Catalytic converter was stolen from our car while parked in hotel parking lot right next to the building. No security cameras of the area and the staff didn't care. Park overnight there at your own risk, not a good area to feel safe.

My biggest issue here is there are 3 different BW in the airport area and one shuttle came by a couple of times still waiting for the right BW shuttle. And to have to smell all the exhaust and fuel fumes while waiting. The shuttle is only 10 minutes away, it took ger 45 minutes to arrive. Go figure!!

I didn’t like how they had a $200.00 dollar deposit like that was very excessive. They do give you the option to hold the deposit on your card BUT who wants to do that right? The other option is leaving a cash deposit that you’ll get back the next day when you check out of course BUT they don’t have a ATM so you’ll have to go next door to the atm if you choose to go that route. Also the front doors to the hotel are locked 24/7 so you’ll have to ring the doorbell until your checked in then you can use your key . Other then that and outdated rooms the hotel is nice and comfortable . The outside pool is the main reason we stayed .

All staff was super helpful and kind. Breakfast was enjoyed by all. Super comfortable beds. Pool and hot tub were so awesome and we had them to ourselves both times we used them.

Staff is great. Property conveniently located across from gas station, next to restaurant and situated close to freeway. However lots of trash around property the exterior lights is insufficient parking was very dark. First, that came to mind was safety. However the doors to facility is locked added additional safety measures. Need hotel key for entry. No security on-site to patrol guest vehicles or property enhanced measures due to the influx of transitional residents around facility.

This was not at all as expected. The room was dirty, and including several things that didn’t work properly. The floor had a huge sticky spot that we blocked off to avoid walking on. The A/C rattled so loud that even with ear plugs we could not sleep. The fridge spoiled all of our food as it didn’t keep things cold. There was a large amount of black mold in the corner of the bathroom by the tub. The toilet was filthy and disgusting. The worst part of all was that I booked this so my kids would be occupied and have fun using the pool and hot tub. Since the weather was cold they got their swimming suits on and got into the the hot tub just to find out it was freezing cold. No one told us, there were no signs posted anywhere. After this they were freezing and all we got from the front desk was, “ Sorry we haven’t had it fixed yet”. As we were packing up to leave my husband went outside to bring some luggage to the car and saw a woman (sorry to be blunt here but she was a hooker) wearing nothing but a thong and jacket. I’m so thankful my kids weren’t out there to see this sight. I used to think best western’s were all held to a higher standard but clearly they are not!

This is a very nice hotel. The surrounding area was a bit unsafe, but the hotel took needed precautions. The spa heater was not working at the time of our visit, but everything else was just right!

The first room we were given smelled like stale cigarettes and this is a nonsmoking property. Talked to woman at front desk and she offered me an upgrade.... for $15. Declined uograde got a room that didnt smell gross. Bathroom sink doesnt drain. Lock on bathroom door broken. Fabric shower curtain has mildew stains.

This hotel was very clean. The bed was really comfortable. The staff was very friendly and pleasant to work with. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. There were a lot of good food options and beverages to choose from. I would definitely stay here again.

Secure property and very good front desk staff. The morning breakfast is superb. However the room was not well cleaned when arrived. There were long dark women\'s hairs in the bathtub and the bathroom floor was not cleaned well and dirty. The floor of the unit had scraps of paper. It looked like someone did a quick job straighten the unit up before my arrival, but not really cleaned. They did not clean my unit while I was there despite putting out the "please clean unit" sign on the door around 9:30 AM. I told the front desk when I returned that evening. The front desk apologized and gave me towels. There were some black bugs crawling around the walls and floor that I killed. Even the would do a better job of cleaning and get rid of the bugs, the facility is otherwise fine.

The room was extremely dirty, there were stains around the on the surface of the toilet, the baseboard of the wall was dusty. The toiletries that were given were used such as the lotion and shampoo. The carpet was dirty and dusty in the corners along the wall. The bathroom floors were not clean around the corners of the wall. Based off the cleanliness of the room we refused to eat the breakfast offered. I will say staff was incredibly kind, professional and hospital!

Room was clean however the AC wasn’t working in the room. We got the last room at the hotel so just dealt with it. outside our window was an old RV park and a fence with bob wire on the top…. Guessing to keep those from the RV park from coming over the fence. Other than that it was very quite and the hotel had a good breakfast. Pool area was clean and nice.

Clean, nice older property. The free breakfast was better than many. The main doors are locked at all hours, you have to buzz to get in or use your key card if you are already checked in. Probably due to the street people around. But that's everywhere. You DO NOT WANT A STREET SIDE ROOM. There are many lights and some traffic on Sandy Blvd. The hotel has drapes that wont shut! So you can't block the light and sound!

Terrible check in experience. We had a delay at an airline for 3 hours and we were tired. We went to check in and the agent charged my credit card 200 extra dollars as a deposit. She was very slow and was not professional as the face of Best Western. I was questioning the charge and she said "hotels have been doing this for years, decades, and even generations." Why was this the first time I heard of this? I understand keeping the card for incidentals. I think she is confused about the difference. normally I would not say anything and they would lose a customer but I want to save a future customer the hassle. Everything else was good.

The check in was very unpleasant. The two people who were handling check in were arguing about another guest and didn’t give us the time of day. We asked how to get to the airport and without even looking up one of them said, “second exit”…..In that we are not from Portland, just where might that second exit be? I am glad we only stayed for one night.

Amy and the front desk staff are always amazing. Though the food is not the best, it is good and convenient to eat there. The convenience (next to the airport) and friendliness of the staff, affordability, and cleanliness of the rooms/area make this the best place to stay in Portland area. Thank you once again Pony Soldier for knocking it out of the park. We have been coming here for over 10 years and will keep doing so.

I am a lifetime Portland resident. Unfortunately the deterioration of the suburban neighborhood surrounding the BW Pony Soldier is a dirty, sad, unsafe after dark, stark example of Portlands downward spiral. In retrospect, I would gladly pay the extra $30 to stay near Cascade Station and stay away from this neighborhood.

Check-in was not very informative. Since I had prepaid, all the desk agent did was give me a key and, after I asked, told me where the room was located. There was no mention of breakfast service or pool or gym? I stumbled upon breakfast in the am when I was about to go out for breakfast. The location of the hotel was good for my needs but it is in a very sketchy neighborhood. I was outside for less than 10 minutes and had several prostitutes walk by. I'm pretty sure they were prostitutes as one had NOTHING but an unbuttoned jacket on. The view out window was of several homeless tents and the freeway entrance.

Very convenient for airport but, like many areas on west coast now, unsafe because of the amount of homeless population. Doors were locked hours before dark. Clerk had to let us in and then come over everytime someone approached the door. Went to Shell station next door and witnessed clerk harassed by two 'customers' in a row trying to get away with items without paying. Sad state of affairs.

We stay at this hotel every time we visit family in Portland. We choose this hotel partly because it includes breakfast. On our last morning we were informed that the breakfast room was closed because they had no one to run it. There really should be a back up plan for that. We were in a hurry and that threw off our entire schedule. Only after we asked about a compensation did we receive a $20 credit

The front door was locked and you needed a room key to get in, which I obviously didn’t have since I was trying to check in. There was a doorbell and staff finally let me in, but it was bothersome. Ran out of everything on the breakfast buffet, even coffee.

Property is cheap and close to airport. Breakfast was okay - not as good as Best Western Plus hotels, room was okay with okay sheets - not top quality. Coffee in room was good and shower was powerful and hot. It is a good place to spend a night and not longer. The area around the hotel doesn[t look too promising - the fact that the hotel locks the front door at 10 PM
