Solmar Resort Optional All Inclusive

It’s overall great. Staff is wonderful and super helpful and accommodating. Food is great! Beware you have access to the beach BUT it’s only for watching! The resorts facing the pacific are not deemed safe for swimming. We walked (10 min) to Empacadora beach, where they rent umbrellas and chairs. Family friendly, small. Go preferably on weekdays. Very close to the marina too. We enjoyed it.

Small and excellent. 2 pools. No seat saving. Excellent food with good service. All inclusive available but each room also has a kitchen. Non swimmable beach with big waves and can get some wind which cools things off nicely. Would recommend!

Wonderful gem close to downtown activities and shopping. It was about a 15 minute walk to the marina and the heart of downtown. Staff were very attentive and friendly especially Leylani who did all the activities by the pool. The rooms are a bit dated but very clean and well kept. All amenities except the pool at the Grand Solmar next door can be used by Solmar guests. Be aware that the beach here is not swimmable due to extremely strong waves and a sharp drop-off but is great to stroll on and watch the waves.

Excellent location, soft bed, hot showers, cold pool, warm hot tub, good restaurant and Quiet vibe while less than 1 mile from the marina.

The property itself is extremely well located and beautiful. Much nicer than I expected for the money when I booked. However, you cannot go in the ocean, they don't allow it due to Shorebreak whatever. But the pools at this resort were ice cold pretty much and so there was no swimming options available at all!!!!

Sol mar is the sister resort to Gran sol mar. Gran sol mar is the better resort that has gym and an infinity pool. Nether have safe beach waters to swim in but do have beach access. The waves are just too big.

The property itself is actually quite decent, though it does feel a bit dated in some areas. The staff was very friendly and genuinely helpful throughout our stay, which we really appreciated. That said, the prices for food and drinks are outrageous. It feels like the entire area is overpriced—especially at the airport, where you can easily pay $20 for a single beer or a slice of pizza. And no, that’s not an exaggeration. One downside is that the facility doesn’t have its own gym or laundry. If you need either, you’ll have to walk over to the resort next door, Playa Grande, to use theirs. Our first couple of days were peaceful, but then things took a turn. The music at the pool got extremely loud, and the whole vibe shifted into more of a party scene. It lost that calm, classy atmosphere we were hoping for.

The staff were very friendly. Room spotless. The first rooms were so cold and moldy we asked them if we could change rooms and the rooms we moved into were much better. We appreciated their help. The swimming pool was permeated with so many chemicals it actually hurt the skin on my face as I was doing laps and tasted terrible. So I couldn't swim. It was not a swimming beach and everytime we walked close to the water on our early morning walk a hotel employee came to admonish us we were walking too close to the ocean. I understood and saw there was a strong back tow and it was important to keep a watchful eye on the waves and I felt their concern bordered on harassment. On the website it advertised there was a gym but in reality the gym was in the hotel next door and use of it cost $11. US for one time use. The quality of the food served was poor.

Property well maintained, beautiful view of the ocean, and dining options on property. Multiple swimming pools on property, and one with a swim up bar.

They upgraded us to a suite with 3 balconies, 2 full bathrooms, a king size bed, kitchette and living area. All with AC, of course. That was awesome and much appreciated. We didn’t like how we couldn’t go next door to the infinity pools at Grand Solmar. Seems like it’s part of the same resort, but it’s not. Also, didn’t like the high-pressure sales tactics for selling me a timeshare, but maybe that’s just part of the Cabo experience. If you hear the word “presentation”, run the other way. Haha. That being said, the resort staff and servers at El Tejaban restaurant were very nice, helpful & courteous. One other thing, Uber pickup isn’t allowed on property, you have to meet them at the gate. However, they are allowed in to drop you off.

Our room was always spotless. We were upgraded when we checked in. Marco, who delivered our bags to our room was courteous and professional. The restaurants were also good.

Floors on the tile grout had long hairs and eye brows on the side of bed not cool and killed cockroach. No swimming at beach to dangerous have to go to swimming beaches near by. pools are to warm! BBQ at pools food excellent! I was surprised, I always go out don’t like hotel food. Valet parking was awesome. They had list of things to do, and the lady never got back to us, we gave her phone number. Oh well booked on our own

The check-in process was definitely stressful. I was first given a room that did not meet the level of room I had reserved and paid for. When I went back to the check-in desk, I was told they were completely booked and the type of room I had reserved was not available. I was shown a second room that had no balcony and looked onto an interior inner hallway. I went back to the check-in desk and told the staff I would be happy to talk to a manager. After about a ten minute wait I was told the original type of room I had reserved was actually available, and given a room key. This type of stress and dishonesty was not necessary. The room also smelled heavily of mold, and no fans or ability to open a window was available in the bathroom.

Very clear room and grounds. Well kept. Bed was very comfortable.

The staff were tremendous. Our room was cleaned spotlessly every day. The bellboys were very courteous and helpful as were the waiters. Room was terrific with a marvelous view. Overall we couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Very well maintained older property with huge rooms. Our room had 2 full bathes and 3 balconies all with beautiful ocean views. Would stay again.

