Great location. Close to many restaurants. Beautiful view. Staff were absolutely amazing and helpful. Very much impressed by all the valet workers. All of them went above and beyond and were as pleasant as could be. Thank you for a nice stay.

Structure and amenities are good. We have had our reservations for months ~ staff from check in to housekeeping and its inspection process was failing on the day of our arrival ~ which by the way was 4:00! We checked in ~ they checked us in under the wrong reservation ~ after taking our payment the error was uncovered ~ so two check ins to start ~ were told if there were billing errors we would need to work that out with Expedia ~ who had nothing to do with the check in error. We were left to occupy ourselves in the bar until the staff could inspect our upgraded room. Over an hour later notice of the prepared room comes and we need to claim our keys in another long que. we appreciate the upgrade yet the disappointment at the value and service for the price are totally underwhelming. Having had 2 great recent experiences at Gaylord properties we are contemplating returning to Hyatt!

Room needs remodeling desk was old and chipped wallpaper had slight separation and was curling. Bathroom was great shower and very good bath. Room safe was good. Internet was slow. I am being very picky but for the price you should be. They had a nice band playing by the bar it was not too loud at the bar but the acoustics made quite loud on the 12th floor. Great location for van Andel. The walk there felt somewhat safe.

The elevators were a huge problem. Two of the 4 were completely out of order. The one we used, was making a very loud grinding noise, and shaking back and forth while we were on it with about 8 people total. Then, it wouldn’t stop. Thankfully someone in the 19th floor pressed the button to get on and we were finally able to get off. We all thought we were going to die. It just kept going up and it was terrifying. When we reported it and told the front desk, they barely apologized and didn’t seem to care. I will never return to this hotel. It is expensive and supposed to be one of the best. I will take my business across the street to the Amway Grand.

Room, bar all very nice. Will need to drive for dining selections and shopping but parking was convenient and car was easy to get in and out of parking

The steam room has a lot of mold in it. The room had a refrigerator that made a loud noise that kept us awake. Dinner was delivered cold twice ( got compted because of it so that’s ok ) the spa was ok but the person giving me my treatment gave me his life story which was not conducive to relaxing. They say it’s champagne in the spa but it’s actually cheep Prosecco. Still tasted ok though. Staff were really nice.

Our parking wasn’t the best experience. I wish we were told to keep our room key so that we could get out of the parking garage. We had to pay through the hotel for overnight parking, and pay again leaving the parking garage. We’re trying to get that settled.

Check in/out was fast and clerks were friendly! Was not told about breakfast (where or when) when checking in! You do have to pay for parking which I didn’t know at the time $36 a day but it is convenient! Room was nice with city view but that’s about it! I found a few hairs in the tub and the beds and pillows were rock hard I had the worst back ache in the morning! Also the sides of bed had stains all over the fabric and the decor is very minimal for what I paid a night $378 plus $36 for parking! I could not stay her again mainly because of the beds!

We enjoyed our short stay at this hotel. Very nice property that is clean and beautiful. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating too! Comfortable rooms with great views. I would definitely stay here again.

Very nice hotel overall. The staff were very friendly, the restaurant is amazing, along with the wait staff. The view from room was amazing. I unfortunately didn't get a chance to hit the bar, but it looked like a cool spot. But I must admit, I was unhappy with the cleanliness of my room. There was trash behind the entertainment stand, there were crumbs under the chaise lounge, the side of the bed had stains on it, the baseboard trim was covered in dust along with and there wasn't a single piece of furniture in my room that wasn't damaged in some way. You'd think for the price they charge per night they'd take have higher standards for the appearance of their rooms.

The room was very outdated and small. The orange carpet was coming up all over the room. The bed was hard and feather pillows were very flat. Shower had hair in it and overall small bathroom. Apparently need reservations for breakfast, we didn’t know ahead of time. Overall not worth the money spent

We had a great stay at the JW Marriott. The facility is extremely clean. The view from the hotel is great. The service personnel were helpful and pleasent.

There was loud construction noise coming from the floor above us from 8:30am until 5:00pm both days we were guests. When we brought it up to the front desk staff, we were told that someone in management would contact us. No one has called or emailed. On top of this, the rooms are very dated, the bedding is poor at best and the amenities are virtually nonexistent.

