Beachfront + swimming pool. Plenty of vendors at the beach. Beach chairs were uncomfortable. No direct light in shower. Room phone seldom worked. Cocktails were inconsistently mixed -sometimes strong other times weak. Pool chairs turn to run out by noon.

We decided to stay an extra day in PV and the Hotel Tropicana seemed like a nice place to do just that. We inquired at the front desk if there were any rooms with ocean view available for the following night. We were told no they were all booked. That’s ok we will take any room you have available. The answer was again sorry the hotel is full. We pulled up Hotels.com and booked an ocean view room without issue (weird). The hotel has great beach access and pools are both nice. The poolside chairs could be updated but they are comfortable. The room was clean and the beds comfy. View from the balcony was just what we were looking for. The hotel is located close to restaurants and shopping. Bell staff very helpful and friendly. Pool side service was great. Most of the front desk staff friendly and helpful. Pablo could work on his customer service skills a just a little. Over all a great experience and would recommend this place.

Rooms on 3rd and 4th floors with no elevator! Even though we are mobile and in fairly good shape, getting from the room to the beach or the lobby was difficult. Nice staff. Clean. Our check-in process took almost 20 minutes.

The hotel is one of the oldest Puerto Vallarta, but it has been renovated, has great swimming pools and it's next to the beach, with umbrellas and beach chairs. The restaurant has great food and overall is great location in the heart of the romantic zone.

Really enjoyed our stay here. The check in and check out process was easy; they were able to store our bags before check in and after checkout while waiting on our room/ride. The room was very clean and they freshened it up every day. The bed was fairly comfortable, the air conditioning and hot water worked great. We were on the first floor, so it was a little noisy. The beach was clean and it was nice to have chairs/umbrellas, but it was frustrating that they allowed people to leave just a beach towel to save chairs for hours. People do set up right in front of the “private” beach area, and there are constantly vendors walking by to sell jewelry, massages, or food; but I think that’s just the PV beach experience. Overall, we had a great time!

I'll start by saying we have stayed here before and it was nice so expectations were not unreasonable. After a few minutes in our room we noticed a sewage smell in the bathroom. A common smell in PV I figured it was just the toilet water and kept the lid closed. We learned the next day that the toilet was actually leaking from the main seal onto the bathroom floor. I went to the front desk and asked for a different room and was told it can only happen at 8-9am because of their computer and they are powerless to do anything else. They did send up some used beach towels to wrap around the base of the toilet for the night and offered me a different room to sleep in that was up 4 floors with no elevator. The next morning I was sick and so my wife went to the front desk. They told her there were no other rooms and that I had most likely gotten too much sun and being sick with a stomach bug would have nothing to do with raw sewage on the floor. After much wasted effort all they could do was offer to fix the toilet but we were done and wanted a refund for our last unused day. They could not do that as I booked through Expedia so I have to spend my time working with them for that. Also the AC in the room would shut off after running for 2 minutes and then turn on 15 minutes later. This room was terrible so if you stay here check your room and don't let them give you an old one. Also the front desk is not there to help. They treat you like you will steal towels.

Our first room was not as expected. . We had no hot water and the shower had black mold. This was not our typical experience with a superior room at the hotel snd we have stayed there many many times. It was all corrected the next day and we moved to a lovely superior room.. otherwise the experience

Where do I start?….The pool is very very dirty! I actually believe that I got a virus or bacteria from it…The property is quite run down overall. broken stairs and flooring …unlevel flooring and toilets in the room…mold on the bathroom wall..

Anterior mente ya me he quedado de 3 a 4 veses en este hotel y no había tenido problema, esta ves el día en que llegamos encontramos una chinche en la cama, la cual se reportó y rápidamente se nos cambió la habitación por solicitud de nosotros ( deberían de revisar más antes de entregar las habitaciones) de los 3 días que estuvimos NINGÚN DÍA SE NOS HIZO LA LIMPIZA, hasta el último día que fuimos a quejarnos de que no se había realizado otra vez la limpieza y mandaron a hacerla, lo cual todos los días pusimos en la puerta que se solicitaba la limpieza más sin embargo llegaba el personal de limpieza y volteaba la targeta para que pareciera que no la solicitamos lo cual se reportó el último día ya que ningún día anterior se nos realizó limpieza hasta que metimos la queja en recepción, anterior mente no había tenido queja de este hotel pero esta ves si me dejó mucho que desear

Great beach view room on 8th floor. Just wonderful, sounds of the beach day and night. Room was nice. Double check for fridge, check out iron with housekeeping, no microwave. Property lobby, pool, bar is amazing and beautiful. Will certainly visit again.

