Sheraton Columbus at Capitol Square

Air conditioning wasn’t wrking was 80 degrees in room ask for towels at 4:30 didn’t come so had to shower n leave for a concert at 7 came back still no towel until I called for 2nd time at 12:30 when got back in an they have four elevator n only 2 wrk then on last day only one wrking n ppl had to use service elevator very unsafe an the ppl that park cars very unorganized n some time nasty only person parking cars was the tall young man the 1st day there n trust me if I would have seen him before I left def would of got a tip

Only had one elevator working during checkout hours on a Sunday. Waited 20 minutes for an elevator and ended up hauling everything down 11 flights of stairs. But other than that it was pretty good.

The air conditioning in the room was barely working. The coolest we get the room was 75 degrees. The water in the sink in the kitchen area was a drip at best. Finally, we valeted our car and someone hit it. No one told me and had it not been for my daughter who noticed it I would not have been advised while onsite.

The room itself was clean. The front desk staff was professional. Didn’t see any other hotel employees except the valet, which we didn’t use. If you choose to self park in the basement parking garage, you enter the hotel through a semi creepy, semi abandoned, mall. The entrance to the hotel from the mall is unmarked. You have to guess which door to go through. There was an open door to the freight elevator on the floor my room was on and there was a heavily stained mattress leaning against the wall.

This hotel only had one working elevator with 22 floors to go to. We had to wait over 15 minutes for an elevator. The AC in our room was not working throughout the whole night. We had it set down to 66 and it stayed at 74 all night. The elevator reeked of weed.

Friend got stuck in the elevator. Maintenance guy waited 45 minutes before asking for help. Probably wouldnt even have asked for help if we didnt go investigate what was taking so long. Maintenance guy was laughing and treating the situation as a joke.

Never again. Valet parking is an absolute joke. DO NOT let this hotel/Columbus Parking Management (their valet vendor) park your car. 50 minutes to retrieve car - again, almost AN HOUR to get car from parking garage around the block. Hotel Manager? Feckless. I’m sorry is all I and the other FIFTEEN guests waiting for our cats got. Oh and they forgot to give us our breakfast voucher at check in - so naturally we had to go retrieve one.

We went for NYE. We were on 12th floor, great view. Room was NICE AND BIG- like in the 80s or 90s. If you go- bring paper plates, paper towels, and in room snacks. but.... NO ICE machines working in the building, on ANY of 20 floors, on NYE. Room was 77F when we arrived at 6pm. Engineering adjusted the HVAC. After running for 16 hours, it was 72. Paid extra for included breakfast. There was no breakfast as kitchen closed NY Day. Bed was lumpy, had some kind of mattress pad on it. Sheets meh. No soap dish. Whole place feels really outdated and needs a refresh. I am contacting Marriot about the experiexe not bc im a karen but bc i was really hungry this morning!

Given that my expectations of The Plaza Hotel were quite high, I was very surprised at the state of the room I was given. The phone did not work, the refrigerator placed in the room did not work, the towel bar fell off the wall after barely touching it and the air conditioning unit was not responsive to any adjustments (but thankfully it did work). Also, it seemed like only one of the four elevators was working all weekend, leading to a very slow descent on checkout day. On the plus side, the location was great, along with the view, and it was very handy to have the $17 per day self serve parking connected to the hotel.

Old, outdated, not worth the cost they charge for room a night, not gross dirty but not clean. Did not have hot water for the shower Sunday morning. Staff was nice however.

There are very few restaurants near by. The cleanliness needed some work as there were hairs and dental floss on the floor of our bathroom. There was hardly anyone else staying there which was a strange experience in such a large hotel. No bottled water provided in the room. No tea provided. Check in was not good. When I asked about breakfast/restaurant I was told to read the sign. She also didn’t offer any extras as we are Marriott members. She looked as though she had slept in her clothes.

This property needs some serious attention. Room needed a deep clean. Not certain how you miss splatter of food and whatever else on walls. The beds (mattress and bed skirt) were filthy. Instead of getting new ones or deep cleaning, there is a plastic thick blue cover that is used as a “‘mattress pad”. It does neither to cover the mattress nor pad it. Food particles on the floor as it was clear the vacuum made a straight shot down the center of the hotel room. For the condition of the room and the price they charge we will not be staying here again.

