It was a very nice hotel with lots of different shopping places near by. Very close to the waterfront. The only thing I can complain about is the elevators in this hotel. For the amount of people staying here theae elevators are very slow. There was one of them out of order or something. It was not being used.

Down town is sketchy so I would use the valet parking because it is secure. It can be a bit of a wait for your car so make sure you call down for it before leaving. The breakfast area is huge so makes it convenient for large families or people with strollers. They also offer 2 free drinks for each adult from 5-7 in the same area as well as finger food snacks, simple nachos, veggies and ranch etc. the soda machine is also available if you have kids during that time. Pool/hot tub/sauna are all awesome.

They charged too much for parking and the happy hour area is in the dark basement, which is depressing. Being a brand name hotel they can make more of an effort to cheer things up. The pool and sauna were impossible to enjoy with all the screaming children at night and during the day. Maybe they could have a certain curfew for children say after 9 PM?

We had a wonderful stay, great breakfast every day, very nice staff. However, one of the elevators was out of order the entire 5 day stay, which made it difficult for getting to & from room. I could not do stairs due to broken ankle, so just had allot extra time.

On arrival to our room the front desk was contacted as the garbage was not cleared from the room and a luggage rack was requested. The garbage was cleared out and towels were left in the room (which were not requested or needed) a second request for the luggage rack was made. Used Towels were removed from the room however the bath mat was removed but not replaced. Handtowels were not replaced either. Breakfast meals were very good.

Linens need updated, they charge for Wifi, cleaning details overlooked (used bar of soap left in the shower, stains on sheets) The location worked for our plans but I wouldn’t book again. It has a neat history and lots of potential but needs some more care to be worth the money to stay.

Our room was large but not cleaned properly. Beer cans left in our room from previous guests as well as a very nasty smell. The pool is nice but has stains like it hasn’t been cleaned since the 60’s. Valet employees don’t offer any assistance even though you’re paying $60 a day for parking, other options are just not safe nearby as the city has been taken over by the homeless and so you’re forced to pay the valet fee and then the valet employees are literal duds. They don’t have any personality or even show a bit of effort to go get the car quickly while you’re standing in the rain with your family waiting for your car. It makes it hard to want to tip them when you can tell they hate their jobs.

The location, hotel itself, staff and the breakfast were great. The room cleanliness wasn’t great. There was slimy mildew around the tub and the bathroom sink which means it hasn’t been cleaned in a while, and the shower curtain had mold on it. We marked that we had 4 people staying and asked for a roll out bed. When we arrived it was in the hallway so we had to move furniture around and put bedding on it (and only one sheet was with the roll out bed), seemed like a lot of work on our end considering we had told it would cost us an extra $30/night for this option. We also had to call down late at night to have bedding delivered for the pull out since there wasn’t any in the room for it. We still did enjoy our time though and would return if we stay in Portland again.

It’s a beautiful historic hotel with gorgeous architecture but the room was filthy and all the furniture is run down and decrepit. The walls and doors were pretty gross with red jelly on some of them, a lot of coffee splatter on the bathroom door, chunks of drywall missing in the living room, smears of something gross on the lamp shade, filthy & sticky bathroom floors (I had to wipe up spilled water and the white cloth turned so grossly dirty gray), and the door jambs were also really dirty. It needs a really good wash down, repaint & furniture replaced. The bed was actually comfy except it slept hot. Lots of drugged out zombies walking around this area. But another nice thing is it’s really close to voodoo donuts.

I don't like the room. it is not the same look like the same picture when i booked ur app. my room was next to elevater and very noise, hot and dark Room was small only 1 chair, no enough accessories in the shower room like, no toothpaste, no face towel, no hairecape. When asked to change they show me the same room look like 2nd floor next to elevator and said they don't have other rooms. I been booked and reserved 3day befor.

Our room was extremely small. I guess a “studio suite” means a closet-sized room. We were by the elevator so it was very noisy. The room was also very noisy- the HVAC system, fridge, etc.) The breakfast area ceiling was painted blue and makes the whole space feel dingy and dark. The buffet ran out of basically everything. There were very few options. Totally different than a few years ago. Plus the decor was dusty and old.

