Otter Hotel

Everything was excellent about this hotel. The hot pools were an excellent advantage of this hotel, but they were almost always crowded from morning till midnight.

Had a great time. Very clean room. Staff friendly. The best part is the hot pools and sauna.

Great restaurant; helpful and friendly staff; clean and convenient facilities. I'd like to give it a 4.5 rating. Two things prevented me from giving Otter the full five stars. The room's primary window faced the foot of a service drive and parking garage for the neighboring hotel. It was the tidiest service drive I've seen, but the hotel could have planted a few shrubs to improve the view. The other was the hot tub area. Jets in one tub had failed, and the promised towels were not available.

The staff were incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable, far exceeding our expectations. The hot pools and fireplace areas were fantastic, and the breakfast at the restaurant was delicious. A truly wonderful experience!

Room and facilities are great. Some feedback for front desk: I asked why everyone seemed to have robes but our room didn’t have any. She said there was a robe shortage. It would have been nice if I she offered to get us some but did not. Not a big deal. Staff were great too

Clean room. No Mountain View like advertised. Elevators very slow. Staff very slow. Good location. New and clean supplies/amenities.

We were disappointed in a lot of things, but the following really bothered us. I spoke to a cleaning staff about blood stains (not mine) on the comforter. I asked them to change it and left a tip for them. They took the tip and left the blood stained comforter. I have to say the food in the restaurant was really good though.

Clean rooms, hot pools were great, enjoyed the complimentary coffee and tea. Nothing to complain about.

Bedsheets were dirty/ had hair in it. Even after replacing by the housekeepers the hair stayed

Room was very clean however the carpet was not as clean (you can see some dust/dirt build up in corners) but otherwise all amenities were very very clean. The staff have been so friendly, we did not however receive the complement hot chocolate and tea bags we selected for night 2 & 3 (we completed and left the paper out for the cleaners with our order but did not receive anything. Although we were 3 adults, we only received 2 cups/mugs/washroom cups. There was plenty of towels for us though which were restocked. Yes we had a. Mountain view however the view was partially blocked by a building so I don’t see it worth the money to upgrade to a mountain view when the view was obstructed. Since there was no actual view to be in awe of we did not spend much time on the balcony

Clean, beautiful hotel

Great location right on the Main Street. Easy & free parking. Bus stop is right by the hotel. Great amenities and newly renoed. We had breakfast in Good folks, food is great. only thing is the bedsheet could be a bit more clean, there’s hairs and lint on them. Hair is also found in the bathroom.

The hot pool with mountain view was amazing. We really liked it and all things are managed very clean. However, the room condition is not that clean. The micro oven was dirty with food and smelly when we took at the first time and the room floor is not that vacuuming well. Overall, hotel was nice with 4 point out of 5.

Very lovely hotel - I travel for work and stay in a lot of hotels , I only rated this a 2 star for the reasons that I was very unhappy with a few things that caused me 3 nights of very little and uncomfortable sleep due to the gap around the door allowing a large amount of light in and noise , I ended up having to run to the dollar store to get a roll of duck tape to tape it off to get some sleep , the balcony light cannot be turned off either so very many light sources all night and also the pillows and bed are very hard and uncomfortable. Beautiful hotel and staff but sadly will not be back.

Rooms are spacious and new. The outdoor hot pools and Sauna are a highlight. The only complaint is that the A/C is LOUD. And it kick starts at random hours throughout the night. I wish a hotel as new as this would have a better A/C system that doesn’t sound like those of a rundown motel.

Modern aesthetic, nice room, great restaurant and bar in the lobby, cool outdoor hot tub, very helpful front desk staff, and ski resort and airport shuttle buses pick up next door and across the street. Only minor downside is that it's at the far end of town in Banff, so we took multiple cabs down to the other end where all the action is instead of walking 15-20 minutes in the freezing cold.

Very clean rooms. My only negative, really: The pillows were uncomfortable. Although there were six on the bed, they were all the same density. Super thick and firm. A call to the front desk offered no alternatives.

