It is not specified when you book that the pool for the guest is NOT the big nice pool shown in the pics. The big pool advertised is only for spa guest who purchase over $100 in services. the main pool for the guest in the hotel is much smaller. I enjoyed the room the most it was very clean and updated. The worst part was On my second night the person 2 doors down from me was smoking pot outside the balcony- the balconies are all connected and the smell immediately filled up our room, when I peeked my head out the balcony I saw a couple smoking weed on the - this happened again later on in the night- I woke up to the same smell around midnight.the staff were very friendly upon check in

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Room was clean...minus the old sock that we found above the window treatment. Bed was ok..felt a little like we were laying at a backward angle. The shower head leaks and sprayed water on the ceiling and over the top of the shower door at times. Decor in the room was great though and it felt very cozy and warm! Staff was very friendly and welcoming and the lobby/common areas were very well kept!! Amenities could have been better for sure. The main pool area was dark and dingy. The hot tub was old and semi-hot. The theater seems fine, but I did expect a larger screen (the screen was maybe 70" ). The spa was fine but the hot tub was out of order. The spa pool was also old and in need of repair. The fitness center was really nice, but it was freezing. Thankfully, they placed a few electric space heaters in there.... Lastly, I was really surprised at the lack of water filling stations or water fountains...that was strange in today's day and age... Overall, the off-season rate we got was perfect...but I would not pay several hundred dollars per night, in season to stay here.

The resort is clean, spacious and in a beautiful area. As was to be somewhat expected, over a summer weekend there were a number of wedding parties so it felt very busy. On our final night (Sunday) it was quieter and felt better. Some aspects of the resort are quite tired - peeling paint and wallpaper in our bathroom/ bedroom. The kids outdoor pool felt worn in places and the indoor slide particularly so - it looked rusted. This was disappointing as the pools were one of the reasons we wanted to stay here with a young family. Sadly the service was quite poor - over 30min to get served a coffee in the am. Not enough staff at all considering the guest numbers. At the Smores by the fire evening, we didn’t even realise the girl that was meant to be staff was working - she was literally watching TikTok on her smartphone.

We were unaware there would be an extra fee to use the adult only pool. The adult only pool is one of the main reasons we booked this resort since it was a weekend away from our children. The adult only pool is in their spa area therefore they charge $50 per person a day to use the adult only pool even if you’re not using any other spa amenities. When I woke up Sunday morning I went to take a shower and the water was cold with the water pressure being very limited. Called the front desk and they said they would send somebody to take a look at it. When I asked how long they thought it would take considering it was 9:30 AM and we had to check out by 11 AM. They could not guarantee us a time somebody would fix it, nobody arrived prior to us checking out, so we are not able to shower before leaving. There was no reimbursement for the inconvenience. We will not be returning or recommending this resort.

The spa was great. The building I stayed in was dingy and the room was coated in dust. The hallways smelled like pot. I had no coffee service the first day and there was body wash in the shower when I got there. If the beds weren’t made I’d swear the room hadn’t been cleaned. I also didn’t get the room I reserved.

We stayed at the Abbey for two nights. When we arrived, the room was not very clean. There was trash in the waste baskets. On the second day, we came back to our room around 3:00, the room was still not clean. I went to the front desk and asked if our room was going to be cleaned. They responded that they only clean it after we check out. This is not the level of service that I expect from a resort that charges $350/night.

All the kid activities, and the walks around the hotel. The hotel inside was old and u could hear an see the floor move when stairs were in use. Lots of spider webs. Fridge in room was not working correctly. Toilet was dirty when we arrived.

I recently decided to spend a Memorial weekend at The Abbey Resort, hopeful for a relaxing getaway. Unfortunately, my experience was far from delightful, overshadowed by a series of disappointments that started as soon as we entered our room. Upon walking into our room, we were greeted with a strong musty odor. It was quite unpleasant, and we had to open the door just to freshen up the space. This set the tone for what was supposed to be a comfortable stay, but it only got worse. I had been looking forward to a relaxing time at the Avani Spa, but it failed to meet expectations. The swirl pool, one of the main attractions, was closed. To top it off, the front desk staff at the spa was dismissive and rude, making the experience anything but rejuvenating. A more distressing issue was finding bugs crawling on our bed. This is simply unacceptable, especially when traveling with an infant. The lack of cleanliness was highly concerning and made sleeping arrangements questionable. The combination of musty rooms, an underwhelming spa experience, rude staff, and a cleanliness issue forced us to cut our stay short. Traveling with an infant is challenging enough without these added problems. I was nothing but disappointed with The Abbey Resort, and I cannot recommend it based on our experience.

