Columbus Grand Hotel & Banquet Center

There were a number of challenges with this stay, none insurmountable. They key reader for my son's room went off all night the first night, keeping him awake. Apparently the battery needed changing. There was no security for the back door. The rescue squad was outside our room twice over two days, and the mini-fridge and microwave advertised were absent from our room upon check in. The laundry was also not working. The bed was quite comfortable, and the staff were working hard.

Drum beat was excessive and loud interfered with checkin as party room was directly across from check in desk. It was noisy with people and children in parking lot and near outside door. Outside door lock was broken and anyone could enter the hotel. There was no remote for tv that worked. The bed was very nice and the room was clean.

I stay last second and was fairly cheap. First the lamp was broke...bulb hanging. Went to put drinks for morning in fridge/ freezer and it didnt work. So went to get ice from down the hall and it didnt work went down a floor and it didnt work either. So went to vending machine to get a drink and it didnt work either. Ended up going to desk and buying water. Then all night people in and out of rooms. Then to beat all at 4am there was someone beating on door across hall. Someone was in trouble for something it was security or something for at least 30 min or more. Needless to say very disappointed.

Well the ice machine downstairs was broken you had to go upstairs to get ice. But I'm handicapped I Don't do stairs. Then I seen roaches later that night and prayed I didn't take any home. Only stayed 1 night after that.

They showed breakfast area online but did not have any offered. Failed to advise us that there would be parties and loud music happening past 2:00 AM (seemed like there was a prom or something). Room floors were not clean, and a lot of the furniture is in poor condition (wood stripped on bed side table, ceiling with old water damage, crack in wood by window, and a musty smell in the room).

Most of the vending machines were out of order,the ice machine on the floor I was on didn’t work. And I was excited cuz they said they had a gym…that was out of order as well.

This was the perhaps the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed in. I had to try and hopd my breath, literally, for the stairwell to the room. The most telling thing? Had to buy ice at the gas station. How much upkeep are you doimg of EVERY ice machone on property is brokem....JUST DONT

No elevator the hallways smelled like urine, The bed frame was broken so the head of the bed sunk down like two feet lower than the rest of the bed... The bathroom counter was covered in white dust because the ceiling above it had fallen from water damage... And around one a m someone who had been sold the same room tried to keep code their way into the room where I was sleeping. Before anybody jumps on here and calls me boujie.... I am country born and raised.And have slept on piles of hay and dirt.That felt cleaner and safer than this hotel.

It was so dirty!!! The vending machine were broken, atm machine was broken! The ac/heater did not work and the safe was dead. 0/10 go to red roof plus.

Saw roaches, no ice, stairwell smelled like a goat farm. The place would make a better parking lot.

From the time we walked in, the entire place was filty. There was food all over the carpets in the hallway. Getting into the room, there were stains all over the carpets and walls. The paint was flaking off the ceiling in the bathroom and the towels were either stained or not washed. The water pressure was barely enough to rinse the soap off. The "sealed" cup on the counter had been opened and had water sitting in it showing that it had been used. The plastic was tucked back in it to make it appear to be unused. There were little kids running up and down the hallway until around 2AM. We sprung for the room with a jacuzzi tub to relax in, but it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while, so we passed. On a good note, we checked the bed and found no bedbugs and the mattress was pretty comfortable. It wasn't enough to overcome the deplorable condition of the rest of the entire building.

Unless you want to get bit up by bed bugs and have roaches and a mouse crawling around your room spend the extra money to stay somewhere else. Seriously if you’re thinking about staying here DONT. I’m all about saving money and I didn’t wanna believe the other reviews but for the money I have had to spend due to the bedbugs (anti itch cream, urgent care, laundry mat, a steam cleaner to get them out of my car), I could’ve stayed somewhere nice and saved myself a lot of stress. Never again.

It’s dirty, my first room had a rotten piece of fruit as soon as I walked in. Stains on the walls, and sheets. Ants crawling in the bathroom. There was roach by the couch in the lobby and the garbage isn’t being taken out by the vending machines. Food is on the carpets walking down the halls. Terrible and uncomfortable

So besides the fact that my sheets had cigarette burns in them, the paint was chipping off everything, the plastic baseboard was peeling off the wall, screws were missing on the TV so it was in a fixed downward tilt, several various bugs crawling in and on my bed, the domestic violence that was occurring at the entrance to the hotel, the smell of weed in my non-smoking room upon entry.....yeah....you get what you pay for, but what you pay for doesn't go far these day either. Oh and the communal microwave was missing when I went to reheat my dinner....so either some one stole it or management took it to prevent it from being stolen. I get a hotel in Columbus almost every year for a convention and I try different hotels each time. In 14 years, this is by far the worst hotel I have ever been to. I just wish I decided to take pictures before leaving to showcase just how terrible it really is.

Disgusting, black mold , leaking ceiling soaking bed , no refund , no discount, nothing done about it , worst place ever

This was worst hotel I have ever went to in life there was roaches, the bathroom was absolutely disgusting, the room had dirty towels, the shower was dirty, and the bedding was dirty. I had to make them give us new bedding and towels. They also charged a deposit of 75.00 that is not listed in the information for the hotel.

