Rolling Hills Lodge

I arrived about 10 minutes after check in began. There was a sign on the locked lobby door to check in at the window, so I did. The young man was friendly and had my key quickly. I entered the room, which was quite clean. There was coffee and a TV, so I was happy. The bathroom was very clean and plenty of towels supplied. The Vending machine and Ice maker were both broken, so I was unable to get water except from the tap once my bottle was empty. The motel was within walking distance of several cute shops, but none were open early enough for me to get coffee or breakfast without a drive over to the main drag. That was ok though, still not too far. I didn't even attempt the lobby breakfast because I was afraid it would be locked still like the evening before. But they said it was offered there as well. No bells and whistles here, but it was clean, affordable and not far from all the action.

The location was great. The receptionist was amazing. Breakfast was delicious. Ice maker out of order. Vending machine did not work. No pillowcases on some pillows. Bathroom rugs needed to be cleaned. No hairdryer. Small amount of toilet paper. Tried to call the office after 6 o’clock and did not receive an answer.

The property was not at all what was portrayed on the site. Very run down and limited. No available vending machine. No guest access to ice machine. No inside common area. The furniture and beds broken down and in extreme need of a renovation. It could be a great property if it were upgraded. Don’t spend the extra money for the breakfast that stays the same all weekend and is only served from 8-9 am, no water and one must not be late in that hour if coffee is wanted. No hangers for my clothes no pen or paper, no available menus either. The night young man was pleasant but not a hospitality worker. Good luck with the lady who runs the window for all transactions all day. The place is locked up all day and there is no extra anything. Carpets furniture and bedding so old and worn. The housekeepers do what they can with the tools they are given. Oldest mop I have seen in decades! Many other options close, to bad it could be a cozy place.

Upon arrival 11:30pm check in was super fast and easy. The room is small but we just needed a place to sleep. Everything was clean enough for us. TV could be upgraded but we were there to sight see and weekend getaway not watch tv. Carpet could be updated. Had an old home smell but nothing we couldn’t deal with. Bed was comfortable for us. Not too soft not too hard. Slept great! We didn’t get to have breakfast as we were told it was only from 8-9 am and we weren’t ready in time. Overall I’d stay again. Price was decent and property was quiet. Each room has its own entrance.

The room smelled musty but it was clean. It was a motel with your car right outside your door. No pool or outside lawn area. One block from downtown but elk walking nearby. Staff was friendly.

Location is great, walking distance to restaurants and visitors center, parking is in front of your unit - a big plus!

A homey motel along the main road leading to the Smoky Mountains national park. Location is good. Reception is a little different - through a window. No breakfast but a coffee dispenser available in a porch with some seating. Room clean and cozy.

Helpful and friendly staff, and clean but small rooms. The lodge offered a plate of very tasty breakfast each morning and cold water bottles if needed (no water fountain on site). The rooms have a minifridge. Complementary wifi worked well enough for light internet browsing. Each room has two rocking chairs out front. Qualla Arts and a few tourist gift shops are walking distance.

Used washcloth left hanging by the last person using the room, hairs found on sheets in bed. But quiet and simple and convenient.

Check in was great and easy. Room had just been cleaned. BUT…….a ton of Clorox must have been dumped because the room was soo strong with the smell. It was clean. We kept door/windows open and turned air way up. Finally decided to go out for awhile like we had planned. Probably gone 3 hours and it was just as bad when we came back. We finally decided to see if we could get another room. We did. The staff was excellent and very nice. The rooms were okay but furniture was worn. But clean. In the room we stayed in the bathroom only had one light and that was around the sink. The shower was hard to get in and no lights or fans over it at all. Again it seemed clean and the staff was awesome.

Our room smelled like a dog had used the bathroom in it repeatedly, and the carpet was sticky feeling. To top it off whoever cleaned it didn’t even bother to get out the last peoples soap from the bathtub. I really wish you could trust the photos posted online because this was completely different than expected.

I can honestly say Rolling Hills Lodge was by far the cleanest place my husband and I have ever stayed. I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was very cordial and accommodating. We will definitely stay there again when visiting Cherokee, NC

Room was spotless but a little on the small side. But it suited me for the night. Staff very nice.

The bedding was dirty. We immediately requested more bedding. The room smelled of mold, causing my head to hurt. We ended up leaving early.

Bedding, including mattress, needs to be replaced. Furniture is outdated and the room in general needs to be refreshed. There was an overwhelming odor of room refresher or perhaps some type of cleaner. The room, in general, did appear to be clean.

Rolling Hill Lodge is a far cry from their website information. For a $100 plus a night I expected more. Check in was through a window and not very personable and very little information given. Room ok but you had to look around to fine small notes of paper telling you how the shower works (most screwed up thing I've ever seen and I'm 76 years old), what the wi fi was, had two different ones in our room which caused problems trying to use my computer. Wife took a shower and walked around room barefooted and had to rewash her feet as they were black from the dirty carpet. I in turn walked around in white socks which became black socks. room small 11 ft by 15 ft. breakfast made to order is not that, had breakfast tacos and it was not very good, the fruit with it was good. Did not eat breakfast there again. need a stool in bath to use when dressing, etc. also better lighting as using mirror to shave is very hard to see, and the tube has very high sides, also need a second chair in room so two people can seat down without using the bed. TV did not come in clear, guess that's the cable company. I can not in good faith give this place more than one star. I would tell others to use name brand hotels with free breakfast.

Property was great. Room was good. Food at breakfast was excellent. Internet was iffy!

They let us check in an hour early, very nice room and huge bathroom. Definitely would stay here again! Staff was very nice and friendly too.

When we first pulled up, we were wondering if the pictures were wrong. But when we went to our room we were pleasantly surprised. The room was great. Very comfortable bed, with lots of pillows. Huge bathroom. It was very quiet. You couldn't even hear the people in the rooms next to you.

