My Third time staying at this resort, the property is great rooms are alittle outdated but over all clean comfy, the lobby is beautiful, great outdoor pools and area as well also has shopping center near pools in back, so many restaurants to choose from buffets always good, only complaint this time is the ocean was a disaster, the seaweed problem this year is insane the resort try’s it best to clean the shore but the ocean it’s self is bad, but that can’t be helped other then the ocean this resort is my go to doesn’t disappoint.

breakfast was not the best but ok, some staffers were friendly, but some of them especially in the foodcourt area, could care less if we were there or not. Hospitality very dissapointing. Outdoor pool water was dirty and alcohol drinks were the worst I ever experience, non brand and cheap, and the taste was proof of it. Beach was good, with good waves and free of seaweeds.

We spent 4 nights with 12 immediate family. All seniors except two adults. Everything is going smooth except on Sunday morning around 1 Am and fire alarm went off. Till 2:30 am. Every 5 minutes or less it’s sounds on and on. Most guests panic and due to poor communication from the announcement there are conflicting reports to evacuate or to wait and listen. It came off again at 7 am though it’s short. Can’t reach front desk. No explanation given till we left the hotel at 12 noon. It happened once on Saturday around noon but it’s short. No fire or policemen came. Staff doesn’t know what happened either. It really disturb sleep but it’s scary and most of our family members can’t go back to sleep at all. Front desk and dining room staff are friendly and helpful and polite. They are great. Food in buffet dining is good lots of choices though later in the evening foods get cold and less appealing on some dishes. This is my first visit to Punta Cana so can’t compare to other hotels. Beach is fantastic. Shows and parties might be great for younger travelers but not for seniors.

Pros: Staff was awesome. They genuinely seemed to enjoy their jobs and that showed up in how they provided services. When they said it was their pleasure to help, it felt like they truly meant it. Site is very pretty - lobby is gorgeous and grounds are well kept and lovely to look at. Having the water park nearby was definitely a plus. Cons: restaurants were small and food was not good (and took forever). Evening buffet was only highlight and even then it was only pretty good. We weren't expecting fine dining or anything, but have had better quality at other PC resorts. Pools were small and relatively full most of the day, compared to the sister RIU only steps away. After finding those other pools, we hung out there more than our own due to fewer people and being more spacious and deeper. The gym was super tiny and crowded and machines were old. Other RIU gym was also on the small side but more updated and had room to actually stretch post-workout. Wi-fi was problematic the whole stay - original logins didn’t work, had to continuously sign in, signals were weak in a lot of spots. Rooms are on the small side. Only two outlets in the room worked which made it hard to charge phones and watches for three people. A lot of things on the property looked “patched” and some things likely just need replacement (toilet seat, for example). Evening entertainment was pretty lame most nights. Would have liked more options than just what was on the stages outside the lobby.

What I didn’t like about the hotel: When I first checked in, the staff didn’t explain where anything was, which made it hard to find amenities and get oriented. The pools were a long walk from the rooms, which was inconvenient. There were no lights in the pool area after 6 PM, making it feel unsafe or unusable at night. Pools closed too early, so there wasn’t much time to enjoy them in the evening. There was no good selection of 24-hour food options, and room service either didn’t answer or never delivered. The shower had a terrible smell, like garbage, which made it unpleasant to use. The bed was uncomfortable—two twin beds pushed together, so sleeping in the middle was awkward. What I did like: Every staff member I interacted with was pleasant and nice, which made the experience a bit better despite the issues.

First time, overall it was a nice resort. The accommodations were satisfactory, not spectacular. Staff was amazing! Food was mediocre. Drinks were good and entertainment was great! The distance from the lobby to the beach and pools were a decent walk. The restaurants advertised open until 9:30pm I believe but most nights we witnessed them turning people away and saying closed around 8:30pm which left only the buffet option.

Good- The staff was amazing!!!! William, Steven the PT, pool servers and many others. Hands down the best staff of any resort I've been to. The gym is very small and half the stuff was broken. The water slides were cool but about an 8 min walk and closed on Tuesdays. Rooms are older and very small. We traveled with (4) adults and (2) 15 year old boys. We all agreed Dreams Onyx was much better where we stayed last year in Punta Cana . We had a great trip but I wouldn't go back to this resort.

