Sun N Sand Resort

I booked the stay through Expedia, the information on the "resort" stated there was a restaurant and a bar on site. This was part of the reason I chose this hotel (not a resort). Only if you go to the website does it say the restaurant (which while looking through the closed windows looked like a snack bar) does it say seasonal. The "bar" a few chairs and a bar on the deck was closed most of the time we were there. I understand being ON the beach there will be wear and tear from the elements, there were broken parts of the building, and inside the building also had damage haphazardly repaired. The front desk clerk was abrupt and could have been more helpful. I asked about beach chairs. No there aren't any. Can I take a pool lounger to the beach. NO. You have a deposit, I can give you another deposit. I'm staying until Monday. No. I said if I buy a chair at a local store, I can't bring it on the plane it would cost more to check it than the cost of the chair. Sorry, no. Maybe you should go buy one. What, and then when I leave it here in the room you get to collect a brand new chair? (I didn't say that last part). Apparently asking about it annoyed her as my next interaction with her (day shift Friday and Saturday) when I asked if there were pool towels. The response I received was yes. That was it, nothing more. I then asked where they were. I received, I have them. Nothing more. Um, can I have two? Annoyed look and she went and got them.

I stay here once a year when traveling to Myrtle Beach and I am always satisfied with the service overall. This visit I didn't have any complaints or problems. In the past when I have had a few complaints, they were fixed by the resort with no problems. My only wish is that they would fix the restaurant downstairs again and have it open as well as the outdoor bar. The pools were working though both in door and outdoor. Also wish the outdoor pool was heated but that's okay. It's still nice. I highly recommend and clean.

We were disappointed by our stay. The room was clean and bed comfortable. The balcony was scary. There were large chunks of ceiling peeling, missing, and water soaked, with rusty beams exposed. The pools are too small for the size of the hotel. The room next door played loud, thumping music past 1 am. Calling the front desk and texting through the ap did not help. Someone came to tell them to quiet down, which they did, but only temporarily. We had no sleep on our 2nd night. We will not stay here again.

Booked at this hotel primarily for my grands to enjoy an indoor pool. Indoor pool was not available. Arcade room didn't have working coin exchange machine. My grands had ver little entertainment on sight because the weather was somewhat bad

No heated pool. Heater in room didn’t work. Old workout equipment. So many things wrong first time and last one here!

Hotel was clean and tiki bar had a great bartender. The pool was clean. Only complaint was they do not hold luggage if you get in early.

Pool was closed which was the main reason we chose the property. We purchased ocean front and was given a side room instead with a limited view of the hotel next door. No dining onsite as was listed. Outside was a construction site that had been postponed by the city for whatever reason. No outdoor pool to be seen. I’m not sure what cleaner they use but it wreaked of carcass. Our room smelled so bad. I wanted so bad to demand a refund but we had to have somewhere to stay for my daughters cheer comp. I will say, the employees were very nice at least. Good luck.

The parking garage is hard to navigate and the entryway isn't wide enough for two cars to pass each other. The room we stayed in didn't have enough light and didn't have actual blankets on the bed, just thin comforters. The bathroom is nice, but the toilet paper was inconveniently placed directly under the sink, but not on the side parallel to the toilet. The indoor pool was small, and the room had space for some kind of couch or chair by the window but there was empty space. Also, the remote didn't work and the room didn't have a phone to call the front desk.

Do. not. Stay. Here. No water in outdoor pool. No food service on site.

Nasty hotel. German Roaches everywhere

Roaches in hallway and in room. Ice machines not working. Had to request toilet paper, was not refilled daily.

Not clean. Needs updates inside and out. Asked for trash to be taken out and towels. Had to finally go downstairs and get them. Sheets on bed were not clean. The staff was very polite. Would not recommend to anyone else

Unlike other reviews, I felt the check in staff was really working diligently and was quite friendly during check in. Check in does get extremely backed up though. $11 add on for parking just heads up. The cleanliness was POOR. I’m not sure sheets were changed. Bathroom shower floors were sticky. Extremely misleading photos. Everything has been ‘redone’ but if you never wipe anything down and sanitize then it defeats the purpose. Paint was poorly done and sand all over baseboards. I simply feel the photos were not what you are actually walking into.

