Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center

Only one room was available when we arrived and I requested side to side rooms; we lost time to claim that after the room was ready and my wife lost almost an hour. My reservation said check out at noon and the welcome note said 11 am The worse thing was that the wave pool was not available any day and that was the reason why selected the best and newest hotel at SD.

This is a great resort located just south of Downtown San Diego. Our kids loved the lazy river, water slides, and wave pool! This is a very kid-friendly resort with a classy touch. We had a King Suite Bay View room, and it was very spacious and well designed!

Brand new hotel. The staff was perfect, the atmosphere and amenities are all TOP notch. If you have kids they'll love the 4 pools (wave pool, lazy river, water slides) and an arcade. They have a great selection of foods/restaurants. I'll be staying there again

Room was good and comfy. Services at the pool wasn’t good and very slow. Valet was horrible. Stuff in general is not well trained.

Overrated for the price. The tv streaming services were not working. Pool is not heated and hot tub was crowded. Food was good but overpriced, there are better restaurants and bar in the area at 3rd Ave at 1/4th of the price. It was clean, the bed was comfortable and the staff was kind.

Attended a convention and stayed a few days. It was beautiful and new. My son loved the pools and all the activities. The downside was that the pool opened late and closed early so I was unable to sit by the pool before or after work. The property was cashless and the food was very expensive. I guess they expect everyone to be on an unlimited expense account.

I stayed at the Gaylord because I heard it was a great hotel. I liked the idea of a water park on the grounds. The advertisement said 2.3 acres of park. It in fact was very small. They had 2 adult slides, a lazy River ( inner tubes were very uncomfortable), and a wave pool. I liked that there were vest in the wave pool. All in all we were done in 30 minutes because wasn’t much to do. There was nice pool area. Our room overlooked a big dirt lot. The room itself was “ average”. Nothing that justified $500! It had a fridge and a nice TV. I did like the double sink. There was an iron & ironing board. No robes or slippers ( which I’d expect spending that much money)!!! A huge coffee stain on the floor so clearly it hadn’t been cleaned. There were a few restaurants on the grounds. The sports bar was nice. Seemed to be where everyone was. We didn’t try the food but did go in to check it out. The self parking was awful. If you have elderly or someone who can’t walk long distances you better drop them off in the front. Parking is far and it is a long walk to get back to the hotel. Carrying luggage going back to the was not fun. Vallet was $65 so we self parked. The hotel sits on the marina. It’s walking distance and you can rent bikes. But Sorry I would never go back. So many SD hotels. I expected so much more for the price I paid to stay here. Other than the water park there’s nothing to do. I had on the few features they had but they need more slides “ my opinion” .

Overall we had a good, fun experience at the hotel. We spent both days at the pool with our son. He had a blast. The water slides, wave pool, and lazy river really made it a unique experience. This was a staycation for us so the location didn’t matter but it wasn’t the most scenic. The “Mountain View” rooms really just see a building roof, large dirt plot, the freeway, and shops. Areas for improvement * check in line was long and it took awhile once we got up there. We did get upgraded to a higher floor and was able to check in early though which were both pluses! * more umbrellas at the pool- spots were all taken very early. Tons of seats in the sun. Just invest in some more umbrellas. * food service at the pool was a bit slow and our waitress seemed very confused and had a hard time remembering our order * food selection at the pool was really heavy. More lighter fare options would help! * inconsistent application of pool rules- some staff didn’t enforce rules, others did. We didn’t know the first half of the day our son who was under 48 inches was supposed to use a life vest in the wave pool. On the kids water slide one staff member made them go one at a time and closed the door in between each kid. Another guy left the door open and had 2-3 kids at a time going down slides. Could tell some people would get frustrated by the inconsistencies in the rules. * forced to wear wrist bands overnight if you want to use the pool multiple days in a row. Felt like a cattle

Parking was a nightmare. Our dinner was awful in the the manner of not receiving a dish as well as being charged for items we didn’t receive and receiving a dish which had ingredients one patron was very allergic to despite it being noted in the original order. Inconsistent information given at the water slides in regards to height of children. Will never be back.

A nice hotel, but we expected a little more. I paid extra for a "corner bay view balcony suite" but was told that none were ready at check-in. They offered what they said was an "upgrade" to a better room, but it turned out to be just a regular bay view balcony room that I could have paid less for at the time of booking, so I felt a little cheated. Aside from that, the room did have a nice view and was new and clean. I do have to complain about the light timers in the bathroom, they would shut the lights off every 7 seconds (I timed it)... Considering the price that we are paying for this room? I would have preferred not to have to shower and use the toilet in the dark! Also, the AC in the room didn't seem to work properly, we never could cool the room below 77 for some reason. I hope that they fix these kinks soon. The hotel lobby is very pretty, the restaurants are nice but pricey. The quality of our sushi was awesome, and our steak at the Old Hickory was really good with great service. The "speakeasy" was nice, but there was no club or place to dance, which might be a problem for future conventioneers who are used to being downtown. The pools were nice, nothing over the top, not crowded, and much more relaxing than I had expected.