Cleanliness was a major concern. The room wasn’t properly cleaned, there was hair on the food, a lipstick stain on a glass, and a tiny roach spotted in the self-serve juice at the buffet. Sadly, this experience ensures I won’t be returning

Clean room

I checked in my room. The room was so smelly. The fridge was dirty, the bathroom was all soap scum, the bedsheets had stains. The floor was so dusty. I had to call them to clean the room as soon as I got in. They are filthy in this resort. A lot of other guests were also complaining

property has such a high turn over due to the cheap price that the rooms aren’t throughly cleaned and the sheets are so stained along with everything else i would splurge and stay somewhere else

My room had a lot of issues, since the first day I arrived there were a lot of mosquitoes flying around and I had to get rid of them. Also there were cockroaches in the bathroom and walking around in the room, this was super disgusting. Even though, I read this on the reviews before, I didn't think it was going to happen to me. Also I had 2 bad experiences in the restaurants during dinner and breakfast time, clearly the staff is not well-trained to deal with customer service appropriately. During dinner time, my entree took a lot of time (around 30 minutes) and the servers told me that there was an issue with the gas line but I think they didn't put through my order and then they brought the dessert first (clearly they weren't communicating each other) and then for the breakfast time I went by myself to have breakfast and I went to get something to complement it and when I came back to the table my breakfast was gone! They told me that it was a matter of how to set the utensils on the plate, and that way they know that someone hasn't finished eating. They got me another omelette but I think the way they are trained is not the correct one, the place wasn't even busy at all to make the decision of just dump my food in less than 2 minutes that I was away from my table. It was a bittersweet experience but definitely there is room to improve many processes in terms of customer service staff training.

Very clean property and room, the bathroom in the room was spotless, fully-stocked mini bar, all-you-can-eat buffets throughout the day, friendly staff... This was a great place to stay. It is overwhelming at first, but ask for a map of the facility and it will all make sense. I would absolutely recommend this resort if you are looking at these reviews.

The staff was very rude they all seemed like they didn’t want to work there. There was ants in the room as well as the bathroom wasn’t working and the shower. It was not clean and the food was very bad I have been to multiple hotels and this one was one of the worst.

Where do I begin, food was HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE! Room was dated, and not cleaned properly. Fridge was broke with hair in it, and when they came to replace it, they brought an even dirtier fridge! No premium or English channels. No trash bags in the trash cans and when I asked for some, housekeeping said they didn’t have them. Dirty sheets and towels (thank God I brought my own towels) Room service has NO selection of food! literally a choice of 2 sandwiches, 2 salads or nachos……THAT’S IT! LITERALLY! For this to be a “Palace” resort I was extremely disappointed and frustrated. The ONLY good thing about this resort is the themed parties, and swim up bar staff. But it’s very frustrating to NOT be able to eat after a day of partying and drinking. I made the best of my time there because it was my birthday, but I can honestly say I will NEVER go back to this resort, and I would NEVER suggest it to anyone.

Major shortcomings in cleanliness, maintenance, and service From August 18–23, I stayed in a Junior Suite with Garden View at Rui Palace Punta Cana. This stay did not meet expectations for a resort of this level. - Service: Some staff members were rude, and this was amplified for guests of color. While language differences exist, courtesy and patience should remain constant. - Communication: I experienced persistent frustration from staff when I tried to communicate. A better effort to accommodate guests with language barriers is needed. - Cleanliness: The room was not clean at check-in. Housekeeping only changed towels (placed on the floor as instructed) and made the beds, with no thorough cleaning or fresh supplies beyond towels. - Maintenance: The toilet had issues that lasted two days and affected usability. - Pests: Cockroaches were present in the rooms and throughout the dining areas, which is unacceptable. Given these issues, I wouldn’t plan to return unless the hotel implements substantial improvements in staff training, cleaning protocols, maintenance responsiveness, and pest control.

The main complaint about this resort is the outdated rooms. To begin with, the two full-size beds only work for two travelers. For a family of four, you’re forced to book two rooms since the beds cannot comfortably fit two people each. In addition, the rooms themselves, including the bathroom, are very outdated. The sinks are cracked, the toilets have stains, the mattresses are extremely firm, and the showers are worn down. Housekeeping also left much to be desired — the sheets were not changed once during our week-long stay, and the overall effort put into cleaning was minimal. The property itself is nice, with multiple pools and easy access to the ocean. However, the beach is poorly maintained, and the debris scattered along the sand significantly detracts from its appeal. The food was adequate, with the buffet offering the best meals. Unfortunately, the restaurants were underwhelming and not particularly enjoyable. One of the biggest inconveniences during our stay was the recurring power outages. These occurred even without rain, tropical storms, or hurricanes. The first outage lasted about three to four hours, and several more followed, each lasting a few minutes. The staff showed little concern and made no accommodations for guests during these outages, which was very disappointing.

Great entertainment morning and night. Best party hosted. We got there right after the hurricane so the beach was in terrible condition fill with seaweeds in water and beach. It was a shame since the water was nice and shallow but the seaweeds just ruin it. The overall hotel was in nice condition but the rooms really need some work. My room was on first floor it’s was ok but old. My friend got a room on ground floor in the beginning and it was moldy and they change them into first floor after. The food was ok, not the best but still edible. If you got more budget definitely look else where.

