We have stayed at this place a number of times. While this is an old property, it’s perfectly situated in the heart of everything. The staff are always helpful and the property is perfectly clean. Don’t expect a pool or a gym as there are no amenities. However, it’s exactly right in terms of location, service and price.

The staff were excellent and extremely helpful but the hotel must fix the elevator. It often does not work and it becomes a major problem when you are on an upper floor. The T.V. reception is marginal.

Not fancy, but clean, reasonably spacious, and with amazing location and staff - very friendly and helpful. A maintenance person went out of his way to find a tool to help repair my reading glasses, which was above and beyond. My one complaint is that there were only about 12 beach chairs on a daily basis and they were removed (along with umbrellas) at 3pm. It would make a world of difference to extend that time to at least 5pm! There is a decent (but pricey, even with 10% guest discount) restaurant on the beach that seems to have priority.

The hotel staff were excellent - friendly, helpful and accommodating. The location is great, the hotel is right on the beach, walking distance from many shops and restaurants. The room was nothing fancy at all but very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the restaurant Si Senor which was attached to the hotel. There was no pool, the rooftop had a hot tub sized cooling pool and some lounge chairs. I would stay here again.

Worst night sleepover 10 day vacation. There was a screeching sound of the water pipes all night long called to complain and nothing was done. We were not offered to move rooms and this screeching sound was extremely loud and happened every two minutes we were ready to leave, but there was nothing available in the city.. so far the hotel has only offered us a future discount but clearly we’re never returning. Also, the room had no beach view as advertised. The patio was full of bird poop and looked like it was never cleaned. The rooms are extremely loud from people walking by and partying on the street all night long. The doors do not properly seal and you can hear everything directly outside.

The location is excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. Cleaning staff great. Many thanks to Gaby, who took wonderful care of our room. View from our oceanfront room fantastic; sound of the waves at night, after beach nightlife settles down, is soothing and just lovely. The ocean is warmer this time of year and was a welcome pleasure.

The staff at El Emperador is great, committed to making our stay enjoyable. The entire facility is spotless and if there would be an issue they’re quick to make it right. The view of the beach is perfect and you can’t get any closer to the beach. We love coming here

The location is wonderful but the cleanliness was not great. When we arrived to our room, it smelt like mold and sewage. It appeared that there was mold on the bottoms of the curtains. We asked the front desk to switch our room and they let us choose between two different rooms and that was awesome of them. The room that we ended up staying in was way better but when we started the air conditioner it also smelt like mold so we did not run the AC our entire stay. There was also tiny ants coming out of the bathroom sink. We loved the hotel being right on the beach and loved falling asleep to the waves every night. It is very affordable so I guess you get what you pay for

The staff is always friendly, the hotel is clean, and the location couldn’t be more convenient. I’ve stayed here three or four times now. It’s an older property—probably built in the mid-70s—so it’s not the Ritz, but it’s comfortable and well-kept. If you’re looking for a nice, safe, and clean place to stay with easy beach access, this is a great choice. You can walk right out the back door, through the beach entrance, and have your toes in the sand within moments. We always enjoy our visits and look forward to returning again soon.

Great location! Right on the beach and close to restaurants and shopping and activities. Enjoyed my stay here ! I stayed in the ocean front (Standard Suite Ocean View) room. The view was excellent and the room was spacious. Nice balcony area also.

Great location, staff was very attentive and friendly, the rooms were OK, the building is definitely older and has outdated electrical sockets, and very few at that….We liked the fact that it had a full kitchen, but we did not utilize the kitchen as it was out on the balcony, and the AC unit, which is placed in the kitchen, was blowing out hot air (directly into the kitchen) the entire time you’re running the AC, which made it very hot to cook and enjoy. The staff did try to accommodate us with a similar room, however, all of the rooms have this type of set up that we were shown. Otherwise, our room was comfortable.

