Beautifully refurbished hotel, now called VOCO. Staff so helpful and friendly. Hotel ideally placed for an easy walk along the cliff promenade or a short walk down to the harbour. Excellent restaurant in the hotel for evening meal and breakfast, others available within 10 minute walk. A good base to explore Dover and the other Cinque Ports. Would definitely stay again.

The rooms are clean and newly decorated. Shops en city centre are in walking distance as well as the seafront. Breakfast is very good. Parking can be difficult, especially in high season/the weekend

Overnight stay due to seeing a show at the Leas Cliff Theatre which is literally right next door. Parking was easy in the Council spaces opposite the Hotel £5 for 24hrs from 12 midday on arrival (ask at reception). The Hotel has changed hands in the last few weeks (Voc) and we were pleasantly surprised at the interior and quality of furnishings/ Decoration and our room (404)was lovely, quiet with a panoramic Sea View, clean with quality bedding, comfy bed , walk in shower and an individual feel. Accessed by a small lift which was fine once you get used to it ! All the staff were friendly and welcoming, the bar had a relaxed feel and we did have good quality Bar snacks and drinks. Breakfast was above average with plenty of choice and good coffee. Would highly recommend and will return .

A nice hotel with a great restaurant spoilt by a few details. Very small old lift which was difficult for older parents, the shower was blocked so flooded the room below and a fire alarm went off around midnight. Staff were apologetic but made no real offer to make up for the problems

We had a wonderful stay at the Clifton Hotel in Folkestone! Long scenic walks to the harbour, delicious dining at the Marco Pierre White Chophouse, and the truly exceptional restaurant staff—who also brightened our morning at breakfast—made the experience unforgettable. The ambient bar was a lovely spot to unwind, and a little Costa Coffee bar available. Every member of the hotel team was warm, polite, and welcoming. They made us feel so looked after. We’ll definitely be back!

This was an anniversary trip. The Hotel has changed names so we had trouble in finding it and is also currently being renovated so had to juggle with builders/decorators around the hotel. Our room was on top floor (4th) one tiny lift, on that floor the corridors are narrow. Room was newly decorated as was the bathroom. We found the bed to be a small double. The room did have a mini fridge. The restaurant for us was good food and breakfast was help yourself buffet. We came by car and as the hotel doesn’t have its own car park we paid £10 for our 2 day’s stay for permit parking on the street, which couldn’t be guaranteed you’d get a place again if you returned from going out for the day. Once all the renovations are finished it’ll be a lovely hotel, the only thing that’ll stop us returning is the car parking

Super location. Really friendly and helpful staff. Amazing breakfast choices and beautiful restaurant for breakfast. Only negative thing about the hotel was the lift...it was absolutely tiny and quite grubby - not at all in keeping with the reception, bar and restaurant areas.

We stayed for six days and the hotel was excellent . Very good breakfast with attentive friendly staff. Room had been renovated . It was clean and had a calming atmoshere. Very good bar area also had quieter spaces near reception. Bed very comfortable . Amazing sea front views from our front facing room. .

Very convenient for town, beautiful walks along The Leas. Hotel very clean and staff helpful. Room on top floor, corridor very narrow for large luggage and floor in bedroom uneven with a slope so if your elderly or unsure with your footing could cause a fall, but ok once you remember it’s there. But really enjoyed my stay

Really enjoyable stay for our 26th wedding anniversary. Hotel has been recently completely refurbished and every surface is clean as a whistle. Super room with Nespresso coffee machine and marge brand new TV and huge bathroom Breakfast was way about average. I would call this a 5 star experince rather than 4 star.

Stayed here several years ago when it was a Best Western. Been modernised and much better now. Room was clean, new, spacious and quiet. Wifi worked fine. We ate dinner in the restaurant which was good. Nice selection of steaks.

This is one of the better hotels that I have stayed at. Convenient for the Channel Tunnel as it's only a 10 minute drive, the hotel itself is in a decent condition despite its age. Rooms clean and beds comfortable. Decent amenities onsite as well including a coffee shop and restaurant. But where this hotel excels is in terms of its staff. From the friendly and helpful man on reception, continuing on to the happy to help staff in the restaurant to the fantastic customer service of the guy running the breakfast in the morning, it all added to the stay. The cherry on top however was the actions of the hotel when we managed to forgot our little ones teddy and head off to France. A quick call to them confirmed that they had the bear and would get him back to us. On arriving home from our trip, the bear had been delivered along with 2 small bags of haribo in the box. One happy boy and a hotel that exceeded all expectations. Would highly recommend!!

Staff were polite and welcoming. Unfortunately our room was double booked due to a large party, I paid for a premium king but was downgraded. Breakfast was offered as compensation, which we accepted because we were not told until we arrived to check in and it was very busy so we didn’t kick up a fuss. I do feel we were at a loss, as it was very overpriced for an average buffet and we wouldn’t have chosen this. Hotel was clean, bar was stocked.

Booked a 'cosy' room and it was a little on the snug side, but fine for one night. Dinner in the restaurant was a bit disappointing and as I checked out at 5am, I didn't have breakfast. Hotel is clean, modern and nicely located on the sea front but the reason for my low score: the service generally was woefully slow!

Excellent location, walkable from the train station. Some trouble checking in & room wasn't as described but was sorted out the next day. Most staff were on the ball and very congenial. Food was excellent, afternoon tea was delicious, highly recommend the tea salon in the main restaurant. Lovely area, very historic and close to shopping and dining for a nice walk.
