Renaissance Columbus Downtown Hotel

The roof pool was so unique and why we initially booked the hotel!

The staff was very polite and always helpful. Lobby was clean and welcoming and Valet was quick to retrieve our vehicle. Only a few things to note. The hallways were so hot that it was uncomfortable. The towels in the room, were quit stiff and starchy. Not soft and supple like you expect from a towel. The ice machine on our floor did not work, but all others I found worked just fine. I would stay here again.

Pool and hot tub was a nice amenity, but hot tub was not hot. Was an ok stay. Nothing special for the price

Staff was excellent. Pool/hot tub area and water was not the cleanest. Got in and right out of the hot tub when I saw dirty scum on the inside wall. Only downside of our stay. Room, food and staff were great.

Valet was WAY overpriced and understaffed, doing their best but not cutting it. Especially for the astronomic cost.

Rooftop pool

The staff were so friendly and helpful even when we decided to extend our stay, they helped us work through the “”hiccups” of the process. The hot tub is way too cold and I think the pool hours should be until 10-11. Other than that, everything was excellent.

The property was fine and the staff were polite. I was very surprised since the web site advertises free wi-fi, and then i received a sticker shock at check out. They charged me $14.95 everyday for Wi-fi although I am a Marriott BonVoy member. I am extremely disappointed. It was very hard to read the bill.

I truly enjoyed the recreational aspects of this hotel to include the rooftop pool and amenities at the pool the only thing that will make this hotel better as if the rooftop pool bar was open seven days a week. It was not open on Sunday.

Hotel needs some updating. Beds were Ok but Toilets are the lowest toilets I have ever seen. Just taller than a water bottle high. Half the elevators were broke ao long wait times. Bathrooms in conference area were not kept clean. A wine glass stayed there for 2 days! Plus holds in funds take almost a week to drop off so don't use your bank card!

Overall great, safe, clean hotel

Hotel was beautiful, immaculate, & clean. Room was very nice, clean, quiet, and nice amenities. Microwave was available by the ice machine. However, our I’ve machine on Floor 18 was not in service, and I had to keep going down to Floor 16, to get ice. Housekeeping came so late, at 4:35 pm, without notice, after our Family was just trying to settle back in our room, to eat a late lunch (after Volleyball Tournament play), so we had to grab all the hot food, and go downstairs to the lobby, so housekeeping could clean the room. The main glitch was the communication between Hotels.com & the Renaissance Hotel. Our Volleyball Club had a change in Tournament location earlier in the week, 10 minutes after I made the reservation. I called the hotel immediately, to try to cancel, but the hotel said that the cancellation had to be initiated by Hotels.com, with a cancellation confirmation number. I contacted Hotels.com immediately, and explained my situation. They said that the Renaissance Hotel had to approve the cancellation (so I was getting the “finger pointing” from both parties), and Hotels.com tried to contact the Renaissance Hotel daily for 3 consecutive days, but I was told there was “no response” from hotel management with the decision or approval of cancellation. (I prepaid the hotel stay for 2 nights, total $550 or so). Thus, I was stuck with this prepaid hotel booking, while the ENTIRE rest of the Volleyball Team stayed at a different hotel, attached to venue. Frustrating!

Safe, quiet, immaculately clean, convenient, within walking distance to good restaurants and nationwide arena

Unfortunately the bedding had not been changed on one of our beds and we found blood as we were heading to bed late on Friday night. Big shout out to Mohammad who was quick to help us any way he could and saved the day with clean sheets.

The toilets are terrible, fine for a midget, but for a normal size person way to small, I don't think they are standard height. they are so small if you have bad knees good luck getting up. I have bad knees and was almost stuck there, it was a scary moment trying to stand. then watch out for taking a shower-if someone flushes you get a cold shower. the sheets on my bed had stains on it, but it was a clean room.

I was very pleased with these aspects in particular: extremely comfortable bed, great water pressure in the shower, and the fact that my room was very quiet despite being near the elevator and ice machine.

Great location, courteous staff, and clean spacious rooms. For the most part, it was a wonderful stay. The only complaint was the toilet. It was only about a foot off the ground, something that should be in a pre-school. Odd!

Hotel was in need of a refresh. Carpet was worn, ice makers didn’t work, pillows were dead and bed was lumpy. The room was very dated with an industrial type toilet. Also the food in the restaurant was not of the best quality ( a member of our party became I’ll after eating the breakfast buffet). Overall it did not meet our expectations for a Renaissance Property.

The room was nice. We did not have hot water in the shower or sink. The water would serge from warm to cold.

The bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was very spacious and clean. Air conditioner was very quiet when it turned on.

Very modern and nice property. Toilet in room is very low to the floor and very close to the sliding shower door. Also, would be great to have at least one USB-C port in the room.

Half of the outlets in our room didn’t work, the room (king size bed) was VERY tiny and the shower head didn’t work either. My brother and sister in law stayed too and their TV and phone didn’t work. Very poor quality for the price. I won’t be returning and honestly, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. You’re better off saving money and staying at a motel than this place.

The mattresses could stand to be turned iver or around as there was a dip on the edge where people sit and a hump in the center. The carpet was worn and dirty looking and the room had a funky smell. The lobby also had that same funky smell and lighting in lobby was off-putting at night.