Small hotel on the beach. Rooms are fine but bathroom very small. Some rooms can be noisy but once we moved rooms it was fine. City view rooms have window that opens into the walkway for the other rooms so not private if curtains open. Kitchenette was ideal for us and we would stay at this hotel again.

Booked this trip last minute so could only get a standard room which was perfect for one person but note these rooms do not come with a view of the beach. Room was clean and on the top floor. Rooftop deck was perfect for watching the sunsets or just lounging. Hotel is a very short walk to the Malecon and safe for a solo traveler. The only downfall was not having a mini fridge in the room, something much needed when you want to keep cold drinks on hand. The staff at the front desk were all very friendly and helpful with recommendations on local places to eat, places to visit and transportation. Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is exactly what to expect from the description. The main draw is beach front access and being in the heart of Zona Romantica, but the rooms are pretty sparse and outdated....but you're too busy to notice that because of the view. The appliances in the kitchenette have seen better days, the bathroom was cramped, and internet was often spotty but Service was fine; front desk wasn't terribly friendly but my housekeeper Isabela kept my room fresh and tidy every day. I was sent some flowers during my stay, but they didn't come with a vase. I put them in a sad container, but during she went ahead and arranged them into a vase from the hotel. Such a great personal touch! I talked to some other guests during my 8 night stay and based on that would stay clear of

I will preface my review with *we would - and actually hope to - stay again*. The Pros for us win out. :) The Pros: Super helpful staff, spacious room, lovely rooftop terrace, great location, amazing views, fun walkable area with great cafes, bars, and restaurants, beach loungers provided to hotel guests (there aren’t many, so go early to get one). The Cons: The rooms are in need of a facelift - very dated. The room was generally clean, but the bathroom could use a deep cleaning for rust and residue buildup. The pillows were quite lumpy, and the linens were laundered but some were stained and dingy. The most disappointing thing for us was how uncomfortable the chairs on the balcony were. We had the most amazing view of the beach, pier, and ocean, but sitting for long in the provided chairs was out of the question. Replacing those chairs with comfortable ones would be a game changer.

This property is aged and is not well-maintained, yet it is located directly on the beach. The staff was very extremely nice and professional. We loved the beach and the rooftop. The only negative point was our city-view room had a window facing the hallway to access other rooms on that floor. Because of this, we had no privacy in our room. If I had known this I would not have booked this hotel.

The room was very outdated and the electricity didn't work in several of the plug ins. The kitchen in the balcony was very outdated and we didn't use it. The internet didn't work most of the time. However, the shower was FANTASTIC! Great water pressure and kiss of hot water. The staff was also great.

While my daughter was showering, someone entered her room through a window. When she opened the door she saw a man standing by the window with his hands underneath a black jacket. He had rummaged through her bag and had placed items on the bed. He was startled and ran out the room. We contacted the reception desk and they didn't even bother to come to the room. I had to go downstairs and question the receptionist, who was by himself. He would not allow us to look at the cameras until the next day when his manager would be in. We called the police and they came over, but they said since no one was in the room they couldn't do anything about it. My daughter didn't want to stay at this hotel, therefore, we had to scramble to find another place. I requested a refund the reception said they could not since we booked through expedia.

Very good hotel. Best part of PV. Great beach. Tons of restaurant choices. Everything is within walking distance. Hotel staff= front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance are super friendly and helpful.

My room was perfect for 1 person and it was clean. I had breakfast at a table in the sand every morning. I even watched a whale flap its tail from my table one day. The hotel is convenient to everything in PV. The staff from the front desk and to housekeepers were extremely helpful and nice. I highly recommend staying here!!

The staff at El Emperador is great, committed to making our stay enjoyable. The entire facility is spotless and if there would be an issue they’re quick to make it right. The view of the beach is perfect and you can’t get any closer to the beach. We love coming here

This is my third time staying at El Emperador and it’s been great. The manager Gervacio and the staff are amazing. You’re literally 30 feet from the beach and walking distance from a ton of restaurants & bars. If you stay there get a junior suite or higher as those have excellent views and are more spacious.