Spacious and comfortable room with a beautiful view of the mountains. Very clean and quiet. The outdoor hot tubs are a treat. We also enjoyed our meal at the hotel's restaurant (Good Folk).

Beautiful property with great amenities. Unfortunately the heating unit is very loud and kicked in multiple times throughout the night to hold the room temp resulting in a very broken sleep for us. Disappointing as it looks like they spent lots of money on everything else but noisy heating units is totally avoidable.

Beautiful lobby, front patio, and hot tub areas. The room was nice but small for a Superior Suite. Having a deck outside is enjoyable, but if your room is on the interior, you are looking into another row of rooms. You have to keep your blinds closed for privacy. Banff is pricey, everywhere. A discount for residents of Alberta would be great. For $720 / night, I expected more. The bathroom pocket door didn't close all the way, the hardware in the bathroom was silver in the shower & gold on the sink & towel hooks. The shower head was loose, and I had to tighten it so water didn't spray out of the hose. The TV could only be seen sitting on the couch because it's not mounted on the wall. Just simple things, but makes a $700 room feel like they missed the mark. The on site restaurant, Good Folk, was very good.

The Hotel is very nicely done and location is fabulous. The only thing I can complain about is the AC is 6 inches from the bed, making the air blow right out to one's head. This was clearly not researched in the build out. If you don't need AC, you are golden- if you do, get ready to build a pillow wall to defend your face.

We didn't get mountain view although we were told we would (we saw a little bit of corner of a mountain if we stand all the way at end of our patio) This was very disappointing because we were looking forward to having full mountain view.

Very friendly and helpful staff, from receptionist to cleaners. We were originally going to book another hotel, but am very glad we ended up with Otter Hotel. Their hotpool provides a stunning view to the mountain - great scenery regardless of sun, snow or rain (yes, we experienced all weathers). They also provide a 3 day roam pass which allowed us to explore Banff aplenty.

The hotel is new and very clean, which I really appreciated during my stay. However, the front desk experience could have been better—most of the staff didn’t come across as particularly friendly or welcoming. Also, be aware that depending on the building you’re in, you may need to take two separate elevators to reach your room. This can be a bit inconvenient, especially if you’re carrying a lot of luggage. Overall, a nice property, but with a few areas that could be improved.

Staff were great!

"A nearly perfect stay—starring one supervisor determined to keep it from being perfect." The hotel itself? Spotless, modern, and with views that could make a postcard jealous. The hot pools? Glorious. Most of the staff? Hospitality masters. And then there was that one supervisor, clearly auditioning for “Least Helpful Employee of the Year.” If only his charm matched the rest of the property, this would have been an easy five stars.

Not enough descriptive words to accurately explain this wonderful establishment. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind. Our room was phenomenal with the Mountain View and the super cool no waste, custom coffee and tea program. The dinner at Gold Folk was so good we went twice. We were in the hot pools everyday and were able to chit chat with other lovely hotel guests. (The washroom after the pool was perfect to rinse off! Nice perk!). We enjoyed the hotel, staff, and city so much we added a night to our stay. Would highly recommend staying and eating here. Will hopefully be back!

Excellent location, amenities and staff. We ran into a bit of an issue but the manager fixed it up quickly and professionally. I would reccommend the Otter to anyone going to enjoy the amazing offerings of Banff

Fantastic property. Gorgeous design, amazing staff. In particular the bar staff were great. The hot tubs are amazing with an epic view of the mountains. Bit of a walk into downtown Banff (15/20 mins), but they give you a free Roam bus pass for the duration of your stay so you can get downtown easily. The bus stop is right opposite the hotel.

They gave me the best room for my reserved class. Hotel is at the edge of town. Parking in the downtown area is limited. If you are not up to walking, there is bus outside the hotel. Just saying. Hotel is very nice, loved the outdoor hot tub.