Si no eres gringo mejor no vayas, no te tratan bien si no eres gringo y pagas en dólares. Todo es excesivamente caro en el restaurant, las atenciones van dependiendo a las propinas que dejes. El internet malísimo, para tener un buen internet tienes que pagar el premium. Encontré un cucaracha en el baño y lo más importante es que si pagas el “todo incluido” no te lo respetan, si tomas más de ciertas bebidas después ya no te quieren servir. Y por último y no menos importante si no le dejas propina a “Doña Lety” no te deja jabón ni toallas. En general el trato deplorable, lo único que vale la pena es la vista que tiene la mar.

This property review is a challenge to write. The location was amazing, the check in staff were awesome as was Ivan ( Bell Boy) and Asai ( Pool Server). Unfortunately, the rest of the staff that we encountered were underwhelming at best. The rooms are dated, but comfortable with unmatched views, Inside, they could use upgrades into this century, the 1980’s decor can be a little hard to swallow. All of that is forgivable. What’s not is the food. We tried all outlets and were disappointed with each one. Our dinner on Friday night on property was, as we were all in agreement, the worst we had been served in any hotel… anywhere. The steaks were cooked to carbon, the pork chops devoid of any moisture. Our sides of vegetables and potatoes were served burned beyond recognition. We were charged $102.00 plus for a terrible meal. Then to the pool for a snack. Again our server here, Asai, was terrific! The two meals we ordered, nachos and ceviche were both lacking flavor, and presentation. Both should not have been served. Breakfast? You might think that it’s not possible to serve eggs incorrectly, but the cooks managed to do that here. I ordered the Machaca and Eggs, my spouse, the eggs ranchero. Both came out completely overcooked and inedible. To wrap this up, the property can be forgiven for being outdated, the views and location make up for it. Don’t spend your time or money on food, go off property to a nice restaurant and enjoy your meal.

This property is a mess and we paid to be miserable for 4 days. Balcony doors were filthy, walls are paper thin so you hear everything in the rooms around you. Electronics are from the Y2K era. Staff is poorly trained to do anything but apologize. Pool staff is good but the pool itself is disgusting. People were cutting themselves on this sharp rocklike texture that coated the pool. So we spend almost no time in the water because of health concerns. Beach view is beautiful and useless for swim in because it is in a riptide area. Tragic place. Should be torn down.

Everything was super smooth. Check-in (free upgrade), bell staff (Juan was great!), rooms were living and bedroom with 2 bathrooms. We had 3 balconies and the views were amazing! The food doesn’t have options but it’s really good food. We stayed at other resorts before and it was trash. Def worth the upgrade! Will def stay here again in couple months when I return 🔥

Even though the rooms are little old/dated, they keep them clean and they have a nice set up. Further, many great views from most rooms. We enjoyed the spacious set up and the bed was quite comfortable. Good amenities and easy access to the beach. The staff was very nice. They do offer currency exchange, but rather than providing a valuable service for their guests, they try to profit off of it by giving you a poor exchange rate compared to the going rate in town.

We loved our stay. The staff, the food, the views/location on the ocean are all great. The rooms are dated (doesn't matter for the price), but we had major plumbing issues with the shower in the master bedroom.... no cold water, water spraying out of the faucet handle (cold water).. the maintenance guy came out to fix it twice, but we never really had a decently temperatured shower. Food was excellent! Only 1 restaurant was open + the pool bar, but food was so good. The wait staff was fantastic, remember what we ordered, remembered how we liked our coffee, remembered our room # for billing. Not all of the pool bar guys were as great.. but they were okay. For the price this place can't be beat! Not sure why the pool closes so early... that wasn't cool, but al in all it was a nice stay (again.. for the price).

We loved it here!!!! The room was MASSIVE! Full kitchen, 2 balconies, 2 bathrooms, both with showers! We did not pay for the all inclusive because we wanted to try the restaurants in the marina & town, but the couple times we did eat at El Tejaban, the food was fantastic! Leilani was the sweetest and most fun entertainment person at the pool every day, we loved her! Would definitely return <3 (& probably pay for the all inclusive next time)

Staff was rude and ignored us and our requests. One restaurant open. Bartender was horrible, said ice machine was broken. It wasn't as he was making drinks. Our first night: Bathroom, sliding shower door was missing one of the doors. Water was too hot as we found out there was no cold water. They said they were doing Maintenance. Second night, when we arrived from our excursions we preceded to take showers and again no cold water. We notified them they said they had maintenance working on it. Third night they said the manage was not in and they would send a maintenance worker to check. He arrived and then verified that we had no cold water. Manager showed up 30 min. after and moved us to a different room. We were there from Friday till Monday and only enjoyed one night of a nice shower. 5star hotel I think NOT!

Due to Solmar losing my son’s reservation, they put us up at the Playo Grande Penthouse. It was very fancy/nice but also very loud at night (we had a baby) & we were further from the ocean & friends that were at the Solmar. I do not plan to stay with this organization again.

