Some of the rooms have a back door that leads to a beautiful garden with tables, chairs and string lighting lit at night! Shaded and beautiful with a lovely water fountain! Fabulous shower! Comfortable bed!

Great property, super clean and nice staff. The property is under construction but didn’t affect us at all. Parking is great and walking distance to the Main Street in Solvang -3 mins walk.

Great little cottage inn. Parking is a bit tight, but lots of street parking in front so no problem. It’s an aged building with charm. All the amenities are great too. Pet friendly yes. I’d recommend this for those who enjoy classical charm of Solvang. A

This is a gem. Lovely boutique inn with tranquil gardens in the back. Got a two-room with a fireplace; traditional decor that felt like someone’s home. Couldn’t have been more pleased.

Room was not ready until almost three hours after check in. Front desk closed 30 minutes earlier than on all posted information, other than the flier included with our key—which we did not have until after the desk closed. Room smelled heavily of cleaning supplies, the floor was still wet and had long black hairs plastered to the tile in the bathroom. There was a gross plunger left outside our door. Even though there was no room above us, it sounded like there were line dancing elephants above our heads all night. We could also hear every creak and squeak from the rooms around us. The place looks very quant in photos, but it’s pretty run down. Advertised cafe on site is also not open. Plus side—walking distance to all things in town, but far enough removed to not deal with crowds of people constantly. Parking on site but very narrow and cramped. Pet friendly, but there is a $45 pet fee, which is not clearly advertised and only in the fine print.

We’re planning a return visit. The interior courtyard was wonderfully peaceful day and night. Easy access to food and beverage for the discriminating palette.

The entire property is under construction. It will be awesome once complete. I feel like they should have been closed during this renovation. It’s A LOT. Depending on when you go be sure the construction is done! Bed is HARD, and platform is kinda high, not the easiest bed to get in. No coffee maker in room, no”continental breakfast”, we had to go out first thing for a cup of coffee!! We wil go back after it’s finished!!!

Parking is an issue! We were there for two nights and had to park on the street both nights because of lack of enough space. After check out, we were surprisingly called regarding the shampoo and conditioner bottles! Those are disposable plastic bottles and must not be reused.

Our stay at The M was good enough, especially for the price. The best part was the location, which was a couple of blocks from the center of town and an easy walk to any restaurants or shops. They also have a really nice filtered water dispenser available to all the guests. Made filling our water bottles really easy. Our first night we didn't have neighbors in the room next to us, so it was pretty quiet. However we got neighbors the 2nd night and they were loud. There was no buffering the sound of them clomping around the room and talking until almost 3 AM. There is no staff on the premises after 6:00 PM either. Additionally, the beds felt old and cheap, they squeaked when we turned over and if you leaned too hard on them, they shifted. There weren't any good options in our room to put our stuff. Lack of surfaces for things like toilettries and charging our devices. Definite lack of outlets for plugging things in. Would I stay at The M again? It wouldn't be my first choice. It's an affordable option, but definitely needs some upgrades to the rooms to make them more comfortable.

Our room, though clean and quiet was rather small with no closet space. The bed was great but the microwave didn’t work. WiFi was spotty. The electric outlet strip on one side of the bed did not work. There are much nicer hotels in Solvang in the same price range. I would not stay there again.

It was a nice little hotel but when we were getting ready for bed my wife noticed all kinds of hair. We removed the comforter and the bed was full of hair. I don’t know if it was dog hair or human or both but it was disgusting.

It was a great quiet hotel and very clean!

Stayed two nights and I never saw any staff members they did not do housekeeping in my room nobody greeted us and the condition of the building was poor, light bulbs not working, the bathroom door couldn’t close properly and couldn’t be locked, bathtub peeling off, and dust all over the room. I would not stay there again and would not recommend this property to anyone

Check in was good, but... ants in the room, 3 tissues in the box of Kleenex,water pressure was weak and had to reprogram the TV to accommodate English. No one in office after 9pm. We'd stayed here before without issue a couple years back. Disappointed this time.

