Great Smokies Inn - Cherokee

The property was beautiful, and really great for the price!! The outdoor swimming pool was SO nice.

Spent a couple of days in Cherokee for the 4th and we found the perfect spot at Great Smokies Inn. The hotel is nicely maintained, has a great pool area and is a convenient walk to several restaurants and shops. Beds are firm but still comfortable and our room had great water pressure with unlimited hot water which was nice. The TV’s are small (32”) but other than that no complaints. The casino was a quick five minute drive down the road and we were close to many great fishing spots. We will definitely come back to the area and stay here again.

The main complaint I had was the ice machine was down.

We have stayed here many times, and we have been pleased every time. The staff are nice and always helpful. I flyfish and the location places me close to plenty of opportunity. Mabel’s, Native Brews, and Wize Guys are all within walking distance too.It’s not fancy, but Great Smokies Inn is comfy and a great place to stay. Almost forgot to mention the fire pit and picnic area stocked with firewood.

The ice machines didn’t work anywhere on the property

Did the trick, not fancy or upscale but had everything you need. Nice large outdoor pool too.

Great "No Frills" hotels. Very clean facility, inside and outside. Love that they offer water, hot chocolate, tea and coffee. Staff very nice - great customer service.

My husband & I have gone to Cherokee the last 5 years for our Anniversary. We decided to stay at a different property this time & we were so glad we did. We discovered a whole new part of Cherokee that we didn’t know about. The property was very nice. Our room was great, clean & most importantly our AC worked perfectly. The pool was clean. The staff were very friendly & helpful. We will definitely be staying there on our trips to Cherokee from now on.

Disgusting property.. Room had major moisture problems that the motel had attempted to address with Damp Rid. Additionally the cable tv connection did not work. We asked for either a refund or a different room. Supposedly a refund is in the works after speaking to the manager of the property. DO NOT RECOMMEND

My room was spotless and very comfortable, with excellent water pressure in the shower. The staff were all so kind and welcoming, which made my stay even better. I didn’t get the chance to try out the pool, but it looked inviting and well kept. My only regret is that I couldn’t stay longer than one night—I’d definitely come back!

My room was exceptionally clean. I’ve stayed in about 20 hotels in the past month and a half on a lengthy road trip and this was honestly the cleanest hotel room I’ve seen. Front desk staff was friendly upon check-in, but I was so tired from hiking in the Smokies that I spent most of the time here sleeping. There are are many restaurants nearby but I opted just to get a meatball sandwich at the local firehouse subs because it was cheap and quick. In room, coffee and in the lobby in the morning were well stocked. I really couldn’t ask for more, especially given the price that I paid on a Saturday night in this area.

This is one of the cleanest hotels I have been in over the last 10 years Staff was super nice I love the fact that it is an older hotel and I could park my classic car right outside my door Towels and linens were new. Fresh paint in the walls. Will definitely stay here again.

The initial room assignment presented significant challenges, characterized by conditions that severely impacted air quality, causing noticeable respiratory distress for both my wife and me. We initially speculated that these conditions were systemic throughout the complex, leading to confusion regarding the rationale for renting such a unit. Following a visit to the casino, we promptly contacted the attendant to request a room change, which was efficiently facilitated at 3:00 AM. The subsequent unit offered a significantly improved environment. Despite the initial room condition, the staff's performance was commendable.

I really wanted to give this place a good review. Every single staff member was so warm and welcoming, and we truly felt like guests there. The lobby is clean, the rooms were as clean as they could be (minus some hairs on the sink but really nbd). The bed was really uncomfortable, super hard. I woke up several times throughout the night with a fully sore body due to the bed. The pillows were not comfortable either but not the worst. We had a connecting door to the room to the left of ours, and we could hear our neighbors very loudly. Thankfully the AC unit in our room was so loud that whenever it was on it would drown out their voices. The TV was also small and only played DirectTV which is whatever, honestly I don’t go to hotels for TVs but thought it was worth mentioning. The water for the tub doesn’t get very hot, and the tub started draining out of nowhere while I was mid-bath. No matter which way I flipped the drain switch, it kept draining. We were also situated by the pool, and the bright white lights filtered underneath our curtain, so the room wasn’t very dark at night. Nothing is really updated which is fine, the chair in the room is really comfy and again everything seemed really clean and smelled nice. The property is cool, there’s a nice field and hill and some picnic tables out back, and you are surrounded by the Smokies. The motel is also conveniently located.

The lights and tv only worked till 1 am. They did offer move to another room but im not moving at 1 am. The front desk didnt even know till we checked out. Will stay again but all i think they needed to do is check the breaker.

