Courtyard by Marriott Portland North

This is a hidden gem! Such attentive service. Best hotel breakfast we have ever had (get the breakfast burrito!) and really pretty river view. Has a nice walking path along the river and the fire pit is going all day.

I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott Portland North for one night, hoping to relax and enjoy some time in the pool and hot tub with my partner. Unfortunately, our experience was far from pleasant. When we got to the pool, there was a terrible smell, and it was clear that either someone had thrown up or worse, pooped in the pool. It was disgusting, and we couldn’t even get in. We ended up having to leave immediately and take a shower to wash off the unpleasantness. I understand that accidents happen, but this was a significant letdown, especially for a Marriott property. Very disappointing and not what we expected from a place like this.

Parking garage is a bit small. Very easy to have vehicles either door dinged or scraped from it being so close quarters.

Gym was pretty basic but enough to get a decent wkout in the door to the gym doesn’t work and you have to access through the pool but all good….over all a good experience

Hotel was very clean. Nice staff. Parking was very secure.

This hotel we have been using for over 5 years for the annual car swap meet event. This year the pool was super cold and the hot tub was dirty looking. Like the water was greenish. The room over all was great the sheets and the beds were clean and well maintained. The service at the bar lacked in attention during the most busiest time they had the poor employee running around like a chicken with his head cut off. I felt really bad. The food was great we had chicken wings and pepperoni flatbread. Since we had our kids and their main priority was the pool and food we will be looking elsewhere to stay. So sad because we loved it here!

The hotel was nice and clean. The view from our room was good. Had a good view of the water and Jansen beach marina. Nice clean pool and hot tub. The courtyard was a nice place to relax after a day of activities. The front desk so kind to store some ice cream in there freezer overnight.

I was surprised the parking garage was in the basement. But i have an SUV and the parking spaces were not wide enough and there was not enough spaces for the hotel size. I like that it’s hidden but there is a lot of cars parked outside. Its an accident waiting to happen. My compliments to the chef. He toasted my breakfast burrito perfectly amazing and without me asking for it!!! The room, pool, hot tube, outdoor seating area are amazing on the riverfront. I would definitely go again.

Cleanliness, great beds, nice comfy bedding.. Staff great. Pool not open that was the bummer. Best thing we looked forward to indoor closed for season. Weird.

Parking under the hotel is extremely tight and horrible. Those parking spots are for tiniest cars.

Everything was very clean in my room except the carpet smelled like feet

Needs work on the cleanliness of the bathrooms. Mold and hair in the shower and the whirllpool was very moldy

Front desk was awesome and left us check in early . Our balcony connected to two other rooms with no barrier . The bathtub was either stained brown or was dirty. Room 211. The room was remodeled . The bed was hard like a rock . The couch was nice . Dinner at the bistro was good ! Our waitress was fabulous. We went back for breakfast. I’m not sure what happened. I ordered a coffee. They forgot me . A baseball team was there . Only two staff . They seemed confused if they were just making coffee or the bistro was opened . No menus were provided. They seemed overwhelmed and confused.

The staff was wonderful and the hotel was very clean

Upon arrival there was stains on the chair and when trying to cover the chair with one of the bed sheets there was ALSO a stain on the bed sheet. Unfortunately staff could only give us breakfast coupons and only had options for a downgraded room. Then, upon further use of the room, it turns out the fan in the bathroom was also broken! We had to get maintenance the next day. Another thing to look forward to was we could hear the neighbors as if they were in our room, THIN WALLS. And the cherry on top was as we were walking in with our child, a grown man came out TO THE HALL in his underwear taking a phone call…safe to say we regret staying here and have never seen such a run down Marriott.

Room was fine-clean, no smell, good water pressure, service was great. Only downside the area is very noisy at night, and the sugar ants on the bathroom floor and the kitchenette configuration was awkward not worked

All the employees were so nice and caring! Rooms were extremely clean. Great experience!

the room had alot of garbage in it bottle caps popcorn tissue and we found PILLS behind the night stand, thank god we found them before our toddler, other the that the property was beautiful pool and hot tib were wonderfull Juan who helped us check in was great. felt like a safe area would absolutely stay again

Bed was very comfortable and room was clean. Even though the hotel seemed to be full of golfers, the atmosphere was very quiet. It would be nice to have complimentary tea and coffee in the reception area as in other Marriott Courtyard hotels that we have stayed in. The only tea pods available were green tea, but black tea would have been nice.