They lost our reservation, and switched us to a room at their sister location, Playa Grande. This meant we were split up from the rest of our family, and while they said it was only a 2-5 minute walk, it was more like a 10-15 minute walk. Also, the room that they gave us was right on the marina and so loud that our baby was up most of the night crying, along with us. A very disappointing experience.

We really enjoyed our stay at Solmar! The staff was amazing - attentive, helpful and kind! We would definitely stay here again!

Me, or my family and friends will never stay at this hotel. I’d check in they ask you where you’re from just sent you on a scheme to sell you timeshares. If they tell you to go to another hotel to eat breakfast for free, say no. They lied to me and I lost four hours of my vacation. Also, when you check out and have a family member pick you up, they will not let them go all the way to reception. You have to walk all the way down to the gate when it’s hot and carrying suitcases. Not very good customer service. Through the whole process it just was lies after lie after lie. I’m disappointed in their customer service in their check-in points by asking questions questions just to trick you into selling you something. Expedia please don’t recommend this hotel anymore. Thank you.

Beautiful property and walkable to marina and Centro area. The staff were really nice and helpful as well. Would definitely stay at Solmar when back to Cabo!

This property was perfect if you want to be on the outside of town for a little peace and quite, but also not to far away from town. The marina and downtown area was within walking distance which was perfect. Also the resort itself is very big and very beautiful, and guest services were very helpful and informative.

We purchased the all inclusive package with airfare for 3 nights. The staff was professional and literally were at our beck and call. They upgraded our room to a 2 bedroom deluxe with 2 bathrooms and allowed us to decorate our daughter’s room with rose petals and swans (maid created the swans and helped me set it up). They served us so much food and alcohol that was very high quality. We had everything from full breakfasts to ribs and shrimp. The swim up pool bar and jacuzzi were very relaxing. The beach is gorgeous and clean. You can’t swim. It’s too dangerous. But the walks were amazing. They had live music and on the beach grilling. There was a breakfast buffet on Saturday. We highly recommend. Make sure you book shuttle rides from the airport to the resort. The shuttles were always available. We took taxis to Cabo which is right around the corner. You can actually walk.

We had a wonderful time at Solmar resort! It was nice and quiet, but very close to the marina. We walked down every night for dinner. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and our room was comfortable, clean and quiet. I would definitely stay here again!

Solmar is the most wonderful place to rest and relax. It is very quiet and peaceful with lovely ocean views and a beautiful beach. It is very clean and well maintained and the staff members are helpful, knowledgable, delightful and attentive. The resort is a ten minute walk from the marina and the town so couldn't be any more convenient. I love being there and have been many times.

What a gem! Food was delicious! Room was spacious, clean, and comfortable! Lovely staff. Drinks were great too!

The service was great & we really enjoyed the spacious studio that was like a small apartment with 2 bathrooms, a living room, a kitchen and 3 balconies. Location was great for a walk into town. The cocktails at the pool bar were expensive & they wanted to charge us $50 to enjoy the fire pit out on the sand. They do not allow you to take your own drinks to pool area.

Great staff service from beginning to end. They upgraded are room from a studio to a one bedroom with killer ocean view. We bought into the non alcohol meal plan for 62/day pp. and it was fabulous. Definitely worth the money.

The food was really good. The property was fairly quiet and not too crowded. Our room had a lot of space for the price. The beachfront location was beautiful. Two negatives were our repeated request for a shade to the window in our bathroom that let in a lot of light at night and the front desk telling us they would send someone from maintenance, but no one ever came. There was also no way to get drinkable water except asking for water bottles from the restaurant. We’ve stayed at other all inclusive resorts that have filtered water dispensers in the hallway that are much more convenient. We got the all inclusive and every time you get anything from a restaurant they print a bill and ask for your room number and signature. The prices are printed on the bill but totaled to zero—this seems to be for tipping purposes but the prices are incredibly inflated to the point that a basic breakfast would be over $100 USD if you don’t have the all inclusive package. Your eating options are at the main restaurant, poolside sushi/pizza/burgers, and one other casual restaurant/bar. It was a pleasant stay for the price but probably won’t go back due to the inconveniences we experienced and limited dining options.

Excelente hotel para descansar. El personal es muy amable; cabe destacar al mesero José Luis y Manuel del turno de la mañana y a Jorge, de la tarde-noche, en su restaurante "Tejaban". Su atención fue excelente; nos hicieron sentir verdaderamente cómodos y resolvieron todas nuestras dudas de manera muy amable. También quiero mencionar a la señorita Mary, de limpieza, quien siempre fue muy amable y dejaba un detalle visual al acomodar las toallas. Por otro lado, podrían mejorar en la claridad de su información en las páginas de agencias. Mencionan que todo está incluido en sus paquetes, pero al llegar lo primero que te indican es que algunos alimentos, el servicio a la habitación y ciertas bebidas están excluidos (aunque lo de las bebidas es comprensible). Sería útil especificar con más detalle qué está incluido y qué no. Además, durante los 4 días que estuve, nunca vi abierto el "Palapa Grill", lo cual fue una decepción. En cuanto a la ubicación, es excelente. Incluso se pueden ver ballenas desde la playa, y los atardeceres se disfrutan por completo, ya sea desde la arena o desde los camastros.