Booked a single king but was given a double full or queen. Not enough time to discuss with front desk and try to get a new room had somewhere we had to be. Bed was extremely uncomfortable, very stiff.

at $350 per night with a breakfast, I expect quality pillows and a hot buffet. Pillows should have been replaced years ago and the breakfast buffet ($50) was cold and awful.

I hate to write a negative review because the front desk the staff is very sweet, but this is not a 4-5 star property and not worth $600 for one night. Here is what went wrong for the little staycation we had this past Saturday: 1. (Not the fault of the hotel, but still did not help The experience) we ended up opting for a stay the same weekend as prom and a wedding. We could hear noise up and down the hallways through about 2:30 in the morning. Terrible experience. 2. The AC would not work for us until about 3 am. We were sweating like pigs the entire night. We tried to get it to come on but it just wouldn’t work for us. And when it did kick over and turn on, the power/output is very very low. If we had gone just a week prior no problem, but the temps are starting to get warmer outside, so wrong time for the AC to not kick on. 3. The bed. Oh…my…goodness. We have stayed at 200 hotels in our life and this had to be the worse bed we have ever slept on. It was like sleeping on a slab of concrete. 4. (Again…not the fault of the hotel, but it didn’t help)…. We purchased a voucher to the French bistro for breakfast. One little problem… staying at the hotel does not necessarily guarantee you a spot in the restaurant, especially while a private birthday event is taking place. We tried to get seating at 10:50 and the earliest spot they had was 12:20. By that time we were gone.the staff did give us a credit though. Just not good. barely worth $250 a night let alone $603.

The best part of this hotel is the esthetics of the lobby and hallways and the shower water pressure. Noise level was doable, they have live music in the lobby, truffle fries at the bar were great. The only issue was the bed and pillows, very thin and the mattress is not the most comfortable.

The room seemed sound proof. Furniture was very nice and artfully decorated.

We were very impressed with the service and friendliness of each staff member we encountered during our stay. Our only complaint was the mattress in our room 1107. The mattress was too firm and very uncomfortable. My husband and I both struggled to fall asleep due to the mattress. Other than that issue, the hotel is a 10!

Not the end of the world, but this was our first time we’ve tried a virtual check in. As an aside, if someone has purchased breakfast as part of the stay, I would recommend forcing a reservation at booking - give the guests first option, as we were relegated to a much earlier time than what we would have preferred, even though we booked two months ago.

Always a pleasant experience at the JW Marriott in downtown Grand Rapids. Excellent choice.

Great hotel, good staff. The restaurant is very good. The software between the hotel an Expedia did not connect well and they had to take 10 minutes to find my confirmation number.

JW Marriott did not disappoint. Everything from valet service to check-in was top-notch. The rooms, beds, and amenities were clean and maintained very well. This overnight stay was a real treat. We will definitely return to this property again without hesitation.

The room had a great view, dinner and breakfast was excellent. Everything was perfectly clean. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. The suite next to us was super loud with yelling, banging, and fighting until 3 AM out in the hallway as well as in room, and that’s not the hotels fault but when I called to get help they did nothing.

Very nice Hotel with excellent staff. Great Downtown location on the river. This is our favorite place to stay when we visit Grand Rapids.

This was out first stay at the JW and it was good overall. The location is fantastic and the shower in the bathroom was great. I've stayed at many similarly priced hotels before and this one was just middle of road based on the price point. The top selling point of this hotel is easily the location.

Homeless and panhandlers if you walk out of property, paid for executive floor but was closed, no service. Staff in restaurant was excellent, food prep suspect. Will not return.

From check-in to valet parking to restaurant, the Marriott staff provided the best in courtesy and service. The cuisine at Margaux was excellent!

I stay in Marriott hotels ALL the time. I think for the price this one was a bit underwhelming. Except for the delicious omelet the breakfast buffet was just mediocre. Most food was barely warm and bacon very under cooked for our taste.

The entire stay was absolutely perfect. The food was excellent, the room was great and the staff were warm and friendly. Would highly recommend...