I was disappointed with our stay at the Abbey this weekend. Our sheets in our room and our robes at the spa were stained. Housekeeping came into our room even with our do not disturb sign on the handle. We were very creeped out. The shower absolutely scolded us even when we didn’t have it turned to hot. The coffee mugs were dirty when we sat down for our breakfast. It had snowed that weekend, and there was barely any snow removal on the property, so driving and walking was dangerous. The Abbey is supposed to be a nice place, and it did not live up to the name at all.

Black finger prints on entrance and exit doors through the hotel. Our do not disturb sign was also covered in black fingerprints. Missing hanging hand towels in bathroom. Room temperature seemed off, set at 70 at cranking freezing cold air conditioning, turned to heat at 68, then room turned hot a muggy. Broken window seals, sliding windows completely fogged over. Felt like a creepy motel.

While the lobby and dining rooms have been remodeled, some areas, like the outside pool and outside balconies are in high need of repair. The grounds are beautiful. The rooms were musty smelling and no privacy. Our rooms looked out on to the grounds, but if we opened the blinds, everyone could see into our room and people could look right into our windows. Mattresses on the beds were worn on one side in both rooms. Nice restaurant and several pools as options were nice. Spa was very nice. Staff was good.

The hotel has seen its better days. The rooms are small, the furniture worn, and if you have a pool view, don’t stay there. In addition, people are walking by your room, and if you have your blinds open, they can look in and see you. There’s not very much positive that I could say about this hotel. For what they offer, it’s very expensive. I think you could do a lot better staying elsewhere and I know we will never go back. It’s clearly living on its past reputation. What I did enjoy was the shore path which follows the shoreline of Lake Geneva with beautiful homes perched above. I also like Sammy’s restaurant on the Square in Walworth.

Beautiful resort, our room had a lovely harbor view. The food was delicious at the waterfront. Close beach access at Fontana. Quick drive to downtown area. Room was just average. Litttle dated . The bed was old and sunken on one side. The bathroom is very nice but water wouldn’t get hot. Just warm enough for a shower.

The main building with the reception desk was nice, the living quarters are old. The room with 2 queen size beds is way too small. Outside seating area is not nice, if you order room service, no place to sit and eat other than in bed. This resort hosts weddings, the music blasting till midnight was not great as the walls are thin, no chance of sleeping till past midnight.

We stayed here over Labor Day weekend for our friends’ wedding. Because of the holiday, the hotel required a minimum two-night stay. That wasn’t an issue for us since we were coming from out of town. However, the bride and groom, who live nearby and only needed one night, were forced to book two which is understandable given the holiday. When they went to check in, they were told their room had been given away because they didn’t arrive the first night. No effort had been made to contact them before reselling the room, and they received no refund. To make matters worse, they had to pay for another room just to stay on their wedding night. When they raised concerns, the response from the front desk was essentially, “You should have read the fine print.” This showed zero compassion or flexibility—especially toward a couple bringing so many guests to the property. Overall, this experience demonstrated that the hotel values reselling rooms over providing good customer service. Treating newlyweds and paying guests this way is unacceptable. I will not be staying here again. Also when we left we had to pay additional resort fees. I prefer when you book a hotel online you see the full price rather than sneaking in additional costs at the end.

I lost 2 hours of my one night stay trying to find my room that nobody would help me with. I drove around the lot three times. I am handicapped and not one person offered to help me carry my bags a mile away to my room that could not be parked near so I had to walk. By the time I finally got to the room it was too late because I had dinner reservations so couldn’t even freshen up. I cannot believe I spent over $400 for a room I was in for less than 12 hours. Maybe you should have valet and people helping guests checking in. I will never be back.

