Marriott was a wonderful spot for our stay in Newport! Central to all the activities - restaurants and bars — shopping etc. Across from the ballpark was fun!! Took in a Gulls game too. Amenities were wonderful - new outside area next to indoor salt water pool was perfect.

Nice location. Staff was friendly. Did nit like that I had to use valet for my car which was $40 a day. On top of the room rate which was on the high side they charge a fee for amenities which us outrageous

The hotel is a typical Marriot, very nicely decorated with good service. The location was absolutely perfect with harbor views and within walking distance to shops and restaurants in the downtown area. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel is dog friendly and I was concerned because as we got to our door a loudly barking dog could be heard from an adjacent room, but once inside the room, little noise could be heard. It I hadn’t realized that there would be a $30 “resort fee” and $30 to valet park, but I guess that’s pretty typical. I would stay here again.

Definitely recommend the inside balcony rooms, especially during the colder months. It was so great having a place to chill and drink wine. Unless you valet, there is free parking, just couldn't figure out a good way to get into the hotel without walking around the building. Did not get a chance to check out the food, but the spa was top-notch. We had a great girls weekend!

The location is excellent, however the first room we were given looked out upon the elevator lobby. Kudos to the front desk staff for finding a better room for us. The website said there was a pool & hot tub (the main reason we chose this hotel), however we discovered the hot tub or "whirlpool" has been out of service for nearly a year! For the price we paid I don't believe it was worth it.

Not worth the money - resort fee and parking on top of everything. Also, they pipe in awful music throughout the hotel and at the pool, gave us headaches. Will stay somewhere else next time. Staff was very nice however.

This hotel is beautiful and very clean, beautifully decorated and the restaurant options were amazing. However, the staff at the front desk were a bit rude and weren’t incredibly helpful. Valets and restaurants staff were amazing though!

We could not check in because our room was not ready. waited 2 hours and then they had to change our room and to a room not what we paid for - room w a partial view and the sheets smelled bad - asked them to be changed and they were not - we were there for 2 nights not sure I will go back to this hotel again.

Major disappointment. Rooms were like prison cells. Small. Claustrophobic. You could hear what was going on in all the adjacent rooms. Let’s face it. This place may be good for a business stay but that’s about it. I wouldn’t recommend spending more than 1 night.

The room was very small with a inner facing patio that added nothing to the room. The room was much like a cruise ship cabin. It was very dark in the room even with all the lights on, the bathroom lighting was very poor also. The food at the bar for lunch was very good, but the restaurant for breakfast was terrible. The bed as not uncomfortable, but not actually comfortable either. The location was central to all we needed to do. For somethings the staff was helpful, but for others they did not want to be bothered.

We waited over 45 minutes for a simple breakfast. Our two small grandkids couldn’t wait anymore so we had to leave without food. There was no apology or acknowledgment by staff about the bad service and we were charged $15 for a milk, orange juice and soda. Not sure if we would stay here again.

I will rate the Valet Staff as EXCELLENT. The room was clean and comfortable. The front desk experience was VERY POOR. The middle aged women (wearing a mask) who signed me in was NOT hospitable. I felt like I was putting her out. She was not friendly or kind at all. Why, oh why, are the front doos to a $1000/night hotel not automatic..?? TWICE we had to hold the doors for a women pushing her husband in a wheelchair...STAFF...?? Yes, I know you have a small "wheelchair entry" push tab, by law. But really??? I am 70 years old and had trouble getting out and in with my bags. Not staying here again...not recommending, either.

As a Platinum Marriott member I am really disappointed. This hotel continually preys on summer crowds. The wait to check in is always 15-20 mins. They wouldn’t give me my Marriott points. They tacked on fees that were not explained up front. Again, I am on the road all the time in the NE. I religiously stay at Marriotts as I am a member and the product is usually great. I will never stay here again. This was my 7 th stay here. Awful.

The location of the property was great and the valet was a nice added touch. I found the concierge to lack interpersonal skills, especially for a client facing role. The one reason I would not return to this hotel is because I left a pair of Lululemon leggings and sweatshirt in the bathroom of my hotel room. Sophie, the concierge, really offered no help other than to go to ileftmystuff.com. I filled out the form 2 days ago and have not heard back. When I called concierge I was met with Sophie again and all she had to say it could take a few days. I really hope I get my clothing items back as they were gifts and I feel awful for leaving them behind. If not, I hope some staff member is enjoying a brand new outfit. Nice hotel, but don't leave your belongings because you will likely never see then again.

Room overlooked atrium which is nice. Clean and nice looking property. Staff helpful. Pillows were too hard. My 8 year old grandson said the same thing about the pillows. Disappointed that the Mainsail dining room was not open for dinner. Most hotels I’ve stayed in have information in the room as to what amenities are available, I.e. restaurants, bars, and their hours. There was no info in our room. Check-in and check-out quick and easy.

overall good and would return, room service food was cold first night though and when I called the following day (instead of promptly the same night), they would not refund two cold clam chowders. Lame. Otherwise, good stay.

Great place with 3-5 minute walks to nice restaurants. Was surprised with the extra 30 fee because they are a “destination” even though they offer it back in credit on site it doesn’t end up saving you. Food WAY over priced. Starbucks closes too early for you to get a drink there mid day.

Great location! Walkable to the wharf, with many shops, restaurants, and charter boats nearby. Hotel was clean, restaurants and bar on site. The Plank cafe was slow in a.m. for coffee & food; they needed 2 people working there. We also had a few issues getting our car from valet (couldn’t find keys, couldn’t find car, etc)

LIked almost everything, including water view room and king bed. Breakfasts were very good. Baked items at the Skiff Bar were also excellent. Only didn't like was area by pool much too warm and humid so didn't bother getting out my bathing suit.

The terraces are indoor terraces facing the atrium. There are plenty of nooks and crannies to park yourself in and outside the property. You are right across from the water, and can walk to everything. "Main" restaurant did not serve dinner, only "bar" restaurant. Downside: stairs on both sides to get into lobby from street. Desk chair in room weighed a ton. One cabinet door was falling off hinge. A required daily resort fee was ludicrous and paid for nothing. Little natural light in room.