The room was very dirty, there was so much drywall dust behind the beds and even bugs crawling on the ground. The table in between the beds had cords everywhere and there wasn’t a single plugin around it. I wasn’t the only one who noticed bugs in their room either.

Place is FILTHY. Dirty room, microwave DISGUSTING, coffee maker DISGUSTING. This place is not clean AT ALL

Check-in staff were friendly but the room itself had many issues and did not look or feel clean - the towels had stray hairs, stains on the comforters and sheets, dirty windows, a leaky AC unit, broken curtains, random cords on floor, had issues logging onto WiFi and no one ever answered my phone call, only one working outlet in room, over all very run down place. Left a day early.

1-10 it was a 5.5 , I believe the security deposit should of been less due to we had to pay for parking for each night and I had to kill two bugs in my room first night . Definitely not the best. Also had to get new bed sheets due to some stains .. overall the view from our room was gorgeous.

This hotel have bed bugs, didn’t look anything like the pictures online. Probably why it’s so cheap. They say online they will refund, but the second you asked for your money back…no refund. I clearly showed them bed bugs crawling on their sheets, and she asked if I wanted another room. Why would I get another room when this one is so nasty and have bed bugs. The Sliding door didn’t locked. Anyone could’ve crossed over that wall and came in my room while we were sleeping. They had holes in the bottom around the wall. The door handle was exposed to where someone can put a camera in it if they wanted too. Anyone who gave this hotel a 10 probably was blind and dunk at the same time. Nothing about this hotel is a 10 0r a 1. If it had a zero on here I would rate it a 0. For the ones who stayed more than a day or even ten minutes in their room. You better check your house really good. I trash everything I had so their bed bugs won’t be coming back to my house.

Dirty, smells like old mop water, room was dirty. Hair in the sink and tub. Sheets had particles like hair. Pillow cases did not smell clean. Never coming back, even if its for free.

Our sray here was goo and it was easy access to the beach. It was in a quiet area, so there wasnt alot of noise or traffic. . Property definately needs updating as the door to the balcony was hard to open and the baseboards were loose.On the balcony were the vigarette butts and chip bags from the previous persons stay. As a first time visitor who has stayed at many great resorts, I would say this property is more in line with a 3 star hotel at best. It was a last minute booking and as we met others for the weekend, we endured it. We threw away anything that wasnt clothing as we discovered a hidden visitors. I.e. roaches on the dresser when we were packing to leave. Definitely a one and done visit.

Rooms were ok for the price. Construction noise during the day. Several fixtures did not work, some were rusty. Sliding door did not lock. Overall for the price it was not terrible

The customer service of the evening shift employees may be the worst I’ve ever experienced in all of my travels. Over the course of my 2 night stay, the hotel made a myriad of mistakes (ie hidden parking fees, locking us out of our room on the 9th floor, tissue-paper thin bedsheets (no comforter), a broken microwave + burnt out lighting fixtures, virus-loaded WiFi, the unlockable balcony door, and so, so much more). Did the employees offer a grain of hospitality amidst this torrent of dilapidation and oversight? Not a grain. In fact, I felt guilty for being there every time I had the misfortune of passing through the lobby and receiving their slow-blinking, zombie-like glares of derision (despite exchanging only a handful of “thank you”s and “I appreciate it”s in totality). Never have I paid hundreds of dollars to feel like such a burden. Upon returning home from “vacation” I felt only stupidity for having been duped with a cheap, “good” time. If anyone does choose to stay at Myrtle Beach for their vacation, don’t make the mistake I did. Pay the extra $100, $200, even $300 a night if you’re able and go someplace where you have a fractional chance of feeling wanted. If you’re unable to pay for somewhere nicer, just find lots of things to do outside of this cold, liminal, depressing hotel. — And don’t forget to bring your own room keys, comforter, balcony lock, microwave, lightbulbs, VPN, and love for life, because I promise you: you won’t find these items at Sun N Sand.

