Hotel Playa Bonita Resort

They need a disclosure that you need to bring your own Beach Towels to be on the beach as they do not allow they’re pool towels to be removed from the premises

The first 2 days of our stay the elevator was not working we had to carry our luggage up the stairs to the 4th floor. We were warned about the elevator but I think the property should always have a working elevator

We enjoy staying at this property; however, this time there were more limitations than when we stayed before. We couldn't have an ice chest by the pool, yet others had some and were not told a thing. Kids were all over the place this visit and jumping around the pool with no parents near. We helped one kid get out of the pool while he was not able to swim and another was jumping all over the place while his parents were in the jacuzzi. This time it really seemed more like a free for all to allow anyone to do whatever with many rules. Not as enjoyable as other visits. Elevator was down at the hotel when we visited. Pool was dirty.

Elevator did not function properly, and water heater couldn't keep up with demand.

There are two small pools. The kids pool was under construction. It’s the only pool with pool heater but unfortunately was not working. The other pool has not pool heater. Therefore the water was cold. I had two kids that they were disappointed when they found out the kids pool was not opened. The mattress on one of the bed was very uncomfortable.

The hotel was very clean and well maintained. We enjoyed the heated pool and Jacuzzi. Perfect location right on the beach. Comfortable and friendly staff. The price was quite reasonable. We enjoyed coffee and sunsets from the balcony. We typically stay in the RV park, so we always enjoy the coconut shrimp at Puesta del Sol in the hotel. The only thing I would change, is having softer pillows. The elevator is a bit sketchy and needs work. We had my father with us and he could not use the stairs. The staff was very helpful, assisting my father out the doors and into the car. It was a fantastic, Relaxing trip and we look forward to staying here again. Definitely recommended.

What an amazing place. The staff were absolutely top notch. The room and facilities all modern and updated. Did have a microwave and small fridge, ac worked great. Very family friendly, also we felt very protected throughout our stay really no outside elements allowed on property. Did not want to drive anywhere so the front desk was very accommodating in setting us up transportation. The restaurant was good, but really the only meals from it that were available were breakfast (buffet) and dinner fancy ish “this was great for a romantic on the patio over the ocean view”. Would like too have a place to get a smaller meal, without leaving the property there are vending machines and a small souvenir shop but that’s not much. I would recommend bring your food and drinks, didn’t see a bbq grill though. Beach was very private, however there were some vendors walking up and down, gets windy so bring tie downs for your umbrella or shovel to dig it into the sand.

Stay was nice bc the hotel was empty. My mom was staying nearby and they refused to let her on the property or allow us to purchase a day pass for her to watch the kids swim. I did not appreciate that. The location near the beach was very nice and their heated pool was great since it was Dec. They are super strict about using their towels by the pool or near the beach, so bring your own! There was a fridge and microwave in the room. The hallways echoed like crazy, so it was a little difficult to sleep. In busy months, I’m sure it would be way too loud. The front desk helped us reserve horseback riding which was also nice. Overall, a pleasant stay

It was nice and relaxing. Right on the beach. They have drink specials at the bar for happy hour. Big bonus is they have a Tesla destination charger on site.

The hotel was doing some renovations to the jacuzzi during our stay and unable to use. The property was beautiful, quiet, and served our needs for a place to stay with beach access. I would definitely stay again. Staff was very friendly.

This was our first time in Peñasco and we were thoroughly impressed with the Playa Bonita Resort. All of the staff was friendly and helpful! The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We had great views of the pool and ocean!

Clean room, comfortable bed, helpful security staff, maids were courteous and brought an extra blanket and towels upon request. Breakfast buffet was very good. Lots of delicious variety. Loved the access to beach. Will stay here again.

It was a decent stay, not anything amazing or great, just ok. The first room they gave us had a missing security chain lock on the door (there were holes on the door frame & door where the security chain used to be, but no security chain) and the lock to the sliding glass door was broken. I question their quality control for even renting out a room with missing & broken locks. The second room they gave us had a strong smell of urine on the bathroom floor. Smelled like an uncleaned mens washroom where we men don't know how to aim and just pee on the floor. (After housekeeping cleaned the room again, smell was gone) Again making us question their Quality Control. The pool water was clear, but debris (paper, straws) & sand floating around & on the bottom of the pools, which is understandable late in the day after plenty of guest have been in & out of the pool, but this was first thing in the morning before any guests were in the pool. I would think that they would have an early morning crew cleaning & preparing the facilities for the day. The Hot Tubs had cloudy water, again even first thing in the morning so we never used them. We had four guest in our room, yet for some reason the front desk was very hesitant in providing us 4 keys. Pay attention to the #'s as they do charge extra for all guest above 2. We chose this hotel over others because they do have a mini fridge & a microwave in all rooms. Security is strict & presence (1 in front & 2 in pool area).

Polite staff and clean comfortable room.

We were so impressed with Playa Bonita Resort. The property is beautiful and well maintained, and the pool area is top notch. There is easy access to the private beach, and the beach was not crowded at all. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. It was nice that it’s a smaller resort, so it never felt crowded. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Had a sewer smell , sheets had stains, hair on the towels and floor the location was nice close to the beach.

The beds were uncomfortable / hard , could not get a good night's rest. The elevator broke multiple times a day leaving us to get a ground floor room for my elderly parents. The wheelchair access ramp for the beach had an 18 inch drop-off to the sand making it unusable for my parents. When we asked for a refund to be able to go to a different hotel they told us no refunds.

