I enjoyed my visit tremendously. The woman who helped me check in was very kind and recommended places to go. The other front desk person Rolf was very kind and accommodating. The restaurant is centrally located to everything I wanted to see and do. The restaurant in the hotel called the Governor was absolutely fantastic. My server was Jorine and she was so kind. She gave me the best dining experience so a big thank you to her.

Pro: Superb bar and restaurant. Rooms clean with good shower. Staff are excellent and helpful. Location is central for exploration. Car park close by. Cons. Rooms are a little dated but well kept. Some street noise can be heard in certain rooms.

Location is perfect. Elevator was broken, so taking the stairs to the 3rd floor quickly lost its charm. Other than this, the stay was safe and comfortable. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

The location couldn't be better, right in front of the city square. The place has a very good restaurant with outside tables very European style. One caveat. This hotel is not for large or out of shape people or people with lots of luggage. Lots of steep stairs. Getting to the rooms is like solving a puzzle. Still, once in the room, it is fantastic.

This hotel was amazing. Tbe location was brilliant. In the centre and close to everything. The staff were lovely and helpful. The bar and restaurant that is part of the hotel was a great bonus. The room was great. Loved the walk in shower.

The staff was helpful, but they had a problem with the the elevator jamming on certain floors. We were lucky it was working when we needed to take our luggage up to our room and back down, though we had to go to the 6th floor and then walk down to our room on the 5th floor.

Very well located, across from the Cathedral. The dining room and lobby were very nice, the room was small, clean. However the hallways were not looking good. Even though there is a lift, we still needed to carry the bags up to a very steep staircase.

The hotel is in a wonderful location. The drawback of the location is the 58€ parking for less than 24 hours at the closest city owned parking garage. Outrageous.

This hotel is very outdated. The floor in our room was sagging and the carpets everywhere were dirty and stained. The photos on hotel’s website are very deceiving. The bathroom in our room was not even close to the photos. The shower floor was cracked, the water didn’t drain properly and the floor looked dirty because it’s so stained. We would not stay here again. I wish I read the reviews on Google and not on Expedia. The staff was nice and breakfast was very good. The location is excellent.

This hotel has a excellent location. When we entered the hotel my wife asked how much we were paying to stay because the area and lobby was excellent. Once we entered our room she said some other things. There was a stain on the carpet just as we entered the room that made us look at the carpet more closely and we think that they should have replaced it already. The walls had marks all over and the curtains were dirty.The room had a nice size, shower was nice if you like drying the entire bathroom floor after using it. It was almost completely open to the rest of the bathroom. Our room had a vent pipe beside it and we listened to the air flow when ever it was quiet in the room. Fantastic location!

De ligging is wel top, zo in de stad em het uitgaans leven. Accomodatie zelf mag wel vernieuwd worden. Tapijt is kapot/dun, badkamer raam rozijn heeft schimmel, badkamerkast is ook vergaande glorie. Personeel zelf was wel aardig.

The exterior and lobby area of the hotel was lovely giving it an appearance of luxury. However once you exit the elevators and on your floor, the disrepair shows very quickly. The carpets were dirty and stained. The walls chipped. The room was very little, and for the most part clean but aged. The window looked over the roofs of neighbouring buildings and all the piping for ventilation etc. the bathroom was very small and you had to sit sideways on the toilet or your knees would hit the shower wall. The shower however was wonderful and hot!

Location is central and mainly the redeeming quality at this facility. When we checked in, the staff at reception were rude and unnecessarily sarcastic. The room was out of date and needed repair (e.g., scuffs and dents in the walls). Hallways were dirty as well, with dirty laundry piled in the hallways. Noise in the hallways and above us were very loud.

Om 15:30 willen inchecken, niemand bij receptie, kamer nog niet klaar. De kamer was klein en niet geheel schoon. Vlekken in het tapijt. Dikke laag stof op de staande ventilator. Afstandsbediening tv deed het niet. Geen koelkastje. Water van de douche ging onder douchewand door, daardoor toilet helemaal nat. Al met al niet veel soeps. De locatie is het enige positieve

Amazing hotel in the centre of Haarlem. Stayed here 3 nights whilst doing a bike tour around Holland and this was a beautiful place to use as a base for a few days. The room and wet room were huge and we had a lovely view of St Bavo’s church. Just perfect! Also had to stay an extra night and luckily our room was still vacant!😊

Wij houden van Haarlem. En dit hotel is super centraal gelegen, vlakbij heel wat eet- en drinkgelegenheden. Wij waren hier net na een hittegolf, de kamer was bloedheet en er is geen enkele kamer met airco in het hotel. Er stonden 2 ventilatoren op wat verkoeling te bieden. Gezien de hitte mocht er wel een flesje water voorzien zijn in de minibar, die wel voorzien maar leeg was. Het raam stond open om verkoeling te bieden. Helaas kwam hier heel wat lawaai van buitenaf door (met het raam dicht ook trouwens). Het feesten buiten heeft geduurd tot 1u45, dit terwijl onze wekker al om 6u45 ging voor een geplande uitstap. Hoewel de ligging perfect is, zie je ons hier dus geen tweede keer.