Overall it was a decent stay for the price my only complaint was that the beds are crazy hard

The hotel room was not very clean and very small compared to the pictures. Plus the ocean view was from the side of the building. Our bathroom door had water damage to it from the shower so upon arrival the door would not close. Had to go to desk and let them know so maintenance could come fix it with 4 screws, screwed thru the bottom of the door. U can hear everything in your room, from the rooms next door and hallway. The tv was so old the color had went out of in. The only trash can they provide in room is a tiny bathroom trash can. They gave us 1 quarter roll of toilet paper and told us no more will be provided until after 3 days. They gave us no ice bucket for our room. Half of the electrical outlets in the room did not work. The hotels WiFi was very slow and unable to work my child’s phone or tablet. Somebody was smoking in their room near mine and everytime we would use our bathroom and the fan would come on, it blew cigarette smoke straight into our room. Made our whole room smell of cigarettes. I made a complaint with the desk and the only thing she told me was they can’t enforce hotel rules on that floor because they had a permanent resident that lived up there. I spent over 800$ on this hotel for 2 days and 2 nights and i was very disappointed. I could have stayed at a super 8 or red roof inn and had that same experience and saved half the money. So if you are thinking of staying at this hotel. I hope and pray ur experience was better than mine.

The pictures don't look like the hotel I was supposed to get a room and ocean view and I didn't. Also my balcony door wouldn't lock and my phone didn't work. The only good thing about it was it was on the ocean it wasn't a good birthday for me!!

The first two nights were great, but the 3rd night several fraternities checked into the hotel. The noise was terrible with yelling, slamming doors, etc, all around us. Had to wait for the elevators for at least 5 mins each time. These kids were disruptive, smoking weed, drinking, yelling, and slamming doors. They were in neighboring rooms on the same floor and above us. Had to get out of bed in the middle of the night to go down to the lobby because the phone wasn’t ringing through to the front desk. The lady didn’t seem to care and was dismissive. Security was great, but they couldn’t get the noise to stop even after addressing them at least once. In addition, the bed was really uncomfortable and the linens were thin. No additional blankets in the room, so I was cold on top of being uncomfortable. The room was mostly clean, but a couple areas were still dirty. We only had flatware for one person even when checking in for two people.

The lobby area was run down looking and the bathrooms in the lobby area were horrible, paint peeling off the stalls, rust, gross looking tiles. I was really afraid at that point to find out what our room would be like. But when we got to the room we were pleasantly surprised. It was updated, bright, spacious and clean with a great ocean view.

Hotel is outdated needs care bathrooms in lobby are in bad condition I guess the status of the guests also leaves a lot to think while checking in people was jumping in front with no regard During our stay there was no house keeping and they gave us a piece of paper stating that if there was trash let in the room we will be charged extra so add that there was no house keeping we have to take out our own trash

Receptionists are unprofessional and rude, manager completely ignores guest needs. Unapologetic behavior. Only Housekeeping manager did a great job with the problem with our room. Besides that, is a waste of money. Never again.

The staff were all friendly and helpful at checkin. The parking garage was a great idea, however I think it should be something offered to guest without having to pay to park. The room was clean. Stayed pretty quiet throughout the night so we were able to relax. Overall it was pretty good

We was overbooked. Mind you it’s July 4th weekend. Last min booking on that day was crazy high. N we ain’t from here we took a plane. So when they couldn’t find us on the system was crazy cause they literally had a list of all the people that’s overbook. Instead of calling those people about what happened that they can’t host us so we can know our next move. They let us come down just to turn us around with a number to call cause they can’t help us to find our own resolution. Still haven’t gotten my refund. Worst experience. Just the lobby was dirty cant image the rooms.

We stayed monday through Friday. After arriving we were afraid due to other reviews. The staff was absolutely friendly up to the point where my fiance asked where the bathroom was and the lady replied "right around the corner are you blind?", and my fiance is actually partially blind which is why he asked. This was brought to the managers attention but she never apologized which is why there is such a low review. We seen no bugs or homeless people or fights, etc. I did find it frustrating that you have to pay for parking even after a deposit when they have a parking garage. I also found it frustrating we had to ask for room service everyday otherwise they didn't service the room other than removing the old towels. The view and beach access were amazing. The downstairs bar was amazing. The pools were nice but not cleaned by the amount of sand at the bottom. They need more pool chairs for the amount of guests. The wifi wouldn't work or hook up. Our phone wasn't hooked up, we had to ask. I think this hotel could improve alot with a staff change. I think that's the biggest problem. I also think you shouldn't have to ask for more coffee or towels everyday or your bed to be made especially for extended stays.