This property is located on the beach and next to the pier. Also lots of restaurants, bars etc a short walk away. For the price, well worth it. I recommend paying extra for an ocean view...can be a little noisy by the street side.

The location of the Emperador can't be beat, with direct beachside dining and sunning opportunities at your doorstep. It's situated in the heart of the Zona Romantica, surrounded by restaurants and shops. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the hotel was clean, but the decor and fixtures are in desperate need of a glow-up in order to stay at the level of its competition.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is fantastic—walking distance to plenty of restaurants and just steps from the pier, where you can catch a water taxi or boat tour. There’s even a grocery store right across the street, which was very convenient. The customer service team was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The only downside was the internet connection, which was quite slow and unreliable at times. Other than that, everything else was great, and we’d happily stay here again.

Perfect location. Right by the beach and surrounded by restaurants and convenient stores. The oceanview room is a must have! There was a balcony directly facing the beach and the kitchen was there for us to enjoy our food while watching the beach and hear the waves. I like how there were two beds that were separated by a wall for privacy. The kitchen was fully equipped but the stove wasn't working well. I wish there were more power outlets since there was only one by the other bed. We had to unplug the refrigerator to use the outlet to charge our phone. We enjoyed our stay overall and will definitely come back.

I always stay in Emperador knowing all the staff are very accommodating. The manager Gervacio and staff are very friendly. The location is so perfect. It’s by the beach and a lot of restaurants nearby.

Can be a bit active at night is you stay on the Oceanside. There are few beach chairs so go next door to the Delfin and “rent” a chair, umbrella and towel for $12US that is credited to drink food purchases. The best quacame is made at your table at the Si Senior downstairs. Remember to ask for your discount. It’s not automatic. Also try the other excellent restaurants on the beach.

Enjoyed my 7-night stay at the Emperador. I had good internet strength for my entire stay, and that’s really key for me. The hotel was quiet (for the most ) and I enjoyed that. I was ocean front on second floor farthest away from the pier. A visit in the slow season is good for a quieter visit to Zona Romántica, I think. Given this property’s location and amazing views, I’d love to see them invest in updated televisions and room decor. The restaurant downstairs was way overpriced for the quality of the food.

We actually found this place because we extended our stay by one day and couldn't stay in the hotel we were originally in. The restaurants on site are both great we had breakfast at Sr. and dinner at La Palapa. Both were amazing. Staff was friendly and helpful, and the beach was quiet even though it's in the marina adjacent to the pier.

Not fancy, but clean, reasonably spacious, and with amazing location and staff - very friendly and helpful. A maintenance person went out of his way to find a tool to help repair my reading glasses, which was above and beyond. My one complaint is that there were only about 12 beach chairs on a daily basis and they were removed (along with umbrellas) at 3pm. It would make a world of difference to extend that time to at least 5pm! There is a decent (but pricey, even with 10% guest discount) restaurant on the beach that seems to have priority.

The property is in a good location. Plenty of places to eat close by. Check in was easy. The room had a great ocean view. The room had a kitchen on the patio with a coffee maker plates , bowls pans and silverware. You will need to provide your own dish soap, coffee filters and paper towels. We only stayed two nights so did not use the stove top. The room has a large refrigerator. Staff was very nice. There is a nice rooftop area with a two person dipping pool. You get beach towels from the front desk. The hotel has a beach club in front. 8 lounge chairs are reserved for hotel members from 9 to 3pm. You also get 10 percent off at the beach club. Overall it is a nice place to stay.

Very nice hotel with kind staff. They are located right on the beach & there is a restaurant on property where you are given a discount for dining there. Rooms are nice with a fridge although the water filter/dispenser was not working. My only gripe is there isnt a pool and there isnt much beach strand to chill on the beach but you can walk a few short feet to the right and enjoy the beach right there. Location is fantastic right in the heart of all the action in the Romantic zone!
