We told them we were checking out early because of the bugs and they refused to refund the 2nd night even though it was before regular check out time! Elevator was broken as was the pool! The pictures are not anything like the actual disrepair of the hotel

It was a good stay , it was just a slight inconvenience at the hotel where they couldn’t make room keys. The wait time was about 40 min. Also the indoor hot tub was not available & pool wasn’t clean.

Friendly staff, but went here because it also offered a hot tub with the indoor pool. Turns out the 'indoor' pool is connected to the outside. Making it unuseable in the winter and the hot tub is out of service. Also, airport shuttle only goes to hobby not george bush. It's only 5 min to hobby airport. Plenty of hot water in the shower with good water pressure.

Great potential! But in reconstructive stages ! Air didn’t work in living room and the carpet is disgustingly dirty sticky and stained ! POOL CLOSED INDOOR AND OUT Reallly need a DEEP CLEANING

Someone got their wheels stolen in front of the hotel.

Front desk person was attentive and friendly. Breakfast was okay but eggs were lukewarm. If you need a shuttle keep calling. The phone isn't always answered. The shuttle driver was great.

This hotel has a Poverty mentality. They ask for a deposit up front. Cant understand front desk staff. Might as well have breakfast items under lock and key. No machines in fitness center worked. There is no attention to detail to this rundown property.

They were stealing stuff from the cars at the parking lot.

Stains on furniture, no towels at all, did not give us more towels when we called so we had to go downstairs for them. Breakfast was only waffles and yogurt, our room key stopped working and we had to get a new one. Neighbors and people in the parking lot were partying all night. Really rough hotel and area.

Upon entering the hotel, it smelled dirty. When we entered our room, there was a live roach on our door. The hallway had food crumbs on the carpet for the whole stay (weekend). Light fixture had stuff leaking. Just overall, not a good place.

This hotel is old and the pictures are deceiving. The carpets are heavily stained and need to be pulled up. The tub in the bathroom is rusty and there was tissue in the vents. There are stains all over the walls and fabric bed rails(I think that's what it's called). The elevator stopped working, and the pool area wasn't working properly. After checking the sheets and looking for bedbugs, I can say at least the sheets appeared to be clean. There were also a few roaches that came out of hiding, and that was it!! We IMMEDIATELY gathered our bags after shaking them out and left. I will say the staff was friendly, and they do serve breakfast, but we didn't eat it. I politely let the front desk know and she said she would let someone know about the issues. I only need the room to rest before hitting the road to continue our travels. I definitely wish I'd read the Google reviews and not the ones on hotels.com. I guess you get what you pay for!!

Our tub was dirty in our first room. We went to tell the front desk and he moved us to another room where the outlets by the bed did not work in this tub was slightly more clean than the last but still dirty overall. We showered with shoes. There was also scraping above our room at 6 AM to about 8 AM on both nights we stayed. We also noticed dirt buildup by the AC unit and stains on the bed skirts of the beds.

The room was clean, but had a lot of damage. There was a broken mirror closet door, ripped shower curtain, large carpet stains, and mold on the ceiling above the window. I also did not see any vending machines. They had breakfast, which was nice, and the hotel and room was pretty clean.

Room had dirty blanket and sheets on both beds. Dirty carpets and clumps of something on floor. …. Staff was very good though. Gave us clean sheets (that we put on), got us a tv controller because it was missing. We arrived late and were there to sleep for one night only, actually about five hours, or we would’ve never stayed and would have relocated for sure.

First they could not find our booking. Then the room they gave us had mold behind the bed and blood stains on the floor. The front desk moved us immediately To a different room that had roaches. The only good thing i can say about the stay is that the front seat lady was nice.

Nasty rooms

False advertising, the hotel is dirty, smells like pure bleach and cigarettes all around the rooms. Everything including all the counters were dirty in my room. Curtains and blinds were broken into pieces, toilet and bed had stains on them. This was so bad I checked out within 2 hours of being there

This property is a scam the pictures are not at all what it looks like on the inside. We drove for 15hours the day of our trip and just wanted to go to bed instead we were welcomed to the smell of mold and mildew. We got to the first room and there were stains everywhere and cockroaches everywhere. And there was mold and what looked like black mold in the room. We went through 3 different room changes and all of them were the same. When we complained the the staff he didn’t seem phased by the fact the rooms where disgusting. He was as extremely helpful and understanding though we got transferred to a new hotel without having to pay for the price difference. But I do not recommend booking with this hotel.

When we arrived I had to use the restroom but was told it was for employees only. So I had to check in while needing to pee badly. Second the AC was horrible, room was hot. The carpets were badly stained and there was a live roach in the bed. Never will stay here again!!!

