breakfast, and of the dozen or so staff I met at both lodges I didn't run across one who didn't take their job seriously. **Note: We visited in February without a vehicle (admittedly the exception rather than the rule) and we did find it somewhat difficult with the resort being 15 or so minutes from town and not offering dining on site other than pizza. We made it work and it's my understanding that in peak season this wouldn't have been a problem and we would have had meal options available. Not a deal breaker by any means. Excellent property.

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay at this property. Our ocean view room was clean, comfortable and although small with no tv, just fine for a quiet getaway. The continental breakfast each morning in the adjoining lodge was fresh with a variety of pastries, bread and bagels, fruit, endless coffee and tea, boiled eggs, cheese and cold cuts. Fresh baked cookies appeared each night around 8pm too which was a nice treat. We also took advantage of the one sitting, evening meal available on site which took place in the other lodge. It consisted of fresh caught that day fish and an abundance of fabulous cooked vegetable's and salad and choice of deserts. Well worth it. We also walked the trail through the forest from Middle Beach to Tofino. Easy walk and takes about half an hour each way.

What a beautiful location, we stayed in a cabin overlooking the ocean and it was amazing. Loved the cabin and spending time on the balcony. Good location for exploring Tofino, easy drive into town. The hotel itself and communal spaces were the let down. Again, the main space was done up really nicely with a beautiful view of the sea, but it just lacked any atmosphere. There was no music or life to the space and the bar closed at 9pm. It felt quite stale to us, but possibly well suited to an older couple (most other guests were!). The "deluxe" breakfast was very basic and would say deluxe was a stretch! Just basic bagels and croissants. Would still recommend the hotel, but with some tweaks it could be so much better!

We immensely enjoyed spending 2 days of our 30th anniversary trip there in Tofino. Our basic cabin with sea view, had a tiny inlet off the ocean which came to within 30 feet of our cabin deck at high tide. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on our deck with our wine and charcuterie dinner we had assembled, looking over the ocean. I turned to my wife and said we haven\'t seen a bald eagle in two days. Five minutes later, on cue, a bald eagle lands on a dead tree branch over our inlet 40 feet away, with some crustacean he was snacking on and stayed there for five minutes, giving plenty of time for some snapshots and video. Then for the rest of the evening I said "I haven\'t seen and orca on this trip" but unfortunately my luck had expired and we never did see an orca. We did go whale watching out of Tofino and saw some grey whales, sea otters and sea lions. The continental breakfast there is the most luxurious ever with fresh baked croissants, cinnamon rolls and muffins being brought out regularly, and they even keep some out all afternoon if you want to stop by for free baked delights and coffee. We ate dinner there at the lodge one night and had Ling cod which was fresh and delicious. We kind of splurged to stay here, but it was well worth it, and if we com back to Tofino again we will stay here again. The staff was very friendly and willing to talk to you. This place was probably the highlight of our trip to Vancouver Island.