We had a few things that were broken in our room once we checked in in but they came and fixed it overall GOOD SERVICE!

Check in took over an hour from waiting in line. We were overbooked by 3rd party and was put in a room without a balcony and was told to speak to the manager in the morning about the mishap. I walked down to the desk early and was told to come back around 10-11am. I came back at 10:50am and was told she has stepped away for an hour or so. I came back for the 3rd time and was told they couldn’t accommodate us. We were told I would pay half of the first night and be refunded for the rest of the stay. That has not happened yet. While sitting on our bed we saw a roach crawling in the room. The parking was really a hard fit for our SUV. I just hope they refund my money. I could not recommend this place to anyone. I feel bad for the workers but they can only do so much as they were all communicating with cell phones. I never saw a manager. We were just handed a receipt when asked for a written statement about the refund.

I'll admit the check-in was long. I feel they needed one more person working at the lobby desk but once we were up to check-in Will was great. He patient, thorough and pleasant. Any staff member we came across were kind and accommodating. Once we got to our room, I always clean my room and the room was quite clean. Our room had 2 queen size beds a larger fridge and an ocean view. We didn't spend much time in our but when we did, it was quiet, air was great and the beds were comfortable.The room served it's purpose and we were happy with our overall stay.

This is the quietier side of Myrtle Beach . There was not a lot of traffic even though we were there in August. Every one who works at this hotel were very friendly and kind to us ! My sister has a disability and is short . She could not get on the bed . The maintenance man, Mr . Golding brought in a short sturdy stool from his home so my sister could step on to it to get on to the bed. It worked! This is above and beyond kindness and thoughtfulness ! It was a wonderful stay !

Oceanfront hotel with a seven story parking garage. I had an oceanfront room for two nights in October. Plenty of room since the season is over. Room was clean with a refrigerator and microwave (did not use) and a recently updated bathroom. Although a lot of people are out walking know that there are really no restaurants except Damon’s within walking distance.

Was a nice spot on the beach with easy beach access. Very strict on check in making a line right at 4. The room was nice but not the cleanest.

Its in a great location, but it is a budget hotel. It is missing many amenities in the room. The towels are super small. The parking is okay at $12/night. Just don't expect too much from this low cost stay. Still had a good time with the family.

Not to bad put there was construction going on in different places , parking was a bit hard for an full size van only can park on first floor since it was bike week there were a few trailers taking up the spots, property was right on the beach

Was very nice , clean. Nice staff. Loved being right on the beach I like how you can’t get up to the rooms unless you have a card so that safety is very important. Only thing I don’t like is you spend that much money? I don’t believe that you should have to pay for parking. That’s the only downside other than that, this is a great place to stay right on the beach pool nice little game room very nice people Was asked if we needed towels. Every day was awesome, but like I said, the only downside was having to pay to park my car on their property after I had already paid so much to stay at their property.

The property needs a good cleaning. It smells. There was no food or bar service. Construction going on at the site. Personnel not very professional. Only 2 employees were friendly. Said they might be merging with Marriott. That would be a good thing.

I liked it there. Price was good. Parking was good. Right next to beach. I wish they had a Continental breakfast or at least coffee (vs the room coffee). The woman who checked me in was great. Do not know her name though.

I love it was right on the beach sadly there bar or restaurant was not open even tho it said I was suppose to be open in April. Staff were very friendly. Now I stayed in 1401 which definitely could use some upgrading but not bad for what I paid for even tho they need to fix the shower when you turn the knob to hot it’s freezing and when you turn the knob to cold it’s hot lol and definitely needs to someone to clean the windows and fix the trim, the phone, and two lights.

Beach access great. Tiki bar great.HATED PIZZA FLYERS SHOVED UNDER IN AND ALL OVER ROOM DOOR N HALLWAYS.