We stood at the RIU Palace in June 2025: family of 5. The RIU Palace Punta Cana is an older facility. Check in: Check in was pretty painless not a huge line. However, other all inclusive will usually have someone who tags your bags while you wait for the room and that didn't happen. There was no one there to greet you with a drink as some other places do. Lastly, there was no working taking you bags to the room, you have to do it yourself. Not a deal breaker. Restaurants: The buffet were great, the food was awesome and there was no shortage of locations to eat. At night, unlike other resorts where you make appointments for ala carte restaurants, RIU you had to be there a "hope" there was space available. The Japanese/Sushi place was our first stop the worst experience, carried around a pager for 2 hours without getting into the restaurant. Beach: was full of seaweed and unusable for most of the stay. They did clean it up, so we went in for one day. Outside excursions: We planned for one, but the front desk made a mistake and wouldn't let the front gate know we were getting picked up. The front desk made our family walk about .5 miles to the gate for no reason. The gate guard told us the excursion would pick us up. Room: We had adjoining rooms. The rooms were older, AC was not crisp. The outlets were so fragile we couldn't charge our phones with wiggling the power cord. Our shower was leaking from the control valve, we put a ticket but it was not resolved.

The hotel itself is pretty good. My only issue is I paid for an oven view and didn't receive it. Instead of telling me one wasn't available they gave me a different room and hoped I didn't notice. I was offered to move to a oven view the next day but I didn't want to go thru the hassle of moving everything.

- No proper internet on TV for streaming - WiFi constantly dropped as I moved around the property - Rooms: this was my least favorite part of my experience. Temperature wise it was either extremely cold with AC or a normal temperature with extreme humidity/dampness. Beds were not so comfortable after a couple nights. No real finishes to the rooms, they paint on the fly (I saw a lot of white paint cans while cleaning rounds were happening) which is fine but you can see white paint splatter on a lot of the wood in the room. Rooms are NOT soundproof you can hear everything happening above, and if your room faces inward, I hope you are a night owl - Not enough spots for hotel guests between pool and beach options. Wish there were more sun spot options by the ocean not fully shaded

The resort itself is pretty and the staff was nice enough. Some were a little pushy wanting you to sit in their section at the restaurants, but we were always treated very well. The rooms could have been nice except that they are musty and smell moldy. There were even mold spots on the mattress and walls. Nothing would dry because it was so damp in the room. There were roaches as well. The TV we had was not a smart TV so we couldn't log into Netflix or any other apps, which meant we were limited to watching whatever channel had English speaking movies on. There were 11 of us, so we had 5 rooms. All of them had these issues. The pools were also not as clean as other resorts I have stayed at. The beach was beautiful, but the amount of beach vendors was really annoying. You can't just sit and relax without someone trying to sell you something every 5 minutes. Sadly, I would not recommend this resort to friends or family.

I was quite disappointed with my stay at this hotel. The room had a noticeable musty odor, and many of the facilities appeared very outdated, with some not functioning properly. The overall cleanliness did not meet expectations. In addition, the restaurant food was inconsistent—often overcooked, sometimes too salty, and at other times lacking flavor. I hope the management can address these issues to improve the guest experience.

Needs better outlets and toilets that you don’t need to hold down for 4 seconds to flush.

Last minute booking Cost to value was good. Expansive room that needed some minor repairs 1. Soap dispenser was off the wall 2. TV would not turn off with the remote. You had to unplug the TV at the wall socket every night

The service from the waiters were excellent! However from the moment we checked into our rooms there was no power, electricity , no biggie we were patient and understanding of the situation. There was also no running water in the sink , shower or toilets wouldn’t flush. It stinked, there was mold on the walls and bed, and roaches coming out of the fridge. Only buffet was opened for food and they had candles in order for us to see somewhat what we were eating. They kept saying power would be restore but after 2 days nothing was resolved. They proceeded to move us to different rooms, but 1/3 didn’t have power and the other 2 already had occupants. It was a disaster and a mess, people were yelling and my kids felt unsafe. The hotel manager finally moved us to a different hotel and advised us to submit a claim for a refund, now that we have submitted the claim they are avoiding us! I had previously stayed here before which is why we came back, but i wouldn’t recommend at all how they handled their customers and the situation. I shouldn’t be stressed on vacation with a group of 9!

Check-in/out is incredibly too long. Waited atleast an hour to be checked in. Rooms were smelly and bed linen were overwhelming stank. Had to contact guest services for clean bed linen and the new linen still had an odor. Roaches were throughout the room all day and night.

Everything was great except for room service they took hours to come and sometimes marked requests completed when they didn’t even come to the room.