Front desk clerk(female) was curt. Also wanted to chrge me $25. more if I checked in before 2:00. I had to change positions of my car at least 3 times because of where the pool was and the clerk denying early check in without an extra fee. She at least could have offered to call when my room was ready....Also my room was ready almost at the time I checked in the first time. I have stayed at the Abbey for at least 30 years. I will not be coming back.

We really enjoy coming back to the Abbey when we visit family nearby. In the past several years, it looks like fewer staff are attempting to do more and it takes its toll. That said, the staff is always so friendly and kind.

We have stayed here many times and the room locations can be quite a walk from where you park your car. I asked for an easily accessible room because I was recovering from a broken back. The room I was assigned to required entering Building 3 - walking almost the full length - and then entering Building 2 where our room was located. Not very accessible at all! Further, we had not TV in our room. Front Desk promised to issue a 10% discount because of this and I am still waiting to see it.

The staff was pretty attentive and helped when our shower was backed up. The hotel sent out maintenance quickly and had our shower fixed within 20 minutes. The area is beautiful and theres plenty to do within the resort. We mainly stayed there for the spa but were pretty surprised how nice the resort was. Overall a great experience

The staff was very friendly and the room was very clean. The only drawback was that our hotel room was in a different building than the pool and there were no signs telling you how to get to the pool. We found a staff member, who gave us directions, but they were so long that we didn't remember all of them and eventually had to ask another staff member.

The Abbey is the perfect little getaway. That side of the lake is nice and quiet, compared to the craziness of the downtown area. We were able to walk for ice cream, dinner, and the beach all from the hotel's front steps. We will be coming back.

We have been coming to The Abbey for at least 10 years. We enjoy its location and the local restaurants that are walkable during spring through fall like weather. And it’s an easy drive to downtown Lake Geneva. The rooms are clean. However I feel the bathroom could use a grab bar in the bathtub/shower and they must use extra softener in the water. I felt like I wasn’t getting all the product out of my hair. All of the staff are friendly. Food is good at the Waterfront restaurant. The entertainment on Friday night at the waterfront is great, very talented!

The Abbey Resort provided a great stay for our family of 5. We stayed 5 days and the kids were entertained every single day between the pools, arcade, board games, cinema, scavenger hunt, and s'mores or ice cream nights. I only am not giving it 5 stars because the food is pretty awful. At the Waterfront the food was so mediocre it's hard to understand why they don't just upgrade the quality of the ingredients or the cooks, given the beautiful setting right in front of the lake. Go elsewhere for dinner. at West 240 buffet, the morning eggs were definitely some processed powder thing, not eggs. My kids complained that the bacon was undercooked. It was not a place we wanted to return to for breakfast. The mini fridge in our room did not work at all, and the fruit we had in there went rotten. A simple fridge replacement would go a long way. And lastly, the sofa bed mattress was all springs. There was no mattress left. We could hear our kids backs against the springs at night. Again, I don't understand if they are going to advertise the room for 5 people why they wouldn't just replace the sofa mattresses. Our kids had a hard time sleeping on it. The grounds are beautiful, and the overall landscape is peaceful, but they need a few updates to the rooms themselves and to the food to be a 5-star stay.

Overall, the experience was a good one, just not spectacular. Our TV never worked in the room. We were told it was a wind related issue (there was wind and light rain that night), but it never resolved afterwards. There is chipping and wood rot noticeable in places that make you question the age and upkeep. The bartenders were outstanding, but our experience at 290 restaurant left something to be desired (and it was my birthday). The salad was wrong and the waiter just said "yeah, looks like they made it wrong" with no attempt to remedy the situation. My steak was RARE even though I'd ask for medium. This seems to be a recurrent problem from other reviews I've seen.

This is an inner US resort, not Mexico or all inclusive. Their lodging cost is less with some added costs as you go along. Very beautiful property well maintained with great staff. I would only recommend the waterfront. There are lots of other restaurants nearby

We have been coming to The Abbey for at least 10 years. We enjoy its location and the local restaurants that are walkable during spring through fall like weather. The property was nice and clean. The 240 West restaurant was very good with great staff. Bar West and the Waterfront were just ok. Very limited on things to do. Cafe Latte had excellent caramel machiatos. If you just want to relax, it's good. Guests in the next room kept me awake the first night with all their noise, but after they checked out, it was peaceful.