The room smelled like someone had recently vomited in it.

I found several bugs in the room during the stay. I woke up to find a cockroach running across the bed. When I notified the front desk, they claim it’s never happened before and I would be given a discount. I was then ignored and never followed up with. I didn’t even care about a discount until they mentioned it and didn’t fulfill it. I find it unlikely another guest hasn’t experienced this so I wanted to leave a review so they cannot claim this has never happened to the next person that says it

Very Cute property. amazing garden. Room was nice and clean, but it did have a wierd side room where the coffee is inside the room. Nothing wrong with it, just odd. Friendly staff. Will stay again.

I arrived and was cordially received by an attendant in the hotel office. The room was ready before the check-in time which I appreciated because we arrived early to Solvang and it was starting to rain. When I opened the room there was a strong bleach and moldy kind of a smell. It was horrible. My husband and decided to rest but the smell of bleach was so bad, my nose and chest started to hurt. Then my husband started to sneeze uncontrollably. So I went and spoke to the attendant in the office and explained the situation. He was very nice and showed me another room but the bleach stench was atrocious in the second room too. I decided to stay in the first room and just decided to open the windows and went out to have dinner to see if the smell would subside. Came back to the room at about 6:00pm. and realized that the smell was still very prevalent in the entire room. At that point I went back to the hotel office to inform the attendant the smell was unbearable and that I was going to leave the premises. However, the office was closed and left the key in a drop box. I tried contacting the hotel by phone but they had a call service and all they did was take a message. Bottom line I left early. I was there at my check-out time, which was 3pm and left at 6pm, which was about 3 hours later. It is unfortunate that such a charming property on the outside was so uninviting in the inside. The small fridge also.Some furniture looked old and the paint was scraped.

Beautiful gardens. Very nice and roomy bathroom. Could have used access to a microwave.

It’s a charming inn, somewhat older. We had a separate bedroom with a king. The room overall was pretty spacious. It’s a little outdated, no USB ports. There is a wall heat/ac combo in the bedroom that works well and a small heater on the wall in the living room that puts out a little heat. No central air or heat so in the summer you would have to leave the bedroom door open. The bed was hard and very uncomfortable, the pillows kind of flat. We tried to change rooms but all the beds were the same. They were willing to move us if there was a better bed. Definitely not luxury but it was okay for the price. The grounds were very charming. Not too far from downtown but at night it was extremely dark there are no streetlights.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The rooms are brand new, modern, and very comfortable. Overall, the experience was amazing, but there are a few details that could be improved. Connecting to the WiFi was complicated, and after several attempts we ended up using our own data. The new kitchenettes are a great addition, but they felt incomplete since no silverware, plates, or basic cooking utensils were provided. Extra pillows for the sofa bed would also be more convenient if placed in the outside closet instead of having to request them. One last detail: while the glass door in the bathroom looks stylish, it does feel a bit awkward when someone is using the toilet. That said, the hotel itself is excellent and has a lot of potential. With just a few small adjustments, it would be perfect.

Lovely boutique hotel within walking distance of everything to do in Solvang. Quiet too. Only thing I would add is darkening curtains! I like a pitch black room and every door had bright lights on a timer at night. Luckily I had an eye mask.

I would recommend this property for the central location and it's walkable to dining, shopping and sightseeing. On the con side: there is no WIFI; the room was very dated and the furniture was damaged. It was okay for a single night's stay, but would not recommend for a weekend stay.

Nobody is working here, nobody here to greet us when we checked in at 5pm. The room has minimal shower pressure, the hairdryer doesn’t work at all. We tried to get another room and had to call a number only to be directed to an “after hours” off-site guy who said he would check with someone. They texted back saying no other rooms were available, yet the parking lot is empty. Nobody else is here because it’s a sunday. Plenty of rooms available, just nobody working here. Very disappointed.