This was my first time doing an all inclusive resort and I must say I was disappointed. The food was either frozen, not fully cooked, or too salty. The staff was ok depending on who you got. Some of them seemed annoyed

A prolonged power outage occurred, and it was evident that the hotel was completely unprepared to manage the situation or provide a reliable backup source of electricity. Throughout this time, there was no visible presence or communication from management to address guests’ concerns or offer assistance. This lack of leadership and accountability only added to the frustration and confusion among guests. As a result, we were left without air conditioning overnight more than 24 hrs. I was forced to sleep without A/C, which aggravated my allergies , causing considerable discomfort. Furthermore, the quality of food and service was severely impacted, as the kitchen and staff were unable to maintain normal operations. This experience fell far below the standards expected of a reputable establishment. Thanks to the staff who stayed and did their best to serve us during the hotel’s power outage. Restaurant buffet and front desk sorry for our frustrations you don’t deserve it.

Riu manager did NOT let my taxi driver on the property because the security guard and the driver got into an argument. I booked the taxi before I left the untied states. Riu chose not to let my driver on the property yet they did nothing to help my family and I get to the gate. I had to spend 50 dollars to get a taxi that was already on the property to give my family and I a ride to the airport. Riu manger did not care that I had a flight to catch. The manager actually said "that is not my problem" when I told her I had a flight to catch. The manger did not like any of my ideas. They had carts to take riu guest to the casino. I asked if we could get dropped off to the gate and the manager stated the carts are used in the afternoon and that the situation had nothing to do with her. I am paying money to stay at Riu. If I have a problem than its your problem too.

The place is so family friendly with safe and big water park for adults and kids. Very clean facility, beautiful beach, easy to get around with all inclusive food options for all, including gluten-free options. We enjoyed our stay so much. The hotel staff were all so friendly and welcoming…always with a smile and happy to serve us. Thank you!!! We’ll be back.

En general todo estuvo muy bueno. Lo unico que para el parque de agua habia que caminar mucho, tambien para la discoteca NO HABIA TROLEY.

This all inclusive was just what the doctor ordered. If you want a quick trip with relaxing views and amazing service then this is your spot. The staff at the pool bar is hands down the best! David will literally have your drink ready before the one in your hand runs out. Talk to strangers and make friends! The beach is great aside from the people offering you everything under the sun. Just say no and keep it moving. Book your tours on property as the tours offered at the airport are a time share scam waste of time if you are not into that do not interact with the people just outside the terminal head to your transportation kiosk and you will find your carrier.

Property is not accommodating to those with mobility issues or elderly. No shuttle to water park or casino (unless it was 7pm). Restaurants were supposed to be first come, first served but that was not the case for all of them. Grandparents traveling with us spent most of time at hotel and not the other amenities because of a lack of access. Disappointing

Beautiful hotel. We were at Riu Palace Punta Cana. It has one of the nicest lobbies we’ve seen. Food for the most part is very good. Luigi and Crystal were the best ones. Steakhouse not so great including service. Foam party was really cool. My kids loved the water park. Rooms are nice. Comfy beds. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Entertainment was good. If you are celebrating something, they decorate nicely. Definitely recommend. Thank you Riu!

This resort is fantastic! The resort is not very big, walking throughout the resort is easy. There are several a la carte restaurants which don’t require a reservation. The service provided by the staff is excellent. Definitely exceeded my expectations.

Food has variety and good, staff are friendly

Grounds were beautiful. Rooms were clean and cool. Food selection was not good. Room service was awful and had only a few items. Maybe 4. Would not stay here again based on the food. Hospitality was decent at best when it came to food. Drinks were good. Atmosphere was fun and uplifting.

Amenities were excellent, riu party was awesome. Room cleanliness was very good. Food however overall was 5/10 at best. Service 9/10

Riu Palace Punta cana is majestic looking, with beautifully manicured grounds . Buffet was good with a good variety, staff always attentive and friendly . The Ala carte restaurants we tried were the Japanese and the seafood and steak restaurant and were disappointed. The Buffett is better compared to those two we tried, can’t speak for the rest . Given the size of the property and the number of rooms, it could use more entertainment during the day and night . Compared to Mexican and Jamaican all inclusive resorts, that has daily shows and activities at the pool, this was a bit lacking . We did go to the Riu white party on Wednesday night and that was fun but it was adults only so the kids had to stay behind . All in all it was a great resort with wonderful staff .

I would not recommened to order meat at any restaurant. It does not matter if you ask medium o medium rare you will get well done or even very dry meat.

The breakfast was good lunch and dinner horrible everything over cooked made me very sick for a couple days ruined my trip the worst rui food I ever experience never go back and I stay at the ru all ova the world
