The decor was definitely a vibe. Artsy and modern, cute. Free cocktails at check in, and the complimentary breakfast was actually pretty solid. Parking was kind of a pain; the street it's on is a one-way street for a lot of the day, so it was tricky to get to the nearby parking garage. They have a partnership with a nearby fitness club that has a rooftop pool and jacuzzi, so we spent a few nights relaxing over there, which was really nice. The area it's in is a little sketchy, but a lot of big cities' downtown areas are sketchy, so that's not their fault. Easy walking distance to tons of bars, restaurants, stores. We would stay here again.

The hotel is small but exquisite, with good service. The breakfast is a basic small buffet with few varieties. Parking is inconvenient and very expensive. The hotel valet parking will park the car far away, which is also inconvenient. If you drive, it is recommended to choose a hotel in another area.

The staff was awesome, the food and snacks were a great perk, and the room was super clean. However our room was right above a bus stop which was very noisy all throughout the night. And the valet was unclear to us when we drove past, there was no sign or loading zone in front of the hotel, so we just found our own street parking.

I enjoyed the included breakfast at the hotel. It was a pleasant stay, although I was a little iffy after we found a small blood stain on the bathroom door. Another thing was the listing stated parking included, but there was not. I had to park inside a parking garage down the street.

The hotel is older but I was ok with that. But the shower did not work when we got there. I was allowed to shower in another room. The parking charges were outrageous... when i should have only been charged twice i was charged more and more .otherwise the hotel was amazing. The ppl were very helpful it was jus a bad issue with parking

Pros: The hotel was a cute boutique. We loved the snacks, coffee, and tea. The breakfast was wonderful. We felt like we’re eating in a tropical jungle. Cons: VERY expensive to park your car and the bathroom was super tiny.

Bed horribly soft, crappy foam pillows, no phone to front desk, pool and gym 2 blocks away, bar is a complete joke, situated right behind the checkin counter, thermostat in room did not work… toasted at 75 degrees all night! Parking is ATROCIOUS!!! This “hotel” should get real and realize it is nothing more than a youth hostel at best, a complete disaster to my birthday weekend! Fool me once, shame on you!!! WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN!!!

This hotel was such a great place to stay it was central the only thing was the parking but it wasn’t too far so if your looking for parking it’s on 5th and broadway would be the closest parking structure. Other than that everything was good we were welcomed with a complimentary drink!

We stayed here with our toddler and absolutely loved it! The design is stylish and interesting, and the room was spotless. We appreciated the good-quality hair dryer and steamer, the fresh and nicely scented bedding, and the great shampoo and soap in the shower. Breakfast was another highlight – plenty of healthy options and, to our surprise, a selection of hot drinks besides coffee. Overall, we were truly impressed with our stay. However, it has now been two weeks since our visit, and we still haven’t received our refundable deposit.

Given the rave reviews and nice online property pictures, I was somewhat disappointed by this hotel. Expected more from a 4 star hotel. Note: It’s a pet friendly hotel. There were dogs in the foyer and elevator. Pros: Great location. Many restaurants nearby, only 10 mins walk to the San Diego Civic Theatre and various bars/nighclubs. Luxurious Le Labo toiletries. Cons: Older property with a very slow elevator. Small dining area with limited seating, which proved difficult to find a table during breakfast. Bathroom has no countertop or cupboard to store toiletry bags. Buffet breakfast was poorly stocked. Reserved a Gaslamp Double and the first room (521) allocated had a foul dog faeces/urine smell upon walking into the room. Reception staff were apologetic and moved me into a different room (321). Although not as pungent, the room still had a lingering dog odor, likely embedded in the floor rug. Went to breakfast at 9am and they had already run out of pancakes. Most of the hot dishes were lukewarm and the stations (bread, croissants, muffins, fruit, oatmeal) were empty. My lukewarm breakfast plate was cold by the these items were replenished. The coffee canister was empty 10mins after I sat down, leaving myself and many other guests frustrated.

I literally never write reviews. However after expressing how their resolution to my problem wasn’t enough, the manager hadn’t responded aI chose your hotel to spend my 30th birthday & found both rooms dirty. The main sheet of my mattress badly stained. Towels were stained. Rooms were just dirty. Security tried helping us to another room but that bedsheet was also stained and had hair all over it. At that point I had to take my baby to my moms room to sleep as we did not want to stay in there any longer and we just didn't sleep all night. This obviously affected my trip. My moms room 409 also had dirty sheets & dirty towels. 3 rooms dirty is just unacceptable.