The room was no frills and just what I was looking for. It was comfortable, clean, and a great place to relax while not enjoying the National Park. The staff was accommodating, allowing late check in and early (4am) check out. Only minor issue with my room is the Wifi signal was weak and erratic. I was in a room fairly far from the office (101).

For the price, this inn is not bad; although I think the review is overrated, the blankets are so thin and the air conditioning too loud if I turn the heat on… you can hear noises outside, I probably should consider the casino hotel instead

The room was very clean, however, with our medical issues, the mattress was a spring mattress with zero support. However, we did not seek a refund and choose to just leave and go some where else. Great quaint room though and the guy that checked us in was real nice.

The room was very clean. Mattress and pillows were more firm than we like. Convenient to Harrah’s casino. Do not reserve pool side if you go to bed early, as it was loud with kids playing. Would stay there again!

Everything was good as usual! We have stayed there several times. The only negative was the Wi-Fi in our room was really slow. And as an extra bonus… it snowed while we were there!

We've stayed here a few times now & it's always clean & welcoming. The room is very large with a desk & a large chair & ottoman. Not as updated or 'shiny' as some, but comfortable, quiet & VERY close to GSMNP & Okolanuftee Welcome Center. Bonus - there are several very good restaurants & shops within 5 mins walk!

The room was very clean. My only complaint was how LOUD the heater was when it came on.

Check-in was not smooth because they had given our room to some else and had to relocate us. They had some trouble locating the room change information and precharged us $50.00 for a pet fee, that was refunded upon check-out, even though we didn't have a pet. The room was a good size, clean but no printed TV guide. Guide was on the TV scrolling quickly, so it was a little hard to read the screen. We stayed one night on Labor Day weekend and thought it was a little overpriced for not having some type of breakfast offering. It was a clean room with ample space and near some resturants.

The staff was very friendly and the housekeeper Lena was out of this world helpful to us!!!

All of the employees at the hotel were nice and helpful, especially Jenny at the front desk. The hotel is clean and has everything you need. Also the price is great. Would definitely go back.

My only issue would be that if a guest reports that the toilet is stopped up that the staff comes and plunge it. Do not hand the guest a plunger!

They gave us an occupied room. Thankfully no one was in the room. Front desk did not seem surprised this happened.

I like the location and has always been clean and quiet. I wasn't too happy with the lady working the front desk, I got there 13 minutes before check in and she was outside smoking, she asked if I was there to check-in, I said yes and she let out a big sigh, huffed and puffed and I said I'm sorry I interrupted your smoke break, I'll go back to my car and wait, she said no, that's ok, that's what they're here for and nodded at some other people and rolled her eyes, she acted like it was the end of the world and that it bothered her terribly that I was there 13 minutes early, things like that kinda deters me from wanting to stay there again. She probably shouldn't be in this business with an attitude like that

The place is well located with several restaurants. The room was clean, beds comfortable. The main drawback was the young lady at the desk for check in. She wasn't smiling and seemed bored by us. We are used to English but she spoke very fast without articulating, making no efforts even when we asked her to repeat. It was annoying. Fortunately, the lady at the desk for checkout was really nice and welcoming.

Great location if you are visiting the Smoky Mountain National Park. Rooms are clean and close to restaurants.

Great room, clean and updated. Walkable to restaurants and even to visitors center in Smokey Mountains (3 miles roundtrip). Easy acces to Blue Ridge Parkway and Smokey Mountains. Would stay here again.

The hotel was clean, quiet, and comfortable for a one night stay. The property is kept up well for an older building. There were several gift shops and restaurants within walking distance. We saw elk about 1/4 mile down the road from the hotel while departing. Would definitely consider staying here again if in the area.

This is a great basecamp for spending time in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Rooms, while older, are clean and comfortable.

Love this hotel. It is no ftills but has everything the matters to me (clean, safe, super friendly staff and close to so many attractions). I’ve already stayed here two separate times this month and am about to book again. It is my top choice in Cherokee. Also it is a central location to do day trips to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Bryson City, Dillsboro and even Asheville! And it’s super close to the Blue Ridge pkwy and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. !

Good, basic room in the Smoky Mountains. Good valve for the price. No bells or whistles, room was clean and the staff was friendly. Plan on staying there for our next mountain trip.

We found the room to be large and clean and the bed very comfortable. You could walk to many shops and restaurants in the area. We would stay there again.

Property had a nice homey feeling as you check in. Rooms were clean and sanitized.Friendly staff. Time of year pool was closed. No hot tub. No breakfast. No daily room cleaning. Fresh towels provided on request. Coffee provided. Several great resturants within walking or easy drive distance. This is the gateway to the Smokie mountains, right off hwy 441. Fuel available across street and a great breakfast place. Overall a good stay at a reasonable price. Will stay again