WOW!! The Marlo is amazing!! When our friends decided to celebrate the birthday in Solvang they shared with us the hotel they were staying at (which wasn't the Marlo btw) to book a room they no longer had rooms available. So I looked to see what hotels that were close to our friends. The Marlo was directly across the street. Not thinking to much we book a room at the Marlo. And let me tell you this I am glad we did!! We travel quite a bit and I have to tell you the Marlo has them beat. From the amazing room to the wonderful staff. We drove out from the Inland Empire and we stopped to spend a good portion of the day in Santa Barbara before heading to Solvang. I received a text message from the staff confirming our arrival time and advised we would be there after 6pm. Being that their office hours are 9a-6p they advised me no worries that they will put my room key in a lockbox and provided me the combination for it. When we arrived a little after 6:30p located the lock box with ease and boom key was there. The next morning I received a text message from the staff asking how our first night was and if there was anything that we would need. Now like I mentioned we travel and have stayed at a lot of 5 star hotels and I can tell you never received that personal attention. We did text asking for some more coffee and coffee cups (I drink a lot of coffee) and they replied instantly we weren't in our room at the time however they asked for our permission to deliver them to the room

When we checked out, an additional $20 charge was added to our bill. When we questioned this charge, we were told that it was a "service fee" for towels, coffee in the room, etc. Very shady.

Our trip started off way later than we planned and we were stressed out that the MSolvang would be closed by the time we arrived for check IN. The staff conveniently left our keys for us in a drop box. The area was so quiet and peaceful at 9pm at night. The room looked very historic danish and would be almost believable if it wasn't for the modern TV on the wall lol. The shower was remodeled and VERY nice. This is not immediately on the main strip of town but a short walk and you are having a nice meal in the middle of it all. The parking was right outside of your rooms in a motel style lot. This was definitely a reasonable room price for a few nights stay. It's a clean room and comfortable bed. There are no electric chargers at this location, but 2 are up the street 5 min walk.

The property is so close to town that you can walk there. Tons of good food options near by. Room was clean when we arrived and property was decorated for Christmas.

Amazing boutique property. Nice staff members who helped with a quick check in and check out. The rooms were newly renovated with modern amenities. AC and Microwave in the room worked very well. Lot of dining options nearby at a walkable distance. Ample parking in front of the rooms. We had a very comfortable stay.

This is a lovely, quiet, well-maintained hotel located a couple of blocks off the main center of the town of Solvang. Not too far in the other direction is Alisol Ranch and the golf course. Other than the beautiful front garden, and a smaller grassy area in the back, there are few amenities to speak of. At least there's a Keurig in the room and nice shampoo, conditioner and liquid soap. It would be nice if they offered a continental breakfast, especially since there are lots of bakeries in town.

If you have pets, this property is the place. The front garden area is perfect for a glass of wine, beautiful roses and plenty of grass for your pet. The back garden area is also extremely nice with a large grass area, tall shade trees and a few of the rooms even have a back door that opens directly to the courtyard area. I believe those rooms are mostly queen beds but having access to this beautiful back yard right from your rear door is fantastic. The property is about 3 blocks from the main street which is an easy walk and more quiet then right on Mission Drive. Plenty of parking on-site. There is a vintage motorcycle museum right across the street which is open on weekends. Be sure to check out Paula's Pancake House for breakfast which has outdoor seating, great Danish pancakes, and pet friendly. Lastly, if you need to pickup wine or groceries, there is a New Frontier store only a couple of miles away. It reminds me of a small Whole Foods.

We enjoyed our stay at The M Solvang hotel. The location provided excellent walking proximity to the shops and restaurants in solvang. The hotel property seemed quite dated and the amenities in the room were certainly not upscale. It was almost as if they slapped a new sign on an old hotel, the Solvang garden inn or whatever it used to be, and haven't really done anything since. The hotel manager was friendly, and mentioned they will be doing some significant updates to the property, so it would be nice to come back and see how it looks in a few months.