Disgustingly horrible not clean at all stayed in the non-smoking side, but it smelled like cigarette place is truly filthy. Horrible horrible place to stay, but if you can’t find nothing else and you got 50 bucks then that’s the place.

It was way better then expected. Room was very clean the bathroom was very clean. The ac worked without issue. It was very quiet and we felt safe. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Extremely Dirty Hotel with roaches in the room and trash in the hallways

The sink was clogged up, tv remote was not compatible with tv so I had to use my phone, there was a set of ridiculous rules that shouldn’t be exist considering the quality of the room, freezer had dirty ice stored in it, Best part was the bed being comfortable.

It’s clearly in need of renovation/repair. Desk staff was polite and the room was adequately clean. Refrigerator and microwave were both working well.

Booked this hotel last minute, lobby floor sticky, smelled musty, no key just a number pad). Hallways smelled so gross and the stairwell was even worse. Cockroach in the stairwell :( checked the bed for bedbugs and the mattress appeared newer and had a zipper mattress protector. Wasn’t too bad comfort wise. Only two lamps had lightbulbs and the tv remote didn’t work even after getting another one from the desk. Shower had a dead fly and just looks dated! Toilet and sick was normal but the bathroom was so muggy, no fan. Overall I wouldn’t stay here again, but if you don’t mind that stuff go ahead!

First room they gave the sink was not connected to the wall so the cleaning service didn't report it and the fawset wouldn't shut off. They moved me to a room next door that was much better but had no remote for the TV. I won't be staying there again that's for sure.

Yes this hotel needs some upgrades, yes it’s not the cleanest in the common areas but if you just need somewhere to crash overnight it’s just fine. We stayed after a concert it was the only hotel available. We didn’t have a TV in our room- but they informed us and it was fine considering we were tired. There was a party going on in the conference area so we expected it to be loud in our room but was quiet. Our room could have been a little cleaner but the sheets were clean and smelled good. We checked the room for bugs didn’t see any. Shower was clean and almost hot. Could’ve had a little more pressure. Our only big red flag was our door. You had to pick it up to shut it and it barely locked. We barricaded it with a chair although we didn’t feel unsafe on the property. The guy who checked us in was nice. We arrived at 12am ish, left by 8am. If you need somewhere to sleep in a bind it’s just fine. If they put some money into the property I think it could definitely be decent but needs an overall.

Staff is kind to you if you are kind to them. AC doesnt work properly, even though the unit is in there. Not cleaned properly, food and dirty hand prints stuck on the wall. I killed a roach in the bathroom and the main bathroom light didn't work, but it did have a sub light. Sheets were old and the carpet isnt clean. Put your things higher up and have extra sheets for your bed.

One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at. Upon going into the property I was greeted with a foul oder of weed among other things. The code lock to my room was glitching several times & at one point it took me a solid 5 minutes of trying to put in the code before I could even settle down. The room wasn't any better either. The TV didnt work, the bathroom door was broken & had a dead cockroach in it, the curtains had many holes in it & it also smelled of weed. The only upside I can really give it is that they did come to make my bed anytime I was out of the hotel & they replaced the trash but that was about it. I would not recommend this hotel for anyone, even if you're trying to budget, it's not worth the trouble.

Had to wait at the desk for several minutes without any staff to check me in. Charged a $100 deposit that I was not aware was necessary. The outside of the facility looked to be run down, however, the inside of the building and the rooms were in better condition. Not great condition, but better condition.

The front desk are very very nice and so helpful to me!

When we arrived for check in, we found out that our room was cancelled because we used Expedia and did not prepay but chose to pay upon check in. We are in town for the Sonic Temple, Ohio’s largest rock music festival. We booked months in advance and there are no hotels available this weekend for months before the event. Apparently the hotel called me during Metallica and I didn’t hear my phone ring. They called because they had inquiries about same day booking so because I didn’t answer my phone they cancelled my room and gave it to someone else. When we entered it smelled terrible. I thought at first it was the concert attendees in the lobby but it was the entire hotel. The staff member at the desk attempted to help. He asked us if we would be ok with a room without a shower because it was all they had left. Knowing every other hotel was booked I said yes. The room wouldn’t unlock and when he finally got us in it was absolutely disgusting. Technically the room had a shower, it was just filled with filth. There were empty toilet paper rolls and dirt in the bathroom. The furniture had scuffs and gunk on them. The tv had a cracks in it. There was a broken safe on the ground. Between the mattresses there were food crumbs and a small insect of some sort. The walls were paper thin and we could hear everything the people next door were saying and “doing”. We left immediately. We did get a refund but this place was absolute trash. We slept in the car versus in this place.

The property approved the stay even though the person who booked was under 21, but could not issue any accommodations. Additionally, staff wasn't the nicest and the surrounding area was pretty dangerous.

You get what you pay for. Felt very unsafe, draws a very bad crowd, sheets were stained with fresh makeup. carpet had stains everywhere, smell of weed, security threatening to call the cops on the people next door for the first 2 hours we were there.

It was over 100 degrees in hallway. The smell just kept getting worse. When we opened the door to the stairway the smell was so strong you had to hold your nose and run.the roo. Waz dark dirty and smelled so bad we just left. Tried to get a refund still waiting. A drug deal was happening in front of the lobby money exchanged and package gi en in a secret way.