Beautiful new hotel. Nice staff. Good breakfast. Edge of Gaslamp, convenient location. Only criticism is that the walls are poorly sound proofed. Could hear every word of our neighbor at 3 am.

We enjoyed the complimentary drinks and breakfast, which was above your average complimentary breakfast. The snacks were great too. However when it was time to sleep the traffic, people yelling outside and sewer clean up kept us up. The windows must be poor. Staff was friendly. We would Uber often and never had to wait more than a few minutes.

Staff was super nice and professional. they addressed any issues or questions quickly. Expedia had listing as “sleeps 3 “ but it was only a king, they got us a room with 2 beds right away. Rooms are small but adequate for a couple of adults and super clean. very original decor throughout hotel. Quite a few homeless people around outside but we still felt safe. Lots of night life but rooms are still quiet.

Welcoming front staff, free cocktail upon arrival (nice touch), rooms are not spacious but clean and tasteful. Break was very good. Expressive and snack closet in every floor. We were looking for restaurant options near the hotel and theater and the staff was not well informed. Only downside.

Staff was definitely professional, cordial and flexible. They were able to accommodate our early check-in, as well as our late check-out, which is always my personal biggest green flag as a traveler. Our "complaints" are more minor things, such as the one elevator to go up/down the hotel being extremely slow and quite small. The Granger's stairway is also a tight fit. The walls are thin in the hotel room so you can hear every door open/close on your floor.

Second time here this summer - location is unbeatable!!!! Close to airport, walkable to train / all the fun stuff in the area. Shout out to Kenya at the front desk- she worked really hard to get me and my friend into our room early! I’ll be back San Diego!

I only stayed for one day … It’s a beautiful hotel really clean. Staff is really nice and really polite. My room was really clean and it was really Quiet. I’m definitely gonna come back but the only thing they’re bothered me that I had to pay for parking and it was $65. But everything else was good. Everything is walking distance. There’s a good restaurants around the area. And I just want to say thank you to the staff. You did a great job.

Great location right in downtown. Walkable to everything. Ambiance was nice and staff was super welcoming. Would definitely recommend. Their breakfast was quite decent as well. They have a collaboration with the parking garage across the street.

This place was great, and I really loved the furnishings and decor. That said, I’m not sure I’d stay in this location again. It’s right in the heart of Gaslamp with plenty of bars and dining options, but it was surprisingly quiet during the weekdays. As a solo woman traveling alone, I didn’t feel entirely safe walking around at night or early in the mornings. If you’re heading toward the waterfront on Broadway, though, it’s fine.

Outstanding stay ! Service, breakfast, and over the top friendly staff made this a pleasant stay. Thank you, thank you, thank you ! Now, the area while in the middle of everything is a bit dicey. Coming from San Francisco, wasn’t a big deal to me. Just something that needed to be pointed out. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Charming building, and nice, cozy little room. Loved the complimentary drinks and breakast. Walking distance to everything, especially USS Midway and Little Italy. Also loved the coffee, water, snack armoire just outside our room. Would stay here again!

I love the property location. It's walking distance to all of downtown. The rooms were spacious, clean and updated. I loved the snack and coffee available on every floor 24 hrs a day. Breakfast was wonderful every morning. The staff were all very friendly and helpful at all times. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The free breakfast was very good- much better than many hotel free breakfasts. The fruit was fresh and there was a large selection of items to choose from. It is tricky to park and unload, especially if you arrive when 5th avenue is closed to cars. There is parking nearby though so we just rolled out luggage back a blockborb2. Staff were all very friendly and the welcome cocktail is a nice touch too. We enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again when we next come to San Diego.

The property ran out of breakfast. We went at 9:30am and the timing was until 10am. On complaining, the staff said there was nothing they can do. I asked to cover for my breakfast outside which they refused. Only offer was to take complimentary lunch or dinner at sister hotel which did not fit in our travel plan. The Manager (Toms) sounded as if he was doing a favor by offering complimentary lunch/ dinner. He refused any other kind of compensation. We ended up wasting our sight seeing time on finding a restaurant for breakfast, waiting in queue and paying for it when it was already paid for in hotel rate. This is first time in my life that we received such poor service from a Marriott branded hotel. Do yourself a fovor and pick another property. Also, there is a smoke joint next to hotel and we encountered few homeless people.