This was our second time staying at Playa Bonita. Fast and easy check in. It was nice to have our room and balcony cleaned every day. The pool with beach views and access is our favorite. The mattress was hard for our liking.

Great location on the beach. Hot water was inconsistent. Had some trouble with key cards but eventually got 2 cards that worked. Staff was polite and friendly.

Beautiful updated room with coffee pot, microwave, and mini fridge. I paid for a room with a partial ocean view, but I couldn’t see hardly any ocean and when I approached the desk, they gladly changed me to another room with a beautiful ocean view. Love this place.

Relatively quiet except for band playing at the bar. Stopped by 10 pm thankfully. The beds were rock hard…clean but too hard for any good sleep.

View was nice, as well as the rooms, we only 2 issues, first issues was the elevator seemed to only work going up, you had to take the stairs going down, the second big issue we had was we were right next to the pool on the 4th floor, we heard the music all day from when the pool open till it closed, and the rooms seem to have very poor sound proofing, we could hear the rooms next to us, their conversations ect, the biggest issue was on Saturday, they had a private wedding and like motioned before the very poor sound proofing meant we had a concert in our room, other than that the staff was really welcoming and helpful.

Overall this is a great touch-down spot, close to everything. Nice amenities include refrigerator, microwave, huge shower and great water pressure. However, the beds were extremely firm, the TV only showed one channel, and the toilet was wobbly.

Stayed in a updated room which was excellent. They placed us in an excellent room with a great view of the sea. Great staff was a bonus!

The male receptionist at the check in desk was very discourteous and actually lied to us. I called and talked to both an Expedia rep as well as the front desk at Playa Bonita a week before arrival to request a room on the 3rd or 4th floor since I felt safer in an upper floor (both my girl friend and I are women.). The clerk said that no upper floor units were available which was a lie since that night I went out to looked and a lot of the upper story units were dark and unoccupied and the parking lot was almost empty. He told me that they will give me an 'upgrade' with a micro-fridge in it. That was also false because all the units are equipped with micro-fridge. This experience colored my whole stay at the resort.

All staff was not only Courteous, they were kind, respectful, friendly, always had a nice smile. They made you feel welcome, comfortable and very relaxed. Room was nice and clean, hotel very well maintained. But what made our time great was every single person that’s woks there and always have a smile. Amazing place to stay highly recommend to everyone.

The staff was friendly also very helpful with all of are questions. My husband did an upgrade to our room the staff went out of their way to help me move our bags. The views were amazing. We will be back for sure and have told all of our family and friends.

This property is everything I wanted for this trip. It was easy to locate, friendly and very helpful staff (service must be one of their core values), very clean and well maintained property, beautiful views and great beach access. I truly loved my time here and being a solo traveler--they made me feel safe, welcome, and appreciated. (I LOVED the little chocolates and buenos noches card the staff delivered in the evenings).

I come to Purto Penasco often, this was my first time staying at Playa Bonita. I’m very familiar with the are. Definitely safe. The beach is beautiful on that side, not as rocky, clean beach, the only positive. The front desk employee was very condescending, passive aggressive, rude. There are no phones in the room as well (doesn’t bother me, but for those whom it would bother) Unexpected extra charge as well. I will never, ever stay there again.

The staff did not want to answer single question when i mentioned that i will book through Expedia

Second time we stay here. Beautiful property room was very clean. Excellent service from all employees. Super easy access to beach. Restaurant next to hotel is great. Bar at pool area also great!

Good location right on the Sea of Cortez. Employees were very friendly and helpful. Facilities are a little worn but then they are exposed to ocean water every day.

My favorite hotel on Sandy Beach because I don’t like huge resorts. Super safe.

Weekend getaway that was amazing! Great view from the room and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and we felt very safe and confortable. The town was also calm and no issues getting around. Will definitely be going back.

The property is away from services so either you are forced to eat at the 1 restaurant onsite or drive somewhere. The property is outdated however it was easy to learn and get around. The staff is super nice and accommodating and I always felt safe there as well as my vehicle. I didn’t have any concerns there however there are some weird rules, you can get towels but you can’t take it to the private beach?? It’s also frustrating that the hotel will take credit cards however nowhere else on the resort does and the atm onsite is out of order for the last 3 months. My biggest complaint is the nightly price, if you are paying $300 a night you would expect wash clothes and a little more generous with some of the amenities in the room. You get 1 cup of coffee for example and we had 3 people.

Great restaurant on the beach. Incredible view. I had the Chili Relleno, which was excellent. TV selections in my room were very good also.

Overall great service the place nice and clean. The restaurant puesta del sol with old tostadas, ruined it.

The weather was good. The AC was good. The ceiling fan was great and quiet. They have big TV with free HBO. The staff is very friendly. The free coffee in the lobby was good but not the coffee in the room. The resort is not fancy but does the job. The omelet in the Breakfast buffet was good. The fruits are good especially the papaya. The rest of the buffet is average or below average.

Everyone is so so nice excellent service in front desk all employees have smiles on their face.Only what is wrong pool bar is cash only 😔😔😔

We had an excellent stay at Playa Bonita resort. The staff was outstanding and the restaurant food was excellent. Beach access was convenient. The pools were small, and they could use more seating in the pool area. This is an excellent location for families with children.

Great massages at the spa, food and views were great, beach was right there.