The Otter Hotel was the perfect jumping off point for a quick trip to Banff (4 days/3 nights). The hotel itself is away from the downtown area but is a walkable distance (20 minutes), which is perfect for working off a big meal. The hotel offers complimentary Roam bus passes in the event you don't feel like walking. The hotel itself has an upscale ski lodge feel with the rooms being spacious and well appointed combined with friendly, attentive service. Nice touches include complimentary ground coffee or tea, a tea kettle and pour over coffee maker. Plus, they provide all the necessary toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap and body lotion) and a blow dryer. Other items provided: 2 bathrobes, in room safe, sink, small refrigerator, table with two chairs and tons of pillows. While the bed was king size, it was extremely firm. Also, the bathroom, while spacious with a rain shower, lacked counter space. Also, it would be nice to have another mirror outside the bathroom so not crowded around the one in the washroom. The hotel offers an on-site restaurant that has great reviews, but we chose to go to others around the area (Sudden Sally next door is excellent). The hot tub/sauna/fitness area was a definite highlight of the property. Great place to get a workout in and/or unwind after a busy day hiking around the area. Overall, this is an amazing place to stay at a relative bargain compared to other "high end" hotels. Highly recommended!

The views are beautiful. It’s about a 20-25 minute walk to the downtown area. The hot pools at this hotel were amazing!

Everything about this hotel was 5 stars, the staff was all very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The hotel is off the main strip so it was quiet but still within walking distance of Banff Ave restaurants and shops. The free transit ticket was also a great add on.

Loved this hotel and will stay here again when in Banff. Location was excellent and easy to walk to downtown. The hot tub was amazing and overall a great place to stay at. We stayed 5 nights.

Right at the end of the main drag through Banff. Easy public bus to catch downtown ever. Hot pools were great each night.

Very clean newish property. Nice deck. Bit of a walk to get to downtown area but the hotel provides free bus passes if you do not want to walk or drive yourself. The hot tub pools are relaxing and have avvery nice seating area around them. Front desk staff was friendly and provided good information for our stay. We were offered $25 food credit but did not use it. Room was very nice. It was clean and bed was comfortable. Lots of hot water for our showers. Highly recommend this hotel.

Great experience overall! Staff were really nice and the rooms had a great view. I think the small stuff were all really nice like getting free bus passes, the coffee and tea options, and how accessible the parking is. The outdoor hot tub and fire was cool, definitely can get busy as it's a great way to end your night after a long day out. It is slightly further away from the main area in terms of walking but the bus stop is right outside the hotel, so still very accessible.

Mountain view room was a good view. Restaurant menu not very good. Beds very hard and pillows too thick and very firm. Woke up with stiff neck and and sore back all 3 days we stayed there. No microwave or freezer in the room. For over $700 a night not worth it.

This was one of my most memorable and special trips to date. The hotel exceed my expectations. The restaurant inside the hotel “Good Folk” was a 10/10! I ate multiple times at the restaurant. The scallops were so good I ordered them twice! Hot tub/fire pit area was great. Used it almost everyday. Location is just outside of the hustle and bustle of the main strip. Which was nice

This is a wonderful property, comfortable, great view and easy walk (or bus that ran each 15 minutes) and received a well earned 5 stars. Only let down was the restaurant food, so we chose to eat adjacent to our hotel. A superior hotel.

Civic Holiday weekend excursion to Banff brought us to this hotel. Overall good but as vegetarians, there were zero options for us. With the hotel just at the entry of Banff Ave, it was a task looking for viable options. But overall, we enjoyed our trip!

I highly recommend the Otter Hotel! The service was great, our room was nice (with comfortable beds and an amazing view), and the specialty coffee was incredible. I looked forward to that every morning. My favorite part had to be relaxing in their rooftop hot pools after a long day. I was blown away by the view of the mountains every time. I also highly recommend their restaurant, Good Folk! Their steak dinner for two was incredible, and you have to try their espresso martinis! 10/10 trip.
