Very large hotel, there was plenty of food and shopping options inside the building. Staff was super helpful, made checkin/checkout quick, were very professional, and helped us with our bags. The room itself was pretty good. Pretty spacious with a nice tv and good sized bathroom, and they left complimentary candies with a welcome note which was a nice touch. There's a small convenience store and coffee shop in the building as well which is helpful. Definitely a hotel on the fancier side if that's what you're looking for, but wasn't over the top

A solid choice with some room for improvement. The breakfast is somewhat below par and the pool does not open until 10 AM. Also, the sky bar closes at 9 PM. That said, very comfortable and friendly staff.

Ein wunderbarer Aufenthalt. Beim Frühstück muß Wartezeit einkalkuliert werden. Die Warteschlange ist mitunter lang - egal zu welcher Zeit. Das Haus hat einen wundervollen Garten. Der Poolbereich war jahreszeitlich geschlossen und kann daher nicht bewertet werden. Die Zimmer sind sehr sauber. Bitte darauf achten, daß es diverse Kategorien gibt. Das Personal ist freundlich. Die Infrastruktur des Hauses selbst und umliegend ist gut. Ich würde jeder Zeit wieder das Hotel wählen.

Very nice, comfortable, clean room. Love the garden and general atmosphere. Best aircon in the world! Responds to 0.5 degree change and totally silent. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice selection of restaurants. Although I’d suggest keeping the top floor bar open beyond 9pm! Internet not brilliant, but “good enough” for me.

Great hotel. Does not feel aged. Plenty on property for convenience such as a coffee shop, convenience store and a pseudo grocery place. Close proximity to Subway lines but don’t trust google maps. Almost always chose the location as Akasaka-Mitsuke station rather than the hotel or else you’ll be hiking quite a bit to and from the hotel.

Can't fault this hotel. Very good in all respects. Very comfortable room with good views and space for the whole family. Superb bathroom with Japanese style washing area. Enjoyed the pool. Breakfast buffet very good in lovely room overlooking exquisite Japanese gardens. Service impeccable. Beautifully refurbished since our last stay while preserving most of its classic Japanese modernism. The area seems more vibrant too. Wish we'd booked another night.

Absolutely amazing experience. What a beautiful property! Very high class vibe with many shops and restaurants on site, some on the higher end of the pricing scale. The hotel garden is picturesque at all times of the day/night giving some lovely opportunities for photos. The sky bar gives amazing views of the surrounding area, particularly at night once the lights come on. The various restaurant options on site cater for many different cuisines. Staff all super friendly and happy to help. Surround location is good, with Asakusa-Mitsuke station within a 5mins walk. Our room was a great size, with a nice large bed and large bathroom, perfect for relaxing in the bath after a long day on your feet exploring the Tokyo metropolis.

Overall very good experience and staff always polite and helpful. The drawback is the lack of outdoor spaces useable in Summer. Even the swimming pool is only open for 3.5 hours. Spending the entire day inside is unpleasant every day and greater use of the pool area is really essential

Otani main was a good choice. King bed room was spacious. Firm bed was great. Amenities were great. Restaurant dinner was slow and just okay. Bathroom was very small. Gym was good but hot and limited treadmills with one of two out of service. Concierge was excellent to our group dinner options.

Very well staffed and excellent service. Hotel is 5 stars but the room carpets have stains. In serious need of a refresh. The VIP benefit was a food credit that could be used for room service. However when I ordered room service they charged my card immediately instead of at the end of the stay and advised they could not honor the credit. So that was disappointing.

It smells a little bit weird inside the hotel and in the rooms (high humidity and smoke). In addition, the furniture and floor need to be replaced, especially for a hotel with 5 Stars. It isn‘t just looking old, at some furniture the doors didn‘t closed well or were damaged. I can‘t recommend the normal rooms, maybe the newer rooms with the special bath are better.

The hotel was wonderful and the staff was great. The rooms are small and don’t have adequate air conditioning. They had to bring in a portable fan to cool the room. The gardens are beautiful, specially the rose garden. Tokyo was amazing.

My room was divine. The most comfortable and thoughtful oasis. The view! The welcome gifts! The breakfast! The garden! I wish I would have stayed there my entire trip instead of just two nights. Check out was at noon so I stayed till 11:45 and savored every moment. Every detail of the place is carefully and masterly thought out.

We enjoyed our stay at The Hotel New Otani - The Main in Tokyo. It's a beautiful, sprawling property. The garden is lovely to stroll through. The rooms are spacious, modern, and clean. We requested a baby cot and it was in good shape. I got a massage at the spa and it was excellent. The breakfast options were all wonderful, and the view from the 40th floor dining area was great. The bell desk helped us with luggage forwarding service. Every employee we interacted with spoke great English and was very helpful. The Akasaka area was well connected and quiet. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed in a Shin-Edo room which was phenomenal. We loved the cypress bath and the modern Japanese style to the room. The room was also very large for Japanese standards. The staff at the hotel was also exceptional. Everyone we interacted with was extremely kind and professional, and most spoke good English which was a plus for us.