Good location. Very friendly staff. We arrived on a hot summer day and room was 80 degrees. Maintenance came right away and claimed they fixed it, but room remained very hot. Staff was very accommodating to help us move rooms, but the second room was not much better. The entire facility is very outdated and the rooms are not the cleanest. Rooms smelled stale and stuffy like they had been closed up for a long time. Furnishings and carpet are very outdated and not super clean. We picked it because it is cheap and now we know why. We will not likely go back.

Just across the street from the State House, safe, nice lobby. I would have given 4 stars, if not for the moldy shower and dirty floor.

The front desk staff was truly helpful when I arrived and had misbooked on the website. The experience was positive. The hotel itself was very nice and clean.

My issues began when I first walked into my first room. The dresser that had the TV on it, was pulled out from the wall, like someone had been working on it. Also, the TV did not actually work at all. There was also no desk chair at for the desk. I was there on a work trip and had to sit on a bench to work. Eventually the staff helped by giving me a new room that had a working TV and desk chair. Aside from that, the rooms and everything in them was old, outdated, weathered and not inviting. There were mismatched painted sections of the wall that was very off-putting and also made the rooms feel dirty and dingy. My blinds wouldn't full open due to out of place and extra long screws that were rigged up to hold them to the tracks. Overall it was a very unpleasant stay. The staff was very friendly though.

The Sheraton Columbus Hotel at Capitol Square was very clean and well maintained. The staff took care of our needs very seamlessly. The restaurant in the Hotel was satisfactory. Our son joined us for the last night of the stay so they provided us with a king size room the first three nights then moved us to a double for the last night of the stay which was very convenient. Both rooms were very well appointed.

Very disappointed. The room had no heat, the shower took awhile to get hot water, mold in the bathroom, and the cold air blew all night causing the windows to have percipitation. The smell in the room was almost unbearable. They were able to change us to another room , wasn’t much better, but did have heat.

Parking isn’t great, overnight valet price of 40$, rooms are FILTHY, not up to marriott properties, hotel is beautiful though and is right in the middle of the city, walkable distance to a lot of properties.

I liked the classic decor and big room. I liked the location, valet parking option, and Starbucks on the first floor.

It’s was just okay, for the price you pay you would think the room would have a fridge and microwave but it doesn’t. The rooms are pretty dated could use some updates. Bed was comfy. Window was dirty. The restaurant was boring. The front desk made me show proof of my breakfast add on which was a little inconvenient I would think that would be on file. I suppose I paid for the convenience of being close to the theatre to stay here. Also the air conditioning barely works. Room was not very comfortable.

The room was nice as were the staff, but the AC in our room worked very poorly. It was set at 65 but it didn’t get cooler than 84 degrees.

Ac didn’t work for 1 day. A bit un comfortable . Room were dated. A bit musty smell. Had cold water for one day for showers.

Showed up early & was lucky enough to check in early! Room had a great view, but the TV didn’t work and my side of the bed was missing a bulb in the lamp, but I was only there for one night so I didn’t mind. Very comfortable pillows and bed!

Quickest check-in ever at a hotel. Quick glance at my ID snd here's your keys. That was it. Room was nice and spacious with a mini kitchenette. However, the HVAC system was quite loud and despite turning up the heat was cold, the fridge ran, and there was a lot of light coming from various places which made sleeping well difficult.

My stay fell well short of expectations, both in terms of my booking, and the standard of a Sheraton. Specifically - WIFI was down for the entire stay (supposed to be included) - on arrival, our room was extremely hot (over 80 degrees). We could not adjust through thermostat and had to initiate a service request - for the first night, there was no cold running water - The window was leaking, with water pooling on the heater - 2 of the pillow cases and one of the comforters were soiled I have travelled extensively in my life, staying 100's of nights at Sheraton / Westin / Starwood / Marriot properties over the years and have to say this is the worst experience I have had. I have tried to contact the manager at the hotel, but have received no response. Very disappointed.

I stayed at The Plaza Hotel Columbus at Capitol Square for 6 nights in February to March 2025. Friendly, efficient front desk staff. Room was clean and spacious had mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Multiple plugs and charging ports all around the room for you convenience. Just a short Uber away from most places you'd need to reach including just 15 minutes from the airport. The only negative with my room was a noisy heater which would kick in every few minutes to maintain my room temperature.

Staff was rude and not helpful at all They put us in multiple rooms and each room had no AC so after the third one I left and had to get another hotel room somewhere else with AC Which cost me even more money I won’t get back and I do want a refund working on that with Expedia at the moment and the rooms are not luxury at all tiles falling off on the ground and not cleaned very well at all. The restaurant there did have a good burger though I’ll atleast give them that much.