My husband, daughter and I were traveling back home and stayed one night because we know courtyard by Marriott from past trips. We are so happy we stayed at this hotel. My husband is disabled and they allowed us to check in early, we got a room on the top floor with a balcony and a beautiful view. We will be staying here again for sure. We loved the gated garage as well. Parking $15 but worth it.

Check-in was easy. Room was in good shape and clean. It was the closest room to the elevator and the bar, all night people talking, early in the morning you heard the people at the elevator. They have a 'Bistro'. Which is a privately run but branded Starbucks. Their printed paper menu at the counter gives 4 options under a bullet point. * Muffin, banana yogurt * Breakfast sandwich * Oatmeal * 4th one I can't remember 2 employees. 1 of them was helpful and trying her best, the 2nd one was arguing with the 1st and full of drama. After they got thru their spat, we were able to order the first bullet point thinking you got all the items listed. They took a while to bring it to our table and it was only the muffin. I went back to the counter and she said we had to choose (muffin or banana or yogurt). When I asked to have her add a banana she did so without charging me extra. We also ordered 2 drinks...16 oz mochas. 5 minutes after our muffin had arrived I saw other customers getting their coffee but where was ours? I inquired and drama girl asked what our order was. Then she made it and instead of bringing it to our table tried to slide it across the bar. Spilling it. Then remade it again. Coffee after we were finished eating. Plus the it slowed down our morning. 45 minutes instead of 20. Bah! Not the end of the world but not awesome.

Unfortunately as a Hilton girly I'm used to breakfast but they just had a small cafe kind of thing also my shower doors weren't closing properly but overall it was decent quiet located well and friendly staff

We had an accessibility room and by the time we settled we realized the shower had no curtain. I didn’t know if this was standard but water went everywhere. I was too tired to care, unfortunately when we were watching a movie the screen would randomly black out. I put fruit in the fridge and when I went to retrieve it, it was frozen. Also our neighbors above us were having a marching parade because I could hear every footstep. I will say it was a very clean and the staff were very friendly.

Property was as expected. The lights in the bathroom were motion detected and kept going off every few minutes when trying to take a shower, which was annoying. Didn’t seem the cleanliest- some dirt marks on the couch, windows looking out were not clear. Walls are very thin, and could hear conversations of the people next door. Parking is $10/night. Parking lot is small and crammed if you have a midsize vehicle. There were people smoking weed in the garage on several nights.

I can say enough about thebquality of service provided here! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with kindest and most helpful checkin by Colleen! But, I have to say that EVERY one that works there, from the housekeepers, to the maintenenace man, to the Bistro worker and chef....they were all top notch employees! Thank you all for your help and kindness!

Overall, we got a good deal on the room and were pleased with the our stay; however, we did experience some problems. - We paid the $8 to add on breakfast but it was difficult to confirm the purchase. The $8 fee isn’t included on the receipt. The front desk didn’t confirm at check in so we could obtain our breakfast vouchers. -Guests are required to pay for parking but this is not advertised. -Parking is horrendous. Parking spaces are VERY small. - Night staff did not have a good handle on guests when inconvenienced. One overnight front desk staff person was very rude, allowed people to jump ahead of others in the long line and was not willing to help. -When the key cards stoped working, none of the other staff offered to help. We seen staff sitting around on their phones. - the hotel overall was very clean, rooms were nice and the Bistro day staff were amazing!

We were in town for a volleyball tournament and the hotel also hosted a wedding, so it was very busy. They only had one person available for checking in and handling any customer service. The person had to leave a few times, because the key cards were not working properly. We had to return a few times, because our cards were not working to let us in our room. The person at the desk has overwhelmed one of the times and threw his walkie-talkie when I asked for help. The best were fine and the room temp was adjustable. The second night there was a group in another room up around 3am who we could hear so much it woke us up. The kids loved the pool room, which was very warm. I’d probably stay somewhere else next time. They need to staff up more if it’s busy.

Staff was slow. There was no front desk staff at all from time to time. Restaurant staff are excellent.

We checked in, walked up to our non smoking room and it stank of cigarettes, was very outdated and dirty (stains on the couch, carpet, etc). We went down and requested a new room from the staff and they obliged moving us to a new room which did not smell of cigarettes which was good. Then upon checking out I checked my credit card statement and found they had charged me over $500 in various invoices even though I paid in full prior to arriving to the hotel. I called them the day after leaving and requested a refund. They said they’d look into it and call me back or send an email. They never called or emailed so I had to call ever single day for a week to try and get to the bottom of the charges. Very frustrating experience to deal with a company supposed to be focused on customer service and hospitality.