I always look forward to coming back to this hotel, the grounds are beautiful, the public areas are spacious, and there are lots of eating spots in the hotel, and good connections nearby. The rooms have been updated relatively recently, and are lovely and clean. There are staff absolutely everywhere so you can always get help with whatever you need. Very happy!

We stayed in Main hotel. Beautiful decor and view of spectacular gardens. Room was very spacious. Didn’t like bathroom. Needed updating and granite floor was slippery when wet and dangerous, as was the 2” step into bathroom. I slipped and tripped many times. Bed was very firm and pillows small. Not comfortable for me. I would stay again.

I arrived at 6 in the morning to check in and was told the room will be ready by 2pm, when we returned at 3pm the room was still not ready and told to wait until 4pm, the staffs were not helpful at all and didn’t offer any directions for us even when we asked that we would like to pay for a spa session while we wait. I have always been a traveler for both business and pleasure, this is the worst experience ever for my travel

Poor communication. When I want to pay at the reception before my guest check-in, the reception said they do not accept credit card, asked me to go to ATM machine to get the cash. When my guest check out, because my guest had the bar and restaurant services, so they said they don’t accept credit card, but my guest need to rush to the airport so the reception took his 2 credit cards number while I am on my way to settle, when I arrived the hotel and made the payment in cash, they gave me the receipt which is completely not in the same format. We will not use the hotel in the future.

Everything was great. If traveling in summer you can walk indoors inside the hotel and get within 400 yards of the subway entrance Akasaka-mitsuke or Nagatacho. Do not follow google maps walking directions to either of these entrances. Stay in the hotel all the way to the end. This hotel is very close to all the action via the subway or taxis. Concierge was helpful in advance of our arrival with diner reservations, baseball game, and more. The room I stayed in had the wood bath and king bed. It was very spacious for Japan. Wife and I did not fell cramped at all bathroom had two sinks. Very nice walk in closet. The hotel is slightly dated, but it didn't matter to me.

One of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had at a supposedly “luxury” hotel. We stayed here for over $600 a night and were shocked by the treatment we received after checkout. Our flight wasn’t until 6 PM, so we planned to spend a couple hours working quietly in one of the hotel’s many public lounges — something you’d expect to be acceptable at a hotel of this size and price point. After sitting in an entirely empty lounge for about 20 minutes, working on my laptop (plugged into an outlet), a hotel staff member approached me and, without a word, gestured “no” at the outlet. I was confused, especially since the nearby concierge lounge was full of guests doing the exact same thing. When I asked what the issue was, he pretended not to understand English and started speaking to me in Japanese. After several tries to get a clear answer, he finally said — in perfect English — that I could only use outlets in my room, implying I was loitering. This was incredibly insulting, considering we had just checked out and spent hundreds more at the hotel’s restaurants. He refused to explain further and ignored the fact that other guests were clearly allowed to do the same thing. It was bizarre, passive-aggressive, and left an extremely sour taste in our mouths. If you charge luxury rates, you need to offer luxury service — not make guests feel like they’re being kicked out the door. We won’t be returning.

I always stay at the New Otani when I'm in Tokyo. The subway station (Akasaka Mitsuke) is a few minutes walk from the hotel and it has both the Ginza and Marunouchi subway lines - making it easy to get to your desired location in the Tokyo Metro area. The 400-yr old garden is beautiful as well at the rose garden. Staff is exceptional, as you would expect in Japan. Don't miss the weekend buffet at Trader Vic's. Its a little pricey but the food is amazing and the sparkling wine is all you can drink. I stayed in a Shin-Edo room. Highly recommended. It was an awesome modern Japanese experience.

This is my second time staying because it is such a wonderful hotel. The garden alone is worth the extra cost. The rooms are very good size and the staff is well trained. It gives you a feel of good old-time charm plus model conveniences. It is not in the middle of "everything" but the train station is only 5 minute walk away, so it was not too bad at all. Ginza and Shibuya are only a few stations out, so you can get to everywhere just fine. Also, the airport bus from Narita (not Haneda) stops at the hotel, so that's super convenient. It's always on the top of my list every time I visit Tokyo.

Very well located, walkable to Yotsuya and Akasaka-mitsuke stations where accessible to multiple train/metro lines. Walkable to the Imperial Residence (Hanzomon), Hie Shrine. A 7-eleven is just down the street, and Akasaka-mitsuke dining area is also walkable. Very quiet hotel, considering it is in the heart of Tokyo. Attentive staff. Room was clean and well well maintained, sufficiently sized. Will stay next time.

The New Otani Tokyo is always our Goto hotel in Tokyo. It is great to come back to this hotel after a busy day of shopping and visiting different attractions, as it is very calm a relaxing. This hotel is walking distance away from the subway and many dining options we love this facility. They are really consistent with the up keep and the service. Their breakfast options are excellent. I will be back in a few months.

Great rooms and full service. Excellent staff. The Capri lounge is excellent as is the sky restaurant at top. What’s bad is the breakfast buffet. It’s tasteless and minimal. I tried twice and even went to the garden tower to try theirs. I ended up paying more and doing the restaurant buffet which was much better.