Nice new hotel. Great pool. Great service at the pool. Possibly the best guacamole I have ever had. Will definitely stay again. Beautiful room. Room was clean at first glance but then noticed urine on the toilet seat, some kind of odd dried substance on the bathroom counter, soap tray was soiled from previous guest; tiled floor hadn’t been cleaned in a while, hair from previous guest. I say this because I think the design of those rooms hide dirt well, until they don’t. Housecleaning needs to be vigilante; quick passes won’t cut it. Noticed this in the common areas too. From afar looks fine, up close: dirty. Modern design is tricky… if you wanna do modern ya gotta clean thoroughly. Please take notice, I don’t want this hotel to go downhill and become like Vegas where people just don’t care and charge $500 a night anyway.

Great new hotel. Still working out some kinks. Door lock wasn’t working, shampoo pump was broken, check in and check out lines were extremely long and each person had some issue that the staff didn’t know how to resolve. Not all restaurants are open yet and the rest have some limited hours. Poolside service was excellent. Overall a great place for families. Probably not for a romantic getaway since there are kids everywhere.

It was fine, nothing great or wrong. rooms were very basic for such a price- tried to watch the padres game but couldn’t find seating in the sports bar- seems like locals take over leaving no space for hotel guests.

The resort has been open for a little over 1-month. According to the staff, this was the first busy weekend. They did a great job, though it was clear that they were stressed to keep up. The room was surprisingly quiet - by 10pm, the conventioneers went to bed and the air conditioning was the quietest I have ever experienced. Our dinner at the Old Hickory restaurant was top notch. The staff were knowledable about all of the foods and wines. The water park is medium-sized, has a nice lazy river and wave pool. We would have loved to spend an entire day there. It felt like vegas. We will visit next year when they are in full-swing and definitely for 2-3 nights. Maybe we'll take the trolley and walk!

Great property with fantastic staff!

Elliot was very helpful in resolving issues during the check in process. Other customer service reps were not so helpful and doesn’t know what they are doing.

Love this property, new and clean. Great staff, only con is weekends get packed and busy so valet takes a long time before your vehicle gets to you. Otherwise great for families with kids. This location is so new DoorDash has so much trouble finding it. Otherwise great stay.

Great property, but terrible location. The only negative about the resort is the Immediate Surrounding neighborhood is unsafe. As a Family you do not feel safe walking around. Must stay on property or drive 20 minutes to get in a better location.

Walkable food options outside the property are few. Lots of construction adjacent to the property. Hopefully future development will enhance the neighborhood and support the resort clientele. Food options in the hotel dismal. Not all food venues open yet. Room service option also dismal. Menu options at the open venues too eclectic. Not enough variety options for those wanting typical food items and those with children. High price for poor food quality. Food from the lobby restaurant/bar made three out of three of us sick to our stomachs. Saving grace were the staff and chefs at the Steak House who brought us mashed potatoes, bread, buttered pasta and ginger ale for dinner. Our server Ruben was the best!! The room was lovely. The water park fun and not crowded.

I had a great time attending a convention during my stay at Gaylord! The pool was great and the restaurants had great food! I would love to stay again for another business trip.

This hotel was built mainly for conventions , the pools are just extra for families who are staying with the person attending the convention or seminar.There’s only limited restaurants, food wasn’t great with the price that you’re paying.Staff needs more training.There’s no exclusivity with the use of the pool facility. There’s a lot of outsiders just paying $12 I believe to be able to use the pools.So why would you pay almost $600 per night if there’s a lot of people in the pool area.It’s pretty nice and cool because it’s brand new . They should have done a better strategy for the locals and guests.

Resort can’t handle the people restaurants hard to get into and if you order lunch at pool is poor quality for an example ordered loaded nachos and the men is sliced up hot dogs on them do looks dance and you expect great food but get served dog food

My family went with my seven year-old son, and we loved it, my son couldn’t get enough from the waterpark. The opportunity was with the food, this was food that we had in the pool area, they need to improve the menu the price for the quality is not fully there. But also they are just opened and will get better.

Ridiculous expensive for drinks or food. Hot dog cost 18 dlls that’s ridiculous. Not good service.