Great first impression with the bellman and continued with the check-in process at the front desk. Tried my key on my iPhone and it worked great. Had booked a high floor room and chose 822. I liked the proximity to the elevator and ice room, however, the bed closest to the window had a sag in the mattress and was a bit uncomfortable. But I will return here because they have a great breakfast buffet.

My family and I stayed at the Embassy Suites in downtown Portland on August 7. We were impressed with the hotel and it's location. We booked through hotels.com. Four days after our stay we were charged an additional $300 by the hotel. We have not received any correspondence via phone, email, or mail explaining the charge. I called the front desk and was told that it was a deep cleaning fee. The person I spoke with offered to transfer me to the General Manager of the hotel. I have since left three messages, left my name and number, but have never received a call back. I did a walkthrough of our room before checking out and I have no idea what would have resulted in the need to deep clean the room. Regardless of the reason, the most frustrating thing is the complete lack of response from the General Manager. It's difficult to trust a hotel chain when there isn't any professional communication.

Kiersten and Wade at the desk were efficient, friendly, and very helpful. They made us feel very welcomed. This is a beautiful, historic hotel that has been modernized for comfort and retains its historic beauty. The free breakfast and happy hour were awesome! The valets were friendly and helpful.

This hotel customer service is terrible. I was double charged for the night we stayed at the hotel. I contacted both Expedia and hotel directly, the hotel has used my credit card to charge for their guest 3 nights after we left, but refused to refund to my bank. I could not get the money back from the bank. This is a robbery. I want to put 0 for this hotel service but 1 is the lowest I can pick. Be careful when you provide your card information to this hotel, they will use your card without your consent!!!

It is a hotel surrounded by homeless camps where they urinate and defacate on the sidewalks. Very scary city, downtown Portland. This is allowed behavior. I almost stepped in human feces. Filthy city. No police presence, except for government buildings and high end retail stores.

Stayed here with my family. Really great hotel in a convenient location. Would definitely stay again. Pros: -Location. Walking distance to a lot of popular shopping and sights in Portland. And only a 2 minute walk to the MAX station light rail if you don't want to walk. -Very beautiful historic hotel -Great service from the staff -Pool is pretty cool -Good breakfast -Rooms were nice and spacious -Very good price for quality of hotel -Wifi worked well. Cons: -Parking is very expensive and valet only. But they did keep my car safe and valet retrieval was fast. Portland can be risky for car burglary and smashed windows, so it was nice to know it was secure. -Some brief very loud noises from outside in the middle of the night. But that is not the hotel's fault. -Sofa bed in our room was horrible. I know sofa beds are not known to be great, but this one actually had holes in mattress and looked 20 years old. The rest of the furniture was nice, so was surprised. My kid just slept on the couch without unfolding bed.

It was so crowded, we couldn't enojoy the pool, the happy hour was weak (you used to have way more snacks) and the breakfast was so busy, long lines and the food was not good. The elevators took forever, and people would push you out of the way to get on and cut in front of you. This used to be a nice, respected establishment. I won't be staying here again.

Historical Hotel build in 1912. Accessible to nearest restaurants and places we visited. We like their happy hour at 5:39 pm to 7 pm everyday. I dont like their comlimentary breakfast. Its the same breakfast buffet every day.

The free breakfast and happy hours were awesome! The huge room they are in was fantastic, the food was always getting filled up! The hotel rooms are huge! All staff we encountered were super helpful and pleasant!

There are SEVERAL reasons to choose this hotel!: 1. Historical (built in 1912) 2. Wonderful architecture 3. Quiet rooms (thanks to building quality) 4. Amazing fitness area 5. Great breakfast choices (see below) 6. Helpful and friendly staff While the surrounding area may not be the best, and there are quite a few homeless downtown, you don't realize it as the hotel is built so well you feel shielded from the outside. They do an amazing job to make you feel comfortable and safe. If you are fortunate enough to stay on weekdays, the lady at the omelette station is amazing. She has been doing it for 26 years in this location and you will not find a better omelette!