It was okay. Not worth the money. I could hear the people outside my room at 3am that woke me up and could hear doors slamming shut. No breakfast served not even water in the room. Had to even ask for a toothpaste which wasn't provided in the room. Not worth the money at all. Not much to do around the hotel

If you are going to book for an event you should be prepared to be flooded with guests. My room was reserved and PAID FOR months before iur checkin. Yet our room was not ready as well as 200 other people that were checking in. We were put on a waitlist to be called when it was ready. 3 hours later no phone call. I got changed in a bathroom stall with 10 other girls who had no room yet. It was so hot inside my hair was soaked from sweat. I couldnt even clean up before our event that started at 5pm. That ruined my experience. We waited to try to check in at 4pm our room wasnt ready. Your policy is 4pm check in. Im not sure I would reccommed if you have any sort of timing itinerary. Other than that our room was nice. Clean and comfortable.

Werent able to check into our room til damn near midnight!! TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE

Staff wasn’t super friendly, check in felt complicated, didn’t know valet was the only close option for parking and it was very expensive. Overall not the best experience I’ve had at a more expensive hotel

Great restaurants were within walking distance. We were attending a venue at the Arena and were able to make the walk and arrive within 15 minutes. There was no need to use our car during the entire stay. The valet service is outstanding. Again, greeted with smiles, kind words and an outstanding performance. Upon check out, with a quick text before leaving the room, our car was ready and waiting for us. I highly recommend this hotel for your stay.

Great staff and clean room with modern style.

This is by far my favorite place to stay in Columbus. Staff are awesome and Julie at the front desk is one of the most helpful and friendly hotel staff person I’ve encountered in all my travel over the last few years.

The front desk was super helpful and we had an amazing room. We could see the pool at night which was beautiful. The rooms were clean and the noise was limited.

I booked this property because of its proximity to the Ohio Theater. It was a simple 5 minute walk to and from our show.

Check in and check out was easy and no wait at all. Front staff was nice. We did breakfast in the morning which we do not recommend. It was very overpriced for a self serve buffet line and not very organized. The omelette was very good but the person working at the station had no personality. Highly recommend searching for another food option in the area if time allows. Room was okay. Not horrible but not state of the art. Surely could use some updates. I think we got placed in a handicap accessible room so the toilet was practically on the ground. I thought the shower pressure was great being so strong, wife thought it was too strong. While it was not something to write home about we would stay again. Walk was about 15 minutes to the arena so location was not bad at all. Everything was within a decent walking distance.

Not bad walk to Nationwide

We were there just for one night, but the room was clean and the bed comfortable. I think the dining room closes a bit early on weekends, but there is a nice little bar, Tip Topp, right around the corner.

I'm not one to really ever complain or ever post a eh review but when we got to the hotel we weren't informed on booking that nor everyone was gonna get free breakfast with stay. You would think with paying 200+ for a hotel downtown Columbus you wouldn't have to pay for breakfast at all when there are plenty of other hotels that will allow it for nothing. Especially ones who have better customer service & management skills. Never was informed on booking that you had to do vallet parking. 45$ per night. Rooms we're pretty clean . Bathroom was eh. It was ok. Floor looked extremely dirty. Beds we're so uncomfortable and pillows sucked ! One of the worst hotel experiences I have had. Barely any communication. Room service lady was amazing though!! Front desk people we're nice. Vallet people ok. Management in dining is very eh! Paid when I got there and then tried charging / having us pay again. Should tell us when we check in that they will ask before you leave that will happen. No exhaust fan in bathroom. Room was very very tight. Fiji water in room is extra if you use. It is a good business model for them but good wait to guilt people who don't pay attention into extra money. Overpriced for what you get. You can get better quality hotel service and hotels elsewhere .

Hotel room was clean. Everyone was very friendly in the hotel. Food was good in the restaurant. And the distance to the places that we went to were walkable. That helped a lot.

I will start with the good. -clean rooms and clean overall -nice pillows, big tv, nice writing desk -nice big comfortable lobby Less good. -beds are not very comfortable -toilets are very low and drip water -shower doors to not stay closed and water gets all over the floor -bathroom and closet share a sliding door... just weird -no complimentary breakfast:costs $23 PER PERSON extra for the normal breakfast you get at any nicer hotel -no parking besides their valet: costs $45 per day --some valet workers are very nice and they bring the car very quickly. But others are RUDE AS HECK. Their employees stole a magnet off the backside of my car. Went in with the magnet, came out without it and only valet workers go into the parking garage -will not help out guests whatsoever: we were there only for my husband to take the Bar exam, which they were hosting. The test is 2 days 9-5. Checkout was 11 am and they would accommodate anyone to stay in the rooms longer, unless you paid $35 for ONE HOUR LONGER. Cars left in the parking garage past 5 also were charged another $45, so anyone taking the exam there alone were charged an extra $45 when the exam THEY WERE HOSTING ended at 5 For $200+ per night, this was an astronomically horrible experience and WAY overpriced. We will never stay here again. Highly recommend though if you're traveling for business, need a nice place for 12 hours and you have a business credit card.

Had a pretty good stay definitely was a bit noisy The bathrooms could’ve been a little bit cleaner and taken care of toilet seat was loose when you went to sit on it . When the room was booked said breakfast fee went down to breakfast. They sat us told us where the food was and then gave us the bill (after we ate)for the price almost 50$for a breakfast buffet that was nowhere near worth it.

Arrival and check in was easy with the valet service and great front desk staff, Andrew in particular. Room was perfect and we had a good time at the bar.

In-house restaurant had limited hours and options, and restaurants nearby closed early. Very strange for a downtown area, but it was a very clean downtown and people were mid-west friendly 😀