Not Wild about staying in a place that still uses metal keys - easily reproducible. Room was clean, but air conditioner was inefficient. A dehumidifier is badly needed!

Place is old and showing its age. Towels thin like sandpaper. Ice machine out of order, and the mattress sags and should be replaced. Good location across from the river. Skip breakfast it was a burrito.

The room was quite small but worked for us. It was clean and front personnel were very nice.

Our room was clean but very poor lighting. Also, the bath towels were very thin.

The breakfast was very tasty. The room was small and outdated. No toilet lid, the towels were rough and small, the soap for the sink and shower (1 bar) was super-tiny. Good location and the attendant let us check in several hours early which was really nice.

The wi-fi wasn’t very reliable. Several of the tv channels didn’t come up clearly. The air conditioning in our room sounded like a motorcycle engine every time it came on. The noise level from the outside was unpleasant when we trying to sleep.

The room was clean. The tv was only analog with poor reception and only a few channels. The breakfast was excellent. Lighting in the room was dim and not enough to read by. The staff was very good. If we had called the property direct we could have saved $20 per night. The deadbolt did not work, only a push button lock.

The room was clean and had all the amenities you'd need. The area around was very walkable and friendly to get around. Parking was extremely easy even with the seemingly busy weekend they were having. Staff was extremely friendly and the breakfast was top notch 🙌

The staff did not let us know what the Wifi password is or did they have a piece of paper to give us. We tried calling the front desk to no avail and finally had to go to the front and press the buzzer several times until someone came out.

Excellent service and a nice clean place to stay

Very impersonal- check in is thru a window. Ice machine doesn’t work. Breakfast was supposed to be included, but no breakfast. No staff at checkout. Overall, just a room with a bed.

This was the easiest check in experience we have ever had. The room was very comfortable and near many shops. Everything about the was wonderful. Plan on using them again when we are there.

Got here abkut130am to check in. No one was here. No key in box!!! I better not ger charged for this. No place to sleep.

Refrigerator didn’t work, staff didn’t answer the desk phone even when calling from the hotel phone multiple times, staff didn’t answer check in window even after ringing bell multiple times, overall negative experience.

Quaint motel, nice and clean! The free breakfast was excellent and the staff were great! Only stayed overnight but i will definitely stay there next time we are in Cherokee!

Although a basic motel, we were very surprised at the quality of the bed and the breakfast was amazing. The room was spacious and very clean. The bath towels could use an upgrade as well as the TV channel choices. But these were very minor compared to the bed comfort and the very tasty hot breakfast! I recommend staying here if you want to be near everything in Cherokee.

The location was great. Very close to everything we were planning to do.

Great little place to stay, close to everything Cherokee has to offer. Room was comfortable and clean. Bed was comfortable and shower had plenty of hot water. The logde is a short drive to the Casino, dining, shopping and the play, Unto these Hills (not to be missed). Cherokee NC has changed a lot since my visit 60 years ago. Really a beautiful place to be enriched by Native American heritage.

We enjoyed being so close to shops and restaurants.

Great little place to stay close to everything but far enough to have some peacefulness.

First off location you can walk pretty much anywhere. Beautiful view comfy room very quiet. I would recommend ROLLING HILLS LODGE to everyone

Property was great. Room was good. Food at breakfast was excellent. Internet was iffy!

The breakfast is not like any other hotel. You order at window and it is made when you order. You also get fresh fruit and a cinnamon roll. Juice and coffee. This hotel is one level. No stairs. The room was clean and well maintained.

The travel Lodge room was very spacious and clean. There was no facial tossues in the room, but fortunately they were not needed during our 1 night stay. The free breskfast is a bit deciving as only" famous" breakfast tortillias were the offering. Over all a great place for an overnight stay.

This place was a gem! Nice staff, clean rooms, amazing homemade breakfast! My only suggestion would be to have a brighter light in the bathroom, but that’s all! Was nice to be able to walk to many places from there.

Breakfast individually prepared for each guest. Absolutely have not experienced that anyplace else in my travels. It was wonderful.

The property is conveniently located to the Smoky Mountain. But breakfast is served to you by the window outside and it’s cold in the mornings to eat breakfast outside. The only alternative is to eat in your room by there is no table to eat from for a two person room. Coffee is cold cos it sits outside in the cold. There is nothing good to eat in terms of Food dinner.

Best complimentary breakfast ever and elk sightings

I was first drawn to the nice breakfast offered. The problem was I didn’t get any. You must order the breakfast between 8-9am, a short window compare to other similar hotels. The room is very close to the road. The nice and lights from the street kept me up all night. The bathroom was clean and looks to be recently renovated.

Disappointing, that's the word that best describes my experience. The room was tiny, stinky, dirty, and def not worth what we paid to stay there. There are signs and notes everywhere with rules like you're staying at a mean mother-in-law's house. The "award winning breakfast" is a taco with egg, mushroom, peppers, and onions. It comes with fruit and half a cinnamon roll. There is no alternative, and if you ask for something different, the lady cooking the food will tell you that their breakfast won an award. Well, I'm allergic to onions and she used the same hand to touch everything, so it doesn't matter if it's "award winning" if I can't eat it. And you can not take a plate back to the room for your spouse. You have to be at the window between 8am and 8:55am in person, or you get nothing. The ice machine is broken, and you can only ask them for ice between 2pm and 10pm. It is in a good lication, but everything around it closes at 5pm. The young guy who works at the front desk is very sweet. You can not actually walk up to the front desk or enter the lobby, you have to do all business through a window. I can't lie, I cried over the amount of money we paid to stay here because I was so disppointed. It's not a terrible place, just not at all what I expected.