The hotel itself was great. The only issue was I had no hot water in my room all 3 days. Biggest problem. Nice area. Amenities were good. Water was bad

Pros: Clean,nice hotel ,no pests. Cons: You could hear the highway very clearly from the room.

Parking is convenient. Great restaurant next door that serves wonderful Brunch as well as lunch/dinner. Also a Wffle House and Dennys less than a mile away. Plenty of convenient stores. The hotel is not five star. You get what you pay for. It’s clean enough for me. I didn’t see anything wrong with the cleanliness. Old yes and shabby. The King suite is huge and the room is separated, they need to purchase new TVs but I don’t go to the hotel to watch the Telly.

Was put in a room that was recently shampooed, strong chemical smell had to change rooms. Yo close to highway was very noisy

Don’t waste your time here. They only had one person working the front desk at all times. The girl that was working that day had to be running back and forth doing ten different things at once and had a line of people waiting to be checked in and I overheard her telling all the guests in front of me that all the rooms still had to be cleaned. I had a two night stay reserved and the day after I had checked in, my room key had been deactivated so I had to waste about 20 minutes waiting my turn just to get it activated again. Rooms were not very clean. The carpet in my room was all stained and the water in the bathtub would not drain after taking a shower. Not to mention the musty smell when you walk into the room. Not too many options either for restaurants or shops close by.

Everything is disgustingly dirty. The elevators don’t work. Bed are not great. And the Mexican restaurant next to it had extremely loud music hours past midnight.

I was expecting so much more from the website, until i got there and was greeted by a rude young lady at the front desk. There is a $100 incidental charged (per room) in case you decide to steal those paper thin curtains. We then proceed to our room and on the way we see holes in the ceiling near the lobby, we see buckets set up to catch water and the place reeked of mold. We get to our rooms and the rooms weren't clean. We found lashes on the side of the nightstand, earrings on the floor, red stains in the carpet, hair on the bathroom floor and again, the room reeked of mold. I went to the front desk to speak with management, but of course she wasn't there. I called guest relations and was told the complaint would be escalated. We had to book a room elsewhere due to me being allergic to mold. So i am now out of almost $1k on hotel charges. And they are refusing to refund my money although i did not stay here at this filthy hotel. This case has been escalated 5 times and still have not been refunded.

It took 20 minutes to check in because only one employee was working. This is fine, but when we finally got into our room and were settled, the people behind us in line had been given the same room and room key. They opened our room and we both scared each other. They went down to straighten it out, but our key wasn't working. The lady needed to be more professional about it. They also stated they had breakfast but ran out of waffle batter at 8 in the morning, and took forever to refill it. They also only have waffles, juice, and coffee for breakfast. It is not worth it. They are very unprofessional.

After having a horrible experience at a hotel 30 minutes before. We checked in and the lady at the front desk was amazing. Couldn’t thank her enough.

Good Customer Service

Stayed 3 nights, didn't know I had to request for them to clean room everyday, had front desk said they would bring me bags for trash never received had to her fresh towels.

My stay at the Sonesta Essential Houston Hobby Airport property was one of the worst stays I’ve ever experienced. We booked our stay at the airport on the day of our stay. I’ve stayed at many Sonesta properties in the past so I felt comfortable booking this location. Little did I know what I was stepping into. I called the property approximately 30 times to no avail. It kept sending me to an answering and text service. The text came through 45 mins after the initial call. My mother tried calling as well as airport staff trying to help. I tried TJ arrange for shuttle pickup and that never happened. We had to uber. Upon arrival, the front desk worker appeared lackadaisical as I explained to her that the phone system appears to be down and no one replied to the numerous texts. I called the number in front of her and she looked stunned that the phone wasn’t ringing. We got a room w/a broken shower. I had to go to another room to shower. The attendant at the front desk, Alex made sure he ruined our stay. Constantly picking at my kids and making unnecessary remarks.

I had a 38 min wait to get checked in. There isn’t a public restroom available in the general area only for staff. I booked a king suite was given a basic handicap room. I complained to the receptionist he didn’t want to change my room. The carpets recked which caused the room to have an odor. Breakfast wasn’t on time and closed early. 1 Elevator didn’t work the other definitely needs maintenance. The second day of my stay my key on longer worked and again the receptionists slow and rude she didn’t want to provide her name. She wasn’t aware of how the booking process worked she was having to call other people to help guide her thru the check in process.