My only complaint was upon check-in. I had remind the person that I had a car. They told me park in the garage with no directions as to were it was. FYI it was below the hotel and they didn’t tell me about the amenities they just gave me a paper to read. For most people these things wouldn’t matter but sometimes it’s the little things. Still really liked the Property and if ever there will definitely stay again!!

When I arrived the front desk was very pleasant to my co-worker and as it was my turn to be assisted, they were short, rude did not ask the same questions about any needs. I asked about a billing question and they stated "because you booked through Expedia, we cannot assist you." Then when I called regarding the fan in the room was very loud and would not turn off, they only provided me with moving me (at 10 pm) to the 1st floor close to the front which they acknowledged that it would possibly be noisier. They lacked any apology and verbally scoffed while I was on the phone regarding this issue. Though the room was nice, the rest of the hotel was very dissapointing.

What I disliked the most was how rude all but one employee was. The housekeeper was lovely. All of the receptionists were rude, some not even bothering with eye contact. Rude tones. Rude comments. Defensiveness. I can't think of a time I was treated with so little (as in ZERO) courtesy and positive customer service. The room was fine. Clean enough, though there were hairs on the walls of the shower. I'm guessing part of that is because the shower heads are old and affixed in place. Hard to spray down the walls - or the body - with style of shower head. The second most egregious issue was that I specifically paid for breakfast to be included and the "receptionist" at the time said we didn't. It was a lie and cost me money. The blessing was that we went somewhere else for breakfast and never looked back at the dingy dump that is this hotel. So disappointing for a Marriott property. I will definitely rethink my attitude towards Marriott. No automatic positive regard anymore. Dump. Do not stay here unless you absolutely cannot afford something better.

My room was clean and comfortable. Courtyard has a nice view of the river. Conveniently located close to freeway. Indoor garage parking was great. It was nice to have a fitness center, swimming pool and hot tub.

Loved our stay at this Marriott. A bit far from the city center, but convenient to the race tracks. Will definitely stay there again.

Beautiful view, friendly staff. Good food on site but just 1 restaurant within walking distance otherwise. Property’s highlight is the patio and fireplace, rooms were clean and bed was comfortable. Weird detail but the sink in the room had a facet that barely stuck out so it was impossible to wash your hands without water getting on the back counter. Not a big deal, just an odd (and memorable) choice.

Lovely hotel. Nice being by the river. Weird location otherwise.

Convenient to North Portland and I5. Staff is very friendly. Hotel restaurant is very good. Quiet rooms. Fitness center, pool and hot tub. I will always stay here when returning to North Portland.

It was in a good location, close to downtown but away from any issues.

Over all nice room, just in a sketchy neighborhood.

This is my 3rd stay at this hotel. I like the parking security with no extra charge, the view, and the comfortable rooms. I would recommend paying the little extra for breakfast because it was worth it! It’s cook to order. I’m sure I’ll be back for a 4th time soon

Nice property. We’ve stayed here several times. It’s near freeway and airport so a bit noisy. Breakfast used to be included but no longer. Had a dinner that was quite good. Secure parking garage. Would stay again.

Front desk clerk was poorly trained. Never received a key for our room because the system was down and he did not inform the next clerk about the problem. Never received breakfast coupons at check in. Restaurant was not operating when we arrived as it was advertised in the write up on Expedia. Very disappointed and frustrated!

This hotel is nice and very well kept. All of the staff we encountered were helpful and pleasant. We wanted to stay here because of the restaurant and bar on site along with the indoor hot tub and pool. The bistro had very good food, and the drinks were delicious as well, afterwards we jumped in the Jacuzzi before settling in for the night. Our room had great views of the Columbia river, so if you can request a river view room, I highly encourage it! The room was very clean and everything wasn’t working order, nice and spacious.

I didn’t like that the bathroom tub walls weren’t clean and I didn’t appreciate the morning cafe employee lacking customer service skills. Our room was provided a complimentary breakfast due to the bathroom and because we didn’t have two he wanted me to take care of obtaining a second to accommodate my second guest. It was communicated to him that there was two of us and it’s not my job to know we should’ve received two. So instead of him saying no problem let me take care of this for you, he made me go to the front desk. We were tight on time and simply should’ve received better service than this. Even after asking that a maid come clean the tub, it was never done. So this will be the one and only time I’ll be staying at this courtyard by Marriott. Disappointed!

I came up for thanksgiving to see my family, overall the stay was amazing. There was one staff member in the bistro that didn’t really care to be of service and told us it was closed because of holiday hours,(mind you it was regular hours on thanksgiving and he said this the day after) but other than that it was a great stay we will be coming back!:)