Our room was clean but old. Holes in curtains. No chairs in room. No WiFi in rooms. Toilet leaked when flushed. Bed comfort ok. On the other hand, our house keeper Mina was excellent!! Very accommodating and kept our room clean and refreshed daily. Pool cloudy the entire two weeks and lounge chairs were atrocious!

The property is a little south for my liking, and the check-in/out process was lengthy. There is no soundproofing between rooms nor from the hallway - you can hear everything. But the rooms are clean and have good views. Definitely good value for the price.

I like the fact it had easy access to the beach, it was clean & all the workers I interacted with were all very friendly. On the other hand, every night usually between 8:30-1:30 there was always loud pounding above my room. I believe there was the laundry facility in that area. It kept me awake & very irritating. I had to wear earplugs & it still didn't eliminate all the pounding noise.

When initially checking in, we were given a basic room on the 1st floor and told our "style" of room was sold out. Complaining the next day, the room classification that we paid for, suddenly opened up, and we moved to it. We were told that this upgrade is "on the house" but it was the original classification that we paid for......personally not happy with those tactics. Once we moved into the new room, the rest of the trip was good. The strength of the property is the employees (minus the front desk issues) and wait staff. All were very friendly and very accommodating with our simple asks. The location is great within Zona Romantica to provide easy access to the beach, as well as all the great restaurants in the zone. It is a good hotel for the amount that we paid.

No WiFi in our room. The only way to get ice was to take the pitcher down to the bar and they would begrudgingly give you some ice. If you didn’t have the pitcher, they would charge you. The front desk lady got ad at us for her coworkers action. They gave us an extra key and she acted like it was our fault. And she made the whole experience terrible.

We stay at Tropicana every time we visit Puerto Vallarta. The staff is wonderful and it is clean and right on the beach and many amenities in the area. Only issue we have, and it is every single time we have gone, you never get the right room. When you select the room they call the rooms by ither names compared to what you see on booking sites and ehen you show up the put you in the wrong room type, tell you they are booked solid and that they can move you but will take a day or 2. Very frustrating but it isnt just random, everyone we talk to around the hotel has the same issue when they check in as well.

Overall our stay was great. Two concerns: 1. When we arrived at 4:00 PM to check-in, the Front Desk Reception said the hotel was full. Confused, I said we had a reservation. She then wrote on a piece of paper "tip" and tapped her pen on those words several times. I was taken aback, but because she had not yet assigned us a room, and had said the hotel was full, I felt forced to pay it. 2. Hotel practice of allowing guests to put towels on both beach chairs and the loungers around the pool, effectively 'reserving' the spot for the entire day. Multiple times we'd arrive at the pool around 10:30 AM, and the ~35 chairs all had towels draped across them, but not a single person in sight. I was so frustrated one day I simply moved the towels and we sat down on two lounge chairs, spent 30 minutes in the pool, then left - still before the people showed up. Ditto on the beach chairs. Overall we had a great time. Hotel was basic but clean, staff friendly. And you can't beat the location.

It was really dirty, the wifi was absolutely horrible and I needed wifi for work. The check in staff were super miserable ☹️. TV didn’t work, door locks were broken. Extremely run-down property. I expected better for the price.

Hotel limpio, a pie de playa, buena playa, personal en recepción, toallas, limpieza, meseros en playa, en lobby para pedir taxis etc todos super amables. Tiendas cercanas para comprar alimentos si no quieres del restaurante. Los machos, pizza, desayunos y bebidas muy buenos y los puedes consumir en la playa del hotel

It was a very pleasant stay. The grounds and room were very clean, and the staff was courteous and helpful. We definitely consider going back to the hotel. Its location is great - waterfront with walking distance to many restaurants and entertainment. The restaurant's food is also good.

Great value for location! There is no coffee, wifi or fridge in the room. Wifi is pretty decent in common areas. Lots of seating on beach. Restaurant food was alright, but pricey as were drinks. Servers were all lovely.

Hotel had a more authentic older Mexican resort property feel. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Some parts of the hotel were quite noisy; the elevator arrival bell, there was a smoke detector with a low battery chirp. Easy fixes to make a stay better. Beverages and food were underwhelming. Drinks were a tad overpriced. Food was hit or miss. Convience store/grocery had great selections across the street. Just grab a cooler and some ice! Would stay again, we started with one night, then a second, then added 3 for a total of 5. We ate and drank mostly off site. Was easy to come and go dispite location being more on the south end of the RZ.