The hotel has potential but its transition to new administration proved to be a problem for us. I picked this hotel because of the airport shuttle and breakfast. It’s a lift service, but they did not communicate that. So I edited for an hour at the airport while trying to contact the hotel staff for clarification.The name change and the phone change confused everyone. I got stuck. So, communicate more the details in Expedia. The staff was very attentive. I do appreciate that!!but they said breakfast was 6 to 9 but there was no breakfast. I just left. I called ahead and said that our flight was delayed and we would be later than we thought. The person on the phone said you have until 3 am. That was okay. We get to the property, first there is no signage stating the name of the hotel, second while i understand why the doors are locked overnight, when someone comes in to check in, please don't act like we are bothering you. The person at the front desk was very dry, i wouldn't say rude, but he did act like we was bothering him. Instead of him asking me what method of payment i wanted to use, he snaps at me, "your card on file was declined." I stated to him, i dont even know what card you "have on file," but this is the one i want to use. He didnt tell us where the elevators were, didnt mention breakfast, nor check out time. Fine, however, when i asked about breakfast he points to the wall. Fast forward, we are in the beds sleep. I feel something crawling on me. Its a freaking roach. A bit later i wake up, because now i cant sleep, and i look over to my daughter's bed and there is yet another roach crawling up her bed . Ugh Breakfast was a joke, i go down and i know that they use liquid eggs, but there is a way to make them and jot have them look grey. The sausage they nuked them so bad you couldnt eat them. They had a waffle maker and although i sprayed it it waffle stuck so bad to the machine that i couldn't get it out. Asked for assistance and the woman says that its 10:02 and its time for her to close up. So many issues

This is an old Drury property and the exterior looks ok. The standards are very low and this property is very tired. They hold a $100.00 deposit for up to two weeks, which was a surprise. Spend the extra money further away from hobby. I’ve stayed at several and this area is in a sad state and unsafe!!!

This hotel is not in a safe area. They are 45 minutes from George Bush airport so they won’t send you a shuttle. I didn’t find this out until I got to the airport. Also the rooms are old and dirty, carpet had several stains and the carpet turned my socks black. There also is no food near so you need a car to find a place to eat. It says room service on the page but they have no restaurant. They can’t even follow guests requests, I asked to cancel my wake up call and they called me 3 times an hour later with a wake up call! And at times there is no one at the front desk. They have a hiring sign out as they most likely don’t have employees. I never saw any guests the 3 days Ibwsd there. Don’t stay at this hotel find something close to the other airport downtown. The info on Travelocity is not correct. Read the other reviews on this hotel. Beware!

Easy to get to location and clean

Hotel is obviously in the midst of an upgrade. You can still find some items of the former named hotel around. TVs, bedding, carpet all newer upgrades. Breakfast needs some work, but change tales time and plenty of breakfast spots close by. Great Mexican restaurant next door.

Great location for a one night stay prior to a flight. Common areas and carpet in the room are dirty.

Breakfast was not decent , eggs were disgusting, potatoes looked just boiled waffle maker timer broke, milk expired Rooms were ok hotel property not clean, tons of trash bagged and put by doorway piled up, ice machine broken. Would not recommend

Expedia should give proper information. When the hotel says free shuttle service from airport .they should or you should specify which Airport. The free shuttle is only to Hobby airport not to George Bush airport .I ended up paying $90 to and return for Uber. Compliment breakfast it's worst . At least No water provided. You are in hospitality industry.if basic needs are not met not a good sign.

I love the breakfast.

The breakfast was non existent. We went down at 745 am and there was a drop of milk and 4 pieces of white bread. The waffle mix was way watered down and the waffles tasted rancid. The carpet in our room was filthy and two rooms on our hall were barricaded by plastic tarps. There was also a roach in the bathroom. The sheets were stained. The outside of the property was somewhat overgrown and there were prostitutes outside at 8:00 a.m.

Free shuttle service from the airport? They sent a Lyft to pick us up. Four of us with all of our luggage crammed into a sedan. We wanted to shower when we arrived, but only one towel. Went to the front desk to ask for towels and they don't have any. Room smells like smoke and hallways like pot. Woke up in the morning and went to front desk, still no towels. I figured I would check out the Continental Breakfast while I was there. No hot foods at all.. Very disappointed in this stay....

Continental breakfast was less than average. The hotel employee was not putting out the cream cheese for the bagels but if you asked her she would give you 1 at a time. She was only putting like 6-8 yogurts at a time. It was all very ridiculous and sad when it came to the continental breakfast.

I just wished the breakfast options each morning would have changed up a bit. At least add bacon, REAL orange juice and not Sunny D and freanch toast sticks. But front desk staff was amazing and available when I needed them. Rooms condition was worse than the pictures online and walls were filthy, had to ask to get a table or something clean by the front desk as cleaning staff was just chatting away.