Hidden expense beware.. Even though you have paid full price for your stay through expedia before arriving we paid over 1000 euros the hotel reception on checking in insist they take an 150 euro standing deposit for any damage to the hotel refundable after inspection after you leave the hotel. As a 71 year old I struggled to understand the reasoning, never experienced this before and questioned the chief receptionist who was very rude abrupt. Very upset that I dared question this and told us there was always an alternative which was to go elsewhere. Instead of being welcomed we were vilified for asking. We had just arrived. I asked her what the hotel rules were about damage and she refused to provide me any real detail Apart from a short form that i had to sign. They said that they did not have to tell expedia every detail of rules they may impose. The hotel is extremely hot and very uncomfortable and the room well used and looks rather downtrodden and beginning to become shoddy. We had to keep our french windows open as we had a garden room to get sufficient air.teenagers were playing football in the quadrangle and hitting the windows with the ball. You could hear everything through the paper thin walls. I remain depressed about the terrible disrespectful manner with which we were dealt at the hotel it was totally unnecessary and was not treated with the respect that normally receive as older people travelling abroad. This hotel is struggling and does not merit 3 stars

This is a good hotel in a prime location in the center of Haarlem. The staff was really supportive and engaged themself making our stay more convenient. We bought bus tickets to the tulip park and it worked out well. Arriving from Schiphol airport by bus 300 to Haarlem center is smooth to a tens of an Uber. We can recommend this hotel.

The very competent clerk named Rolf was very kind and was able to get us into a room early. He made great recommendations for us to visit a nearby windmill (Adriaan) and that made for a great day! Room was comfortable, shower worked well, and breakfast was delicious. Very satisfied with it all. The location is between several outdoor restaurants on the side of the Grote St Bavo. Don't use the Google maps, it will take you away from the front door! Just get to the big church and walk around it. It was lovely to hear the church bells from the hotel, but they did not ring all night and did not disturb sleep.

Location is central and mainly the redeeming quality at this facility. When we checked in, the staff at reception were rude and unnecessarily sarcastic. The room was out of date and needed repair (e.g., scuffs and dents in the walls). Hallways were dirty as well, with dirty laundry piled in the hallways. The hotel is in a wonderful location. The drawback of the location is the 58€ parking for less than 24 hours at the closest city owned parking garage. Outrageous.

Excellent central location in the heart of the old marketplace. Easy 15 minute walk to the train station which was better than taking a taxi due to mainly pedestrian traffic location. Walkable to many shops, restaurants, bars and city sites. Very friendly and helpful staff with easy check-in and out. Improvements - shower is almost on top of toilet with small glass wall separating them - glass wall should be longer as floor around toilet also gets wet and slippery. A small fridge would be nice too. Both of these maybe due to old nature of building.

The hotel is located great just by the church and walking distance to Haarlem central station. Very nice surroundings! The hotel itself is ok, the window in our room had a quite big gap underneath so when it was windy outside we also got the wind right into our room… The door to our room didnt fully close itself so you had to push it close the last bit so when we arrived the door was open. We said no to house keeping since we werent sure they would close the door properly afterwards. The breakfast was very poor, I announced twice (a month and weeks prior) and upon arrival that I am vegan but the only thing they had was soy milk, milk free butter, one type of bread and cucumber & tomato. I would have liked to see more vegetables, cereals, oat meal, fruit salad for example.

The staff is helpful and friendly. The location cannot be beat. Plenty of restaurants, shopping, amenities around. The breakfast was wonderful. Included eggs (scrambled and boiled), bacon and sausage, mushrooms, and pancakes. Variety of breads, donuts, granola, yogurt and fruits. Self services coffee machine for cappuccino and lattes. Our room was a little dated but that did not make it any less comfortable. The kettle in the room was wonderful for making coffee in our room in the morning. The hotel was prompt with our request for extra pillows and coffee as well as towels. This was very much appreciated. This is only of the only hotels in Haarlem with a gym. It’s nothing glamorous and appears to double as a storage space but it got the job done. There’s a treadmill, stairstepper, free weight dumbbells, smith machine, and total body weight machine. I highly recommend this hotel and appreciate how attentive the staff was to our needs.