We were given keys to an already occupied room at 1am, they wouldnt honor the price we were quoted on Expedia. No one sat us for breakfast for over 20 minutes so we left to get our car and was given keys to someone else's car!!!!! Please remove from Expedia!!!

Security (not in uniform)attempted to access my room at 12:55am using a key card. They were stopped by the security latch. When I confronted them they claimed the room was supposed to be empty and asked my name. I refused to give it. I immediately called the front desk to express my concerns. They called security and he claimed the door was open (untrue). I told the front desk I felt unsafe and requested a call from management and provided my cell number at that time (which they already had but just in case). It’s been a week and no communication at all. No adjustment to my fees. Horrific customer service. If a single female is awakened by a staff member (again, not in uniform) and tells you that she feels unsafe you would think there would be some attempt to communicate with me. Ladies - do not stay there!

My wife and I were in town for a Columbus Crew game and wanted a location that was conveniently located in close proximity to the stadium. Upon arrival, the valet was friendly and informative and the front desk attendant let us know that pour room was ready early which greatly helped in getting to the game on time. The room itself was clean, spacious and comfortable. We had breakfast there the next morning and found the waitress very friendly and pleasant. The meal itself was done well. If I had one disappointment, it was that the room did not have a refrigerator which would have been helpful considering that we had leftovers from dinner. Other than that, I would definitely stay at this location again when in town.

Good location right in front of the capitol building. There is a Starbucks inside.

Check in was a breeze - parking so easy. Just a few feet away from the Ohio Theatre - just perfect.

The hotel is right next to the Ohio Theater, which was our main consideration for booking.

This is a great hotel to stay in while in Columbus. The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. Very well located if you are going to the Ohio Theatre or the Ohio Statehouse. Would stay here again.

It was a nice hotel room. Nice location. Very Nice staff at check in desk. Some homeless hanging around the courtyard area but nothing crazy. I will return.

Great location to visit the state capitol of Ohio. Walking distance to the state house and the Riffe building where the legislators have their offices. The rooms are large, comfortable, clean and well appointed. The front desk staff were pleasant, professional, and very good at their jobs. I booked this stay for myself and several of my colleagues. Everyone was quite pleased. We will be returning soon.

Breakfast was great. We had a voucher for the dining room. The room was clean but dated. The bathroom door would stick if you closed it all the way and my daughter had to push from the outside to open it. I like to have a fridge in the room but it isn’t a deal breaker. Only Ice Machine is on the 9th floor.

Overall a good experience. The view from our room of the statehouse was priceless! The room was great and the location of the hotel was super because it put us at a 5 minute walk to Red,White and Boom. One strange thing was we had no cold water in our room. Even the toilet had hot water. In fact it was so hot the tank on the toilet was hot. Not a huge problem, just odd. Overall the service was great but not sure the breakfast buffet was worth $21.00 per person.

This stay was a surprise for my husband when i bought tickets to the Neil Diamond musical 'A Beautiful Noise'. The check in was uneventful and smooth. It took a little longer than it probably should only because the only front desk associate, Tabitha, was handling a line of people by herself. But she rocked it out like it was nothing! The hotel was very clean. We booked a corner room with a city view. The room was very clean and comfortable. The view from the room was very pretty, especially at night. No refrigerator, microwave, or iron. I forgot my hair dryer and tried to use the one in the room but it didn't work. We tried to have dinner at the restaurant but didn't stay. We were seated by a lady that seemed to be cleaning a part of the dining area. She also brought us menus and water. We eventually left and went to a different restaurant after waiting 10 minutes for a server. Overall, we would stay here again just based on the proximity to the Ohio Theater and the service outside of the resaurant.

Critical staff shortage meant no breakfast was available. Front desk was under-informed about the "extras" in my reservation. The room was clean and comfortable. Valet parking a breeze if lacking sufficient signage. At this rate, staff should be better trained and supervised, and the overall experience should be better.

Stay was great, room was large, bed was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good (they ran out of things but resolved in a quick manner). Valet parking was worth it and Valet guys professional and helpful. Will stay again.

The hotel was run down, in need of repair and updating. The food in the restaurant was good, but the ambiance was that of an abandoned dining hall. There was no hot water in the bathroom sink in the room.
